Esme - I had some reflexology for relaxation yesterday morning - no idea if that helped set things off but was lovely and relaxing anyway!

Persuasion - I had a long latent phase with ds1 - 2 days of early labour making me 2 cm dilated before I was induced. You've had a show which shows things are moving on. You could take evening primrose oil capsules (3 a day) to help thin out the cervix (contains prostaglandins) but rest assured things are moving in the right direction.

Thanks dinky. I'm starting to think I might be going mad! Are you still in hospital or home already?

elliejjtiny · 08/07/2013 08:24

Morning everyone.

congratulations calm, dinky, mysterymeg, pinkballetflats and anyone else I've missed.

slouching I've had a few "what the heck have I done" panic moments with all 4 of mine.

re latent phase I always get that, (apart from with Ezekiel as he was evicted before anything kicked off). I have quick labours when they finally get going properly though.

dinkystinky · 08/07/2013 08:27

Still in birth centre waiting for baby checks and tb jab this morning then hopefully off home by lunchtime. Apparently there were pap vans out when we arrived and I so scared one man on my way in he went rushing off to find a porter and wheelchair for me (so my doula tells me - all I could focus on was trying to walk to the birth centre through contractions coming every minute and a half for over a minute).

Morning gang!

Congratulations Dinky! Grin

Aww slouching I feel your pain, everytime I wake up in the night for a wee my first thought is "oooo have I just woken up because my waters have gone* but no unfortunately not.

esme & persuasion sending you overdue sympathies! Flowers

Congratulations dinky! DH had to get a chair off a passing paramedic for the same reason. Don't think I'd have made it otherwise.

After sleeping most of yesterday (foolishly I did not sleep then) baby has been feeding all night! Well, kind of in half hour bursts on, then half hour sleeping. So I am tired!! Glad he's feeding but hope I can catch up on some sleep soon.

Grin at your waters story, slouching! Mine went spontaneously this time (not last time) and they had a very distinctive smell. I remember a midwife on OBEM describing the smell - kind of sweetish - and saying she smelt it randomly in supermarkets sometimes! Anyway...

Hoping everyone stays cool, calm & collected today Wink

shelley72 · 08/07/2013 09:18

Congratulations on your new arrivals to dinky, pinkballetflats, citizen, calm, mystery and anyone else I've forgotten over the weekend Smile. does seem that everyone is having lovely straightforward births. Long may that continue!

Am having yet another lazy morning in bed trying to coax F into feeding. She's is so reluctant to feed, most unlike dd1 who would be at the boob 24 hours a day if allowed. my bf tutor is phoning later so hope she has some ideas as I'm running out. Then off to register the birth and hopefully quick trip to the shops if I can make it that far. Still feeling very sore but annoyed that I'm missing the gorgeous weather.

Thinkingof4 · 08/07/2013 09:32

Congratulations dinky 3 boys is a lovely family.

I'm now in my worst case scenario, school and nursery closed, childminder on holiday and 6 days overdue. Oh and the heat wave. Induction not for another 8 days so it could be a loooong week. Been up for 3 hours and all I seem to have done so far is shout Sad
Just feel like crying but can't do that in front of the boys. Most of my friends and neighbours are away as well as its start of school holidays here.
Sorry for moany post I just feel miserable at the moment

40+6

VinegarDrinker · 08/07/2013 09:53

Sending many sympathies your way Thinking - I thought we hadn't heard from you in a little while and was hoping things were moving for you. Frustrating. Have the kids finished for the summer already? Can you chuck them out in the garden?

I'm delaying going to the MW clinic this morning. We need to go because B needs weighing and her heelprick test, but I know the MWs will panic because she is still having greenish poos and today is day 6 so should definitely be yellow by now. But she is so well otherwise, alert, happy, not lethargic, plenty of wet nappies and my instinct is she is absolutely fine.

Maybe I am just being too relaxed/complacent though, especially given the tongue tie... Hopefully she'll have gained weight.

esme80 · 08/07/2013 09:56

Oh thinking Ive been struggling and moaning about having DS to take care of while overdue, cant imagine having 3 at home. The heat is driving me crazy too. Induction for me in 7 days. Doesnt sound like long, but doesnt it feel like an eternity? We will get through it!

Abzs · 08/07/2013 10:12

Congratulations dinky!

Runswithsquirrels · 08/07/2013 10:15

Okay, decision made. I'm saying no to the S&S after doing extra reading up on it, but I do have my reflexology booked at lunchtime so we'll see what that does!
TMI Down below has already had a little, ahem, clear out today so I'll take that as a good sign.
Congratulations to all the new arrivals - it really is bizarre to wake up and find more and more babies born!

evelynj · 08/07/2013 10:20

Dinky-congrats to you! Super well done & agree that he sounds a very accomodating little chap!

Thinking, that's rubbish-is there anyone you can have a playdate with & just kind of watch the kids while someone else does the hard work? I'm struggling to entertain DS without playgroup-tomorrow's activity is the asda delivery coming-not sure how exciting I can make that sound?!

Slouching-That's so funny, my dh would be the same-I think he just likes to wind me up! Think this baby is huffing with me about complaining about all the moving as I haven't had the usual crazy disco dancing this morning-had a few movements but not as many as normal & starting to get paranoid-off to research now as I don't want to rush to hospital in a panic.

I also have the unpleasant sweatiness every time I get up-not looking forward to hospital in this heat.

Vinegar-tell the mw your instinct, they may be fine although I know how hard it is with them, I feel they're like the strictest teachers from school sometimes!

Have good days all!

38 weeks today, woo hoo!

Abzs · 08/07/2013 10:25

vinegar That's what is flagged on my bf assessment. Done yesterday- day 5. Cmw in again tomorrow so will recheck. Nothing about her demeanour suggested I should worry, but she didn't say anything straight out, just ticked the 'suggestive of a problem' box on the form.

J obviously read his notes, as he pooed like a star afterwards. Mostly on dh Grin

VinegarDrinker · 08/07/2013 10:46

Oh that's good to know Abz - I'm wondering if she is deliberately having more foremilk because of the heat ... hence green poos.

TotallyEggFlipped · 08/07/2013 10:53

Good luck at the weigh-in, Vinegar!

Abzs Grin at J pooing on DH

I'm really hoping we manage to get DD2 onto Britsh Summer Time soon. I don't know how many more nights of 'I'm wide awake, feed me' time being 10pm -3am I can take, particularly as DD1 usually wakes up for the day between 5 and 6.

Grannyapple · 08/07/2013 11:20

Ooh dinky I've got reflexology booked for Thursday afternoon...might be tempting fate as I had some during labour last time to help contractions along (& DS arrived 5 mins later!).

Picking sis up from airport on Friday, so hoping bubba stats put til she at least arrives, lol! SIL is a mw & she thinks I'm tempting fate ha ha!

Congrats everyone on the new arrivals...I'm struggling to remember who's who & tie in with the fb group!

MummyKanny · 08/07/2013 12:18

Ooh congratulations to all the new arrivals! How lovely, hope you are all doing really well.

thinking - you poor thing! Sending lots of Brew and Biscuit.

38+4 for me. Second week of maternity leave and I'm LOVING it. Have managed to get lots of admin done and the flat is a lot tidier. I had a lovely massage on a table with a hole in it for my bump - to lie on my front was incredible!

Not really sleeping in the heat so have a chilled day planned. Have just printed off my birth plan and look forward to not following one tiny bit of it, from all accounts! Smile

Eek good luck to all those with inductions booked. I'm hoping baby isn't too late, have some acupuncture planned and will look into reflexology too. I wonder if I can start on the raspberry leaf tea?

Persuasion · 08/07/2013 14:17

thinking and esme you must be saints looking after little ones while overdue. I'm finding it's hard enough and it's my first, I can't imagine coping with another dc as well, let alone three Shock

kanny I really enjoyed that bit of mat leave, take advantage! Your massage sounds lovely.

SlouchingPanda · 08/07/2013 15:18

Thinking - sorry you're having such a rubbish time and hope that your day improved a little. I think I would probably have a sense of humour failure if I had to do anything much in this heat let alone look after three children! If it's any consolation I am finding this final stretch the s-l-o-w-e-s-t part of pregnancy so far!

MummyKanny your massage sounds lovely. I think I need one of those tables so I can lie in the garden and tan my back! I'm wondering if I peaked too early with my pedicure at 38+6... will my feet still look nice when this baby actually decides to make an appearance? (I know no-one really cares apart from me!).

Just been to pick up a sling for a fiver. Love Gumtree. It's a Red Kite one and looks pretty reasonable so worth a try.

MightBeMad · 08/07/2013 15:20

Oh bugger! Uti not shifting and now found out it's group b strep so no MLU, no water birth and IV antibiotics and continuous monitoring in labour from the start. Cue new worries about baby's health and getting to hospital in time for the antibiotics to take effect :(

SundaySunshine · 08/07/2013 15:23

Ah congratulations to dinky, calm and citizen hope you and new babes are all doing well.

Thankfully we have the house to ourselves at last and our 'helpful' relatives have gone home. dinky yes it might seem an obvious thing for them to entertain DD but seems like drinking tea, making a mess and generally being demanding was higher on their agenda!

I survived the school run today, and lil one enjoyed his first spin in his buggy, and I have since spent the afternoon chilling / sleeping. So far so good Grin

vinegar this little man is wearing a vest and a sleep suit with one layer of cotton blanket. It sounds alot but we have all the windows open and there is a nice breeze that is keeping upstairs lovely a cool. Not sure on temp though.

Right got to go and get house straight before DD gets home. Best wishes to all, I hope this weather isn't too hot for those of you still waiting.

dinkystinky · 08/07/2013 15:24

Afternoon all - have had a snooze with my new little boy and feel like a new woman.

Shelley - hope you managed to convince F to feed and you're feeling better now re getting out and about.

Vinegar - good luck with the weighing. If B is putting on weight and happy and content otherwise, I'd hope the MW/HV would take a sensible approach re the colour of the poos. It was boiling on the birth centre last night as the air conditioning had broken down and DS3 slept in just a nappy and thin muslin swaddle which seemed about right. Given its soo hot, v common for babies to have more foremilk for thirst than feeding and to end up with greenish poos as a result.

Abzs - love that J decided to poo on DH just to prove something to the MW/HV!

Thinking, Esme - hugs. Its hard enough being hugely pregnant in this heat, let alone trying to entertain little boys (be it one or 3) on your own! I vote let everything on the house front slide and go find the nearest beach or shady woodland area with a breeze the 4 of you can go chill out on tomorrow - get the boys to put together a picnic and have fun.

MummyKanny - glad you're enjoying Maternity Leave and being so productive with your nesting. I dont think the MW had time to even look at my birth plan yesterday as it all happened so quick but it was good my doula and DH had looked at it as they could respectfully say no to student MW/gas and air offer on my behalf. Now is a good time to start on the RLT.

Quick run down of birth story - DH made dinner and we were having it last night at 8ish when first contractions, 30 seconds long and 7 minutes apart, hit. After half an hour, they were 5 mins apart and lasting for up to a minute - called doula (stuck in france), back up doula (who had to sort out childcare before coming over) and birth centre (who said to call back in an hour) and nanny (who packed a bag and poddled on over). By the time our back up doula arrived, they were every 1.5 to 2 minutes and lasting 1.5 minutes long. DH drove us to birth centre and dropped doula and I off by the entrance to the birth centre and drove off to find somewhere to park (among the many paparazzi vans with huge satellite dishes around there) - contractions coming thick and fast so took me 5 minutes to walk the short distance to make it into the birth centre (with scared man running off to find porter and wheelchair and doula chasing them away as I was adamant I'd make it on my own) - at birth centre, they took one look at me and ushered me straight to birth room where they were filling the pool already. I said I needed the loo - went and sat on loo and waters went with a pop and head was ready to come out. MW was v calm and said fine, lets have this baby now - no time for monitoring etc. Baby started to crown as I was trying to climb into the pool and gave birth to Jackson Rivan (third name to follow when DS1 and DS2 have chosen it), 8 lb 7 oz and a big head (!), at 11.34pm about 5 minutes after entering the birth centre. He had a good wail, had a good wee on me (which was when I discovered he was a boy) and then a lovely long skin to skin cuddle with me while waiting for the placenta to be delivered, after which DH cut the cord. As the birth was so fast, I tore along the lines of my previous tear from DS1's birth so have a second degree tear, but I was mentally prepared for that to happen and the MW was great at stitching it up. DH and I stayed overnight with Jackson at the birth centre (which was boiling!) then had new baby checks, hearing check and TB jab this morning then made our way home in time for DS2 coming back from nursery. DS2 adores his little brother - DS1 should be home soon to meet him. Jackson's very sleepy and doing an excellent popeye the sailor man impression today with one eye squinted shut when awake - am going to have to look out a little baby pipe and spinach tin transfer for him Grin

Runswithsquirrels · 08/07/2013 15:25

Slouching I see your pedicure and raise you eyelash extensions. It's been two weeks now and they are shedding! So much for looking naturally glamorous in my post birth shots, I'm more likely to look patchy!
