mildred37 · 17/05/2013 13:13

Exciting Shelli! Hope this is the start of things for you.

Yes to the bruising Joanna! The top of my bump always feels like that by the end of the day; as that's where I get most of the movement from his feet.

Fingers crossed for baby news. It's our 1st wedding anniversary tomorrow so it would be amazing if ours made an appearance :)

preggersbycheggers · 17/05/2013 14:50

Nothing here so I have started to paint the kitchen!!

ButteryJam · 17/05/2013 15:29

Joanna, yes, the area beneath my belly button is bruised and stretched. I suspect baby's body has moved down ...

joanna1990marie · 17/05/2013 18:10

39+4 I was induced last time 42 weeks, think I am dreading going another 2 and abit weeks again.

Oh well 'keep calm and carry on' has to be my motto from now on

mildred37 · 19/05/2013 11:20

I'm officially 40 weeks today! The amount of times over the last few weeks I've thought I was in early labour is ridiculous. However this morning I've been having waves of back pain, nothing too serious more like an ache as if I've been standing up too long. Will see if it amounts to anything but I doubt it. Booked for a sweep Tuesday morning so will see what happens!

Shelli, hope you aren't waiting too much longer...I'm not suffering as much as you are but I am still fed up so can't imagine how you're feeling. Fingers crossed for you.

How's everyone else doing?

joanna1990marie · 19/05/2013 20:02

Well I've had a serious day of nesting! Also I think..stress...think....I lost my pluggy thing today. Also had REALLY bad poops....sorry.....but no pains though :-( will really get my hopes up if I start cramping x

Joanna and mildred, you both sound like you are making some progress, all the best! :)

Mildred, how did you book yourself in for a sweep? I am not seeing my midwife until 40+6 due to it being bank holiday, and I think she said that if I made it that far, then we would be talking induction (or maybe she said sweep? I don't remember as I was so sure baby would arrive before that!)

joanna1990marie · 19/05/2013 21:20

Im sure all my "signs" will turn into nothing, as per. Im 38+3 tomorrow so still a long way off due date of 31st. I can only hope though. What is a sweep by the way?

Hi all, so my pains turned into labour and I had my DS on 17th may at 16:16pm Grin didn't go to plan but he is here safe and sound! He us my first, was 12 days early and weighed 7lb 13oz! So hopefully everyone else's niggles will progress too. Good luck!

ButteryJam · 19/05/2013 23:01

many many congrats newlywed :)

joanna1990marie · 19/05/2013 23:51

Congratulations, so happy for you. How was the birth? Was it as painful as you imagined? This is my first so very curious! X

OP posts:
NewlywedUpTheDuff · 20/05/2013 01:25

It was the same type of pain as I imagined but much more intense as the contractions went on. Pushing was weird though because your body does it for you. I always thought that women made the conscious decision to push and did it but it's quite strange when your body takes over. Glad it's all over though!

mildred37 · 20/05/2013 08:13

Aww congratulations!!!! What have you called him?

When I saw my midwife at 38weeks she booked it as part of my next routine appointment. She's coming to my house to do it and have no idea what to expect! (She turned up a week early last Tuesday; tried to convince her to do it then but she wouldn't lol!) just need to make sure our bedroom is presentable lol!

Going to have a nice chilled out day today, just going to potter around, get the house straightened out and make sure everything is 100% ready for this baby. Think in going to set up the Moses basket in our bedroom too - nothing like being prepared!!

mildred37 · 20/05/2013 08:15

Jo, a sweep is an internal examination to try and stimulate the hormones required for labour. The midwife inserts a finger to see how dilated (if at all) you are, and then literally "sweeps" her finger over the baby's head to encourage things to get started. Not the most pleasant experience I've been told, but I'm actually looking forward to mine tomorrow lol!

shelli135 · 20/05/2013 08:53

Congratulations newlywed SmileThanks

How does it feel to not be pregnant ? iv forgotten lol

Can't wait to be able to do normal stuff without everything being a massive effort!

NewlywedUpTheDuff · 20/05/2013 09:13

We called him Iestyn Grin we are welsh Smile

He's gorgeous, can't take my eyes off him!

It feels so nice not being pregnant! Being able to bend over, put socks on and not be kicked to death is great Smile and to finally have the baby in my arms. But I'm Very sore as I had to have an emergency forceps delivery and episiotomy as his heart rate kept dropping too low Hmm but he's all safe and sound now and I can't believe we made him. I'm sure your DC will be along shortly Wink
