We've pretty much decided on Claire if baby is a girl. I love French names and there are lots in Ireland with the Catholic thing...

So which is better?
Claire Yvonne
Claire Colette

Collette is really nice and girly

SSSandy · 29/05/2006 14:01

I find Claire Yvonne flows better
Claire Colette comes out more stilted when I try and say it

skerriesmum · 29/05/2006 14:01

but you wont say it out loud very often

I think Claire Yvonne rolls off the tongue nicely too. I like Colette too, but with Claire, too many 'C' sounds sound harsher (is that a word?!!!) and less flowing.

Violet2 · 29/05/2006 14:18

Claire Yvonne is lovely

skerriesmum · 29/05/2006 14:21

We almost went with Colette Claire, but now prefer Claire as the first name.

I like finding out people's middle names in graduation lists etc. One of my best friends has the middle name Ruth and she hates it!

I'm with those who feel Claire Yvonne flows better. It sound elegant :)

foundintranslation · 29/05/2006 14:44

Uwila · 30/05/2006 09:38

Yes, agree that Yvonne flows better.

CaptainDippy · 30/05/2006 10:31

Claire Yvonne!! Smile Does depend what your surname is as well though, I guess.

lenaschildminding · 31/05/2006 22:48

Definately Claire Yvonne, what will her surname be? You have to be sure the initials aren't dodgy too! If my son had been called Daniel Ford and he took each grandfathers names as middle names he would have been Daniel Keith Anthony. Sounds lovely, but then his initials would sound like coffee!!!Smile

Beauregard · 31/05/2006 22:51

Claire Yvonne sound's nice.

Piffle · 31/05/2006 22:53

I'm sorry the only Yvonne I know tried to steal my dp

I like Claire but not with either of those names

Trentsmomma · 20/12/2006 16:17

I know this post is a few months late. However I just wanted to say that when I have a little girl her name will be Claire Yvonne. Claire - becuz I have always wanted a little girl named Claire and Yvonne after my mother - her name is Yvonne Marie. Claire Yvonne will be her name!
