MrsV fucking hell, I thought my DH was a cuntpuffin. That's atrocious. I'm shocked - esp using the mc as a reason. Maybe he is 'worried' but that's not okay. Are you alright?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/06/2013 12:07

You lot are still making me Grin a lot, esp with your rebellious eating habits.
I think it's a v fair point that you don't actually get told any of this until the end of the first trimester ish (booking in appointment).

It's pretty hypocritical of the NHS to obsess over healthy eating/living and have all these guidelines, but then not bother to actually see pregnant women until nearly the end of the first and most risky trimester! I don't understand it, tbh, but I suspect it's a 'lack of resources' issue - my GP gave me no advice, no handouts, nothing except the referral, and I won't see anyone until nearly 11 weeks, by which time if I hadn't eaten carefully, taken folic acid etc, if those things were going to cause a problem, it would already be caused! Yes, I am intelligent enough to read up, and find out for myself. But there are plenty of women who can't read English well enough, or who don't understand the implications, or who don't have internet access, and they are the ones at risk.

Why don't you get a midwife appointment as soon as you find out? I know why, really, it's their cold 'oh well, you might not make it to the end of the first trimester, let's not bother' attitude, but that sucks. I'm hoping my midwife will prove to be ace, but right now, I feel as if there is no support offered by the NHS at all. I have no number to call (other than GP/101/999) if there's a problem, and I had to find the NHS baby emails myself, they weren't suggested by my doctor. I don't even have a list of local EPUs. Not that I can't find all this stuff - I can, and have, but I think it should be offered.

Rant over. I might have a runny egg for tea. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

flowersfortea · 07/06/2013 12:13

Afternoon all.
Mrsv I'm very shocked and sad for you. I hope you can have a wonderful weekend away and come back to a reformed man (with sparkling house and dinner on the table).

Nausea here is upping its frequency a bit but so far manageable if I keep my stomach full! So far my weight has been stable but this could be the start....

We're going away for the weekend too, posh country house hotel then not so posh travelodge tomorrow! Painting my nails and dusting off a summer dress in an attempt to look the part (ie a proper laydeee)...

Welcome to newcomers, and de-lurkers!

Sultanajo · 07/06/2013 12:14

Welcome nature congratulations! Nice to have u on board!

OMFG mrsv! The word cuntpuffin doesnt even begin to describe that! He may be worried and lashing out, but that is soooo unbelievably out of order! How does he think babies survive in third world countries FFS! Good he has apologised, but I would want to let him stew and then sit him down for a big talk! He needs to be supporting you, not treating you like a piece of shit on his shoe! Are you ok? Sad

Sultanajo · 07/06/2013 12:18

humpty I completely agree! My GP welcomed me with telling me 1 in 4 will end in mc and just checked I was taking folic acid. Then did my bp as an after thought. However, nothing further, so if I hadnt been reading up in advance I wouldnt have had a clue about anything!!

Gabbyj · 07/06/2013 12:24

MrsV hugs. Maybe if your dh is so keen for you to be ok and healthy he could stop stressing you out? Idiot!

alteredimages · 07/06/2013 12:49

Sorry to hear you're so ill farmers. Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome back pod! We missed you! Hope you feel much better soon.

Glad the booking in appt went well frizz.

MrsV, as others said, cuntpuffin doesn't even begin to cover it. My dh is no angel, comes from a culture which, to say the least, is not exactly renowned for women's rights, can be very emotionally abusive but he'd be out on his ear if he pulled that one. Perhaps you could not so gently remind him that the rate he's going, it won't be any of his business whether the baby is healthy or not (which I'm sure it will be) because he'll have fuck all chance of seeing it.
Also, I think he should be referred to only as "the cuntpuffin" for the remainder of your pregnancy.

Vatta · 07/06/2013 12:54

Had my booking in app today, and they've given me an A4 set of maternity notes that I'm supposed to keep with me ALL THE TIME.

Is that really right? She said I should take them to work with me in case anything happens while I'm there, but maybe she was meaning if I went away for work or something?

I've never noticed pregnant women suddenly carrying A4 bags everywhere so am hoping I misunderstood....

Frizz1986 · 07/06/2013 13:01

vatta yep u really are supposed to take them everywhere. I got mine in the post with my booking and and completed it with mw today. She has kept it so that all my details can be put in the system and I get it back at my 12 week scan.
As i drive I am ok as can keep things in the car ready and available.

mrsv can't believe what that message said. That is totally unacceptable. Am thinking maybe he has just over freaked out and it taking it out on u which is a big no no!

farmersdaughter · 07/06/2013 13:27

Frizz - brilliant news about your appointment. Glad your MW is lovey makes all the difference.

Toby - I called my friend who's coming this weekend and explain everything. She going to call later and if I'm not better she won't come.

Nurture- bigs waves. Welcome. I this your first baby?

Mrs - holy cow, what a truly horrid thing to say to anyone. I am shocked and quite crossed on your behalf.

Humpty - eating habbits I hear you. Had a dippy egg last week, didn't even think about it until I'd finished the 2nd egg Grin whoops!

Yesterday whist feeling sick I had a large amount of salt and vinegar Pringles and a can of coke. Felt so much better for several hours. Today, trying to be a bit healthier I had brown toast and a glass of apple juice and promptly chuck whole bloody lot up! So frankly I will eat that my body tell me to eat. Will be stacking up on the salt and vinegar crisps. Too bad if its not good for me, Permanent nausea is bad for morale.

Vatta - hell no, I didn't. Do take them if you go away, just in case. And carry them in the later stages too. I certainly didn't carry mine around my handbag. Lots of people do, up to you.

On a wonderfully positive note my darling friend had a baby this morning, 3 weeks early. Brilliant news to get. And I've stopped throwing up too. Woohoo Grin

Thank you for all being so sweet to me earlier, made me feel much better Thanks

rosalux · 07/06/2013 13:27

vatta yep you really do have to take your yellow book everywhere with you (within reason). It's because everyone who sees you during your pregnancy will make notes and then all your info is collected in one place and easily referred to. I assume they make copies though, but if you go on holiday etc you should take it with you. Also, it's not actually yours to keep and after the baby is born they take it back (and hide it) so if you want a reminder you should make a copy before you go into labour.

Am loving the DH names - cuntpuffin is my favourite, possibly because I was hugely disappointed when I saw some on the isles of scilly recently - they are so small! I was expecting penguin size Sad

rosalux · 07/06/2013 13:28

I should clarify, I saw some puffins on the isles of scilly - not cuntpuffins Blush

TobyLerone · 07/06/2013 13:34

How are you doing now, farmers? Feeling any better?

I don't carry my notes everywhere with me. I take them to appointments, but that's all. Maybe later on I'll keep them in the car.

MrsVDB · 07/06/2013 14:42

Thanks everyone. The cuntpuffin is now grovelling and I'm diverting all his calls.

Carrying round an a4 folder from 10 weeks seems ridiculous !!

Sultanajo · 07/06/2013 14:49

I was told to carry my notes with me everywhere as if I needed a scan they wouldnt do it without my notes. Well so far I have forgotten to take them anywhere, but I may put them in my car so most of the time they will be with me....

MrsGSR · 07/06/2013 15:04

farmers sorry you're feeling crap, hopefully it won't last long!

MrsV I'm glad he's grovelling, the text was massively out off order! I hoe he does all the housework for the next year to make it up to you!

humpty I agree about not being given enough information at the start. Just a print out of a few of the nhs pages would be better than nothing, especially for teenage mums who might not think to look that kind of thing up.

I can't remember what else had been said (did we decide it was to early for baby brain or can I use that excuse?) we just went to asda and saw moses baskets reduced to £14, we weren't planning on buying anything till the 20 week scan but there were only 3 left so we bought it! I figured we could probably sell it on for what we paid if we decide not to use it :)

4athomeand1cooking · 07/06/2013 15:18

Hi Everyone. I have been seriously quiet lately but good to see most of you still here.

Can you believe it has taken me all morning to catch up on the old thread and then this one.

We are just in Limbo here waiting for our next scan. Had a great MW appointment on Tuesday but came home to the smallest amount of brownish discharge. I have had pain all week in my right side so went to EPU.

The scan shows I am one week behind my dates. I know when I DTD and the date that I got my BFP would have been 6 days past. They have put me back 1 week to 5.6 days but I found out with BFP 3 weeks ago.

Because of this consultant thinks pregnancy might be slowing down and need to go back on the 18th.

We did see the HB though although Sonographer didn't say much. Thankfully they have found no reason for the pain and I have had no spotting since.

Re notes. I cant believe how much paperwork the MW's have to do now. I had to take a smoking test and everything!!!! I normally carry my notes once I get into my last few weeks.

enjoyingscience · 07/06/2013 15:30

MrsV what an utter dick. You poor thing. I hope he apologises from the bottom of heart.

Nausea feeling a bit better today. I'm thinking bhaji overload last night might have reset my system somehow Hope everyone else feels alright! Farmer yours does sound a lot like a bug. In the nicest possible way, I hope it is, as it might be gone in a day or two.

I take notes to appointments, but not everywhere. Maybe from 36weeks they might live in the car, but not before because my car is an unholy tip

((hugs)) to 4athome - what a shit situation. hope the 18th shows everything is as it should be.

Frogcatcher · 07/06/2013 15:32

MrsV def cuntpuffin! My DP can be a bit of an arse sometimes but has been better about pg related stuff since we had our scan & I got my bad news about work.

Rosa LOL I really thought they existed for a moment there!

DP's niece aka feckless teenage mother forgot to take her notes with her to a mw appointment & they just wouldn't see her. Shock at both how useless she is & that fact.

My GP hasn't even seen me & they had run out of Bounty packs so I have had no official guidance at all on what to do. I only know I'm not making it up cos I paid for a scan.

Oh & I managed to get another £10k settlement out of my employer after I told them I was pg & the offer wasn't enough.

cosmickitten · 07/06/2013 16:21

Frog fab news about getting a better settlement from work.

Re GP I got a tiny bit of advice no raw egg, no raw meat, maybe less coffee. Then told to check NHS website.............not all that helpful. Then no booking in until over 10 weeks pregnant. Not great.

LittlePeaPod · 07/06/2013 16:31

Farmer hope you feel better soon.

Bikey I started with complete food aversion at 6 weeks which progressed to full blown shitty HG (Hyperemesis Gravidarum) by the end of the week... Sorry cant help on what to eat be ause i generally struggle to eat anything. nothing works for me. So it could be your ms starting. FX its not too bad for you. With regards the public area pain. I had that, it's just your uturus stretching. It comes and goes..

Fizz lad our MW appointment went well and good luck for Sunday?

MrsV I am utterly applaud by your DH message regarding your food. There is no justifiable excuse for speaking to anyone like that. sorry i understand its not my place to judge. If my DF said anything like that to me, we would not be together and he knows it. It's unacceptable for anyone to be so nasty and rude particularly when you are feeling vulnerable. That's real disrespectful and shitty behaviour. I hoe you are feeling better Flowers. Toby is right, I have HG. And I will eat whatever I can keep down. I don't care if its a fried mars bar or choc ice.....

Humpty I Am sorry you are having such a shitty experience with MW support. It shocks me that things are so different in different areas. I have seen my MW 3 times and first time was in week 4 just after we found out, even though she could not officially book me in till week 8. She did all my bloods at week 4 and went through food dos and donts then.. She then booked my 16 week in at my 8 week appointment and I have her mobile number and and emergency number if I can't get hold of her.

Well this working from home murlarky is pants.. Not doing much really. Sat in the garden drink (yeap actually drinking) vimto and not yet hurled it up. Also had 5 baby new potatoes (boiled with lots f salt). For me that's a real achievement. Grin

welcome and congratulations to all the new ladies with BFPs Flowers

Hi everyone.

Great news frog!

Hope you're feeling better and you have received a huge bunch of Thanks MrsV.

Just back from my booking in. Bizarrely it took even longer this time despite the fact it was a case of checking over notes from last time. 'No, DP and I are still not blood relatives.' 'Yes, my paternal grandfather is still dead from a heart attack.' Confused

My favourite bit was when the midwife refused to believe I am not, not ever have been, a smoker because their computer said I am...

Sultanajo · 07/06/2013 16:51

4athome being in limbo is just awful. Will keep everything totally crossed for you!

pod what a massive achievement! So pleased for u! Long may it continue! Boiled new potatoes are something I quite fancy today....not sure I have the energy to go out though....

Having quite an emotional day today - nausea is +++ which is probably the route of it! I burst into tears because I dropped a knife on the fucking floor and felt too sick to bend down and pick it up! Also am now getting paranoid about the downs testing and am seriously considering forking out for harmony testing..... www.innermostsecrets.com/left-menu-items/Pregnancy/Testing-for-Down-Syndrome/harmony_blood_test.aspx

I just cant bear the thought of going thru all this and then getting a high risk nuchal result and ending up with an amnio which could result in mc and all could have been fine anyway! Worry, worry, stress, stress! Going to talk to DH tonight and see what he says - am really hoping he agrees with me. Will probably be a crumpled heap on the floor if he doesnt the way things are going today..... Wow, pity party much? Sorry ladies....Blush

cosmickitten · 07/06/2013 16:58

4athome sorry to hear you're having such a worrying time. The not knowing must be so hard. THinking of you x

TobyLerone · 07/06/2013 17:01

I'm with you, Sultana. I'm worrying about that stuff, too.
