Bb01 - trying sitting up dd to wind her after she drops off after 5 mins - often as not their eyes pop open like a toy dolls.

Hi all, have been skimming to catch up and loving the news of all the new babies Smile Juno is a lovely name cheese reminds me of the movie (which I loved). Really appreciating all the tips being exchanged, making a note of the arnica, salt and comfrey in particular dinky - think those are worth getting in in advance and if I don't need them, well, I'll consider myself lucky and not be bothered about having stocked up!

M/W confirmed yesterday that although the baby's head is in my pelvis, it's not engaged. Shouldn't it be already at 38 weeks (for a first timer)? Had a bit of a look at spinning babies and advice all very complicated. I wonder if bouncing on the ball helps or whether it's just one of those things, it may or it may not happen before labour kicks off ... ?

whitedaffodil · 05/07/2013 06:56

Oh, I don't know if I missed a conversation about it on this thread but was quite shocked by the stories about bounty photographers (there is mention of a campaign against them on the main site www.mumsnet.com ). I'll be packing a safety pin in the hospital bag to attach a note to my curtain saying "not to be disturbed by bounty" !!!

Persuasion · 05/07/2013 07:34

Congratulations cheese, it's great to hear your birth story.

Slouching you are much too productive! I didn't have a great night but can never be bothered getting out of bed!

Marie they induce at +12 here too.

Evelyn I'm totally with you on just getting the baby out and not really thinking about afterwards anymore.

Icing if you can't keep water down even, I would see the gp, it may be that you've got DHs bug after all? I hope it's not though, and it's all because you're about to go into labour, but still worth getting checked out.

My exciting news is that I had a show last night Grin I've never been so excited by something so gross in my life. Nothing has really followed overnight but it has made me hopeful that maybe something will start soon.

dinkystinky · 05/07/2013 07:37

Walking and ball rolling (back and forwards) will help baby descend whitedaffodil. Don't worry - ds2 wasn't engaged till labour and this one isn't engaged yet either

Exciting, Persuasion. Fingers crossed.....

whitedaffodil · 05/07/2013 08:12

Thanks dinky. best get on that ball ...

good news from persuasion. Show and waters breaking seem like really concrete signs, unlike the mysterious twinges that could be contractions starting or just BH twinges or indigestion !

photographerlady · 05/07/2013 08:45

What a night. I feel awful with back ache and cramps. I lye down and they start and when I stand up and walk they ease. It's a bit annoying as it seems more of a sleeping issues than labour signs. My poor pelvis will never forgive me.

Cheese congrats and thanks so much for sharing your story!

Exciting news persuasion

Icing have you tried really diluted juice? I see the GP as its going to be so hot this weekend you don't wanna dehydrate.

MrsMillions · 05/07/2013 08:45

Congrats cheese and welcome Juno, lovely name and thank-you for sharing your birth story.

No word from tryiton? Hope that means she's busy either labouring or snuggling a newborn.

Sounds like a few of you are in the race to be next.

Oooh I forgot I have that Green & Blacks book too...may have to consult it. First up, shower and breakfast.

princessllama · 05/07/2013 08:51

Good plan whitedaffodil, and if tgat doesnt work you could alwats poke them with the safety pin.
Cheese- well done many congratulations. I love that name too- brilliant! Re breastfeeding- she sounds like she would really benefit from a trip to a good cranial osteopath- i specialise in babies and pg women and kids and she sounds like she would really improve with 1-2 treatments, if you want i can recommend someone. At the moment my nipples arent too bad thank god but i do remember with the other two crying as they latched on and doing breathing like i was in labour. I am sending deep sympathy to you and all in the sore nipple club.
Persuasion well done on finishing the paper. A triumph at this stage.
I wonder how siobahn and oliver is today?
And hopefully try it will have had her baby
We have had almost a week back home. I am so happy with my lovely baby( even if he is v spotty today and quite tango coloured). I am bf and have cut out dairy and soya because of his reflux- slightly killing me but worth it. Our freezer is completely full of ready meals containing dairy from kind friends and one drawer full of my milk. Dont have the heart to tell my mates! My cousin is bringing a fish pie round today for the freezer and i have no idea where to put it. I am still in maternity clothes but some are now falling down ( taking. My knickers with them ...) so i am working my way backwards through pg clothes that got too tight- not attempting pre pg jeans yet though- respect to totally!
Lancslass- i hope things turn out ok, if your liver enzymes are up maybe they'll induce next week. My obstetrician said often if liver enz are up you go into labour early as your body realises it's best for you and the baby so maybe you'll be next. Hope you're feeling ok
Dinky i think you live near to where i am, i'm not far from dock kitchen. Glad you got through sports day, i've got dd's today- might turn into norks day as wont be taking humphrey and my breasts will go pneumatic by time i get to feed him!

BB01 · 05/07/2013 08:52

Dinky - thank you. This seemed to work until today when nothing seems to wake her except getting her tucked up back in bed!

SlouchingPanda · 05/07/2013 09:16

Does anyone want a new husband? Mine is 34 and in reasonable nick, although has a tendency to go on about bikes a bit. Any reasonable offer accepted. He complained this morning that I 'woke him up with the smell of baking' so I think it's time to move on... anyone? Wink

dinkystinky · 05/07/2013 09:21

I echo Princessllamas recommendation for cranial osteopaths - both for baby and you - if you have a difficult birth or an unsettled baby - it makes an amazing difference. Princess - so pleased you're home and Humphrey is well.Respect re cutting out the dairy - a friend of mine did that for her reflux baby and she was super slim again in no time - so cling to that silver lining. I am in Queens Park

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 05/07/2013 09:27

Sorry - posted too soon - so prob not a million miles away from you. Good luck today for sports/norks day. There was a tiny baby atbsportts day yesterday - made me feel quite ready to meet mine!

Bb01 - the important thing to remember with babies is its all just a phase - have you tried undressing her, blowing air on her, making a noise or changing her nappy to wake her up or wiping her face with a bit of water?

OP posts:
TotallyEggFlipped · 05/07/2013 09:36

Slouching - do you want to swap for my DH? He doesn't have a problem sleeping through anything one of us might need to get up for (although he does get occasional insomnia). He occasionally wakes briefly, tries to help in a semi-coma, gets in the way & falls instantly back to sleep. I think the fact that he's been taking double/triple doses of antihistamines isn't helping - he read the packet for the first time last night & realised they're one-a-day (he's a doctor, FFS!) Grin

SundaySunshine · 05/07/2013 09:38

I'll have a new husband!! Not sure it will be a fair swap though! Unemployed balding non-driver with a tendency to hoard. Will definitely not complain about baking though, as long as there are no vegetables involved!

I reckon I'll stick with my longsuffering poor DH - dont think anyone else would put up with me hogging the entire bed and all the pillows (and its a bloody superkingsize bed too!). I dont think your DH recognises what a good thing he's on to with all your baking Slouching - am blaming it on the lack of proper coffee...

Totally - all my medic friends are like your DH - never read the instructions on meds!

OP posts:
Thinkingof4 · 05/07/2013 10:06

I would offer up my dh for a swap based on his snoring but since he bought me chocolate yesterday I think I'll keep him Grin

cheese congratulations and I love the name esp the Joy initials that's so lovely! Your birth sounds really chilled, well done and I hope you are getting lots of rest now

tom is this new nausea? Maybe a sign of things happening?

sunday hope you aren't too fed up waiting. At least you are on July thread not June as I would think they will almost all have had their babies by now!

persuasion I know what you mean about something so gross being so exciting! Hopefully is a sign for you, I had some on Tuesday night but nothing since!

marie I wonder if second sweep is working for you now?

Hope all the new mums are enjoying these first precious days

abzs hope you are home by now

Well today should be the day my baby arrives given my last 2 were 3 days late. I've been to shops to get pineapple no2 and am drinking rlt as I type. It would also be very convenient with regards to childcare so I guess that means it won't happen (by totally's rules anyway Grin

I'm going to listen to my hypnotherapy shortly and do some visualisation (flower bud opening etc- sounds mad but actually seemed to work last time)
I've been getting lots of horrible sharp stabby cervix pains last night and today which may be promising. Had a really sore back again last night but it settled... Time will tell

40+3

Persuasion · 05/07/2013 10:20

I'm glad things are going well princess. Is lovely to hear you sounding so content.

I'm also loving the DH swapping. It sounds like the lack of coffee had got to slouching's DH to me, he's clearly gone mad. I think I'll stick with mine despite the snoring, he did manage to pretend to be excited when I started brandishing my show at him last night Blush

I've made myself sound like some sort of Saint writing this paper yesterday, I must point out I've been putting it off for about a year and it really was only formatting it left to do Blush

I do hope I go into labour soon. My bump is driving me mad itching in the hot weather, and it's not getting any cooler!

Persuasion · 05/07/2013 10:24

Cross posted with thinking. that does sound promising for you. I've also listened to hypnotherapy this morning. Let's how it works for both of us!

CitizenOscar · 05/07/2013 10:29

Whitedaffodil - DS1 never engaged before labour. I think that might have been one of the reasons labour was quite long, but nothing to worry about afaik. DS2 has been engaged for weeks but no sign of actually making an appearance!

IcingTheCake · 05/07/2013 10:53

Cor i fall asleep and you all wake up Wink is it not normal about the water Confused i can keep it down when sitting up just if i lie down to soon after it (anytime between one and about four hours) i can feel it come back up and then im sick Blush ive managed it the past month by keeping well hydrated all day so i dont need to drink before bed and then sleeping propped up on pillows but last night i was just so thirsty!

Re swapping partners, mine also has an interest obsession with bikes! But he is lovely and puts up with all my crap Smile like last night as i walked back into the bedroom at 4:30 my foot somehow collided with the door frame - the whole foot, not just a toe Hmm - and he was very sympathetic to my complaining and tears!

Very exciting for all those getting labour signs, hope this is it for you! Smile

evelynj · 05/07/2013 11:12

Morning all

The husband swapping notes are hilarious-if anyone wants mine he's a kind workaholic but domestically lazy & really needs to pull his finger out & do his driving test, ESP since I'm having a elcs soon! Does occasionally buy me beautiful jewellry out of the blue which he shouldn't be spending money on tho. The could be a whole cathartic thread on discussing dhs & the ups & downs of them. Ooh, we could have a scoring system & vote on best & worst and and and.......I'll stop getting carried away!

Icing-I've been feeling sick a lot but it always stays down. I have to be really propped up in bed now-prac tically upright. Also you can take ranitidine which I've done as a last resort a couple of times. If you can drink milk that may help, or ice cream/fro-yo

Cheese-good luck with the bf, it's tough, one feed at a time

Slouching-those sound like the best muffins ever, I want one!

Persuasion-well done on the show-lol at the excitement for the disgust!

Princessllama-what great friends you have filling your freezer with meals, that's great!

I'm really interested in the cranial osteopath thing-has anyone any further links or things to look out for that would suggest a visit would be helpful to a baby?

I'm addicted to alphabet letters-got 3 bags to see me through a few days ago & already eaten 2. They do make me feel sick though. I've decided I need to stop trying to eat 'meals' as I always feel bad afterward-dirty McDs last night for tea & enjoyed it but so uncomfortable for rest of night so little snacks from here on & dh can fend for himself...

My parents have taken DS to seaside &I'm booked in for reflexology at 12-so excited, woo hoo!

Have wonderful days all! :)
