Oh no Vinegar - DH has come down with a D&V bug and his initial symptoms sounded like yours and DH's so really hope you manage to fend it off. Hope you all feel better soon.

Sunday - we spent a couple of hours last night sorting out crap in our bedroom in readiness for the baby. Rather glad we did as DH has been fit for not much today - 2 hours of looking after the boys (who played/watched tv so he didnt have to actually do anything other than lie vaguely in the same room as them with a sunday paper I got him and some water) while I was at pregnancy yoga totally wiped him out, bless him. Totally - sounds like you had a super productive day. I LOVE getting rid of old paperwork! A sort through our files ( 10 at last count - aargh!) is top of my list when I start mat leave - what a thrilling time I'm going to have Hmm Sounds like you've been nesting with a vengeance NPK - and am in awe at you painting your toe nails.

Slouching - your breakfast sounds fab. I'm a huge fan of dippy eggs (cooked in cold water until boiling then left in the water for another 3 minutes so all creamy) and asparagus too! Not so much a fan of the hollandaise though. Hope last week at work flies by. I finish work on Friday too!

Hope you had a lovely day at the museum with friends Persuasion. Cheese - you're definitely at the stage in pregnancy when you can ask for a seat - I just make my way to the nearest priority seat and ask if I could please have a seat pointing at the sign - and on the odd occasion that doesnt work, Bean helps out by whacking the nearest seated passengers paper at random intervals through the bump.. Glad you enjoyed the hen do but 3 hours travelling sounds exhausting! I think it depends where in London you are, and which Londoners you encounter, as to whether or not people are friendly or not re pregnancy (or life in general).

dinkystinky · 09/06/2013 19:18

ps rather glad we've washed most of our baby stuff as we appear to have a baby bird in our garden (fallen out of a nest in next doors gutter) hiding behind our planters so have declared our garden a no go zone for all of us so the parents can keep visiting to feed the bird - rather hope it gets big enough to fly out soon as the neighbourhood cats prowl the wall along the back of our garden on a regular basis...

photographerlady · 09/06/2013 19:39

totally we rent too and I picked up some wall stickers, they peel off pretty easily and created a sea theme border with then in the babes room.

waitingforwombat · 09/06/2013 20:23

hello all!

I've been lurking around for months but never quite got round to posting. Just been to weekend of nct classes and finally starting to feel a bit more real so thought I'd finally bite bullet and post!

Can't believe the babies are already arriving and how organised some of you are! I was really pleased to have finally finished painting nursery this weekend but no carpet fitting slots available til 38 Weeks so baby will have to stay put till then ( also when i'm finishing work!) as we clearly can't sort furniture until carpet is in...

Hope everyone has had a relaxing sunny evening and topped up their vitamin d levels!

Waiting for wombat (due July 21 so 34 Weeks today)

VinegarDrinker · 09/06/2013 20:36

Welcome wombat! I wouldn't worry about nursery not being ready - advice is to have them in with you for 6 months anyway.

DS's room was a junk room til he was over 1! (We didn't even buy a cot til he was 3m) It Still isn't particularly 'nursery' like and tbh by the time we do get round to decorating it specifically he will be well out of the cutesy baby stage! I know some people love doing all that stuff but baby really doesn't notice!

Thanks for the sympathy. All members of our household are now tucked up in he'd, fx for a decentish night's sleep.

MrsRoss26 · 09/06/2013 20:37

Hello wombat Smile fingers crossed for either early carpet-fitting or a patient baby! We don't seem to be setting a good example so far...

dinky I hope babybird stays safe!

Those of you who have sorted a car seat already, can I ask what you've gone for? We'd like a 0+1 but with isofix, and they seem few and far between Sad

VinegarDrinker · 09/06/2013 20:42

We have the MaxiCosi Cabriofix from DS, no Isofix though (we don't have a car so needs to be able to swap between Mum/MiL's)

dinkystinky · 09/06/2013 20:52

We have the maxi cosi cabrio fix too - just got an isofix base for it (didn't use one for ds1 or ds2 - just used seatbelt) as will make life easier with 3 in the back. I figure I'll sell the isofix base and car seat on when no longer needed and most group 1+ car seats are isofix now too.

Runswithsquirrels · 09/06/2013 21:20

Another one for the Maxi Cosi Cabrio Fix here. We also got the isofix base to make life easier and hopefully safer. It also fits into our pushchair with adapters.

dinkystinky · 10/06/2013 07:10

I see MN are running a web chat with someone I went to school with tonight - not entirely sure how I feel about it. He was a dick as a teenager!

Grannyapple · 10/06/2013 08:40

Ha ha dinky-you went to school with Richard bacon? I can imagine that he may been a bit of a pain at school Smile.

Grannyapple · 10/06/2013 08:45

Oh we've got a maxi cosi pebble with isofix base (car seat also fits on our pram)..bought it thinking we would use it for next seat up but ended up getting a maxi cosi axiss after N was 1 as it rotates so that car seat is facing you for putting them in car seat (made life a bit easier). But I like the base too as that also made life easier...just release a button & lift car seat out...jobs a good un!

TotallyEggFlipped · 10/06/2013 08:57

We have the maxi cosi cabrio fix too! Found the isofix base made it much easier to put the car seat in & out of the car. It also fit onto our buggy, but we didn't use it on the buggy that much.

IcingTheCake · 10/06/2013 09:14

I really need to practice putting the carseat in the car, ours is a second hand one that we know the history of, my uncle used it for my cousin but only took it out a couple of times because someone bought them a better one Grin i dont think ours is an isofix base - i know it sounds stupid but how can you tell? Does it just have isofix written on it? Blush Cant tell im new to this!! Haha

Seeing the midwife today after a rubbish nights sleep - including waking up at 3am and remembering that i had an appointment today at all, so that should be real fun Grin feel bad for her, tired and hormonal pregnant woman. I've got a sudden fear of being induced, and i know its unlikely to come to that even if i go overdue a bit, but i suddenly decided i can't go through with an induction after reading so much about them Confused anybody else had this?

34+2

BB01 · 10/06/2013 09:51

Icing, hope you get more sleep tonight! I really wanted to avoid an induction but consultant wants to induce on due date at latest. We're tempted to try to get them to back down and just get monitored every day instead but we may end up just going with it. I felt much better after I read a thread on Mumsnet about positive induction stories (sorry if I already told you this - forget who is who on Facebook!!) and it made me feel a bit better. Sounds like induced labour can be very positive or sometimes not so great just like non induced labour.

dinkystinky · 10/06/2013 10:07

yup Grannyapple. He was expelled for sneaking out and joyriding a parents car, bet he didnt declare that on his BP application Grin

Icing - I think all mothers to be as they reach the end of their pregnancy are hit with the fear of giving birth/being induced. Its normal and natural. You dont have to be induced if there arent pressing medical reasons and I do know some people (including Totally on here) who had good quick inductions so please dont let THE FEAR put a dampner on your day. As BB01 says, each birth is different - some are great, some are not so smooth - but its the fact you are holding your little baby in your arms at the end of it all that you need to focus on.

MarieKL · 10/06/2013 10:12

Vingear glad your ear is better, but sorry to hear you and DH are poorly. Dinky I hope your DH feels better soon. Abez was it you with the ongoing ear ringing? Sorry can't scroll and can't remember but whoever it was. I hope it gets better soon.

Great to hear everyone is making progress on preparations. I am too but very, very slowly. I'm a bit sad DC2 isn't getting as much attention as well. Their bedroom will remain our spare bedroom until they move out of our room and the only new things they have are a few clothes others have brought, but I figure they won't know the difference and will be loved just as much when they arrive.

Icing I hope you get a better nights sleep tonight. Can't remember who was asking but I'm having strange dreams too though not necessarily about baby!

Have my sister and her DS staying with us at the moment which is great but trying to convince my DS to go to preschool this morning was not the easiest task!

IcingTheCake · 10/06/2013 11:41

Yeah I think I might try to put off induction, im not opposed to a sweep or having my waters broken just if they use an chemical or injection or whatever should probably know what it is i dont want Grin midwife wasnt so bad, was so overheated in the waiting room so very tired by the time i saw her, she basically said re the induction that if it comes to it theyll do it?! I was a bit like er not without my say so thanks Confusedbut apart from that, measuring just above 50th centile so all good on that front and shes still head down, head resting on my pelvis so in a good position to engage when ready - hopefully soonish as i cant even keep water down at nighttime so really would like some room back Grin

Got offered a free Moses basket from a friend, we'll obviously need a new mattress but we were thinking of giving it to inlaws with new mattress and bedding so baby can nap there? We live with my parents at the moment so they don't need it and we already have the cot set up so im not taking it down now Grin just thought it might help them feel more 'involved' they have a spare room so plenty of room for it, but would it be a bit pushy? I wouldn't want them to think we were being a bit presumptuous as to them looking after her?!

Sorry really long post, just needed to babble on to be honest Grin

Hoping everyone else is okay! Only next month Shock

shelley72 · 10/06/2013 12:11

Just catching up whilst I have time. Sorry to hear so many of you have been poorly, it's awful when both you and your dh are ill and you still have the children to look after. hope everyone is enjoying their maternity leave so far.

We also have the maxi cosi with the isofix and it has been really good so far, though we have yet to try it in the car with the other two seats. That's a job for the weekend - sorting out the seating arrangements. As well as having our last child free meal for a while.

Can't remember who mentioned it, but I think it's normal to worry about not having everything in place for dc2, and also to worry about the impact on your first dc. Honestly you will be amazed at how your standards slip one the second comes along Grin.

I have just finished packing my hospital bag, though I've not packed my dressing gown, presents for the children or any snacks yet and already the bag is full Shock I think i may have to re pack though I'm not sure what I can leave out.

Counting down the days til my next scan, though I don't think the baby has moved at all. I think I may ask to leave me as long as possible just in case it does decide to turn (probably unlikely).I also really wanted a July baby!

MrsRoss26 · 10/06/2013 12:50

Thanks shelley, icing, totally, granny, runs, dinky and vinegar! You're all stars Grin This doesn't make life much easier however! Am going to have to actually visit some shops and test some seats out in-store. Blinkin' thing is confusing us both.

Icing I too had a rubbish nights' sleep, having woken just before 2 with a horrendous tension headache. Was rather worriedly checking for puffiness etc. in case of pre-eclampsia, but it settled at around 3am so I could get back to sleep. I hope you get a more settled night tonight, being tired at this stage is not helpful! Great news on baby's position too.

Marie - how are you even entertaining still? I can only just put up with tea at the in-laws at the moment, and am flat-out refusing to see a bunch of people who would require actual social skills now.

Shelley well done on packing! I would've thought you could get away with a mini coolbag for snacks?

dinkystinky · 10/06/2013 13:06

MrsRoss - all infant car seats are much of a muchness. I'd say get a group 0 one and change up to a 1+ one in a years time - your baby may be a travel chunderer (like DS1 was) so we were delighted to bin his car seat and get a new vom free one when he outgrew it. Does your polo have Isofix in it? If so, if you get the isofix base then its a case of just clicking your baby in the car seat on and releasing a button to release them - much easier than faffing around with seat belts. But Isofix maxi cosis work in cars with just seat belts too.

Shelley - sounds like you're mostly sorted. Am leaving presents at home. Could you put them (and dressing gown) in a bag somewhere for DH to bring in if you end up needing to stay in with baby?

TotallyEggFlipped · 10/06/2013 13:37

Icing & MrsRoss I'm joining you in the crap sleep last night club - woke at 2 and just couldn't get comfy. Finally managed a bit of a doze on & off for an hour at 5:15 before DD woke up. Very grumpy today as a result.

Icing, as dinky says, I had a pretty positive induction. People love to share their horror stories - its more dramatic & interesting, but it's perfectly possible to have a simple induction. Lots of women are induced and don't need/want a happydural or end up needing assisted delivery or caesarean. Look for the positive induction thread BB recommended.

Had a growth scan this morning because bump measures a bit small & DD had IUGR. All ok & this baby appears to be normal sized, so hopefully that means no need to wash the early/tiny baby stuff Grin

MrsRoss26 · 10/06/2013 14:00

Thanks for the advice dinky. Will take it on board Smile

Thinkingof4 · 10/06/2013 14:05

icing I've been induced twice and had quick straightforward births each time so don't fret if that's being talked about, it can be fine!

vinegar hope you and dh are feeling better today, at least your ear is fixed!

Re carseats we have the maxi cosi cabriofix too, with easyfix base- totally recommend getting the base as it makes life much easier!

Re nursery decoration- ours has never been decorated, it has been used as a nursery for the last 6 plus years!! We just keep it all pretty neutral can't be bothered to change it

Re poor sleep I was up about 4 times in night to pee!! Grrr so annoying!

Anyone else stil suffering from clumsiness? I managed to drop my iPad at weekend and completely shattered the screen Sad not sure if it will be covered by insurance, and I only got it at Christmas Sad
It actually still works, just have to be careful not to get any shards of glass stuck in my fingers!!!

Lovely sunny day again, just waiting for my parents to arrive (said they would be here at 1pm...) not feeling massively enthusiastic about their visit...

Enjoy the sunshine everyone

shelley72 · 10/06/2013 14:11

I am almost sorted I think and dinky i think I will be in hospital 24 hours or so (all being well) if I end up having an elcs so was planning on taking some nice food and things to drink.

we still have names to agree on, what do you do when you just dislike everything each other suggests?! We are aiming to have a short list and then see what the baby looks like when it arrives (and of course once we know the sex).

Also has anyone thought about if they would like music when they give birth? And what are you choosing?
