Hi everyone, hope you had good wkends, I'm looking forward to my holiday next Saturday (although won't be the usual sunbathing with wine flowing!), still can't wait just to relax especially as I'm feeling a bit rough and sick today! Work are piling on the pressure ahead of my hols but who cares, in one week I will be off for two weeks woop!

Just wondered when the really preggers people started to get lightning crotch/cervix pangs? So I can be prepared and not go into cervix panic!

I already have a tub of lanisol in my hospital bag but thanks for letting me know I can get it free!! It is quite expensive really!!
Is everyone else on the bf wagon as well? Maybe its a berry thing Grin
Erm am I next in line than? I thought there were at least 4 of you ahead of me? Remind me who has popped alreadyGrin? And boys or girls?
Don't think we met Alex. Hello Grin
I've seen merk just got a bfp. I remember you hun, lets hope this one is a sticky one. I went through that exact fear!!
Any more exciting news I should know about??
Feels nice to be back x

Purplemonster · 14/07/2013 20:12

Welcome back Lol!

Cavort · 14/07/2013 21:06

The photographer has sent through a taster picture from this morning which I have uploaded. She looks gorgeous even if I do say so myself. Grin I really can't wait to see the rest as all the photos I have taken so far have all been crap Grin

Cavort · 15/07/2013 07:25

Well we finally got to bed at 1.00 and Elodie has kept me up since 4.00. She's been fed several times, clean nappy, seems happy and content but WIDE AWAKE. I thought newborns slept all the time?!! How many months weeks have we got to wait until she has some concept of day and night? Angry Aaarrgghh!!

Alexandra6 · 15/07/2013 07:36

I was wondering this yesterday cavort - I don't know how light your bedroom is but ours is really light (thin cream curtains). Does that affect the baby do you think? (Wondering how our baby will know it's still sleepy time in the summer when it gets light so early!) Maybe it doesn't make a difference anyway but wondering if we should invest in some wooden/black out blinds!

Love her cute shoot pic!!! Kate Moss move over Wink

Hi lol, not sure we did meet, I'm 20 weeks now so halfway there and loving the kicks Smile Enjoy your last week at work for a while!

Cute pic Cavort!

And hello there Lol :) I'm 39 weeks today and a hot hot hot bear!

Got up this morning at 630 after a terrible night's sleep to iron a shirt for DP and ended up wandering round thennursery stark naked while trying to get the moses basket covers off to wash them.

Am now sat watching breakfast tv similarly naked as I'm just too hot for my dressing gown. Slightly worried that I actually need to get dressed and go out of the house today Hmm

Hope you're coping better... and very glad you're back!

janey1234 · 15/07/2013 07:58

Oh cavort I feel your pain. By far the worst night to date last night. Miles slept 10-1.30am - and not much since. He's fed soooo much since 1.30am and has napped but for not more than 20 mins. Terrible timing on his part - DP is back at work today after paternity leave and even though I did my best to keep Mikes quiet, I know he hardly had any sleep either.

Feeling a bit emotional about DP going back to work, cried when he left. What's wrong with me?! We've just had such an amazing fortnight and I guess I didn't want it to end...

Cavort I love that pic - Elodie looks gorgeous Smile

janey1234 · 15/07/2013 07:58

Oh and bear - poor, poor you. Can't begin to imagine how shitty it must be to be really heavily pregnant in this weather...Confused

Quodlibet · 15/07/2013 08:23

Aw Janey I am not surprised you are emotional.
Welcome back Lol - you might remember me from the original thread, I had a MMC at Xmas but now 18 wks.
Sweet pic Cavort, I always wondered how they got babies in those poses, didn't realise you could pose them while they are asleep!
Really not envying anyone heavily pregnant in this heat either.

HazleNutt · 15/07/2013 09:16

Very cute cavort. So you didn't go for the baby wig? Grin
baby-bangs.com/index2.php

It might be just a phase, but so far Victor has figured this night thing out - wakes up once or twice, eats and just goes back to sleep, no fussing or cluster feeding like at daytime. I really hope this won't change. I've become a really light sleeper, up at the first little noise and DH does not hear anything, happily sleeps through the night. Not really sure how this will work once I need to go back to work though. Can I say once more that 14 weeks of leave is absolutely ridiculous?

Lol so far Janey and I have had boys and Purple and Cavort have little girls.

Cavort · 15/07/2013 09:34

Alex our bedroom windows are east-facing so get full sun first thing in the morning, so we have always had blackout curtains in there which keep things pretty dark. Light definitely wasn't the problem at 4am this morning. I am going to avoid artificially darkening the room for daytime naps so she will hopefully get the idea eventually.

Brave you got up at 6.30 to iron your DP's shirt even though you are 39 weeks pregnant and off work?? Shock Shock I must be a terrible wife because unless he somehow lost the use of his arms I would never do that!

Oh Janey what a pair we are. Do you think we will be uploading photos of our eye bags soon to compare who has the biggest just like the bump pictures? Grin

Quod the photographer told me you can only 'mould' a sleeping baby into those positions until they are about 3 weeks old so you have to get your pictures done pretty sharpish after birth.

I have arranged to venture out with the pram into town to meet some maternity mates for lunch, but after 3 hours sleep I am now regretting this. I hope they're feeling as rough as I am today. Hmm

Cavort · 15/07/2013 09:39

Hazle I feel I have seen it all now! Those wigs are hilarious, I wonder how many they sell?

Elodie had done 3 nights of sleeping midnight to 8am with one 40 minute feed about 4ish so I was feeling quite smug that the sleeping was going well... until last night. Sad

I completely agree how ridiculous your way-too-short leave is. Sad

BraveLilBear · 15/07/2013 10:23

Hazle it is way too short :(

Cavort I think I'm mad sometimes but I quite like it. When I'm in the house I feel fine so am doing loads more housework than usual... we usually split things down the middle so am seeing this pre-baby time as money in the bank cos there's no way I'll be doing this in the early baby days!

Would love to get some newborn pics like that my family are gonna be sick of the sight of babybear after all the themed Christmas presents this year

Alexandra6 · 15/07/2013 10:29

Argh those wigs, especially the one on the home page, really made me laugh! Grin

Really feel for you with the way too short leave hazle

bear you are better than me ironing your DP's shirt at that time in the morning heavily pregnant! I've never ironed a shirt of DH's and embarrassingly he has ironed several dresses for me over the years! I might offer to do his shirts when I'm on mat leave though.

Sorry you're feeling so tired cavort bet the others you're meeting up with will be the same so can relate.

We were given a couple of hand me down baby bits this weekend, our first things for the baby other than the very practical stuffed monkey toy I've bought so far. One was a little rocking chair for the baby that places music and has different speeds, so cute and so handy to have hand me downs!

So, brave you are before me then!!!!
Two boys and two girls. I'm having a girl. What are u having, brave?
Quod of course I remember you hun. I'm so glad you're over here after your shitty time over Xmas!!!!
Hi Alex. 20 weeks is lovely. Much better than the whale stage I'm in now!!!
I'm keen on newborn photos as well!!!
For those of you with babies, have you had any visitors??? Or not allowed anyone over? My mother in law informed asked me if she could come over and I said not straight away!!! Did u all fancy being alone with DH or did u want help? My mum won't come until DH back at work cause she does his head in and is coming from abroad so will live with us for a month so I'm thinking just the two of us?

HazleNutt · 15/07/2013 11:24

Lol I had PILs and SILs visiting while at the hospital. Otherwise just starting to have visitors this week. I was quite reluctant to have any due to all the stories I read on MN about what horror the first few weeks with a newborn are, so I was terrified and I hinted heavily that we would like to be left alone for the first 2 weeks.

However, Victor has been such a sleepy and quiet baby that we could have easily had visitors from the start without any problems. Haven't really needed help either, but Dh and I are both home so there is always an extra pair of hands, so having your mum over when he goes back is a good idea.

Alexandra6 · 15/07/2013 12:23

Finally I've got a really good pregnancy appetite! So far today I've had a bowl of cereal, a chocolate GU dessert with strawberries for brunch (piggy) and am about to tuck into a tuna pasta salad! This will surely help my baby's head grow?! (lol my baby's head measurements were small at my 20 wk scan so have to go back at 24 wks for another check - in case that sounded really random! I don't just want a baby with a huge head! Grin )

On visitors, I was amazed how well janey was doing when I visited her a week and a half after Miles was born! One thing though, I made sure I didn't stay so long (and hope I didn't stay too long janey!) as I bet having visitors round for shorter visits is better?

OP posts:
Cavort · 15/07/2013 12:42

Lol we've had loads of visitors but none of them have stayed too long so it's been fine. DH is self-employed and very busy at the moment (sod's law) so has only managed a few half days paternity so far, so having all the visitors has been nice as I was in too much pain from the birth and episiotomy to consider going anywhere last week.

janey1234 · 15/07/2013 14:33

Lol - I kind of banned visitors. A couple of close friends (hi Alex!) and immediate family have popped over for an hour or two, but for the vast majority of the time it's just been me, DP and Miles. And I've loved it. Such a special time. My parents are staying for a week or two now, then DP's mum will come and stay for a week, but it was so lovely to have that first two weeks just the three of us...

BelissimaLol · 15/07/2013 18:35

Thanks for the advice. I think I will play it by ear and decide later.
Had 38 week check and was told by mw to spend time on all fours with birth ball for support to see if I can turn baby- she is back to back now. When I think I can't get any sexier something else comes along!
Lol at Alex and big head!!! Will eating help grow it??? What about some brain food Grin?
Sneaked on berry thread and it looks like thunder got a bfp GrinGrin. Have PMd her to try and lure her over to the dark side here with us!

janey1234 · 15/07/2013 18:43

Hoorah!!! As hazle said, berries graduate en mass!Smile

BraveLilBear · 16/07/2013 08:56

Exciting news!

I'm in team green lol, tho I think girl and DP thinks boy. Do you know what's waiting to meet you?

Good luck with the ball... but don't panic if it doesn't follow the plan just yet. Loads of babies turn in labour apparently

Midwife said yesterday that my little bear is 2/5 palpable which she said was as far as it can go before labour. Then started getting regular contractions for a few hours, every 15 minutes or so.

Thing is, they're quite vague as in I have to feel my tum to see if it's hard, otherwise they're just like period pain. Was a bit worried last night as they were getting almost painful, period cramps with low back pain and an occasional stabby pain but there was no pattern at all.

Had bath (am totally praying for the pool, the effect was amazing) and went to bed and fortunately, managed to get a good nights sleep. Am writing it off to pre labour and hoping I have the days variety and not the weeks!

Cavort were you having proper obvious contractions in pre labour or were they vague like that?

Hope the mummy berries are well today, can't imagine babies like sleeping in this heat...

Cavort · 16/07/2013 09:15

Hi Brave, period pains and tightenings sound promising that it's going to kick off quite soon for you. Smile

My first contractions were uncomfortable rather than painful, but they were noticably different from the BH/tightenings I had previously. They lasted at least 30 seconds right from the start as but were generally closer to a minute long even though they were irregular.

I installed a contraction timer app on my phone which I would recommend doing as timing is the last thing you want to do while having proper contractions.

BelissimaLol · 16/07/2013 09:42

Ooh exciting brave!! Lets hope its the start of something. Cavort- which app did u download? And have you downloaded a bf one?
I'm having a little girl. I'm well excited!!! Could not have waited to find out. Fair play to you team green!
Who's due after me then? I think I was the last of the November lot and can't remember who followed?

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/07/2013 09:44

Good luck brave, crossing fingers for things to get going
