Totally - re sleepy babies during day - try to differentiate day and night as much as possible. Keep lights dim at night, quick feed and back to bed - no change unless absolutely needed. During day, get out for some sun and fresh air (though all the stimulation may well make them sleep too) - change nappies (even if they're asleep) every 3 hours or so -should wake them up and all the yelling should make for a hungry baby Grin Or just embrace the antipodean phase - it will pass soon.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 07/07/2013 10:50

Runs - you'll be 41 weeks wont you? I'd go with the sweep if your cervix looks favourable (and combined with the reflexology might help things along) - if not, then no point in thinking about it. As ways of triggering off labour go, its fairly minor and if baby isnt ready to come, wont work (I had 3 with DS1 between 40 weeks and 42 weeks and none of them worked - the child clearly was not for moving Grin). If baby is ready to come, then it will give them a nudge.

Glad you got some well overdue good night's sleep in Slouching and Persuasion - bet you both feel like different women today! We're off to a picnic at the boys school in the Greenspace (outdoor classroom which ds2 in particular adores) to celebrate 5 years of it being open later this morning - should be fun. And this afternoon will be spent with the paddling pool again I think.

Persuasion · 07/07/2013 10:54

Ooooh congrats citizen! It's been a busy 24 hours for babies, Let's hope it carries on like this!

Phie try not to panic! When I get anxious I think about how amazing my body has been in getting this far and remind myself there's no reason labour should be any different. I also try to remind myself that everyone on the planet has been born successfully (sounds stupid but works for me!) and really there's no reason to think I will have it any easier or harder than others.

evelynj · 07/07/2013 10:59

Congrats Sunday & Citizen, sounds like 2 moe happy stories-sounds like we all more or less had better sleep last night-how odd. I didn't wake til 7 (then dozed on til 9.30!)

Makes me quite optimistic for the day ahead as opposed to my normal morose self every morning for the last week or so. I also think it's better that everyone 'expects' to be fairly lazy on Sundays so feel more on a par with normal folk iykwim.

Thanks for the tips on not changing bums at nightimes etc-noting it all down!

I've had non stop pins & needles in my swollen hands recently & even tho it's probably the least of my worries, it's really starting to piss me off.

Aim for today is to paint 2 bedside drawers with blue Annie Sloan chalk paint. Never used the stuff before so nervous & excited!

Have good days all :)

MrsMillions · 07/07/2013 11:12

Congratulations in the latest flurry of arrivals and thank-you Sunday for the "come on babies" shout.

If the "being busy" thing is going to work for me today might be the day as have final NCT this afternoon and tennis on sky+ - hoping to dodge the score and watch "as live" when we get back, which DH has been known to do with football. Would be quite happy to have that distract me during early labour. Otherwise need to make some plans for this week!

After talking of baking for days I finally have banana-choc-fudge cupcakes in the oven. Bit of an adaptation from Nigella. Talking of whom, this whole Charles Saatchi saying he's divorcing her in a Sunday paper, before telling her, is a bit odd. Was expecting her to initiate proceedings. But haven't read any of it, just heard headlines on the news.

GeorgieWilson · 07/07/2013 11:52

I'm rubbish at posting but always keep up to date with the thread.
Wow I can't believe how many babies have arrived already. Congratulations to you all - you all sound like you are doing fantastic and am loving all the tips and knowing that its ok to have overwhelmed times! All this talk of fast births is giving me hope too!
Laughed alot at all the DP swapping, if anyone wants one that will watch any sport at all mine is perfect - quite seriously told me that it was essential to watch the Lions yesterday!
Its my due date today - according to scans but I'm praying that junior stays in one more day as I really want to watch the tennis this afternoon. I also have horrendous cold and sore throat - in the hottest weather ever! - which I really want to clear up before birth!
Sympathies to everyone who is fed up of other peoples comments - dp's mother (who I don't know that well and haven't seen for a couple of months due to distance) told me last week that I'm definitely having a girl as I've put lots of weight on everywhere - cheers for that!

BB01 · 07/07/2013 12:15

Congrats to all the new mummies and welcome to all the new babies!! Phie, even if the birth goes completely differently to how you'd like (and mine certainly did - all the midwives still keep commenting on how traumatic it sounds!!) you'll be surprised at how you get through it. I had points of wanting to give up but it passes and you just get on with it and it is so so worth it! And the support I got from all the medical staff made it so much nicer. People are all rooting for you and will make it as good an experience for you as they can even if things don't go to plan.

TotallyEggFlipped · 07/07/2013 13:01

Congratulations, Citizen!

Midwife came round this morning for day 6 visit. I was a bit worried because DD had lost 8% of her (not very big) birthweight on day 3. Anyway, she is now over her birthweight! Grin So the hourly BF overnight was worth it.

dinkystinky · 07/07/2013 14:12

Hurrah for dd2 putting on weight Totally!

OP posts:
esme80 · 07/07/2013 14:36

Congrats Citizen!

And well done baby eggflipped for the weight gain!

Georgie what is it with these inlaws? My FIL didnt say anything yesterday, just pointed at my stomach and laughed. I may as well mention that hes not the most thoughtfull of people at the best of times. MIL gave him a look though, so think he got an earful on the way home.

Everyone enjoying the tennis? Got my fan on, pineapple out, bouncing on ball and cheering Murray on!

Thinkingof4 · 07/07/2013 15:00

Esme I'm watching it too, very exciting so far! Murray doing well so far.

Congratulations to citizen and sunday ! Busy thread with all these babies at the moment!

totally that's great re weight gain, makes all that hard work worthwhile Grin

runs I'm with you on the fed up waiting thing! I've had a second sweep and if you are favourable tomorrow then you've nothing to lose by having one. Not the most pleasant thing in the world but certainly not terrible

Well I hope everyone is either enjoying tennis or sunshine (or both)
Dh is annoyed with me because I said I didn't want him to run his half marathon today Shock I do sometimes wonder what planet he is on

40+5

dinkystinky · 07/07/2013 15:05

I darent watch Thinking and Esme - too much excitement for me in this heat! Can't begin to imagine how the players must be feeling - its sweltering! Went to the kids green space picnic this morning and have a friend and kids coming round for Pimms and paddling pool action shortly - that's as much excitement as I can deal with right now!

OP posts:
esme80 · 07/07/2013 15:12

runs I didnt get a sweep last week in the end, but going for one on thursday, will be 41+1, if nothing by then. Never yad one, but Im getting to point of doing anything to get this baby out now.

pocopearl · 07/07/2013 15:35

Hi can I be added

Pocopearl DC1 - 18/7/2013

TotallyEggFlipped · 07/07/2013 16:03

esme - I hope MIL gave him hell on the way home Wink

Thinking - what is it with men? It's too freaking hot for a half marathon anyway! He can always do another race, but you're only going to be giving birth to this baby once (thank f**k!)

Welcome pocopearl

I hope any babies who want to make an appearance today wait until the end of the tennis when it'll hopefully be a bit cooler.

wavesandsmiles · 07/07/2013 16:39

Congratulations to all the new arrivals! It is both exciting and scary to be hearing actual real birth stories....

I am shattered and planning just to draw a mind map for my planned birth during the rest of today, even though the understairs cupboard is tormenting me with whispers of it wanting to be sorted out. I've sorted out, cleaned and tidied pretty much everything else, so it really is one of the last remaining spaces I can "nest". DCs are both out to play, so a beautiful bit of quiet time for me Smile

Only 2 weeks of having to do packed lunches, wash school uniforms, and nag about homework, then lazy lie ins can commence. 36 + 5 and so very nearly at full term. I am so looking forward to (a) newborn cuddles (b) being able to actually eat properly again (c) having the PICC line out and therefore being able to have a proper soak in the bath and a swim!

Hope everyone is surviving the heat today

McKTastic · 07/07/2013 17:25

Murray! Murray! Murray! GrinGrinGrin

esme80 · 07/07/2013 17:34

Goooo Murray! If the excitement of that doesnt put us into labour I dont know what will!

dinkystinky · 07/07/2013 17:57

Wowsers what a match! I forsee a flurry of babies arriving tonight after all that excitement!

Wecome pocopearl - just copy and paste the latest list and add yourself in.

Yeeehaa! What a match! And I didn't miss it by being in labour!! Any time now baby....

dinkystinky · 07/07/2013 18:17
