Congratulations to Paolo and his lovely girls! Wishing Mrs Paolo a swift recovery.

All quiet on the western front today (for that is what it looks like).

Any tips on how to scratch an itchy back when both arms cramp trying to reach? I'm going for copying the cat and squirming while laying down.

I went to a class on self relaxation and hypnosis on Friday. It was quite interesting until the tutor mentioned earth energy, then my inner woo alarm bells went off. Worth having been to though, I think, for the techniques around calming and focusing. Did I say this already? Having a bit of a deja vu feeling.

Abzs · 02/06/2013 22:18

Notprincesskate - snap. 35+0, looking massive front and back!

CitizenOscar · 02/06/2013 22:39

Congrats Paolo! Hope you all get home safely & can start adjusting to the new normal! Smile

Feeling huge & unwieldy now (35 weeks). On maternity leave but looking after DS1 so not much rest yet! Really hoping DS2 arrives on schedule or perhaps a little early... Not sure I can waddle around much longer!

But shouldn't complain because am otherwise well, just uncomfortable.

Best wishes to all those suffering more & those with newborns to squish already.

MarieKL · 02/06/2013 22:47

Congratulations Paolo and Mrs Paolo. Enjoy getting to know your lovely girls.

Ginger thinking of you and hoping the suspected blood clot turns out to be just that.

Persuasion feel free to rant away. Ongoing back ache plus all the other niggles just aren't much fun. I hope you manage to find some relief soon.

Cheek really exciting news on the house. I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly.

I'm defintely with everyone who is feeling huge. Love Slouchingpandas idea for the scrubs. My current reply to anyone asking me if I know what I'm having is 'a baby I think but could be a kitten'. That's if DS doesn't get in first with his 3 options, long hair, short hair or no hair!

dinkystinky · 03/06/2013 06:18

Cheek - such exciting news about your house offer being accepted. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly. Thanks for asking about ds1 - I think he's settled down abit at school. First week back now so I guess time will tell. He has strong dyspraxic and dyslexic tendencies (while being a bright boy) so it may be that those aren't helping much either.

Slouching - not long to go now!

Abzs - can you scratch that itch on the corner of a wall? Or a tree - like Baloo from jungle book? Re relaxation class - as with everything to do with parenthood, my top tip is to take from it what you personally find useful and ignore the rest. I did hypnobirthing for ds2's birth - some was a bit full on so I ignored that and focused on the relaxation techniques and mantras I personally found useful. Glad you had a day off from the earthworks.

VinegarDrinker · 03/06/2013 08:30

Congratulations Paolo and MrsPaolo!

Slouching - hah, I am with you on the embroidered scrubs! Especially "no I'm not having her here, please don't take it personally".

In awe of those dealing with house moves at this stage!

dinkystinky · 03/06/2013 12:54

I see from FB that we've had another thread early arrival - doubtless the new mum will be on shortly to update us. What is it with all these early babies? Never had so many early babies arrive among friends expecting when I had DS1 or on my antenatal thread with DS2.

shelley72 · 03/06/2013 13:54

afternoon all, made it back from holiday in one piece (just) and just trying to catch up on the thread now. congratulations on your new babies to emblosion, paolocee and the other mystery new mum (am not on FB). hope you are doing well ginger and beginning. i cant believe all of these early babies - they are so impatient Smile. hope those who have now finished work are enjoying their maternity leave in the sunshine.

as for me, i honestly dont think i will make it to july either. had another unexpected trip to hospital whilst on holiday after a bit of an accident, all was / is fine with the baby. im a bit bruised and battered but was ok once the shock wore off. you have lovely midwives ladies in cornwall. think i frightened my DCs though, DS in particular was a bit strange around me afterwards. he is a worrier bless him.

had my 36 wk appointment today and saw a different MW who cant be sure that the baby isnt breech so i am booked in for a presentation scan next week before final decision re VBAC v ELCS is made. makes sense i guess - though i am still terrified of the thought of going through a section again, even though we all made it through unscathed last time. this week i am getting myself organised and making meals, packing bags etc ready. am feeling a bit scared and sad that i may only have two weeks of being pregnant left EVER Shock

Thinkingof4 · 03/06/2013 14:10

Congratulations paolo on the safe arrival of your girls and to the other mummy on FB (not on there so not sure who it is)
Ginger hope you are being well looked after

Hope totally got on well with move I too can't imagine having to pack/unpack a whole house at this stage!!

vinegar hope your ear is feeling better, I'd keep going with olive oil and hopefully that will sort it

Another one here struggling in the heat, and starting to feel enormous, but only really when the sun comes out. It is great to have good weather though as much easier to entertain the wee ones outside.
Less than one month till due date now eek!
35+6

dinkystinky · 03/06/2013 14:11

God Shelley - I hope you and the baby are ok and your bruises are fading fast and not giving you too much trouble. Falls when pregnant are pretty scary. Sending you hugs and virtual chocolate biscuits.

Try and look on the presentation scan as another opportunity to see your baby rather than focusing on the final decision. Have you had a look at the natal hypnotherapy for VBAC or for Csection cds? Might help you with your concerns and anxieties about the way the baby comes out. But ultimately both you and your baby will be fine, whichever way they make their way into the world.

dinkystinky · 03/06/2013 14:13

Thinking its exactly a month to my due date from tomorrow! Am planning on getting the kids paddling pool out from when maternity leave starts and wallowing in it like a hippo if the summer actually starts in earnest before this baby arrives.

notprincesskate · 03/06/2013 14:34

Does anyone have any experience of having their waters broken as a means of starting labour? At my vbac appt I agreed that if I went into labour naturally then I would try for a vbac else I would have a section booked at around term, in all honesty with the information that the consultants were giving me I thought I had very little chance of getting to term let al

notprincesskate · 03/06/2013 14:43

Ahh phone.... Let alone going into labour, I asked and the consultant agreed that they wouldn't induce me as previous section and the risk that the vbac would fail anyway. Now I'm 35 weeks and starting to think I might actually get there after all, (after spending the last 15 weeks worrying unnecessarily!)
Anyway I asked about the possibility of being delivered at 38 weeks due to the GD ( i think thats the NICE guidelines) and whilst this is a possibility, they also said as its only diet controlled they could leave me, and then not induce me but break my waters as I'm keen on having a vbac- I don't really have strong feelings either way, apart from not really wanting to labour for hours and then to be sectioned anyway as baby not really ready to be born. Surely breaking my waters is a form of induction and what happens if it doesn't start labour? I'm going to ask m/w next time I see her but wondered if anyone had any experience or advice?

OhGood · 03/06/2013 16:33

Congrats the paolos - hope MrsP is recovering and your little twins are doing well.

persuasion is it a pulled muscle or PGP? I totally did my back in a few weeks ago and luckily found a white witch of a chiro who got my pelvis back in place and helped. it's awful and I sympathise.

notprincesskate it sounds to me that breaking your waters is exactly a form of induction.

Cheekbyjowl have you got any views on ECV?

I am a bit anti, partly because there's a risk and partly because this baby has been in exactly the same position for months and I just don't see him moving now. Need to see what a scan says though. Apparently there is a doc. at the hospital in Oxford who is a total guru at turning them, so I am going to beg for a referral to him if it comes to it.

dinkystinky · 03/06/2013 16:35

NPK - having your waters broken is a form of induction. When I went in to be induced with DS1, I was 2 cm dilated already - what they did was break my waters and then hook me up to the syntocin drip to make my existing contractions (which had been going on unbeknownst to me all day) much much stronger. Once you're on the drip, you're not as able to move round lots - though you can still sit on a ball/move around on the bed etc.

BadMissM · 03/06/2013 17:54

Paolo CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, Mrs Paolo and The Two Ronettes Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Me...33 weeks today. Feeling amazingly humungous, and at 32 week scan last week, they told me he was measuring at least 35. DH laughing at fact bump should pull me over.

Bit tired, have to keep stopping (which is annoying/frustrating). MIL driving me insane. Since she broke up with 87 year old bf, she is spending all the time at our house. Not so bad, but she expects to be entertained, and that I travel about with her...I don't get a free bus pass, and am tired! She also talks through any TV programme she doesn't like, and drives DH mad! I've also got so much to do before LO arrives!

Cheek Hope house goes OK!

Slouching You need to do those scrubs!

Shelley More scared about possibly having to go through a VB again....but they won't make a decision on my ELCS...

Falls v scary when pg, hope all OK now xxx

Dinky You might get to use that paddling pool now!

NPK They are still hesitating to make a decison on mine and I'm on insulin for the GD now..... even though NICE clearly says 38 weeks....

Let's see how many of us hang on into July!!!

Sashabella0 · 03/06/2013 18:01

Congratulations Paolo!

Thanks got all the kind words regarding my grandad. Funeral is this Thursday.

I went to the Wychwood festival and had a lovely time. Was dancing in the silent disco until midnight on Friday and Saturday night! Camping wasn't too bad an air bed is great support got a bump!

Currently waiting for my 32 week scan.

cheekbyjowl · 03/06/2013 19:12

on phone so sorry for what I've forgotten. also the guys next to me on the tube have been at ther waccy backy...so will blame them for lack of clarity! thank you for the good lucks on the house Grin

who is the new mummy?

badmiss maybe you can line up some potential new suitors for your mil? so you can relinquish your wingman duties.

ohgood I haven't looked into it too closely I'm afraid. ive had to google what a cervix is so have decided to leave most of the medical decisions up to midwives/drs advice as I'm truly clueless. i think that if they think a ecv is possible then I'll give it a shot to reduce the need for a cs.

Abzs · 03/06/2013 19:52

Feeling huge in the sun here, too. But measured me and I appear to be 35, which I am. Think the remaining 5 weeks' growth will have to be outwards or sideways, as the space between my pelvis and ribs is feeling full. Maybe I could encourage it to head for the ever expanding backside; there's plenty of room there.

I have a scan tomorrow to check that Small is heading downwards enough. Definitely head down, but still quite diagonal, though the somersaulting phase is over now. Handstands are the new thing from the feel of it Confused

Gingerpanther27 · 03/06/2013 20:29

Congrats to palao and the two ronnettes :-) update.to say no blood.clot and baby has got
comfy again but still having contractions and still in hospital

dinkystinky · 03/06/2013 20:37

Hurrah for no blood clot Ginger but sorry you're still stuck in hospital. Hope you're managing to get some sleep.

Glad you had a good time at the festival Sashabella and hope that Thursday goes smoothly and you all get to remember your granddad and say goodbye as you would like to.

Badmissm - your mil would drive me mad too!

IcingTheCake · 03/06/2013 20:55

Yay no blood clot ginger !!

TotallyEggFlipped · 03/06/2013 21:02

Great news about the blood clot (or absence of!) & that you're doing ok, Ginger

npk - when I was induced with DD all they did was rupture my membranes & I started contracting shortly afterwards. No drugs required at all.

Sasha - glad you enjoyed the festival. Will be thinking if you on Thursday.

DH & I have hidden a load of boxes in the spare room & pretending they don't exist. Loving our new house. We have a tiny decking area out the back & it's a total sun trap - we ate all our meals out there today Smile

Back to work tomorrow. Only 3 weeks left. Just hope I don't join the early baby club - I really need some time off before the baby gets here to sort things out. (like a hospital bag!)

dinkystinky · 03/06/2013 21:17

Glad you're loving your new house Totally - fab having a spare room to hide boxes in! Ds1 and ds2 loved making forts with our packing boxes when we moved.

Ellie has asked the fb lot to update the thread as she can't mn from hospital. Her waters went on Saturday and as the baby was head and one foot down she had a c sec today - baby born weighing over 7 lbs. He is in NNU due to the cleft lip and palate and on cpap to help with breathing. Ellie and her boys have managed to have cuddles with him today though.

dinkystinky · 04/06/2013 09:15

Latest delightful pregnancy symptom seems to be an urge to do nocturnal pools - lovely! Between that, ds2 and his bad dream, dh and his tossing and turning, ds1 wetting the bed and the obligatory we trips not much sleep was had in the dinky household last night.
