I don't knowif its worth my while painting as we may only be there for one year, maybe 3, and if course the baby will be with us for a few months anyway! I was considering a circus theme and I want to do the ceiling like this!!!

Soupqueen · 18/06/2013 17:37

Happy birthday chickie, hope you're doing something lovely to celebrate.

Vey glad everything is ok, flyer.

We're renting aswell and aren't doing anything about decorating. We hope to move in about a year and the baby will be in our room anyway.

I do have to get a grip every time I look at beautiful nurseries though and remind myself that, of all the things this child will probably hate me for when it's a teenager, not having a nursery for the first year of its life will not be one of them. It will neither know nor care!

claphammama · 18/06/2013 17:50

congrats on your boy cuille! Is the world going to be taken over by men...? How scary is this thought??? Haha - do you mean you don't have a ham factory...? Doesn't everyone? :-)

and happy birthday chickien! Hope you are being spoilt rotten today? Anything exciting planned? And yes!!!! I saw Michel Roux at our dinner! He came out and talked to all the tables. He asked me about my scallops and I got very excited - so not cool. As you can see - still able to act like a teenager despite my geriatric age. I also have a photo with him which will hung in my kitchen. Saddo!

Sorry you feel low today roofio and shire you are not alone - I almost bit one guy's head off yesterday.

My "4 and three quarters" DS asked me last night, very casually, if I would miss him if he died... in response to my shocked look, he then told me that actually I will die before him "but not very soon as I'm still very young"... in case it's any consolation to other geriatric mums..."not very soon"...

Natalieand · 18/06/2013 18:00

Is anyone else's boobs leaking? Was just sitting here and my nipple itched a bit and as I touched it to itch it it was wet so I inspected further and with a little squeeze possibly milky colour but more clear fluid comes out! Already? I'm only 23+1

pinkbuttons · 18/06/2013 18:04

Happy Birthday chick! Hope youve had a great day.

Congrats on having a boy cuille

and glad all is ok flyer hope youre feeling better now.

Another one here that will be renting when baby arrives, were moving on Saturday and not all of the redecorating the landlord said hed do has been done including in both childrens rooms. Hoping it will work in our favour and we may just decorate one wall nicely in each room, so wont be too much effort but still look nice. Not that the baby will notice, think it will be more for DS' s benefit Smile

Flyer747 · 18/06/2013 18:16

Happy Birthday Chicken.

Am I the only one who doesn't know who this Michael Roux is?! A chef I'm guessing, I'm clearly so behind on the times.

OrangeBlossom2 · 18/06/2013 18:49

Flyer so glad all is well and that they could check you out straight away.

Congratulations on the scan cuille. Is that the last of our scans now?

Bridget, I am a year one teacher and did some of the phonics test with children today. Schools have to tell parents whether children have passed the screening check or not so you will find out, but they won't do so until all children have completed the test, which will be happening all this week. Don't stress about it, it is mainly a measure of the school and teachers and won't have an impact on your dd at all really, other than to flag up if she needs some extra support in year 2 which can only be a good thing. Her score will have no impact on her future and if she doesn't pass, she will have another chance to do the test next year. It is not a test of her reading abilities in terms of understanding books, it purely measures whether she can sound out words. It was a new test introduced by the government for all year ones last year.

Thanks for whoever said get well soon. My throat was a bit better today and managed without drugs. I had a very scary night though. At about 10 o clock I started to feel really really sick, my eyes wouldn't focus properly and the room started spinning like I was very drunk, my urine smelt funny and I kept switching between hot and shivery. I put my symptoms into the nhs symptom checker after 4 hours of feeling awful just in case and it said I might have pre-eclampsia and to get in touch with my delivery suite immediately. This sent me into a panic as I am only 22 weeks, too early to deliver, and that made my heart race, another pre-eclampsia symptom but caused purely by anxiety. So I called the 24 hour maternity triage at my hospital in a state at 2am. They said it is all probably due to my laryngitis and that the drs wouldn't do anything until morning anyway so to lay down in a dark room and try to sleep it off. I did and although I didn't get much sleep the room had stopped spinning by the morning and wasn't sick any more.

I wonder if the nausea was caused by a sore throat and I messed up my blood pressure by hanging my head over the bed into a bucket for hours.

I wasn't really fit for work today after that but had quite a chilled morning doing the phonics test with one child at a time and relied on TA to help me in the afternoon. Knackered now. Going to do a little bit more work on reports then get an early night to try to catch up on sleep.

roxvox · 18/06/2013 18:55

natalieand mine aren't leaking, but one of my pregnancy apps had something on it the other morning about buying some breast pads now and keeping them to hand, just in case they leak. So I am guessing it's relatively common!

MrsO27 · 18/06/2013 19:02

Glad baby is ok flyer and happy birthday chickie!
Natalie, your post scares me!! I'm not looking forward to leaks!

roxvox · 18/06/2013 19:05

orange that sounds like a very scary night. I am glad you're feeling better today.

clapham I am so glad you got to meet Michel Roux Jr! That's brilliant that he came around to everyone's tables. I can just imagine how you must've felt when you saw him come out of the kitchen and start talking to people Smile ... I met the lead singer of a band that I have loved for years last year, and I swear I just stood there open mouthed. I muttered something about being a fan and asked to have a photo taken with him and for a hug. He didn't chat to me for very long because I was incapable of 'chat' and basically made a muttering fool of myself. I still have the photo as evidence though, and had a big smile on my face for days after Grin

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 18/06/2013 19:07

Gosh Orange last night sounds like a very scary experience - how horrible!

You deserve a medal for managing to drag yourself into work after all that! Definitely have an early night, you must be completely shattered.

Thank-you for the info on the phonics test. I really appreciate you taking the time to reassure me when you probably just want to sleep x

OrangeBlossom2 · 18/06/2013 19:08

No problem Smile

Shootingstarsandcomets · 18/06/2013 19:11

Glad baby is ok flyer. Pregnancy is amazingly stressful, its a wonder we get through it in one piece!
I am so happy, my friend has just told me she is pregnant! Grin. They've been trying since before we had ds so a long time and I am thrilled to bits for her. Also it's nice to have a pregnant buddy in rl to whinge to!!!

claphammama · 18/06/2013 19:29

this sounds so scary orange... and yes, gold medal for making it to work despite feeling like this! Glad you feel better now. Hopefully a more restful night will get you back to normal!

Michel Roux is a famous chef flyer. And yes roxvox - this is exactly how I behaved! Other people are into film stars, footballers and musicians and I'm into chefs! I always thought this would be my alternative career if I could live a parallel life - I absolutely love cooking. However, I actually have a friend who is a chef (although not famous or brilliant at all) and he keeps telling me it's a terrible life working all evenings and weekends, in terrible heat and making the same dishes over and over again until you are sick of seeing them. This is not what I had in mind!

Also was talking to my GP about my concerns as I was so worried my stress would harm the baby. She reassured me that they are very strong and resilient little things, and placenta protects them from stress to a great extent. So stress can't harm the baby, only me. Thought I would share it in case other people have similar worries...

Haylebop12 · 18/06/2013 19:30

natalie no leaky boobs here... Yet. Was around 28-30 weeks with dd.

chickie happy birthday!

flyer glad baby is ok. Can't imagine how you must have felt. And you orange. These babies like to give us a fright don't they!

umlauf like natalie were also in a two bed, however dd's room is too small for baby so he will be with us until we move. We are looking at moving march next year when our tenancy is up. I'm gutted we aren't decorating like we did with dd but thinking about all the money and time I'm saving Grin

Going up to mcr the weekend to dh's house he still owns but rents out as our Moses basket, cot and baby toys are in the loft.

MotherOfNations · 18/06/2013 19:33

Natalie I've leaked colostrum from the 17wk mark in all of my pregnancies.

Shirehobbit · 18/06/2013 19:37

I'm seriously jealous of your Michel encounter, Clapham Envy Wink

After a small cry, big nap and nice pizza, I'm much calmer.

PseudoBadger · 18/06/2013 19:50

It's possible I might see Michel tomorrow at work.... And a few other chefs Wink

claphammama · 18/06/2013 20:02

wow!! what do you do for work pseudo??? Want to swap?

claphammama · 18/06/2013 20:03

ps. which other chefs?

PseudoBadger · 18/06/2013 20:05

I'm an EHO for Westminster council, tomorrow we are doing food hygiene inspections at Taste London

PseudoBadger · 18/06/2013 20:08

Basically any of these chefs :o
I know Alexis Gauthier quite well as I helped him with elements of his kitchen when he opened his soho restaurant.
/end name dropping

PseudoBadger · 18/06/2013 20:10

Oops I lied its Thursday....

claphammama · 18/06/2013 20:13

WOW! Enjoy and please never hurt Michel or Le Gavroche in your job :-)

chickieno1 · 18/06/2013 20:57

Thanks for all the birthday wishes ladies :). Was treated to a pedicure and foot massage earlier and dh is making dinner tonight! My sister is visiting and a friend is coming over too so it'll be a nice relaxing evening.

I think having a ham factory might increase chances of gestational diabetes Grin

Yay for picture with michel roux! Missed him at taste of London last year but my friend got a picture and signed book and gloated about it for ages!!

Thanks umlauf and MON will start of by measuring myself for bra. Do you have to get maternity ones or can you use regular ones??

We re renting at he minute and won't be doing up baby's room. I agree once they're fed, clothed, cuddled and loved that's the most important thing! He or she ll be in with us for at least 6 months anyway (found it very difficult to move ds1 to his own room)

Congrats on boy cuillerea
