Hi everyone, hope you had good wkends, I'm looking forward to my holiday next Saturday (although won't be the usual sunbathing with wine flowing!), still can't wait just to relax especially as I'm feeling a bit rough and sick today! Work are piling on the pressure ahead of my hols but who cares, in one week I will be off for two weeks woop!

Just wondered when the really preggers people started to get lightning crotch/cervix pangs? So I can be prepared and not go into cervix panic!

OP posts:

HazleNutt · 24/06/2013 14:52

everybody is driving me nuts now. Is the baby here yet, is the baby here yet - I fecking told them I will let them know if he is, therefore if I have not, it means he is not here. Honestly, is it so difficult to understand? Angry
Are you getting the same or is it just my friends, relatives and colleagues?

Purplemonster · 24/06/2013 15:03

How's it going Hazle? Is the baby here yet? Grin
Nobody has bothered me yet but then I'm not actually due until next Tuesday. I can imagine it would drive you mad though!

Cavort · 24/06/2013 15:59

Hazle I'm not really being pestered for news, but I think that's because 1) I am not overdue yet, and 2) I have spent the last few months telling everyone how annoying it will be if they keep asking all the time so now nobody dares ask. Either that or nobody actually cares, it's one or the other. Grin Can't you just tell them all to fuck off and leave you alone? I'm sure that would sort it. Grin

Mother my boobs have only recently grown so I'm still quite liking the novelty value of them at the moment, although I'm not too keen on their new shape and the fact that they seem to have big blue veins close to the surface... they still don't look like Kelly Brook's boobs. Sad Angry My actual nipples have got bigger but the areola hasn't, it's just gone brown. I just hope they work when they are called upon to perform. And if you think your bigger boobs are a barrier between you and your OH, just wait until your space-hopper belly overtakes them!

Purple, by the time my Sister had got to 2cm she had been in painful latent labour for 2 days, contracting every 8 minutes and hadn't slept. 2cm pain-free is an achievement! Although I still demand more - your cervix needs some kind of ball-bouncing hip-rotating boot camp! Although I am doing this and it isn't bloody working.

MotherOfCleo · 24/06/2013 16:16

Fair point cavort, yeah mine don't look like Kelly Brookes either, what's that about huh? Wink

Do we think Purple is leading the pack then? Come on baby purple, get your head in the game literally Grin

Frogcatcher · 24/06/2013 16:17

Go purple cervix go purple cervix ra ra ra!

And hazle cervix too as it has some catching up to do.

My boobs have gone from 32C to 32D so far. I'd quite like maybe a 32E so I'll take some of yours mother. Is this likely or has all growth happened now until I get closer to actual breastfeeding?

BraveLilBear · 24/06/2013 16:35

All bets are off re boobage Frog mine are a lot bigger than they were, but no idea what size right now as waiting til payday to get measured for a new bra (and now think there's probably not much point). But mine have gone from 30DD to 32D (maternity) and the 32D is definitely too small.

Fortunately, they've stopped growing for now. Have found the cure to leaky boobs btw - wear an old sports bra in bed. DP requested this after getting leaked on one night, and seemingly no leakage since! They do still work on demand though can't help myself

Had an interesting tip from antenatal class last week - they said not to get measured for nursing bra at 38 weeks as is often recommended. They said it's too unpredictable and you can spend a fortune only for them not to fit. They said to invest in a couple of those magic stretchy bras as they give enough support to get you through until the milk comes in, when you can get out and have a proper fitting.

Not sure if I buy this or not (and whether I'll be willing to flash my heavily swollen norks to a stranger 3 days postpartum) but an interesting tip nonetheless...

Purplemonster · 24/06/2013 16:35

Well who knew? Finally something pregnancy related I'm good at? Wonders will never cease!

HazleNutt · 24/06/2013 16:52

Well there is something I'd like to do tomorrow - the airline next door to my office is selling their tax-free stuff really cheap, like a third of the retail price, and they only have this sale twice per year. Therefore there could be a chance that BabyNutt decides to ruin this for me.

As for boobs, mine actually look small now, compared to the belly. And I'm a G-cup at the moment. Perspective is everything.

janey1234 · 24/06/2013 17:37

So I haven't had any nesting feelings at all. But today have been cooking up a storm. As well as making enough beef ragu to feed a small army, I've just knocked up a batch of 24 scones. Heaven only knows why I made so many. Might have three one now with some strawberry jam as a nice little afternoon treat.

HazleNutt · 25/06/2013 07:34

Just in case somebody is wondering - no, still have not had the baby yet. 40+4.

janey1234 · 25/06/2013 07:44

Oh hazle, I'm sorry Hmm

Maybe today is your day, with that sale and everything? Fingers crossed for you.

MotherOfCleo · 25/06/2013 09:10

Oh Hazel, feel for you! Hope baby nut appears soon!

I've not started nesting yet, I've also managed to control my OCD tenancies too. The babies room is currently a shit tip, we need to decorate, get new carpet, new furniture etc but neither of us show any signs of doing anything.....oops. At least it is clear of all my OHs gaming rubbish so we have a blank canvass, now just to put the plan into action! Normally all of this would panic me, but every day I walk past this messy messy room and it doesn't even cross my mind. I figure we will think about it once we are back from holiday.....perhaps. Wink

Purplemonster · 25/06/2013 09:29

Morning all, just signing the 'haven't had a baby yet' register.

Mother, if it makes you feel any better, I'm STILL living in the middle of a building site with a not even nearly finished attic conversion meaning I'm missing thing like actual walls and ceilings in my house! Your nursery decorating will be a doddle (and actually finished by the time baby arrives unlike the shit tip I'm living in) and if the baby is going to be in your room at first you've got ages to do it - well this is what I'm clinging to anyway Grin

HazleNutt · 25/06/2013 10:23

went to the sale, still nothing. Got some nice stuff though.

Now what would be the most embarrassing and inconvenient place for the labour to start? I might just try that.

janey1234 · 25/06/2013 10:23

Oh purple you poor thing. Ours is nearly finished now - we're at the point of wallpapering and painting now. Has cost us a small fortune mind, so maybe you've got the right idea despite how chaotic it is.

Oh, and I say "we're" wallpapering. Clearly I'm not. My lovely dad is currently whilst I sit on the sofa watching crap TV

MotherOfCleo · 25/06/2013 10:39

Purple I feel for you, my OCD would not do well with those surroundings. Baby will indeed be in with us to start with but I want the room to be ready before too, just to add a bit of extra pressure. Hope yours is all finished soon.

Cavort · 25/06/2013 10:57

Damn all you stubborn Elderberry babies!! I can't believe there's nothing so far... nada mucous plugs... zero waters breaking... no contractions... just impatience and misery all round. Surely something has to happen soon? Angry

Bugger-all happening here also. I have just been uphill speed-walking with the dog this morning, even though I'm knackered and my SPD hurts. I have to wait in this afternoon for shopping delivery and Dial-a-Dog-Wash so I am going to unpack my hospital bags in the hope that labour will start while everything is everywhere.

Purplemonster · 25/06/2013 11:34

Well my attic isn't going to be finished any time soon, OH hasn't done anything to it in weeks and he's just phoned me to say he thinks he's broken his finger at work Hmm being the tough guy he is, I've taken him some co-codamol and he's getting on with it and refusing to get it checked, silly sod, so I'm guessing heavy duty DIY isn't going to top his priority list.

Re: these mucous plug jobbies does anyone know what they're actually supposed to look like? Because if they look like a giant mutant blood clot, I lost mine yesterday but I google images it (stupidly, yuck) and Dr Google didn't seem to think so - enlighten me oh wise ones!

MotherOfCleo · 25/06/2013 11:40

I googled it too purple, wish I hadn't yuck. Some of them do look like blood clots though so perhaps that is what it was?

Cavort · 25/06/2013 11:41

I obviously haven't got a clue first-hand, but I've heard they're a bit like clearish jelly with streaks of blood. Some women lose theirs weeks before labour starts so I don't think it's necessarily a sign of imminent labour.

MotherOfCleo · 25/06/2013 11:43

Oh and re injured OHs, mine came back from his mates 3 day stag do which he went on this weekend with a sprained knee....again! He has weak knees and this is like the fourth or fifth time he has sprained one or both of them, it is so annoying as he now takes ages on the stairs so I can't ask him to nip up for anything, plus all dog walking duties fall on my shoulders. Oh the joys. He's not being to dramatic about it thankfully, think he knows I am well and truly sick of his damn weak knees!

Purplemonster · 25/06/2013 11:46

Hmm dunno, like you say, they all seemed to be yellowy mucusy yuck according to google but this was a properly revolting massive 2 inch round dark red blood clot so possibly completely unrelated. Sorry, I do seem to be lowering the tone with gross things this week! It's not glamorous this pregnancy lark!

Cavort · 25/06/2013 11:48

Purple I think the plug can come away in bits so maybe the clot was just part of it and the rest will follow?

Purplemonster · 25/06/2013 11:55

Ah well, time will tell I'm still waiting for this glorious burst of nesting energy which miraculously turns me into a cooking, cleaning domestic goddess. I keep looking at the kitchen cupboards and thinking I should clean them then I go and lie on the sofa instead. I just can't be bothered to do ANYTHING.

HazleNutt · 25/06/2013 11:58

I lost some pieces of mucous plug some weeks ago, I think. Look and texture like Haribo gummy bears, the white ones.

No nesting happening here either, day mostly consists of laying on the sofa, eating and occasionally glancing at work Blackberry and muttering that "oh for fuck's sake can't you people do anything yourself.."
