New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Will try baby swim again with baby welly but DD1 hated it as she couldn't maintain her body temperature and just got too stiff when cold. Not doing the expensive ones though, those days are over! Both girls need to be able to swim well as we spend most our summers messing about in boats, and although they'll be in life jackets I want to prevent any accidents.

Never lost a plug - no idea what it looks like! Sounds delightful though.

Steffanoid · 16/06/2013 21:28

coffee im hoping the rest of.mine shifts soon, then tge baby, oh didn't look too impressed at me declaring it when I left the bathroom

I think I've spent more time on the gym ball than anywhere else this week, not convinced it's doing anything, still comfy though.

im really hoping we dont have to be induced but if it comes down to it this time next week I should have the baby in my arms, if I can get a hold in over dp Grin

MrsBri · 16/06/2013 21:50

Ha ha, no worries coffee. My parents' mistake was then waiting 5 years before sending me to swimming lessons. I think if I'd had them ASAP after the pond incident (ironically falling into it while it was being drained so I didn't fall into it and drown!) I'd have been able to get past it.

Ah well, Baby B will be taught as early as possible. :-)

Oh, and yay to plug, Steff!

I know it can mean nothing but im trying to keep in.high spirits
and really debating drinking the pineapple juice in the fridge, I cant stand tge stuff and am plucking up the courage, the litre bottle has either 6 or 7 pineapples worth of juice in it, just need to pluck up courage to drink it!

Coffee it sounds like things are moving in the right direction! And stef too!
Hopefully the same for you hawkmoth which would at least explain the evil migraines.

With swimming we took DS lots when really little then not as much when I was back in work. We've started to take him weekly again now though and will get him to lessons as soon as he's 3 ( I think that's as early as they take them around here). It'll be nice for the 4 of us to go as a family to build their confidence together ( when little miss decides to arrive!). I'm similar to you mrsbri in that I'm not the most confident. Didn't learn to swim til I was gone 10 and whilst I can swim now, I'm not comfortable if I can't put my feet down if I need to and hate the thought of my head being under. I really am determined that my children will be far more water confident as I agree its such an important life skill.

Oo- someone mentioned really dry baby skin. DS was the same and HV suggested using regular olive oil on him. Seemed a little odd at the time but did the trick in no time at all. Just be sure to wear old clothes!

Sounds like everyone's doing really well with resolving feeding issues. Mn is such a great place for advice on things like this. Smile

Steffanoid · 16/06/2013 22:41

sparkle I was due on Tuesday just gone, had a (failed) sweep on Thursday, my cervix is posterior and another sweep.this Tuesday where I'll be 40+7

have mixed my pineapple juice with lemonade, it's minging Sad

CoffeeandNumbers · 16/06/2013 22:42

steff your oh is lucky. I was talking to my dh before going in the bath, so was nudey bums, and felt it on the back of my leg. So of course I had to show him, and describe it in detail. and threatened to throw it.

Pineapples are lovely, go for it. At best, it might work. At worst it might make you poop too much, which might also get you going. Win win? Confused

redwelly its not nice. probably not as bad as I'm making out, but I was so shocked!

learnermummy · 16/06/2013 22:56

My OH must be weird - he was annoyed I'd flushed the mucous plug without showing him last time Shock.

Baby swimming lessons are pricey but bonus is they're in warmer pools so baby doesn't get too cold - our local pool isn't the warmest!

Good luck to those hopefully on the way tonight! Used that calculator MrsBri and that puts my due date 3 days later so hopefully I can get my busy week out of the way first!

Steffanoid · 16/06/2013 22:56

oh no way! my oh looks at me like Hmm when I try to get out of tge bath as it is cause it's narrow and I have to flip over, it's not graceful!

im hoping crippling myself on the bathroom floor may have helped, if it does I'll watch Jeremy Kyle a very intellectual programme in the morning kneeling on.the sofa/ with my hands on.the gym.ball and hope it's that.

I really really dont like pineapple so am having a few mouthful then a jelly worm, am dreading the heartburn aftermath in bed, think I'll dose up on the rennies before I go to bed Smile

curiousgeorgie · 16/06/2013 23:06

Steff- don't do it to yourself! Pineapple is awful and it so doesn't work, I had so much with my first DD and still went two weeks over and needed a c section! My friend is a doctor and she said its a total myth, you'd have to eat about 50 of them for it to even cause a ripple Wink

MrsBri · 16/06/2013 23:14

So what's your due date now, learner? I was wondering if you'd used it or not. Fingers crossed for your busy week :-)

My DH would probably be fascinated by the plug too. Men are grim!

And my TMI clear out continues! I wonder how long it needs to continue until it has caught up from being sluggish?!

Oh and Baby B is burrowing hard too. Lots of lightning crotch tonight. Ouch.

Final MW appt tomorrow. She will book me a sweep for a week on Tuesday while I'm there. Scary stuff!

pinkapples · 16/06/2013 23:14

I seem to be the font of all questions tonight hehe but when did you all start pooing again after baby it's been 3 days today and nothing yet although I feel I need to so tried and my stitches killed! I even held a pad like I'd read but it didn't do anything

Steffanoid · 16/06/2013 23:19

curious im gonna see about putting some orange in it and making it tropical but might just donate it to my mum, the weirdo likes pineapples, it's got tge baby jiggling about so I think he likes it! I heard it was like 5 of them which when this bottle said it had 6 worth in it I thought it was worth a go.
like someone else said it may upset my stomach and help things like curry is supposed to

redwellybluewelly · 16/06/2013 23:40

I ate two pineapples and rhe heartburn was horrific afterwards, I think sex was what triggered slow labour though first time round.

Get signed off tomorrow by MWs, need to remember to ask about patches of numbness on my.leg and stomach. Debating taking a card and chocolates into the community MW team ro say thanks for their support

ella0 · 17/06/2013 00:15

There's some great advice on here.

Regarding feeding, our baby has always had plenty of wet and dirty nappies (on average 8 dirty nappies a day even though we've been told one every couple of days is still normal for a bf baby, and plenty more wet ones!), so it appeared she was feeding enough, however she was still losing weight (she was still within the acceptable 10% though). I think that may be because she was such a big baby at birth though. She's starting to catch up now though.

I can't wait to take baby swimming!

I was dreading using the loo after giving birth after reading stories on the net. I had a c-section, but had read that it would still be painful. I was pleasantly surprised when I had no pain and it was business as usual the day after having the baby.

We gave a card both to the team at the hospital and our community midwife, as they have all been incredibly supportive and lovely.

AlohaMama · 17/06/2013 00:22

pink, I almost think it's the fear that makes it hard to go!! This time, I went within a day, but as soon as I had given birth I started on the prunes. Last time I was given codeine as a pain killer which can cause constipation (I didn't know at the time) and it was terrible. I nearly had to go to hospital to get it sorted Sad. This time, I'm eating lots of prunes every day till everything has healed. I don't want to take any chances!!

So, no Father's Day babies today then?

I know this has been said before, but post-natal wardrobe selection is a nightmare. Different size every day and it takes ages to find something that fits and doesn't make you look 4 months pregnant. On the plus side, my spongy-belly is noticeably smaller every day so at least hopefully in a week I'll be back to normal clothes (apart from the mahoosive boobs!).

pinkapples · 17/06/2013 02:10

I'm awake feeding think we definitely need an entertainment thread when this is all over see how many of our babies are in. Sync with the forum hehe Grin

pinkapples · 17/06/2013 02:37

5 minutes! 5 minutes who thinks that is sufficient! Not me! But I'm to tired to be bothered I offered and she refused to go again so now soundly in basket asleep night night world... For now anyway

ginauk84 · 17/06/2013 07:47

I love pineapple, usually have it as part of my 5 a day so nothing new for me. I heard it was only if you eat the core it can work and that's only because it probably gives you a funny tummy, the same goes for a spicy curry I guess.

We're on the waiting list for water babies in August, have been for ages so I hope we get in! Hubby will have to take her to start with as I expect I will still be bleeding.

On that front, how bad is the bleeding in reality?

Midwife at 39 weeks on Thursday, she said I could book a sweep for 40 weeks but I don't know whether I will as 9 times out of 10 they just seem to be painful and not work.

Put blackout lining on the curtains yesterday and haven't had any effect as we have curtain poles - thought they might have had some effect but nothing! Really not keen on a blind idea as they can be dangerous, have seen them with the safety clasp but still scares me especially as cot is right under window.

pinkapples · 17/06/2013 08:13

I guess it depends in terms of bleeding mines not to bad now literally not even half a pad and I had vaginal delivery with 2nd degree tear

Stitches sore if I do to much walking about buy braved asda yesterday mayb tesco today as completely forgot what I went for Grin

Sicky baby at the moment last night was rubbish and washing is in now as she's sicked on sheets and grows!

AmIGoingMad · 17/06/2013 08:21

Pink have you been taking lactulose? That combined with bran flakes sprinkled with benefiber and grapes, accompanied by a big glass of orange juice helped me the first time with DS. I was terrified because of third degree tear and agree that the fear didn't help. Getting that first one out the way was quite a milestone! Ate dried apricots supposed to be as good as prunes? Does anyone know?

Bleeding wise I really can't remember but think I went through quite a few packs of pads- agree with whoever it was that said boots ones are the best ( those and Tesco one actually).

Still no signs at all here Hmm granted I'm not 39 wks til tomrw and that's on my dodgy scan dates, I'm later on my dates. All those people who kept saying I'd be early have a lot to answer for at the moment- grrrrr!

MrsBri · 17/06/2013 08:28

AmI, I feel your pain. Everyone at work was convinced I'd go early. Not much chance of that now though. Boo!

And yes, dried apricots work very well for relieving blockages! I've found that Brussels sprouts also work for some reason. No idea why!

I've taken lactulose the whole way through as well, which doesn't exactly stimulate it just makes it easier to go!

I'm rather tired after getting up just after 6.30 to make bacon sandwiches for DH as we didn't have them yesterday, as he was working all day. I've also sorted the clean washing and done the washing up, so it's time for a little nap now, I think.

Where has my sleeping girl gone? Awake from 430pm till half midnight, from 730pm onwards screaming. What have I done to break the baby this time? Finally passed out at half midnight and slept till five then refused to drop off again. I blame DH. He kept her up in the afternoon to play and keeps administering daddy cuddles to calm her down. Today is going to be ROUGH.
