Cheese congratulations and thank you for sharing such a lovely birth story.

Sounds like our morning bake club is gradually turning into a morning BF club. Sending huge amounts of sympathy to everyone with sore nipples and wakeful babies, and very much hoping I join you soon!

Photographer sounds exciting. I was up with similar backache all night just before DS turned up. When DH woke up I complained of regular
back spasms and ranted about how was I going to cope in labour if my back was killing me this much. Had no other signs, but on speaking to the midwife it turns out I'd be in labour all night!

Icing I hope you manage to get some fluid down you. Let us know how you're doing today. Tom are you feeling any better?

Persuasion brilliant news on the show. I agree isn't it strange we're all getting excited about gunk, and aches and pains Smile

Evelyn your reflexology sounds lovely.

Slouching you've made me laugh so much with your DH swap offer. Clearly he needs a nose upgrade! I suggest waking him up with the smell of fresh baby poo asap to reset the smell sensors Grin

Thinking still nothing happening here I'm afraid, and judging by all the feed back on induction dates (thank you) it looks like I may end up braving the NHS next weekend. I know I've still got ages to go but I just have a feeling that this baby is really quite comfortable and in no rush to say hello. Sounds like you might be at the start of something though, which is exciting. Sunshine any signs for you?

Dinky I hope you're having a more relaxed day today before the madness of tomorrow and fingers crossed your DHs deal goes through and doesn't stretch into Monday.

Deary me playing catch up again, you ladies TALK!

BB01 congratulations on getting off home with Rosie & the weight gain!

Marie the bouncing didn't do much at all. Come on baby!! Sad

Lovely to hear you've had a nice late weekend scout!

Hehe at slouching on bulk buying maternity pads, at least your feet look super glam whilst doing it! Wink

Dinky sounds like a very modern version of Cinderella!

Cheese congratulations!! What a great birth story! I hope you enjoy being at home with your new little girl! Hehe at her initials that's lovely!

Icing I hope you're feeling better now & managed to get some sleep.

Slouching those muffins sound delicious! Wish I could be baking but unfortunately like icing I'm out of butter & I have to wait in all day for furniture to be delivered. Sad

Congratulations on the show persuasion, fx it's the start of something!

Hoping the long absence of tryiton means she's off giving birth to a beautiful baby!

I will offer up my boyfriend for husband swapping if anyone wants a patronising lazy 22 year old! (He isn't that bad I promise) Bit obsessed with cars & sometimes it's like looking after a child but he is fabulous, like massaging my back when I can't get comfy in bed, & bringing me cake when I'm crazy hormonal & singing to my bump. However like Sunday's he has a fear of vegetables!

Today I am waiting in for furniture all day, ironing & putting away baby things, when I can find my motivation!!

Congratulations Cheese - I do love the name!

My OH is pretty good, but I'm willing to trade him in during the Formula One season (which seems to get longer every year) as our TV is permanently on Motorsport of any kind and it drives me mad. Otherwise he's pretty superb, although I have been irritated with him over the last few days which I'm taking as an early labour sign. I'll take any sign right now!

No early morning baking for me today - I'm out of storage containers so will just have to do some serious eating before whipping up another batch!

I've booked in for reflexology on Monday, after the midwife appointment where I will turn down a S&S. So, by Sod's law she should come before then!

TotallyEggFlipped · 05/07/2013 11:46

Icing - sounds like your reflux is really bad! I was almost aspirating every night about 45 minutes after falling asleep at the end. The only thing that helped was sleeping almost upright, using almost all the pillows in the house. DH said it was really scary listening to the reflux then having me wake up choking. Fortunately it disappeared completely after giving birth. Gaviscon helped a bit, but not much.

shelley72 · 05/07/2013 12:11

goodness lots of catching up to do! Congrats to you cheese, sounds like you had a positive birth. hope you're enjoying those snuggles.

Sympathies to all those in the sore nipple club. No one ever tells you how hard it can be at first, all of the books etc make it look so easy. I'm having trouble getting f to latch on, she really is a reluctant feeder. hoping for a 're weigh today just for peace of mind really. Sounds like everyone is doing well though. It will get easier! Can't remember who has gone dairy free but it really can make a difference, though of course always good to check with medical types - you will need to supplement your calcium too.

Am also booking an osteo for F, have been before with both of mine as trends to be good for breech babies. Saying that she is the most chilled and settled baby of the three by far and don't want to jinx that.

Not having much luck with the post natal clothes, indeed my jeans cut into my scar and the rather attractive overhang I now have. Have one maxi dress that I can feed in so that will have to do for a while at least weather is good for it.

Got out yesterday for an hour or so which was good for me (and dd1) but was exhausted afterwards. Really want to be up and out doing things but I suppose I need to listen to my body.

Good luck to those who seem to be having pre labour symptoms, there will be a few arrivals this weekend I reckon..

tryitonforsize · 05/07/2013 13:14

Hi all

Just home from hospital with a new baby boy - 'arrived' at 4.07am this morning to a soundtrack of blood curdling screams (mine). So, so, so happy that labour is over... at one point I considered just throwing myself out of the window to end the misery for us all... but the end result does make it worthwhile (just Hmm). He is a bit squashed but we love him anyway!

Haven't had time to catch up on the thread yet so don't know if anybody else has been in their own version of labour hell but fingers crossed the outies will be rolling in thick and fast!

tryitonforsize · 05/07/2013 13:22

Aaaah - cheese - I see you got in slightly ahead of me. Congrats! Also have a second degree tear which is a bit disappointing but better than the 3rd degree one I had last time around - OUCH! Still can't quite believe I have a baby at home with me...

PhieEl06 · 05/07/2013 13:26

Aww congratulations tryiton, hehe everyone has been so positive about birth so far, ahh well at least it's over & done with for you now. I hope you enjoy being home with your little boy & manage to get some rest!

tryitonforsize · 05/07/2013 13:27

Sorry cheese - losing my mind due to lack of sleep... wasn't you who mentioned the tear. Right, I'm off to catch up on some zzzz before sleeping beauty wakes up and no doubt wants to play all night!

tryitonforsize · 05/07/2013 13:29

Sorry, yes phie - you're right, I shouldn't be negative about it. Not fair on those going into it for the first time... and it is such an individual, personal experience. So I should clarify my comments... MY labour was pretty dire but I know many others who have had wonderful births...

PhieEl06 · 05/07/2013 14:05

Hehehe no no tryiton it gives a more realistic aspect to it! I think whether a positive or negative experience as long as you are happy with it & the final outcome that's all that is really important. (IMO if anyone else feels differently I am sorry) Smile

Thinkingof4 · 05/07/2013 14:07

Congratulations tryiton I bet in a few days you'll have forgotten the intensity of your labour and be willing to do it all again... Hope you are settling back home ok and enjoying your wee boy

Still nothing more happening here...so who's next on the July thread!!

MarieKL · 05/07/2013 14:08

Tryitonforsize great news and glad you're back home already. Sorry to hear you found the labour hard. Does your baby boy have a name?

IcingTheCake · 05/07/2013 14:08

Congratulations tryiton Smile im actually glad you were honest and didnt sugar coat it Smile as you say, the end result is still worth it!

Good to hear the reflux goes post pregnancy! Smile extra swollen fingers and ankles today! Midwife said as long as baby is still moving as normal then just wait and see what my bp is at my check up on Tuesday! Hopefully that'll be my last appointment (famous last words?)

Off to get some butter to make a summer fruit cake today! Smile

lancslass83 · 05/07/2013 15:04

Congrats to cheese and tryit, glad it's all finished for you (well the labour bit anyway)and you've got newborn snuggles for compensation.
Have been put off sweet things for life after that horrid GTT drink - think may have to convert next baking to something savoury.
Can't decide if I want to trade my dh or not, intermittently very caring and offering foot massages etc but a bit too keen this week to make the most of the last week before I've made him promise to not be over the drink drive limit!
Loving the birthing hypnotherapy - used it to calm me down re all tests and stop me being sick at GTT, worked a treat so much more relaxed about the whole thing - what will be will be and as long as sprog ok I can accept whatever I'm advised to do.

PhieEl06 · 05/07/2013 15:35

Lancslass my OH has taken to enjoying the last of his baby free days with alcohol, however he has been forewarned that if he's drunk when I go into labour I will never ever forgive him.

BadMissM · 05/07/2013 15:45

Congrats to cheese and tryiton Horray for you and you have the lovely newborn snuggles too!

Reflux from hell here too, combined with the SPD no damn sleep at all. Just found out from insurers bloke who hit our car in March was lying about positively everything- gave wrong reg, wrong insurer, and now taxi company saying he didn't work for them either...... so will be months and months not days for payout, now DH has booked hols/paternity leave thinking we would have the money. Am so annoyed because we will be stuck here for weeks now with no holiday, and DH never gets holidays, and they will all be wasted because of this lying git. Without it we won't be going anywhere, and I was so looking forward to actually being able to see friends and family abroad for once...I'd like to know what the Police are doing about it.... (nothing).

We still haven't even had the payout from the accident two years ago. All they do is up our insurance payments and never resolve.

Am feeling like crap and can't stop crying today.....attempted to put up moses basket stand and gave up, and still have all the court docs somehow for DH being taken to court by his ex to do...before Monday. The court 'forgot' to send us the letter saying they should have been exchanged last week. Just wish I didn't get left to sort everything. Mind you, left him to sort out insurance things, and look what happened.....

BadMissM · 05/07/2013 15:47

Oh yes... I'm being admitted Monday for steroids/balancing with blood sugars, and then being kept in til Wednesday for the ELCS. Then potentially out Saturday.... not sure I'll be able to post, don't have clever phone.....

IcingTheCake · 05/07/2013 15:54

Sorry to hear things are being a bit crap for you at the moment badmiss at least youll have a little baby next week to distract you from the rubbishy things, sorry youre getting reflux too, its horrible isnt it! Wish i had advice for you but I have no idea im just muddling through it x

TotallyEggFlipped · 05/07/2013 16:28

Congratulations, tryiton! Sorry to hear your labour was a bit of a nightmare, but it's over now, you're home with your baby boy & it's great that you didn't tear as badly as last time - so there are positives!

BadMiss - I don't know how you're holding it together. Half of the crap you're dealing with is more than enough for anyone. Never mind the pregnancy on top of it all. At least you know there's a baby coming that you can cuddle every time you need cheering up. Babies are magic (despite what you may think after a poonami.)

dinkystinky · 05/07/2013 16:35

Afternoon all. Congrats on your baby boy Tryiton - you definitely beat me to the finish line! And once you've had some sleep hopefully your memories of the birth will fade away - or become abit more rose tinted. Let me know his weight and name and will add to stats list.

Lancslass - yes the gtt drink is truly horrible! Glad the hypnobirthing is helping you be Zen about stuff - I found it great for fear release when I had ds2.

Thinking - those flower visualisations never did it for me. I used to envisage an umbrella unfurling for the deluge of waters :-) terribly British no?

Runs - yup, baby will be here this weekend on that basis. Hope the novel is going well.

Icing - try crunching crushed ice instead of water and stats if that stays down at night. Otherwise only drink enough to wet your mouth - should avoid the vom reflex.

Shelley - glad you got out for about. Take it nice and slow. After ds1 I wore lots of loose tracksuit bottoms (borrow dh's if need be) and vest tops for the first few weeks - is that an option for you?

Evelyn - ds1 was lodged in the birth canal for a good few hours due to medical mismanagement - his head had a huge groove along it when he came out - and he inhaled meconium due to medical mismanagement too - cranial osteopath helped with reducing his pain, remoulding his head to right shape and helping get his diaphragm back down to right place - and stopped him being the velcro baby he was for the first few weeks of his life. Ds2 had a fast birth but the cord was wrapped around his neck and caused some trauma to his abdomen - he had reflux/trapped wind and cranial osteopathy helped reduce those symptoms too. If your baby has forceps or ventouse its a good idea to think about it.

Marie - not so much relaxing as productive day. Waddled over to Primrose Hill for pregnancy yoga lunch and a potter around with an icecream from fab italian place near our old flat that way then waddled back, picking up last few baby supplies (including jelly bellies from our local Holland + Barrett - essential bf food I find:-) ) and am now sat home watching Peter Rabbit with ds2 while ds1 (who is in disgrace for singing a rude song at assembly - had to work very hard not to smile when he told me he was singing London's Bummimg instead of London's burning - he has no idea what it means) is off at karate. Dh's deal due to close today with any luck...

Xposted with BadmissM - I am so sorry you're having such a mare. I'd definitely be following up with the police - I'm sure giving false information at an accident is an offence. With all the tribunal and dh paperwork you're having to deal with, you're probably as experienced as most lawyers by now! Just keep telling yourself at least the end is in sight with your pregnancy related woes...

Congrats to you tryiton on your baby boy. Those cuddles will soon fade the nightmare of labour for you.

dinky you have such a busy day planned that you are bound to go into labour, no? Do you know there are not a single pair of jogging bottoms in this house (I'm exercise averse Blush). Dh is a runner / squash player but in shorts and I'm not sure the world is ready for me in shorts yet! Put on my jojo wrap top today, but it looks rather sad without my bump padding it out.

badmissm sorry you're having a rubbish time. trouble you could do without at the best of times, never mind when you are about to give birth. Not long now though..

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather. Wish I had the energy for the beach !

Thinkingof4 · 05/07/2013 17:11

Btw anyone else watching the tennis? It's amazing!!!
Best I've ever seen

Persuasion · 05/07/2013 17:27

Congratulations tryiton! I think honesty about birth stories is necessary, we all know it's going to hurt, but the point is you survived, and without too bad a tear.

Amusingly my phone now predicts that I want to type an asterisk after I write congratulations!

Sorry you're having a rubbish time badmiss. I don't have any helpful advice but think you're doing amazingly to cope with all that at the moment. I hope things get easier for you soon.

thinking I'm also watching the tennis on my ball with a cup of rlt between doing the hoovering. I'm enjoying it a lot, and it's taking my mind off the fact that there's nothing progressing here either!
