Runswithsquirrels · 03/07/2013 05:48

Congratulations to the new arrivals.

Well, I went to bed with cramps and have woken with none. And woken far too early again. So I've made muffins and they are currently baking in the oven. If LO does say hello soon at least I will have tasty, homemade snacks and if she doesn't I will still have tasty, homemade snacks!

I hope everyone is having better sleep than me. I'm going to hold on for my second wind of sleep and make the most of it at about nine am!

Silver15 · 03/07/2013 05:49

Totally still no sleep here.

wifey6 · 03/07/2013 05:51

Hello everyone, just a quick 'hello' & to say baby Kyle arrived safely yesterday lunchtime at 39+4 x x

TotallyEggFlipped · 03/07/2013 06:03

Congratulations, wifey!

Jealous of your home-made muffins, Runs. I'm imagining the smell in your kitchen & salivating.

Sorry you didn't get any sleep, Silver - any chance of catching up later?

Runswithsquirrels · 03/07/2013 06:19

Congratulations Wifey!

The only problem with these muffins Totally is that, as I discovered last time I made them, you need to wait a day before eating them to allow the baking powder taste to settle. It's going to be a long day!

TotallyEggFlipped · 03/07/2013 06:28

Oh no, Runs! You'll have to bake a batch every morning to be ready for the next day Wink Maybe you could make a batch to freeze too, for muffin emergencies? I think the smell of freshly baked muffins that I had to wait 24hours for could kill me.

Runswithsquirrels · 03/07/2013 06:34

Well if I keep waking early... And all those people who threaten to visit post baby would at least have something to eat...

dinkystinky · 03/07/2013 06:37

Congrats on baby Kyles arrival Wifey - hope all went smoothly.

Runs - I see you are joining the Wide a bake club! Hope you have a nice nap later. Silver - hope you get a good nap in later.

Cheese - try and get some sleep if you can. Early labour, esp first time, can be abit slow to get going and you need some rest.

OP posts:
evelynj · 03/07/2013 08:36

wifey-congrats on baby Kyle!

Cheese-I agree on the sleep but imagine you're too excited!

Shelley-I think its hilarious that you were withering on about housework throughout cs, hope I'm that relaxed!

Finding it so hard now to get in and out of bed & put on loads more weight in the last week or so even tho everything's making me feel ill.

Effort to eat healthy from now on as low fat diet supposed to help cs recovery, but all this talk of muffins doesnt help!

Play date with some hyper boys today, God help us!

cheekbyjowl · 03/07/2013 09:12

congratulations on the births of kyle and clara and joseph!

cheese and icing hope youre both getting closer now. sounds promising. keep up the bouncing and eating pineapples!

phie what an amazing friend, gift and note! glad you enjoyed your baby shower.

I have a childs foot under my rib cage. it needs to ease on down the road!

on phone. 38+6. 3 more days at work Smile

Runswithsquirrels · 03/07/2013 09:13

Dinky I've been a member of the wide awake club for months, the only difference now is that I don't have to go to work anymore!

Evelyn I'm sure the muffins taste nasty, they're not calling me from the kitchen at all!

MrsRoss26 · 03/07/2013 09:19

Blimey, step away from the thread for a day and it all happens! CONGRATULATIONS on all the shiny new littlies, your birth stories are really lovely to read, and I love all of the names (Clara, Kyle and Florence are sticking out at me - apologies for not more personals).

And Brew Thanks to those of us really suffering in the heat/pressure/nesting with babies keeping us waiting! I hope you all have a huge pile of books / charged kindled etc.Grin I've decided to reread the Harry Potter series to keep me occupied. Next week's heatwave will likely finish a bunch of us off!

For those of you who saw my fb whinge, we finished painting the baby's room yesterday and I love the paint Grin so it was well worth sleeping on the decision, as the colour settled. Looking forward to hanging pictures today. Is it Cheese who's had a show already? Fingers crossed it all happens for you today!

dinkystinky · 03/07/2013 09:34

Runs - I know you've had chronic insomnia for ages, its just the first time you've mentioned joining Shelley and Slouching in producing baked goodies in that bonus extra time in the day you've found :-)

MrsRoss - so pleased you like the colour now. Lighting and accessories make a huge difference to the room too.

Good luck with that play date Evelyn - sounds like you'll need baked goodies to get through it!!

MrsMillions · 03/07/2013 09:45

MrsRoss I'm not even sure you have to be away as long as a day now for it to all happen, these babies really are starting to come all the time. Welcome to Clara, Kyle and Joseph - congratulations mummies!

No post-yoga developments for me this week, maybe it'll be next week. Relaxation was lovely, and good to stretch a bit first. Teacher keeps talking about full moons but don't want to have to wait that long, think it is around 21st? Hope you enjoyed your class too dinky.

DH is working from home most of today so I have some company without needing to go anywhere. He's out at an offsite meeting just round the corner from our house at the mo so I'm bouncing away on my own. Not sure I can face dtd at this size (though am sure he'd love to) though. Last night he asked if it was time for curry yet...might save that for next week as would really like to make it to our last NCT class this weekend.

Runs the discussion about your muffins made me smile, I was just looking at the bunch of very ripe bananas in my kitchen thinking I could make muffins with them and freeze to have ready post-birth.

Determined to crack on with a little actual crafting today (not just Pinterest, my new best friend) so best get started on that first. Am making some storage boxes for baby's room, seem to be not quite as big as I was expecting from pictures online but am sure we'll find a use for them.

SlouchingPanda · 03/07/2013 09:59

Crikey - things are hotting up not we've hit July (and that's before next week's 'heatwave'!). Congratulations to Wifey, Abzs and China - enjoy your new arrivals!

Pleased to see the Wide A-Bake club is flourishing - muffins sound great (although I'm not so sure about this 'leaving for 24h business')... Perhaps a rolling production of muffins is required! I'm panicking after agreeing to produce a meringue my baking nemesis for some visitors over the weekend. Seem to manage to screw it up every time, even when following St Delia to the letter.

Dinky I am sure you are right about the DOK only troubling Londoners with her imminent arrival. I am amused by the amount of local press coverage it gets here. It's like it's the most exciting thing ever NOT to be happening in Berkshire!

Icing how are things today?

Phie - I was impressed at your epic catch up. Your friend sounds so lovely - such a thoughtful and sweet gift.

For anyone engrossed in the saga of my dying coffee machine ( probably no-one ), DH dismantled it last night in an effort to fix it. It is lying in many pieces with lots of wires poking out everywhere and I suspect will never be put back together! Tomorrow's task - trip to town to investigate a replacement (oh, and the John Lewis Clearance is on... so might swing by a few other departments Smile).

38+6 (and hats off to Cheek for still being at work at this gestation!)

Runswithsquirrels · 03/07/2013 10:40

I've just been planning tomorrows baking by looking through the recipe book. Either bake well cupcakes or strawberry and banana muffins...

MarieKL · 03/07/2013 10:44

Wow, looks like I missed some busy times. Congratulations to Abzs, China and Wifey and good luck to Icing and Cheese.

Shelley I'm really glad you're still with us. It sounds like you're doing everything you can, and whatever you end up doing longer term the experience will make you a brilliant peer supporter.

Slouching enjoy your shopping trip and good luck with finding a new coffee machine.

Still nothing exciting happening here, but I like this idea of baking muffins so may have to do that with DS this afternoon. Just been for a walk and now exhausted so sitting on the couch with my cats trying to decide if there is anything I really need to do or if I can fit in a catnip before picking up DS from preschool.

PhieEl06 · 03/07/2013 11:24

I started a reply & then my iPad battery died... Grrrrr!

Very jealous of ladies who have starting signs, hoping it continues for you!

wifey congratulations on the birth of baby Kyle! Babies are coming thick & fast now!

Runs & others in the insomiacs club sending my sympathies & I hope you get to nap today, but also in awe of you all baking!

Glad you like the room/colour now MrsRoss!

Hehe Slouching I am slightly engrossed, hope you manage to get a new one sorted, & not go too mad in John Lewis! Wink

Our neighbours next door have gone away on holiday & have their niece & her family round to house sit, now usually I love dogs but they have a ratty little dog that does nothing but howl, whimper & bark all day whilst they are out at work. I feel like I'm going insane!!
I have loads to do today but This Morning is severely drowning my enthusiasm!

Bored of waiting now at 37+4, how am I going to cope for another what could be 4 weeks?! Sad

MightBeMad · 03/07/2013 11:36

Congtratulations Abz, china and wifey !!!! And good luck to those having early signs!

No developments here, other than feeling very sick today. Am now going to final pack my hospital ag and then take a no and hope the nausea eases.

36+5 (only two days til I'm tem!!!)

esme80 · 03/07/2013 12:14

Ive missed loads apparantly! Congrats Abzs, China and Wifey!

Im due today. Have given bump a poke and told her its time to evacuate, no answer as of yet. Still having period type pains with the odd contraction, not enough though. Going to have the sweep tomorrow I think, was uncertain before...

I made muffins yesterday too! Not at 5 am though... Apple and cinnamon, lovely! Too lovely, only one left! I mean, I didnt eat all of them! Think DH had one or something.

Thinkingof4 · 03/07/2013 12:18

Wow busy thread again!!
Congratulations to abzs , china and wifey

Things seem to be hotting up for cheese and runs and icing too!
Not much to report here, but have had a show (hurray!) not surprising after yesterday's sweep. Couldn't face pineapple last night but will munch my way through it today instead. Have been down beach for a walk with a friend today but to be fair it was fairly sedate then lots of sitting down and chatting which was lovely actually. She's one of my oldest friends from way back so was great to have a pre-baby catch up! She was saying the inside bit of pineapple is best for helping induce labour (the hard bit in the middle) but don't know if I'm that desperate...
Feeling quite calm today after being quite anxious yesterday so maybe this is calm before the storm.

40+1

Ps Shelley glad to see you back

IcingTheCake · 03/07/2013 12:19

Good luck cheese i really hope this is it for you Smile

Congratulations to the new arrivals, they're coming fast now! Smile

Thank you everyone for your well wishes, i fell asleep having regular bh/contractions but not too painful, woke up and nothing, i burst into tears and my OH had to console me Blush was so hoping this was it, I think im just having a very long drawn out early labour, still 4 weeks and 3 days maximum left! Just scoffed a hot curry, bought a ready peeled pineapple lazy, me? No tidied the house (hoping to trick my body into nesting - didnt work, im knackered) and baked my brothers birthday cake and froze a homemade cookie mix, ready to be cooked at a later date! Now I've run out of chocolate and butter so will pop out to get some in a little while an make some brownies to be frozen and a summer fruit loaf cake to be frozen too.

Were going to a Chinese restaurant tonight, any spicy dish recommendations? Im determined! Grin Feeling more cheerful i think I've accepted it had to be soon even if its not as soon as I'd like! Smile

37+4

Thinkingof4 · 03/07/2013 12:22

Pps Marie kind of hoping you'll have your baby today as that will give me hope that mine is coming soon too!! Midwife only told me bishops score because I asked, and I only asked because my dsis is a gynaecologist and I knew she would want to know!!

Runswithsquirrels · 03/07/2013 13:26

Icing I woke up cramp free as well. I guess it's gonna be very stop start for a while. I'm just telling myself baby knows best and will come when she's ready...

IcingTheCake · 03/07/2013 13:35
