Ready-am always starving! Especially in the morning or middle of the night. But manage to resist eating in middle of the night and just wake up and dash to kitchen instead.

Anyone else stupidly emotional? I woke up almost crying this morning, no idea why. Then managed to pull myself together and ended up crying at a dog food advert... ?! I mean 'dog food' I've gone mad! Hope this doesn't get worse as about to enter third trimester and can't get any worse!! Shock Think dh is a bit bemused, he keeps hugging me but looks v confused bless him...

JammyTummy · 22/06/2013 10:00

Fozzie it's not the Caesar advert is it? Cause if so you are well within your rights to be crying! Yes I was definitely weeping on Thursday night when it came on in front of our friends who were over for tea...

Keepsmilingsunshine · 22/06/2013 10:05

I had my GTT this week, she did my 28 week bloods at the same time which is a bonus as they should be back in time for my next MW apt, next week. My view is always better to be safe than sorry Smile.

The braxton hicks are such an odd feeling. It's a tightening feeling that radiates all over my bump. They are uncomfortable but not painful, and have lasted 20 - 40 seconds each time. I have been getting them most days for a little while now, but only 1 or 2, but on Thursday night I had a dozen or more one after the other. If I was 10 weeks further along I would have been hoping it was the start of something!

Fozziebearmum2b · 22/06/2013 10:19

Haha! Jammy it was the Cesar advert-glad its not just me then! Smile

Peabody25 · 22/06/2013 10:19

Juniper9 They've not said what it was, waiting for the doc to ring back on Monday. The nurse I spoke to after having it done said it was only a slight abnormality and nothing to worry about. Was only when I'd rung up to chase that the receptionist said it was classed as urgent. He was meant to ring me back yesterday but didn't! Blood pressure has been normal all the way through and pulse is fine!

frogchops · 22/06/2013 10:27

Emotional? I didn't know the meaning of the word until now! I just looked at a phone app that said I have 12 weeks and 5 days to go. Then I realised that's not long AND even if I go 40 weeks. The tears just came from nowhere. DP is confused with how to deal with this!
The boy meanwhile is preparing his trapeze act and Olympic trampoline on bladder routine.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 22/06/2013 10:44

Pea, I had a ECG in my last pregnancy, which showed up a slight heart murmur. I only started getting symptoms because of the extra strain your heart is under when pregnant. Apparently one of my valves goes "whoosh", beyond that I have no idea what it means! I've never had any problems with it aside from during pregnancy, and I've not needed any treatment or monitoring. When pregnant I get palpitations that can be strong enough to make me gasp, and that's it.

Did the hospital say who had said it's urgent? It could well be that the scan department said it was urgent, but not the cardio doctor who grades it. I used to do outpatient for a different department, and we would often get referals from GPs saying things were urgent, when they were actually just annoying for the patient, so they got graded back down to routine so as not to jump ahead of someone who was at risk.

Even if the cardio doctor says it's urgent, that could well be because you're pregnant. If there is any issue, they'll need it under control before labour, so they'd rather see you sooner.

I'm sure everything will be fine, but if you're worried about, phone back and tell them so. I used to get one of the nurses to call patients back if they were worried and the consultant was busy.

ION, last night I wasn't sleepy at my usual time, so I stayed up painting. DD1 decided that sleep was for the weak, so woke everyone up repeatedly last, and we still had to get up early for the plasterer arriving. Shock So now I feel ravenously hungry again! just had my second breakfast, eggs on toast, and it didn't even touch the sides. Going for porridge now!

MrsMangoBiscuit · 22/06/2013 10:46

*last night

Peabody25 · 22/06/2013 11:30

MrsMangoBiscuit That's really reassuring thanks! It was the doctor at our local surgery who graded it as urgent when referring me to the hospital! Hopefully it is just with me being pregnant. I've had ECGs before and they've always come back normal, so fingers crossed. Thanks though!

juniper9 · 22/06/2013 12:12

Pea the normal wait for a referal can be up to 18 weeks, and by then you won't be pregnant (hopefully!). Maybe it is just to jump the queue.

Geesescareme · 22/06/2013 15:34

The highlight of my day has been going to tesco and finding maternity pads for 98p for 10 on 3 for 2 :) and also packs of 4 'full briefs' for £2.50. They also had packs of 3 sleepsuits for £5 instead of the normsl £7, quite nice designs in. Stocking up!

badguider · 22/06/2013 15:57

I was just going to say that normal waiting times are 18 weeks when you won't be pregnant and will have a very small baby to look after when they call you for your appt. I'm pretty sure that's why a sic would try to have it seem as "urgent".

Fozziebearmum2be · 22/06/2013 17:50

Had a mega shopping day and starting to feel a bit prepared. Got the travel system, carseat a couple of cute outfits and some all in ones and sleep suits.

But, wondering how many people have bought of each? And what sizes? My bump is huge so bought sizes 0-3 months instead of newborn as reckon newborn would only last a week if at all....but tbh I have no idea what Im doing....!

Also do they sleep in long sleeved stuff or sleep suits?

May sound like daft qns, but I really have no idea and don't want to overbuy or end up with too little.

We're also team yellow which doesn't help as everything seems to come in pink/blue, so ended up with a load of white/grey stuff with sheep on.

Never seen so many sheep in my life!!! Smile but reckon I can always buy gender stuff over the Internet when it's here.

juniper9 · 22/06/2013 18:30

Fozzie I was disappointed to discover that you need to stick a baby grow on top of vests- what's the point of buying cute vests if you cover them up?! I've redirected my attention to cute baby grows now.

Is anyone planning on buying trousers/ skirts/ dresses etc? Or just sticking with bedtime type clothes until they're bigger?

frogchops · 22/06/2013 19:19

Not silly qs at all fozzie....we've been given lots of vests so we have a load of newborn and 0-3.
I'd like to keep him in baby baby stuff and not 'normal' clothes for as long as possible. They have their whole lives to wear normal stuff so if like to prolong baby for as long as I can!!

andadietcoke · 22/06/2013 19:23

fozzie no idea how many but Next have got some really lovely 3 and 4 packs of bright coloured unisex sleepsuits - I'm not so keen on pink pink pink and these would work equally well for girls or boys Smile

JammyTummy · 22/06/2013 19:45

I was told by a girl working at mamas & papas that age 0 will 9 times out of 10 completely swamp even a fairly big baby, so she recommended getting a full wardrobe in newborn sizes first.
I think we have about 14 sleep suits now, and not as many vests, but need to get more of those. Have probably about 5 or 6 hats, few pairs of mittens, few pairs of socks and two pairs of bunny shaped baby slippers- they are soooooo cute.
I'm also avoiding actual outfits for as long as possible, mostly because tiny baby sleep suits with feet are the most adorable things ever and partly because I can't help but feel slightly sorry for tiny newborns wearing scratchy denim jeans!

jennimoo · 22/06/2013 19:50

I'd get newborn size, but maybe only wash one or 2, then return the unopened packs if you get a big one! DD was teeny so in newborn a month or two. I'd also regimens getting tonnes of vests and suits (again, leave in pack and return if you like...) as you can get through lots sometimes...

TripleRock · 22/06/2013 20:17

I agree, even size newborn fairly drowned DD for weeks, and she was 6lb 12oz, so petite but not unusually so.

She was also a real sicky baby and would go through 3 to 4 outfits a day, so having tried my best not to overbuy on newborn, DH had to rush out on day 3 and buy pretty much double again...

Good strategies are having unopened packets with receipts that can be returned, or laying your hands on plenty of hand me down spares.

CharlW1 · 23/06/2013 12:05

I have been given literally loads of hand me downs now so don't think I will need to buy any new born or 0-3 at all. Infact after everything we gave been given I think all I need to get is a breast pump, nappies and muslin clothes!

Enjoying a day in the park with my nephew today - though I am also being witness to the terrible 2's - bless him.

Dorita75 · 23/06/2013 18:50

Emotional? Yes. DP has gone on a stag do which involves a 40 mile bike ride in Wales. Before he left I had to keep fighting back tears convinced something bad would happen to him. Ridiculous emotional response!!

Joskar · 23/06/2013 18:54

I went shopping today in a wheelchair. Being in a wheelchair totally sucks. I cannot imagine how dreadful it would be to have to live like that the whole time.

I went into Mamas and Papas and had my mind twisted by a young lass who told me everything there was to know about prams. I came out not much wiser and totally baffled as to what you actually need because I can't believe that I need to spend £700 on a travel system. I'd better not have to because I ain't got it. Is it cheaper to buy all that stuff as separates? What do I need to spend money on? I live up a dirt track so I know the pram needs to be pretty robust but I've owned cars cheaper than some of these travel systems! Owwwww! My head hurts now. Time to lie in a darkened room.

jennimoo · 23/06/2013 19:37

First time around I spent £150 on a Phil & teds 2nd hand and bought a carseat new. Then got an umbrella fold maclaren once DD was sitting upright for £100. It needn't cost a fortune!

Unfortunately the buggyboard we bought doesn't fit on the Phil & teds so I got a quinny buzz from a local Facebook selling group: just £55! I haven't used it properly yet but so far much prefer it.

Fozziebearmum2be · 23/06/2013 20:27

Thanks for all the tips on buying baby clothes, think Ill get some newborn stuff too just in case. Not loads, as we can always ask my mum to get something if we're stuck and reckon people will buy us things. Also my MIL told me last night that dh was nearly 9lbs when he was born Shock Can't help but think this baby's going to be a bruiser as bump's huge...

Also been drinking like a fish -anyone else always thirsty? I've been like this for months and seem to drink about 2.5-3 litres of water per day plus loads of fruit, plus fresh orange etc so probably almost 4ltrs of liquid which makes me think I have gestational diabetes. My dad is type 1 diabetic so well aware of the symptoms... Really hope not Shock GTT test on 4 July....

Travel systems are a complete minefield! I spent ages researching them.. We decided to buy new, just because we want maybe 3dcs so want to buy something which will last and with options to add on seats/boards etc. But entirely up to you and what you want-much cheaper things on the market than £700 though! I've got JL to price match the Uppababy Vista for £599 but sure you can get things vastly cheaper if you hunt around-depending on what you want. A friend of mine bought the Hauck travel system for about £350, their ds was only born a couple of days ago so no idea what it's like.

Sorry to hear you're in a wheelchair-pregnancy can be a real nightmare sometimes, but least you'll get something wonderful at the end of it which will be worth it Smile

mrspaddy · 23/06/2013 20:38

Hello.. first timer on this.. due first week in Sept. I bought
white vests/gro's in 0-3 but one pack of three newborns too.

Will get myself down to Tesco! Love the ballon type sleepsuit's out of Next.. maybe they will have their sale soon.

We have been offered the lend of a moses basket so that has saved a few pound Grin also less things to store when they are finished as we will return it to owner.

I got a lovely little Romper suit with hat 'Finally Arrived' in red for the first outfit/keepsake box.

Just getting so, so big now. Bumping into everything. Dinner stains from bump hitting side of plate, finding pubic toilet doors tricky too. Hee hee.
