Very early days but I'm due 26 January - really expecting early February after being 15 days late with DC1. Thought I'd get the ball rolling Grin

Anyone else?

popocatepetl easier said than done but try not worry. I was in exactly the same position as you a couple of weeks ago...second scan showed the beans strong heartbeat! The fact that you aren't in any pain is really positive. Fx for you that everything's fine x

feekerry · 22/06/2013 18:54

Thank you ladies. I bailed saying dd and dh weren't feeling great so i would miss the meal but would let them know if icould make it later. Can't imagine sitting in a hot busy restaurant.....!

Bearfrills · 22/06/2013 20:12

I don't blame you, it won't be pleasant when you're feeling rough - bleurgh!

The DCs have got a birthday party tomorrow for DN's birthday and I'm almost dreading it. It's with DH's family and there's a bit of a chequered history there. At his party last year MIL told me in a hushed voice, "don't worry, I've warned everyone what DS is like". That's my DS who was 2yo at the time and wasn't "like" anything except a typical 2yo. Then last time we all got together BIL made snide remarks about "quick, here comes DS, hide the toys!" Hmm I'm hormonal and may not be able to bite my tongue if it starts tomorrow!

Plus MIL is a notorious big mouth and I don't want everyone knowing I'm pregnant, family is fine but her neighbour's cousin's aunt is not - it's a small village and news travels fast. I remember DNs 1st birthday, shortly after we lost our second baby at 15wks and she'd only gone and bloody told everyone! I spent an excruciating half hour trying to extract myself from a conversation with MILs best friend where she begged me over and over to please just open up and acknowledge my loss and that she'd promised MIL she'd achieve this breakthrough with me and blah blah blah. I don't even have the comfort of wine this time.

My bedtime sickness is all day sickness now, as of today where I've felt ropey since just after breakfast. I'm about to have medicinal bread. I'm seriously craving crusty white bread, the bakery kind, and DH has been sent to the shop on a mission to fetch me a demi-baguette and Lurpak. I will be 76478 stone by February Blush :o

When is best time to book gps appointment??

Thingymajigs · 22/06/2013 20:21

So will I. I've spent over a year being very healthy by counting calories, buying organic, making sure I had the right balance of micro nutrients each day. Now I'm only interested in food if its full fat, full carbs and suitable to feed a small army. DP is currently on his way to buy some cookie dough ice-cream just for me. Blush I'm partially blaming this on comfort eating before the scan on Monday and the other half is curbing nausea, honest...

laura0007 · 22/06/2013 20:33

I haven't had any cravings yet. I'm feeling left out Sad

Sprite21 · 22/06/2013 20:39

Lyndsey I booked my GP appointment as soon as I got the bfp. Then she schedules your scan and tells you how/where to get your 'booking in' appointment with the midwife. Then you wait.
At least that's what happened last time. Is this what you meant?
Thingymajigs I am also consuming vast quantities of carbs. DH got home Friday night to find I had finished all the Indian

takeaway as soon as I got in the door.

Sprite21 · 22/06/2013 20:39

lyndsey90 · 22/06/2013 20:45

Yep hun that is what I meant thanks :) I was 6 weeks yesterday, didn't want to go in too early!!

feekerry · 22/06/2013 20:46

Lol sprite

lyndsey90 · 22/06/2013 20:50

Laura I have no cravings either! Kinda glad cause I'm gonna try doing a first trimester diet cause I wanna rid of some fat lol. I've looked early pregnant for like 9 month lol! Am not overweight, just uncomfortable!

pettyprudence · 22/06/2013 22:48

laura I havent got any cravings either! with ds I didnt get any cravings til 32 weeks and then it was for bleach Shock I wanted to sit in it, sniff it , drink it (held back from that one!) just be surrounded by it all the time Blush my house and office had never been so clean Grin it didnt last past delivery though....

Thingymajigs · 22/06/2013 22:55

I wouldn't call mine cravings either. I'm just struggling to find uncarby foods appealing as my stomach is unsettled. With ds2 I had a craving for ice during the last trimester. I needed it as if it was another food group. Hmm

Bearfrills · 22/06/2013 23:10

Just like Thingy says, it's not a craving for bread as such, it more that bread is the only thing that doesn't turn my stomach so my head is telling me to eat lots of it. A MW once told me that early cravings are linked to morning sickness and you crave the things that won't make you sick, she advocated eating whatever that food was - think it was all anecdotal rather than scientific though :o

I practically lived on ice in late pregnancy too. I wonder why that is? Ice cubes, Calypo lollies, frozen apple slices and frozen grapes. Everything had to be frozen.

I'm eating a lot of ice pops right now. Towards the end last time I craved plain ice. Apparently that is a sign of low iron, turned out true in my case!

Room for a latecomer? Got my bfp yesterday, baby due 28th Feb apparently. Already have dd age 2 and beginning to wonder what I'm letting myself in for. Feeling happy though as we've been trying for 9 months.

Congratulations to everyone.

jazzcat28 · 23/06/2013 08:17

Argh just checking in after an extremely awkward night out with DHs family. Lots of questioning about why I only had half s small glass of wine. Lots of baby talk. Lots of sly winks from DH (who was drinking). I just wanted to teleport myself to the other side of the world.

We are trying to hold off until 12wk scan mainly due to lots of friends having lost babies about now. Might not make it that long!

Looking forward to my first GP appt tomorrow morning. Hoping they will confirm rough dates.

rueyrichardson · 23/06/2013 08:31

Congrats Lowra.

I'm finding that the sickness is coming in waves and is directly linked to tiredness. I swing from needing fried potatoes to feeling completely normal. Chips with a crisps chaser, mmm.

Novascotia33 · 23/06/2013 09:54

I saw Nigel Slater make this omelette where half way through he folds in loads of ready salted kettle chips - I've been thinking about that quite a lot Smile

I've not had any proper cravings but I've completely gone off chocolate!!!! I think my body has gone into shock.

Congratulations Lowra. Don't worry 1 - 2 is hard, but nothing is as a big a life change as 0-1. Once you've got 1 you've already got no life, so it's just more of the same really, hahaha.

tiegysmum · 23/06/2013 10:38

Does anyone have any sickness and nausea remedies that work, I'm 8 weeks today and generally just feel crap :-(l.. I already have two girls and musta got away lightly the last two times, can't remember feeling like this at all but then they are 13 & 6 now lol xx

Ladybee · 23/06/2013 10:55

I think eating small but often helps - I seem to go for things that crunch, apple / carrot / peanut butter on toast / salty crackers / crisps etc. fizzy water with a splash of lime juice is good too. Other than that, last time when i was much much worse I used the sea bands - they're elastic bands that you wear on your wrists, they have an acupressure point that helps with nausea (travel sickness but helps with pregnancy sickness too). M&s also used to do ginger & dark choc biscuits. If they still do, they're v medicinal.
