Babykitten - a boy! - arrived safe and sound late last night GrinGrin he is perfect, DH and I are smitten if not a little shell shocked from a pretty traumatic birth (which I'll share when I get home and can face typing it out!)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/09/2013 20:50

This is a rubbish update compared to kittens baby news and thingys team blue news but the samples came back from our loft.

A while ago I was complaining that dh thought we might have asbestos in the loft, the results are back and we have the all clear. Dh has been putting down new insulation today and the plasterer is due in on Thurs and Friday.

We are seriously cutting it close time wise, I am 35 weeks today and dd was 2 weeks early.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/09/2013 20:52

Oh it's the nursery we are decorating well dh is decorating I'm just doing the nagging

Alexandra6 · 22/09/2013 21:44

when I'm glad you waited for all clear. Our building work is going on at the moment for the loft conversion (I'm 31 weeks this week) and our nursery is nowhere near ready either. I'm not that worried though because the baby stays in with you at first anyway for a few months but of course I want to get it ready pre-baby ideally. I'll just be happy if all the painting is done because of the hassle and fumes, and I'm glad the plastering is done in good time to clear the house of dust. I can't wait for our house to be all ready and hopefully in good time for me to relax at home a bit before the birth! Everyone keeps telling me to relax an enjoy these last couple of months and treat myself a bit so I'd like to get time for a bit of that!

RedRobin1 · 23/09/2013 09:46

Oh i have missed loads...sorry work has been manic at the moment!

Big congratulations to you kitten a baby boy! How lovely :) Have you named him yet? Hope you are keeping well, sorry you had a traumatic birth.

Good to have the all clear when - fingers crossed it will all be ready on time before baby decides to make an appearance.

Hope bumpy is doing well alex I have done that before too with my laptop and felt equally guilty. I think they are well protected in there though and probably didn't feel anything.

Ooooh and another congratulations to thingy on team blue! It will be so lovely for your DSs to have another brother. The three musketeers :)

Hi to everyone else... will post back later!

alex how the hell are you 31 weeks, time is flying. You are right the baby will be in with me till 6 months, I really wanted the option of me going in with the baby so dh can get some sleep, if you think I'm being kind to dh I'm not he's just more useful too me after a decent nights sleep Grin

Does anyone know what that deleted message was about?

Alexandra6 · 23/09/2013 13:24

I know when eeeek! I am suddenly massively anxious about little things after spending the most of the middle part of the pregnancy feeling quite nice and relaxed. I'm wondering if it's all the change coming up and hoping it all works out ok although I've always been a bit of a worrier to be fair!

Totally agree about DH getting some good night's sleep when the baby is here, for me it's about him not being too shattered at work as he won't get the luxury of mat leave (I've been assured it's not a luxury when the time comes but still secretly think it is!)

Oh and that message was just spam!

Hi red don't work too hard! Smile

kittykatsforever · 25/09/2013 08:36

How are you feeling kitten? X

RedRobin1 · 25/09/2013 12:31

how is everyone doing?

fatas hopefully not long till your 20w scan now

how is baby dd kitty - how many weeks old is she now?

I am nearing the end of the second trimester... 25 weeks! Few more to go. Very excited to be entering the third trimester. I was telling DH the other day, I can't believe we've come so far. At the start of the pregnancy, with the sickness I really didn't think I was going to make it till the end. I was dreading the nausea day in and out and the first 3 months were a blur tbh. Second tri is really blissful... wonder what will happen in the third??!!! Ahhhh I get to meet baby soooon... Grin

Thingymajigs · 25/09/2013 13:01

Wow that has gone quickly red. I love your excitement, it's infectious. You are going to make a great mum. Btw I have always thought you would have a girl, no idea why though.
I have become a bit bogged down by the chore of moving and saving for house things but once that is out of the way I can get excited, start buying things and maybe even get started on the nursery.
What pushchair have you guys all decided on or bought? I'm now deciding between a Baby Jogger Versa and an Uppababy Vista but apparently there are lots of family friends with used pushchairs for sale.

Alexandra6 · 25/09/2013 14:00

Love your excitement too red Grin

So far my highlights of the third trimester have been actually feeling little limbs poking at me through my belly and little hiccups from the baby (think that's what they were anyway!) My bump does this cute thing, where if I cross my legs and lean forward (which is a habit I have when chatting), it jabs me in the leg as if to say "stop squashing me!" Grin

In other news, the loft conversion is coming along and I've chosen by baby cotbed!

Do you mean pram and pushchair thingy? (So from birth?) I'm going for the bugaboo bee due to it being small and light. I also liked the city mini jogger, brilliant one but I just didn't like it as much for a newborn, recommend looking at that one too though. It's the easiest thing in the world to fold and cheaper than the Bee.

Was just thinking my baby will be here by Xmas Grin

RedRobin1 · 25/09/2013 21:28

Awww alex the bump kicking you back is so cute! Haha mine does the same when I lie on my sides for too long.

thingy We went for the Stokke Xplory in the end as mamas and papas had a really good deal on and was the same price as the Uppababy. We couldn't fit the Uppababy in out boot and the Stokke fitted like a glove and was easy to fold and manoeuvre. Quite light to lift as well.

And you are the first person who has said that I may have a girl Smile I have had all boy guesses so far! I am dying to find out..I have a secret preference for a girl but I will be equally ecstatic with a boy too!

kittykatsforever · 26/09/2013 07:47

Red I had all boy guesses too, I think girl based on my old wives tale factual lack of hair growth method! Grin
Oh and kitten is 18wks now Shock infact 19this weekend, we have started some food now, where does the time go!

BelissimaLol · 27/09/2013 08:05

Wow red 25 weeks!!! It is funny how other peoples pregnancies seem to go fast but our own takes ages!!!
We will have to move to post natal soon at this rate!!!
How's kitten and baby??? Lovely pics and he is gorgeous!
On other news my baby is 2 months old today GrinGrin

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 27/09/2013 10:06

lol you are so right about everyone's pregnancies going fast except your own.

red are you finding out at the scan then? Very exciting.

alex my bump kicks my legs too, it's so cute.

thingy I've not bothered with a pram/stroller. When we had dd we borrowed a friends but dd was one of those Velcro babies so never went in it. I just used slings and a fantastic backpack from 5 months (they recommended from 6 months plus but dd was massive so I put her in a bit early).
Think I will wait to see what kind of baby I end up with before buying something dh and I are seriously tight fisted with cash

Thingymajigs · 27/09/2013 19:55

I think I might be going with your tactic when. I've been going around in circles trying to find the perfect pram/pushchair but I don't think any are worth the money. I've bought a Beco Gemini baby carrier today because I also carried ds2 more than I used the pushchair. I had about 10 different slings, wraps and carriers for him. So I guess there's no need for the "perfect" pushchair when I have a great carrier. I'll be on the bus four times a day anyway so I really won't want to be hauling a buggy around. I'll pick a second hand one up for under £50.
Can't believe how fast your babies are growing. It will soon be our turn. Who is next? I've forgotten.
