Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Girraferama · 17/06/2013 12:21

Thanks fit and ready - that's clarified it!

LCR77 · 17/06/2013 12:40

Eek! Start of the third trimester today, starting to feel very real all of a sudden.

DP and I are at a stalemate with names, decided ages ago on a middle name but cannot agree on any first names. I don't like any of his suggestions so far and I had my heart set on a first name and have done for a few years but he didn't initially like it. Am hoping he might come around...Anyone else struggling to agree on names?

juniper can understand your annoyance it is frustrating, best to have a chat and maybe stay at home stuffing your face and watching cheesy movies he hates for social events that are going to be a nightmare. Had a struggle on my hands Friday at a friends' wedding as DP got pretty hammered, took ages to leave then was threatening to throw up on the hour drive home. I did manage to have a good time though and me and bump had a very good dance.

Mooster1709 · 17/06/2013 13:34

jenni mine felt like a bruise by the evening I'd had it, and still does now (4 days later) but not too bad at all (sister couldn't sleep on left or change gear though, so looks like different reactions...)

kimjayne · 17/06/2013 14:35

Jenni - I had mine first thing in the morning on Thurs and it was fine for most of the day. Then all of a sudden it felt like I had been punched in the arm! I struggled to sleep on that arm for 2 nights. I'm not normally too bad with jabs etc so wasn't expecting it.
Makes me wonder if I am just a massive wimp? And if so .... how the bleeding hell am I meant to cope with childbirth?? :( eeek
Would be interested in how you find it?
ION - it's my 2nd day on my Iron tablets and I am feeling more tired than I was before?? I guess they need longer to kick in properly!? Anyone else taking them following the 28 weeks bloods?

jennimoo · 17/06/2013 14:53

Thanks for the info Kim and mooster, I look forward to seeing how it feels later! It already hurts to sleep on my left as that hip is the worst, although as of yesterday my right shoulder hurts too so should be fun!

I haven't heard anything from 28 week bloods so assume all is well...

jennimoo · 17/06/2013 14:54

And on the wc jab at least we'll be more sensitive when our LOs have the jab, it's the same as they have at (I think) 8 weeks?

kipsonline · 17/06/2013 15:19

I had the WC jab last wk and didn't have any bruising or reaction, but it was the day I ended up being admitted with DVT so I might just have been distracted ;)

We are also stumped on names (mainly because we have used the only boys names we could agree on plus all close family names with previous 2 DS so 3rd time around if feels like a near impossible task!) in my experience I have never managed to win my DH over to a name he hasn't liked from the start but he is a v stubborn old bugger

fl0b0t · 17/06/2013 16:43

Hi all! Just got back from long weekend with the inlaws (applause now). SIL's baby's chirstening :-) I am now a "god"parent as well as an aunty! MIL remembered not to load and run and unload dishwasher in the room under our bedroom the first night and morning we visited (as it's usually done after midnight and before 7am (both), but forgot evening number two.... ah well. Luckily was knackered enough to sleep well. Have coped. I am finding everyone's slightly thoughtless comments towards me hillarious (misplaced hormones?). I love my body so much right now (even my ridiculous boobs which have taken over every photo of me this weekend!) that all the silly comments seem to roll off! Phew!

Readytosettle · 17/06/2013 16:48

mooster I'm keeping my notes in the plastic wallet that Bounty issued (before u collect the bag). Works brilliantly, but I haven't been carrying them around in my handbag!

JammyTummy · 17/06/2013 17:34

Oh we are in a serious situation with names! We thought that girls' names would be a breeze but ended up completely stuck. DH doesn't like anything I come up with, and unfortunately all the (few) names he can think of are kind of like the words he comes up with when playing scrabble: 'it', 'stick', 'that'...

JammyTummy · 17/06/2013 17:36

Following the 'Kiera is too catholic' shocker from DH I asked him to come up with a list of 10 names that he likes, which are not in a top 20 list and which have not been used by anyone we know for their kids. That was over a week ago and he still hasn't done it, so I told him that he has forfeited his right to naming the child and I'll be the decider... Blush

Mooster1709 · 17/06/2013 17:37

I think my midwife/PCT are anti-Bounty. Haven't had a thing from them, so no wallet/freebies. Not complaining though, as can do without the advertising...

Readytosettle · 17/06/2013 17:52

Is it wrong to deliberately delay the name decision until the birth? I'm thinking that's when my negotiating position will be strongest....9 months on the wagon, followed by xx hours of excruciating pain, left with a flabby, bleeding, exhausted body and all I want in return is a name (and a few more diamonds on my finger)??

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 17/06/2013 18:25

I'm with you on that strategy Ready! I have lots of names in my head but have resisted even opening up the convo with DH. I'm just wondering how close to the wire it'll be before he thinks of it... but interesting moment this weekend with ILs - DS randomly asked MIL what her mummy was called, she told him and said she still thinks it's a lovely name, and DH was right in there with "we've already used one from your side for number 1, got to give other great-GPs a shout at names next!"

ION today I had a sore knee from a stupid accident carrying boxes around the house today. Used Ibuprofen gel all yesterday (researched it early in pg and found it's ok) but went for a stick-on pain relief plaster from Boots this morning, as there was nothing on the box about not using it in pg. Smelled of menthol all day (it's called Salonpas) but it did seem to offer some good relief. Read the leaflet properly this afternoon and lo and behold, methyl salicylate is an NSAID and bad in pg, but a bit less bad in the third tri. Annoyed that I didn't ask the pharmacist this morning, but tbh they probably would have refused to sell me anything whatsoever and I would have been in pain as well as grumpy.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 17/06/2013 18:26

duh, stupid accident was yesterday...

fl0b0t · 17/06/2013 18:47

haha ready great idea! We've chosen first names (about erm... 18 months ago!!) and just stuck on middle names but not arguing yet!

Have ordered my emmas diary packs (well, downloaded the forms), so will go claim soon (if I remember!).

JammyTummy · 17/06/2013 20:12

Yes I think I will be sticking to that plan from now on- no further name discussions necessary!

JammyTummy · 17/06/2013 20:13

Ps has anyone else found that they've grown lots of skin tags since they got pregnant? Oh they're so gross and I would love to pull them all

JammyTummy · 17/06/2013 20:14

Off!

-sorry for all my double posting today! Chubby thumb keeps pressing wrong button-

MrsMangoBiscuit · 17/06/2013 20:15

Rake, I hope you're knee is better soon. I also have my notes in the bounty folder, despite the fact that they're not allowed in my chosen maternity hospital, I just got handed a pack by the midwife.

I got asked to attend a GTtest, but I declined. I had one last time round, I'm not diabetic, have no history of it, no symptoms. I am, however, 6' tall and did weight training until I was pregnant, so my BMI is higher than they would like. Tough! Grin We have to fast for them here, and I am not spending half a day starving and dizzy, hauling a toddler all over, just so they can agree that I don't have diabetes. Midwife did this Hmm but consultant did this Grin, told me I was quite sensible and said so in my notes! Grin

ION, I have had to accept defeat and buy some new bras. I was hoping they wouldn't grow, but they have, so much so that I have actually managed to snap the wiring on my normal bras! Blush

jennimoo · 17/06/2013 21:31

Having a mini-panic. Baby has been kicking very strongly and way more than usual this evening, and had wc jab today.

I'm sure it's just that he's in a particularly good position for me to feel but can't help being a teeny but worried. I even did the silliest thing and googled it but there isn't even reports if it coming up on there!

I guess no one else had greatly increased movements?

CharlW1 · 17/06/2013 21:54

Hi Jenni I have massively increased movement today but haven't had wc jab so it could just be pure coincidence. Reading every weekly update going it does say we may start to feel baby move more as they grow and start to run out of room so it could just be this.

ION I swear I can see the beginning of stretch marks under baby bump Hmm ! putting layers more cream on to hopefully prevent any more!

jennimoo · 17/06/2013 21:58

Thanks charl.

And I've already got a couple of stretch marks. Didn't get any til last few days with DD although did use bump oil stuff last time and haven't this time...

KamikazeeKid · 17/06/2013 22:52

jammy I got skin tags with ds and more on way! Its v annoying and I hate them. Some are flatter so I can't nip them! Luckily they are not in easily visible places.

I had really big and constant movement with bump whilst in hospital but I've had less since and keep pAnicking but am getting some movement I thought about reduced space but thought they can still spin round,
I've got to admit last weeks events have knocked me as I'm now so worried and not enjoying my pregnancy which is upsetting. :-( I'm still shedding brown blood I thought would have stopped by now.

Kips how are you post hospital?

Joskar · 17/06/2013 23:04

Kami thinking of you. Hope the panic goes away soon and that you can relax. I'm sure the hospital wouldn't have let you go if there was anything to worry about. Phone your midwife? Take care Flowers
