Hi

Is there an antenatal thread for March 2013?

If not, can I start one? I've just found out Im expecting our third (and final!!) baby, due 4 March.

Fingers crossed tightly for a smooth ride (I had early bleeds with both my previous pregnancies).

Anyone else out there yet?

Beccy, don't understand why your worried your scan at 10 wks is too late?? My first scan is 12.5 wks...

Beccadugs · 15/07/2013 07:19

If you mean me lamb hop, I a worried that as my booking in appt is at ten weeks not 8 weeks as they are fully booked, I won't be referred for a scan until then and given i had to book 5 weeks in advance for booking in I am worried they won't be able to give a scan appt in a two week time frame.

Rockchick1984 · 15/07/2013 07:28

becca if you are insistent that you want the nuchal testing, that can only be done before 14 weeks so they will have to book your scan for before then. 12 week scan never seems to be done exactly at 12 weeks, in my area its usually around 13 weeks. If you don't want the nuchal testing you can "change your mind" on the day :)

So sorry to hear your news Boob its horrible to experience a miscarriage, I got a lot of support from the miscarriage/pregnancy loss board on here (in the body & soul topic) Thanks

Booking in appt today so got to try and convince them to refer me for an early scan, wish me luck!

RugbyWidow7 · 15/07/2013 07:43

Boobs, I'm so incredibly sorry to hear your news. Miscarriage is the saddest thing. Let us know. Everything is crossed for you.

Rockchick, good luck with your early scan endeavour. I was turned down last week. I told him about my history but had absolutely no joy. Fingers crossed you get yours. How many weeks are you, having your booking in app? I don't think I'm going to get one until at least 8 weeks.

I told another friend yesterday, unwittingly! She wanted a glass of wine and asked if it would mean opening a new bottle. I said don't worry, as dh will happily finish it. It was quite obvious, a) that I wasn't drinking it with her and b) that dh would have to finish it off on his own, that I am preggers. I feel so nervous telling people at this point after last time, but must stay positive!! Smile

LittleMachine · 15/07/2013 07:57

Boobs I'm so sorry. Feel so sad for you. Be kind to yourself, I hope you're being well looked after. X

Rockchick1984 · 15/07/2013 07:59

I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow - standard community mw here does booking in at 8-9 weeks, only got it early because I'm having one to one care :)

What reason did they give you for no early scan Rugby? When I had MMC the EPU said I could have scans every 2 weeks until 12 weeks - I don't want that many but would ideally want one now and one around 9/10 weeks (baby died at 8 weeks last time). If I don't get any I'll be making a complaint that I was basically lied to - hoping I don't need to but think its wrong of them to give duff information!

toasterstrudel · 15/07/2013 08:08

Rugby - because I complained of pain in one side and because of my past mc they sent me straight for a scan - they seem to do this if they think there's a risk of ectopic - not advocating lying or abusing the system but I'm sure if you were having one sided pain and had a history etc they might give you one x

MummyPig24 · 15/07/2013 08:14

Boobs I am so sorry to hear that x

RugbyWidow7 · 15/07/2013 08:26

He said the NHS never gives early scans, even with history. What?! He was a horrid doctor! I had two early scans last time due to heavy bleeding. Perhaps because my mc last month was so early it doesn't really count. Plus no bleeding so far. I think I'll try to push it again at my booking in app around 8 weeks. Thank you

toasterstrudel · 15/07/2013 08:30

Rugby - he must have been a bit of a grump because they did for me both times?! Is it worth going to a different doctor?

Boobs - so sorry x

MTBMummy · 15/07/2013 08:57

Can I jump on board?

MTBMummy · 15/07/2013 09:08

erp - hit send too soon...

Got BFP yesterday, only 4-5 weeks along. MC'd in May when I was about 6 weeks along, so trying not to get too excited, but really hoping this one sticks

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/07/2013 09:21

Rugby perhaps call your local antenatal and ask for the early pregnancy unit and speak to them directly?
Congrats and FX mummy. Hugs to boobs

April13 · 15/07/2013 09:21

Boobs sorry to hear your news x

I have been feeling rough this weekend although not actually vomited I was in bed for 2130 each night! Got up for work today & felt crap. Managed 15 mins of my 60 min drive and had to turn back. I feel like a fraud. I'm only 6.5 weeks and am not bring sick all the time, only feel sick, yet when lying down feel better? I hate taking time off/calling in sick to work. Actually started crying cause feel like I'm in the wrong. Also have overwhelming paranoia which she's by help! Ran out of tests, but am still temping every morning to make sure it's still up!

JK10 · 15/07/2013 10:01

I have 4 kids and have a Honda frv, they are 6 seater cars, 3 in front and 3 in back, and a normal sized boot for pushchair etc. they are great cars as don't feel hug to drive but can fit 3 car seats in.

I too have to have the anti d injection, I'm o rhesus negative, they used to give you two lots during and one after pregnancy, they now only do one during and one after. It's does make your arm ache quite a bit though, one nurse gave it to me in the top of my thigh as the needle is long and it's quite a lot they inject in, so if you don't have big arms
U too may need it in your thigh.

I'm really fine apart from the tierdness is driving me insane, anyway hope u all feel better soon, I best go get some work done!

LittleMachine · 15/07/2013 10:09

I've just booked in with the midwife and realised it's a clinic that the mw from my previous pregnancy runs so I'm delighted. I loved her!

MTBMummy · 15/07/2013 10:14

So sorry boobs - it's just awful when it happens - my thoughts are with you

PiratesMam · 15/07/2013 11:40

MTBMummy Welcome, fingers crossed for a sticky one!

cars yes it's the car seat issue for us. Other DCs are 4 and 2, and short so will be in car seats for a while yet! Haven't mentioned the issue to DH yet, don't think it's what he needs to hear right now!

Am still mainly tired, not really any nausea here. Making me slightly worried as had it with the other two and I know it's a sign of a strong pregnancy hormone but on the other hand I know it's an awful thing to wish for!

PiratesMam · 15/07/2013 11:42

April you mustn't feel bad about time off work - it's not forever and it's just the way it is at the moment. Work will cope; I'm sure they would all want you to put yourself first under the circumstances. Try not to stress!

toasterstrudel · 15/07/2013 12:41

Just had a call from the epau - the doctor's called in sick so my scan has been moved from tomorrow to Thursday - lady on the phone was very nice and apologetic and it's only two days but still feel a bit Hmm because I was all mentally prepared for it and its thrown me off a bit if that makes any sense?

stephie101 · 15/07/2013 12:45

Well i threw up for Wales this morning....it was great!!!! All beginning to sink in now..
ive been eating salt and vinegar crisps..lovely...and lots of water...
Felling more positive today if a little headachy.x

OnTheRunFromTheAcademe · 15/07/2013 13:00

pirates I often give a lift to a friend with two kids, so we have three in the car in total. Currently two in toddler seats and one in an infant seat and they all fit fine in my ford mondeo.

JBrd · 15/07/2013 13:34

Hello, ladies, I'm tentatively marking my place here!

I'm currently 4+5, due mid-March. I have a DS, I've had 2 MC this year, so this is my 4th pregnancy. So currently not jumping up and down with joy (as much as I would love to), but walking on eggshells and taking one day at a time.

No symptoms yet whatsoever, but I'm still hoping that this is not a bad sign - ms kicked in with DS at about 5-6 weeks, but I had none in the other two pgs, so I'm now prone to think sickness = good, no sickness = bad. Which it completely stupid.

Hoping I'll be third time lucky.

Is there a stats list flying around somewhere here already?

Coolhand · 15/07/2013 14:04

Toaster that would totally throw me off as well, especially because the scan feels so important at this stage. At least the new one is pretty quickly.

Hi JBrd and MTB. Hope you have lovely non-eventful pregnancies this time round.

I finally got a doc's appnt for this afternoon - the appnt itself is fairly useless but will at least get me referred on for booking in/scan. I also want to enquire about care options - last time round I was given no options, it was just shared care which meant I attended all my m/w appnts at my docs. However, had absolutely NO confidence in m/w. She never gave me any info, had to try and extract it from her. I was supposed to get bloods done at 28 weeks - when I asked she said I was a picture of health, not necessary. The hospital had told me she would take measurements at each appnt and refer me back for a scan if any concerns - never took one measurement and baby was fairly big. The worst bit was I had an appnt at 39 weeks - I was self-testing my urine and thought I had a uti - took in a sample, she said it was fine. When I went into labour a week later, they tested and said, did you not realise you had a uti and THEN discovered baby was breech (she had baby head down in my notes, with how much baby's head was apparently engaged - can only think that must have been his bum). Sorry for rant but do not want that m/wife again or I'll not trust my care. I'm going to have to put my foot down and I'm not very confrontational by nature. I was very close to going private with my ante-natal this time because of it but couldn't stop thinking about how much more useful the money would be on maternity leave

Anyway, hopefully will be able to see a m/w up at the hospital instead!

Blockette · 15/07/2013 14:29

Can I join? Got my BFP on the weekend! Not been to the GP yet though.

I'm not really sure when I'm due, and my last AF was 3 months ago, but CB said 2-3 weeks (AF has been irregular for about a year) so assume it's march time.
