TotallyEggFlipped · 01/07/2013 17:42

Sorry you're having a rough time, shelley

So. MW eventually came back & examined me to see about the pessary - already 2cm dilated, so straight to rupturing of membranes when LW ready. Waited an hour or so before coming upstairs, but just come up & had that done. Now just got to wait & see if anything happens.....

shelley72 · 01/07/2013 17:58

Ooh exciting totally! You might be the first of the July babies!

dinkystinky · 01/07/2013 18:12

So exciting Totally - looks like you're next up!

Abzs - hopefully Small will straighten out and all will be OK. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Shelley - nice to see you on. Has dd2 got a name now? Hope things are starting to settle down at home for you.

Esme, Thinking, Marie - don't worry. Am pretty sure I'll be joining you in the overdue club!

Have been stuck at home today waiting for a parking warden to deliver a new parking permit (long story but basically the idiots at the council sent us a permit for the wrong zone and dh didn't notice till I pointed it out to him when I had to drive Ds to his new school) - still no warden or new permit but lots of boring jobs done, including cleaning the washing machine. Really hope this permit turns up soon as don't fancy being housebound again tomorrow!

Heads up: Tonight BBC1 8:30pm Panorama about Pregnancy and taking medicines.

cheekbyjowl · 01/07/2013 19:08

good luck abz and totally!

bigbelly I loved reading your birth story. what a joy to be a family of six! I bet your children must be over the moon with the new arrival. I hope I can have a big family too.

esme I heard that the royal family announce the birth by writing it on a bit of parchment that then gets put up on the gates of buckingham palace. maybe we can all do the same...can you imagine? the press would get so confused with all our little bits of paper but it would be a novel way of reducing the number of texts we need to send Wink

slouching if you keep baking I'm moving in! what a domestic goddess. was it you who made the octopus salad too? I've never tried that but I kinda fancy it...where do you find octopus? alas I've got birds eye chicken and chips for tea

where is sundaysunshine? is there a chance you've had the baby?

VinegarDrinker · 01/07/2013 19:18

Wow, good luck Totally! Abz do you know when you get a final decision?

My sweep is tomorrow, too. FX it does something...

shelley72 · 01/07/2013 19:56

No, still no name as yet. Down to two I think but hard deciding what suits. Was totally convinced I was having a boy - carried same way as with ds, same eating habits, hairy tummy Shock - so only seriously considered boys names. For some reason there are loads of boys names I like and very few girls. Still have another 5 weeks or so to go.

Good luck for your sweep vinegar. still can't believe that my baby is here already. I wake up and miss my bump !

MightBeMad · 01/07/2013 19:59

Good luck totally and Abz! And to those having sweeps tomorrow.

Had a couple of killer bhs earlier this eve which ou me off going to aqua, but all seems to have settled now. Mw said baby not engaged :( but uterus very sensitive (when she went to feel for baby I kept tightening). Heaven knows what that means, other than I'm getting uncomfy bhs!

VinegarDrinker · 01/07/2013 20:03

shelley I meant to say, saw your other thread and hope you are feeling a bit more positive. It all sounds very, very normal to me, classic time for "baby blues" plus culmination of all your worry and stress for the last few weeks.

TotallyEggFlipped · 01/07/2013 20:42

Had a baby girl, Naomi, at 7:18pm. Started having contractions shortly after membranes ruptured at 5:30. Baby arrived safely after a 1h25m labour. She's 5lb8oz & doing well. Grin
If we'd been a bit more prepared, we could probably have gone home tonight, but we haven't got a car seat or crib sorted out yet - we leant the car seat to a friend & don't have it back & the crib is stil in my parents attic! So hopefully home tomorrow morning.

VinegarDrinker · 01/07/2013 20:47

Oh wow! Congratulations!

dinkystinky · 01/07/2013 20:57

Congratulations Totally and lovely name (its one of the v few dh and I could agree on for a girl) - delighted she's arrived safely and swiftly.

OP posts:
Persuasion · 01/07/2013 20:58

Wow, congratulations totally! That was bloody quick! Glad she's doing well, sounds like you're ok too? Naomi is a beautiful name too.

Shelley I hope you're feeling a bit better soon, sounds like classic baby blues, all those hormones switching around. Good luck on deciding on a final name too.

dinky glad you had a productive day, if slightly boring. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for you!

I also think I'm heading for the overdue club too, no progress today at all. I have my first sweep booked for Wednesday, good luck for those having theirs tomorrow.

shelley72 · 01/07/2013 21:03

Congratulations totally. Such happy news and glad all went ok if a little fast! Enjoy those snuggles with your baby girl Smile

Silver15 · 01/07/2013 21:17

Congratulations Totally. Naomi is a beautiful name.

MarieKL · 01/07/2013 21:24

Congratulations Totally. Lovely to hear that after all the waiting she arrived so quickly. I hope you have a good night and get everything sorted so you can get home tomorrow.

Dinky did your permit turn up? Sounds like you put the time to good use though.

Mightbemad I've no idea what that means either. Glad the Bhs have settled down though.

Thanks to photographer for the heads up. May catch it on iplayer. Was it any good?

Cheek your dinner sounds good to me. I'm craving carbs and anything that doesn't result in too much washing up is always a bonus!

Persuasion good luck with your sweep. So far there's no indication that mine has made any difference, but maybe something will happen later. If not it would be lovely to have some more company in the overdue club Smile

No permit yet MarieKL - I cant imagine parking wardens are the most efficient of couriers though Grin The warden has probably gone into a nervous breakdown at the idea of giving out a permit rather than a ticket and has had to be retrained...

Good luck to all those having sweeps - hope they bring the desired result v soon for you!

OP posts:
SlouchingPanda · 01/07/2013 21:37

Wow! Congratulations Totally - super speedy work! Will you still make it to your meal out after all!?

And now for something completely different: Cheek I get my octopus from Morrisons Grin - lots of lovely recipes online for Greek octopus salad. Not to everyone's taste I know, but I love it and I can daydream about being in the Mediterranean, not in home counties suburbia. I'm clearly becoming a bit of a food bore in the absence of any baby action!

Thinkingof4 · 01/07/2013 21:48

totally wow congratulations on the speedy and safe arrival of Naomi. Enjoy your first night with her.

tryitonforsize · 01/07/2013 22:02

Congrats totally - amazing news and what a brilliant labour! Starting to get very impatient now... although still all seems surreal... not sure I have fully grasped that I am having another baby!

39 +4

tryitonforsize · 01/07/2013 22:19

Dinky - just realised you and I are due on the same day (thanks for adding me to the list. Have you got anything planned to speed up the process or are you just going the 'it'll come when it comes route'. I'm on the latter path right now but wondering if I shouldn't give this baby a helping hand!

dinkystinky · 01/07/2013 22:25

Scrubbing walls and washing, hoovering and dusting , weeding etc today were all with the view to get Bean to move down - no sign of it working at all so far! Think am minded to let things run their course - ds1 was evicted at 42 weeks, so as long as Bean arrives before that point I'll be happy. Mind you, its meant to get up to 29 degrees next week so may well change my mind and take whatever I can find to speed things up once the temperature starts rising!

OP posts:
evelynj · 02/07/2013 00:03

Congrats totally & Shelley, wonderful stuff! Totally-that was fast, hope all's good.

Dinky-hope you got your permit-can you adjust the old wrong one to work anywhere near the hospital?!

I'm in bed making a long to do list for tomorrow & will probably only manage about 2 minor things off it!

So jealous of anyone with energy-I organised a cupboard today tho, (now have one tidy shelf purely for biscuits & the like to go with all the cups of tea I plan to have visitors making when they come round!) I plan to attempt a bit of wall painting tomorrow while DS is at my folks although DH has banned it but desperate to get new rooms finished-I'm obsessed!

Heartburn is doing my head in now & my diet is awful-have only had one of my 5 a day today. This baby will be full of junk food!

Worried I have too much in my hospital bags-cabin size bag for me & baby changing bag & pillows? Plan to be in for 2-3 days as elcs., does this seem ok

Also, has anyone given themselves the injections for blood thinning is it? Think you have to have them first 3 days but really don't know if I could face it myself.....

shelley72 · 02/07/2013 00:36

Evelynj I took a cabin bag for baby (though needn't have bothered as she wasn't dressed until we left to come home) and a small holdall for me. In my hurry I forgot my pillow so this was brought in after. So what you have seems ok esp if you're in for a couple of days. As for the jabs, I'm doing this at the minute as they give you one a day for a week. Dh did my first and it hurt like hell so I'm doing them myself now. Best thing I've found is to pinch up some tummy fat (if you have any) and inject into that as you don't have so many nerves there. Obviously not near your scar though! If I can manage it sure you will be fine.

Dinky you must have a very comfy bean there. Babies always come when they're ready. Maybe they're just waiting to coincide with the royal babies arrival?!

In other news I now have cracked bleeding nipples to add to my list of woes, think the damage was done by (yet another) undiagnosed tongue tie. Using lots of lansinoh to try and get through feeds at the moment. And we've nearly decided on a name , we think we have a Florence. Maybe today we will officially announce it and wait for the puzzled faces
