Thanks MummyKanny -am loking forward to it. Its the start of a weekend of "culture" as we're taking DS1 and DS2 to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Saturday afternoon too Grin You'll find those 3 weeks start to fly by.

Persuasion · 07/06/2013 18:31

dinky your weekend sounds great, I'm feeling quite jealous!

I wasn't planning on using TENS bit as well as all the stories on here I've heard several people recommend them recently so I'll have to think about it again.

I've been having rlt now for a few weeks. My braxton hicks are definitely getting stronger and more frequent but I don't know if that would have happened anyway. Still, it doesn't do any harm and anything is worth a go as far as I'm concerned!

It was my last day at work today. I'm having mixed feelings as I won't be going back. Right now (on the train) I'm mostly just relieved I won't have to commute into London anymore, I actually thought I was going into labour in the tube station yesterday Blush

Hello all. I'm still at work for three weeks and two days unless I pop sooner. Things that are happening there at the moment and the plans for the future there make me glad I'm not going to be there for a while. MummyKanny people keep acting surprised I'm still there too. Honestly, I'd get so bored at home!

Thanks to Dinky and Abzs for the reassurance about the HV. Abzs I'm the same with my phone, though even worse, I keep putting it on silent and then forgetting where I've left it!

mummykanny really pleased the placenta has moved, and baby sounds like a good weight. I hope you and Icingthecake get a better nights sleep tonight.

Yay for completing your deal Dinky. Good luck to all those with three or more weeks to go. Persuasion it must seem very strange knowing you're not going back. I don't know if I'm going back or not as on a fixed term contract which has only been extended to cover my maternity leave but they may restructure in the next year in which case there may be a role for me. I'm hoping once baby comes I'll be so busy I won't have time to think about it!

Photographerlady I'm in awe of everything you've managed to do. I'm about two thirds through all the washing but that's it!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

VinegarDrinker · 07/06/2013 22:22

Right, we now have a bedside cot. No hospital bag still, or stuff from the attic, but that's quite enough for one lazy day! Oh, I did also get a load of newborn/0-3 "girl" clothes plus a bouncer and a bundle of newborn TotsBots/prefolds all for free at the monthly "Swap Shop" at DS's nursery.

Still can't hear out of my left ear and have permanent tinnitus. Have an appointment for syringing a week today and I am literally counting the days. It's driving me potty.

Re HVs, I didn't meet mine til after giving birth last time. Then hardly had anything to do with them tbh.

VinegarDrinker · 07/06/2013 22:23

PS dinky hope the weather is holding in town, I love the Open Air Theatre, haven't been in years though.

dinkystinky · 07/06/2013 23:52

Weather was fine thanks Vinegar and play was standing-ovation excellent - would really recommend it to any one! Well done on the cot and clothes - sounds like loads achieved today. Sorry blocked ear and tinnitus driving you mad - just think of the relief when you get your ear syringed out! They have a kids show - dinosaur zoo - on over the summer at the open air theatre and babes in arms are allowed in too so tempted to take my boys to it.

Persuasion - hurrah to start of mat leave and a new phase in your life (and no more London commutes)!

Abzs · 08/06/2013 10:34

Vinegar I hope the ear syringing works for you. Tinnitus is very wearing. I've had pulsatile tinnitus since the winter. You get used to it after a while...

Consultant reckons it's my Eustachian tubes that are congested, but as antihistamines didn't work I've been stuck with it. My voice sounds like it's about to go and I'm a bit more cloth eared than normal. An uncommon but not unusual side effect of pregnancy she said.

I am currently relaxing in a hunting lodge up a glen in perthshire, while dh and some friends run up and down big silly hills. Just waiting for the sun to come back out again.

notprincesskate · 08/06/2013 17:17

Not sure what happened to my post yesterday, it was only to say yay I managed to paint my toe nails, although I have no idea what they look like close up, but it does mean I can continue to wear my flip flops! Seriously had to pay with it, with some serious heartburn tho.
Hope everyone is getting to enjoy some sun this weekend, I think I've gone a little mad OH is out or the day, and I've decided that the spare room, which will be a bit of a combo room until the baby needs a cot, just has to be decorated or at least made to look a bit more 'baby' otherwise it doesn't seem fair as DD had a whole nursery........anyway pretty sure that DH will go a fair bit mad when he gets in, and I am we'll aware it is totally NOT necessary but even so I don't seem to be able stop that thought process, I suspect by the end of the week it WILL have been decorated- not thinking much just a coat of paint and some stickers on a feature wall, but still, is anyone else on dc2 or more feeling a bit sad that they don't seem to quite get the same treatment as dc1?

Enjoying reading the preparations everybody has been up to. Today's job for us was playing round with the carseat base and adaptors. All seems easy enough luckily! Well done on the deal Dinky. Great news!

VinegarDrinker · 08/06/2013 20:04

That was another job I did in labour last time BB Blush

The big news here is that I managed to self syringe the gunk out of my ear - hooray! (& sorry for TMI)

dinkystinky · 08/06/2013 22:20

Notprincesskate - ds1 was in our spare room, without any nursery decorations, for 18 months. Infact it was only when we did up the house 2 years ago that we got round type decorating the boys rooms with decals - so baby being in with us then the spare room is following a tried and tested pattern!

Hurrah for the self syringing Vinegar - must feel sooooo good to get rid of the tinnitus!

CitizenOscar · 08/06/2013 23:12

Notprincesskate - I don't feel sad that DS2 isn't having the same treatment in terms of having a room prepared cos that's not the kind of thing he'll even be aware of. But I do feel a bit sad that he won't get quite the same individual attention that DS1 (as 1st grandchild on either side) has got. Also worry a bit as DS1 is so lovely - if DS2 has a trickier personality, he might get compared unfavourably. Hopefully he'll be delightful too Wink

Hope everyone has been relaxing and/or ticking off tasks from their lists today.

I've been feeling baby very low in my pelvis, making it uncomfortable to walk, but otherwise he seems quite snug & settled in there. Not expecting an appearance any time soon!

dinkystinky · 09/06/2013 06:16

CitizenOscar - I was worried about that too when ds2 came along (esp as ds1 was born just before fil died and his being there helped mil and sil pull through those sad times) but a it turns out I needn't have worried. The boys are v different personalities but both totally adored by both sides of the family, mostly for their quirks and differences! I bet it will be the same in your family as dc2's personality comes out.

Cheeseandbread · 09/06/2013 08:12

Morning ladies,

Congratulations to the new arrivals and I'm loving the names. Ellie I hope you get your little man home soon.

Dinky well done on the deal!

Things have been a bit manic over the past week with work- lots to do before I go... Only one week left now...

I went into London yesterday for a hen party which was fun (picnic in Hyde park then chocolate making). I didn't stay for the meal and clubbing as it takes me 3hrs to get home- and being heavily pregnant I didn't fancy it.

It was funny being back in London- I used to live and work there. On the train journey up I got chatting to different groups of people, being pregnant seems to draw people in to speak to you... It was lovely. But once in London you are invisible! I forgot about that... I wasn't looked at once on the tube or offered a seat. I feel for those of you still commuting on the tube- at least in my car I can move the seat back, even if it is slightly uncomfortable.

More school work for me today...

Anyone else having strange dreams about baby at the moment?

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

Vinegar I'm glad your ear is better- well done for the DIY approach!

Persuasion · 09/06/2013 08:55

notprincesskate this is my first so I can't really comment on dc2, but our 'nursery'is totally neutral because we're planning on moving in the not too distant future and didn't want to have to decorate again, plus baby is going to be in our room to begin with anyway. We did give it a coast of neutral paint but it desperately needed that anyway!

Glad you're ear is better with some diy vinegar!

Cheese it sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. I'm off to London today with DH to meet friends for a final pre baby catch up and maybe a potter around a museum if I feel up to it. I don't mind that though, a weekend is totally different to the weekday commute, and it'll be fun one I'm there! I'm definitely taking my notes though just in case, several people at church yesterday were convinced I'd have had the baby by next week Shock I know it's unlikely but it's still made me feel a little twitchy!

Cheeseandbread · 09/06/2013 09:06

Persuasion you are further on than me but even I feel strange... When people ask when baby is due it is no longer months away but "next month!" Eeeeeek! I hope you have fun looking round the museums- haven't done that in ages- lots of fun!

Liking hearing about everyone's preparations- we still need a car seat but the pram is assembled in the living room. The cat decided to use it as a bed the other day...

SlouchingPanda · 09/06/2013 09:47

Hurrah for ear-fixing and general organisation! I will be making a list of all the things I need to get done, but the actual doing will have to wait until I finish work on FRIDAY! Grin Thankfully as you lot are so organised I just have to look at what you've all done already to remind me what I need to achieve!

Just had the most delicious illicit pregnant lady manna breakfast of poached eggs, asparagus and hollandaise on toast. I'm expecting a visit from the MW any time now, so was desperately trying to wolf it down before she arrives. Hope I haven't got runny egg on my chin!

Otherwise all boring good here. I'm wearing a black and white stripy jumper today so bear more than a passing resemblance to a heavily pregnant zebra!

35+3 and did I mention I finish work on Friday!!?

Abzs · 09/06/2013 10:28

Vinegar - yay for unblocked ears! wanna come do mine

Cheese - CatB is the same. Looked most upset when I turf ed her out of the pram and then the car seat. As if to wonder how it possibly can't be for her, when it's the perfect shape and size...

Had to retreat to bed last night as being thumped down the way while having bh was more than could take.

36+0 and getting a kick in the ribs for complaining.

TotallyEggFlipped · 09/06/2013 14:09

Yay for unblocked ears, vinegar!

We rent so have never decorated a nursery or bedroom for DD and I sometimes wish we had our own place so we could stencil the walls or something to make her room a bit more fun.

We've spent the morning trying to make a bit of progress with clearing the crap from our move. Managed to sort through masses of papers that have moved house with us 5 times in the last 3 years & chuck most of it out. Feels great.

I also managed to find a bag to use as a hospital bag. It now contains a packet of maternity pads. Progress! Next job is to make a list of everything else to go in it.

MrsRoss26 · 09/06/2013 16:41

slouching your breakfast sounds amazing Grin I had to content myself with dh-prepared pancakes (oh the horror) Wink

I am still shamefully behind you all in prep for the baby, but did pick up a tin of paint for the nursery and a changing mat today. More than a little pleased with how cute the mat is Grin

Sorry for not name-checking more, fb is mostly keeping me up to date and my memory is appalling. Has anyone started an arrivals thread yet?

I've definitely entered the gull-on hormone stage now; the worst night's sleep last night has made me alternately grumpy and weepy. Feeling huge now too. Mustn't whinge, but can't stop! Help! 33+4

VinegarDrinker · 09/06/2013 16:51

Thanks, everyone. Being able to hear is awesome, and the reduction in pain and pressure is just fab! (Obviously I couldn't recommend it as medical advice, though!)

Unfortunately DH and I both woke up feeling really poorly - queasy, achy and feverish. I initially put it downto general pg related nastiness but obviously if DH has it too, it can't be! So we've been spending today taking turns to nap and lie on the sofa whinging, poor DS has been a star and CBeebies has been a godsend.

It has reminded me how spoilt we are normally as we have 3 grandparents and my sister all locally, who would normally take him off our hands if we're ill, unfortunately this is the one weekend they are all out of London!

Anyway sorry to continue whinging! Hope you are all feeling better than I am :-)

36+5 - nearly 'term'!!

SundaySunshine · 09/06/2013 18:48

Sorry to hear you're poorly vinegar if it's not one thing it's another!

SundaySunshine · 09/06/2013 18:53

Ah stupid phone!
I'm feeling huge too, because I really am!! Had productive day today though, rejigged bedroom to make room for cot , made said cot ( with 'help ' from very enthusiastic DD), and got car seat down from loft. Feel exhausted now and getting major BH for my efforts. Glad I did it now though as don't think I would be able to in the near future.
