Camb79 · 11/07/2013 09:31

Hi,
I was on at the very beginning and been off MN since, but it's great seeing how many of the babies are already born. My due date is July 25th, but having a c-section on the 18th...

CitizenOscar · 11/07/2013 09:38

Dinky - no more suggestions as you seem to have everything covered unless kellymom has more suggestions - just wanted to say I've got very engorged breasts too. Only other thing is to check positioning - some positions will help Jackson drain your breasts more deeply (baby's nose up, chin down as far as possible - according to advice passed on by my friend from her lactation consultant).

Think I'm going to try to pop along to local breastfeeding cafe to get some advice on latch & position because it's still a bit painful & not quite right.

Runswithsquirrels · 11/07/2013 09:49

Hello all. It's taken me a while to catch up with two days worth of posts! I went into labour Tuesday and Eden Rose arrived at 0041 Wednesday. We had a water birth with g and a, but then I ironically needed a spinal for tear repair!
Eden is beautiful and was 9lb 3.
Like Dinky I had reflexology the day before she arrived. Left the reflexologist at 630pm and labour began 1030am. Fourteen hour labour or so overall. Reflexology worked and avoided the induction! Another irony was the midwife calling me to give me my induction date whilst I was in labour.
Eden still hasn't peed so hence our still being in hospital and one worried new mummy. She's getting better at feeding and so am I so hopefully all will be well soon and we can go home!
I hope everyone else is well and a big thanks for all the support. You guys are great!

SlouchingPanda · 11/07/2013 09:50

Morning!

Well, it's my due date today (I know it says tomorrow on our R&R list - I just never got round to changing it...). No sign of any imminent baby-action at all. Not even fresh bedsheets could encourage my waters to go in the night. I'm just feeling a bit bored now, but after the attempted sweep on Tuesday I was told that it's unlikely I'd go into labour in the next few days. Just waiting for today's 'have you had the baby yet?' messages to start flooding in. Icing I feel your pain!

MightbeMad - hope you have some success with the consultant midwife today; it all sounds very frustrating for you.

Cheek - I take my hat off to your late bag packing and hope things get moving for you soon.

Dinky - hope the cabbage and Kellymom help to sort your poor engorged breasts.

Camb79 - welcome back! I think we're going to have an awful lot of 'missing in action' from the original list, so good to 'see' you!

Right - given that there's no hope of actually having a baby today I'm off to do some gardening Flowers

40+0 (how on earth did that happen?)

SlouchingPanda · 11/07/2013 09:52

Cross-posted with Runs - congratulations!! Good luck with the feeding and hope you are all home soon!

Beginningofthejourney · 11/07/2013 10:24

Morning all just a quick one...can't remember who's mum (or mum in law) was getting random presents a few threads ago but I remember much discussion about baby emery boards, just wanted to say I have just used one on Theo! Worked really well can recommend them :-)
Should be my due date today instead I have a six week old baby! Good luck to my due date buddies x

MightBeMad · 11/07/2013 11:20

Sunday - lovely name and glad all is well with Luca.

Cheek - will keep everything crossed that it's a pre-labour clear out!

MightBeMad · 11/07/2013 11:29

Tom - sorry to hear your dealing with teething issues. Hope dd is more comfortable soon.

Cam - hello and good luck for 18th!

Citizen - hope the bf cafe are helpful!

Runs - many congratulations on Eden'a arrival! Glad you managed o avoid the induction and had a good delivery but I'm sorry to hear you needed a bit of a patch up afterwards. Hope that's healing well and not too uncomfy. Fingers crossed that Eden pees and you are ll safely home soon x

Slouching - happy due date and happy gardening!

Silver15 · 11/07/2013 12:10

Congulatutions Runs.

Dinky hope you get some relied soon.

Been to the boot sale not far from my home. I needed the walk. It was really big with lots of people. In the end I couldn't cover all the stalls as I was tired. I'm on a mission to walk as much as I can in the hope that it will set things off.

I also need to pack my bag and set up the cot. I was trying to be unprepared to try and tempt labour.

Silver15 · 11/07/2013 12:12

Relief and not relied. Silly auto correct.

TotallyEggFlipped · 11/07/2013 12:58

Sunday - glad everything's going well. I love the name!

Congratulations, Runs! Sounds like the reflexology was worth it. Sorry to hear you ended up needing a spinal in the end anyway.

Welcome back, Camb Good luck for the 18th. That was my due date.

Silver - being unprepared certainly worked for us, but I would recommend having the basics sorted. Being stuck in hospital just for want of a car seat sucks. I hope all the walking pays off soon!

Slouching I hope you see some movement soon.

Beginning glad to hear that baby emery boards aren't completely useless!

PhieEl06 · 11/07/2013 13:42

Oo ladies I have a hell of a lot to catch up on, best get a shifty on!

Cheek parcels still haven't arrived, Mothercare have felt the full wrath of a lady who is nearly 39 weeks pregnant & unbelievably hormonal this morning as the mattress which I have been waiting in for since last Friday still hasn't arrived, didn't even reach the couriers, got lost somewhere in between, however after the screaming match I had down the phone this morning my local store has one in stock & I can pick it up this afternoon, I feel quite guilty now! Blush Also there has been a lack of return on investment with the birthing ball, this baby is very stubborn but agree with thinking, it's the only place I seem to be comfy for any length of time now!

dinky glad you got the tongue tie sorted before it caused too much trouble, hope it's helped!

Although no baby here yet thanks MrsWildermac for the book recommendation I have made note for just in case!

Poco no real experience here but thinking explain your concerns to your midwife & see if she'll get on the case, hopefully someone else will give you better advice here. Smile

Andrea my LMP date is 15th July but scan date is 20th, I'm measuring rather large all the way through so far so hoping that LMP date is correct & I can't cope with pregnancy no more!

McKTastic I hope your bottom situation is improving... sending hugs! Thanks

I hope your baba gets moving soon Persuasion! Just think at the end when you meet him/her it will all be worth the crying/induction fears!

Slouching I like the idea of changing the beds sheets in order to encourage waters breaking!

Hehe icing at your mum, same with mine (also still living with parents), everytime I leave my room in the night she'll pop her head out of the bedroom door & ask "everything okay?" "Anything happening?" I usually grumble that I just need a wee!

Hoping all who had a poor nights sleep last night managed to get naps or at least a few sound hours in!

Luca is a lovely name Sunday, glad everything was sorted re. vomiting blood, not too serious & also that you had a good nights sleep!

Welcome back Camb79! Smile

Runs congratulations!! Hoping Eden does her business soon & you manage to get home!

Beginning I remember baby emery boards well, where did you get them from?!

Have a midwife appointment this afternoon which strangely I'm excited for, nothing major going on but it's out of my routine of daytime TV at the moment! I don't even know what day it is no more! Also a massive pile of baby ironing to get through!
Hope everyone else is doing well & there are more babies on the way!

Sorry guys for the horrifically long post! Blush

IcingTheCake · 11/07/2013 13:47

Camb welcome back! Good luck for the 18th, only a week! :)

Sounds like reflexology is the way forwards! Got my tax refund through today so I suppose I could treat myself Grin what exactly do they do? newbie

My mum didn't take me going off on one very well... She got all upset and doesn't understand why it annoys me?! What is with people! Haha we're carrying about a stone of extra weight, its ridiculously hot, sticky and uncomfortable and they think its funny to wind us up?? I'm going to have a proper talk with her tonight I think, because also she's still drinking wine in some evenings, even though she's meant to be the one taking me to hospital Hmm even my MIL has stopped drinking until I have the baby just in case I just feel she's not taking me seriously Sad and also I want her there for the birth but not if she's been drinking! I mean, I'm irritable anyway! Grin

I'm in a bit of a whiney mood so sorry about that, hope everyone is either busy relaxing or popping babies out! Smile someone I know was due last week and I got all upset that she'd given birth before me, even though I'm not due until next Saturday! EnvyBlush

pocopearl · 11/07/2013 14:04

hi all sorry to hear some of you are having a tough time but the dc's make it worth it.

I have been tempting fate today to try to labour a week early. did a massive asda order which mainly consisted of frozen food thinking it would be most incontinent for baby to want to come when i had all the frozen to put away. Well an hour later after its arrived i realised that i may have ordered too much frozen and am sat eating my way through a pile of slowly melting ice cream and ice lollies. i also tried the fresh sheet approach on the bed an that didnt work. i even tried rewashing all of the newborn clothes this morning all of which are now dry ironed and reput away. I have also prepared my speech in my head to my midwife regarding stupid consultant, so baby has until 5pm for that to be a waste of time. Just to save anyone else from trying the following as it doesnt work... didnt take an piriton this morning and the cut and strimmed the grass hoping the sneezing fit that followed would do something... it has not. seems baby is determined to stay in there a bit longer. god knows what i will be trying to do if i actually go overdue

pocopearl · 11/07/2013 14:06

*inconvenient not incontinent damn auto correct

Thinkingof4 · 11/07/2013 14:22

Heehee nice typo poco

Congratulations runs Eden is a lovely name too

Maybe I should find a local reflexologist - was it a specific antenatal one you had (have never been to one)

Midwives coming again tomorrow for another sweep (is there any point though!) and I'm going to speak to them then re my concerns. In the meantime I'm paying lots of attention to baby's movements and if things are slowing down I'll be on phone to hospital. Was getting myself into a right state earlier as baby hadn't kicked for a while but a glass of cold water seemed to get them going again. Really hard to know how much of this is me being paranoid and how much is genuine reason to be concerned. Sorry not explaining myself very well, just feeling uneasy

Hi

How do I join the Facebook group? Thanks!

IcingTheCake · 11/07/2013 15:05

poco i had a good old giggle at that typo! Shame none of its worked so far Sad but at least you have ice creams and lollies! And clean sheets Grin

thinking I've just googled the ones in my area and they all do overdue baby ones Grin i might give them a call in a bit!

tryiton I've messages you, its a hidden group so if you add me ill add you to the group! Smile

Persuasion · 11/07/2013 15:13

thinking I'm wondering if this uneasy feeling is inevitable when overdue? We all seem to be having similar thoughts. I called the labour Ward this morning to discuss if I could move induction forwards, they were really understanding and have moved it to Saturday. I feel much better about it now, more in control and less like I'm just waiting for something to go wrong. Definitely talk to your midwife or direct to the labour Ward (my community midwife was a bit useless and just said she couldn't go against the policy unless someone else had already said it Hmm )

Welcome back camb, what was the reason for the section? I hope it goes well for you.

icing and Phie moan away, particularly about parents! Mine have actually got better as I've got closer to having the baby but my mom did say yesterday that I couldn't have it on the 15th as it's my uncles birthday! Like I have any control whatsoever!

Those of you ironing baby clothes, really? Am I just a sloven??? They are washed but definitely not being ironed in this house!

evelynj · 11/07/2013 15:28

Hi busy bees

Everyone's been busy-congrats to you runs-love the name Eden. Also Luca is beautiful.

Reflexology is lovely-basically a good foot rub but best if u can get a recommendation-my sil has been doing it for years & can tell me that my hips are really bad & bladder under pressure etc just by feeling my feet. Also she said that it's good if you have a cesarean as can help the healing process.

I'm totally fed up & been crying buckets in car this morn as my 3yo DS had a hissy fit cos he wanted to open the car door himself & couldn't, then got pissed off cos I opened it. My patience seems to have run out & I feel bad for him but it's so hot I can't cope with silly crying & think the hormones have landed with a bomb! Also can't do any useful housework as have zero energy so don't want to sit around looking at the mess.

Ready for baby out now-just been for lash & brow tint & wax so no more appointments until elcs on Monday. today I'm glad it's soon as don't know how I'd possibly cope with another 3 weeks if I went over. I doff my hats to those that are over. Can barely move in last few days with hips/pelvis-going to get a walking stick from my dad later it's that bad!

Sorry for everyone with baby problems-think this is the stage of pregnancy & newborns that's hardest-in a month abw we'll all be on the other side. I'm off to lie on garden beanbag for an hour before going to get DS & try to keep a positive mental attitude.

Hope those that can enjoy the weather do so.....sorry for all the whinging :(

Runswithsquirrels · 11/07/2013 15:43

I just googled local reflexologists and read the comments on the site. If nothing else it's relaxing having someone fuss over your feet for an hour!

dinkystinky · 11/07/2013 17:06

Afternoon all - can I just say, Cabbage leaves rock! Words I never thought I'd utter but the relief a savoy cabbage leave can bring on an engorged boob is awesome. In my many researches today, I came across this website which is really informative www.breastfeedinginc.ca/content.php?pagename=information - recommend it for anyone encountering bf issues.Citizen - is great re latch.

Glad your reflexology was so effective Runs and you had a lovely water birth - sorry re the tear though/ Top tip - hire a valley cushion for sitting on at home.Lovely names for dd too.I didnt have reflexology to induce labour - I had it to relax (certainly seemed to help relax my shoulders) and reduce water retention - no idea if it helped bring on labour but it was certainly quick when it started.

Tom - sorry to hear about the teething - hope it passes quickly.

Evelyn - hope your day ends on a brighter note. Remember - either way its not long till you meet your baby now.

Persuasion - glad labour ward were accommodating and you feel better now.

Icing - hope your chat with your mum goes ok.

More to say but hungry fella to feed now - back later

TotallyEggFlipped · 11/07/2013 17:42

Persuasion - glad to hear you've had some support from the LW. Hope it all goes well.

dinky - so glad the cabbage leaves have given you some relief. I'd heard of it before, but I don't think I'd ever have tried it - I just dismissed it as an old wives tale.

Stay positive, evelyn. I hope chilling on your bean bag relaxed you some more and you didn't have any trouble getting up again

IcingTheCake · 11/07/2013 17:56

Sorry to hear youve been a bit emotional evelyn try to not worry too much we've all been there! Low tolerance us pregnant ladies/new mums.

dinky im glad the cabbage leaves worked for you!

I had a word with my mum, asked her if she'd stop drinking until the baby is here (she sounds like a right alky, shes not its just her 'summer drink' is wine and shes annoying lively after just a glass) and she just looked at me and said no why would i so i explained that she wanted to be a birth partner and had offered to take us to hospital, neither of which ill want her to do if shes drinking at all. I thought i was being quite reasonable, especially since mil stopped drinking of her own accord just in case we need her, and she just snapped at me saying 'well then dont go into labour in the evening' Sad i feel so upset now, like she doesn't care about what I want, and like being a birth partner is just to get out of work (her boss will let her leave early and she always mentions it) im regretting asking her to be there, which is such a shame because we normally have such a good relationship! It's made me really emotional, and feel bad since mil is doing everything to accommodate us and she won't be at the birth, which i know she wants to be Sad

Sorry another moany post, feeling a bit down at the moment Sad
