Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsBri · 27/05/2013 09:33

Sunny, if you can't discuss pant snot on here then where can you?! :-)

I hope your baby does turn for you. Though they do turn even in labour, so never give up hope (and they can turn TO back to back as well!).

My bump has dropped even without baby engaging, it would seem. I hadn't noticed, but it was pointed out to me at the weekend.

Currently trying to persuade Baby B that feet in mummy's ribs is bad! But it seems he's determined to make sure his legs are stretched out in full :-/ At least he will avoid what happened to me, which was being born with blue feet and ankles due to being squished!

learnermummy · 27/05/2013 09:37

Hawkmoth my last one was just under 2 hrs so I'm really panicking! But midwife said third babies can be tricky.

Sunny my first was back to back and didn't turn even to deliver but I didn't need forceps or anything so it can be done. Apparently upright positions are best- like sitting in toilet or birthing stool. I had epidural so those were out for me.

pinkapples · 27/05/2013 09:40

Well I'm still in bed Blush was up all night practically with sickness a weird form of diarrhoea and indigestion Sad

Now awake and lying on my left to see if I can get baby to move have the midwife tomorrow so will see how many movements I can tally today all this panicking GOD!

MrsBri · 27/05/2013 10:17

Pink, if you're concerned about movement, DO NOT leave it til tomorrow.

And it's about variation from baby's normal pattern, not just counting movements. Counting movements is the old guidelines, now updated to say it is variation you look for.

Please call triage today if you're concerned.

Oh, and diarrhoea can be a sign of impending labour :-)

ginauk84 · 27/05/2013 10:21

I am going to hospital in a maxi dress and coming home in it too. Thought would be comfiest. I know some people have said what if waters go all over dress but I've got a maternity bed mat to use in car and can use that in my dress if that makes sense.

Baby's coming home outfit is a little dress and leggings, booties with a cardi and hat (if needed) from Toys R Us Starry Nights Winnie the Pooh.

I put a Tesco bed mat on two nights ago and can't stand it!! It's under the mattress protector but a) I can't move on it as it makes the bed clothes stick to it and b) it makes me sweat like crazy!!!!! So just have to hope waters don't go in bed as its a very expensive mattress!

Had a lazy bank holiday lying in the sun and went to a wedding Saturday where another pregnant lady was wearing exactly the same dress as me - from Asos, she had sent about 10 back like I did lol!!

redwellybluewelly · 27/05/2013 10:43

If worried about movements get onto triage (ours is called medicom bit not everyone has it so ring delivery suite) and they really really won't think you are wasting their time.

Engaged baby feels so different to 3/5 engaged, had forgotten just how much, I can't sit down now, sunny are you 38 or 39 weeks? Yesterday my boobs were resting on baby bump, today I have inches between bump and boobs!

hawkmoth you have major sympathies on the BH, mine have ramped up too, first labour 3hours, DH is like a cat on a hot tin roof! Never got them first time.

Steffanoid · 27/05/2013 10:47

I've got huge granny pants from asda at the moment, sagging and not fitting at all.
im going to be coming home in whatever we grab on the way out, only got 2 or 3 things that fit so it'll be whichever is closest/cleanest.
baby is coming home in sleepsuit, it's a colourful giraffe one :-)

congrats on coming home cycle!

im feeling a lot less sick.than last night now, very glad about this, was not in the mood to get a sickness bug. im getting plenty of messages asking if he's here yet and willing him to hurry up, I've got my fingers crossed!

MrsBri · 27/05/2013 10:54

Steff, is it the giraffe one from Sainsburys with the matching hat? If so my friend gave us that one at the weekend. It's going to be baby's first outfit :-)

Glad you're feeling a bit better now too.

forgetmenots · 27/05/2013 10:57

Congratulations cycle :)

Gina I'm the same, have bought some jersey maxis from primark and I'm wearing a black one home, so comfy.

Pink definitely call triage, no point messing about at this stage!!

I still don't think baby is engaged :( - actually was wondering whether they had turned back to back again as I'm getting lots more kid and wriggles in my ribs... Hope not!

pinkapples · 27/05/2013 11:04

Just off to the hospital now as she's an IVF baby we don't want to chance it so I phoned and there having me in for 30 minute monitoring so a bit happier now ill be able to see she's alright x

MrsBri · 27/05/2013 11:10

That's good, pink.

Hope all is well. Xx

Steffanoid · 27/05/2013 11:11

yes Mrs bri it is, my aunt bought it us, I love it!

pink good luck, sure everything will be perfect

rrreow · 27/05/2013 11:14

I had the most amazing night sleep. BH seem to have stayed away and I only had to get up for 2 wees! DSiLs are looking after DS2 later so DH and I can go for a spot of shopping and dinner (omg it's like a DATE!).

I put the bed mat (Tena one) under the fabric mattress protector and although I can hear it when I get into bed, it doesn't feel any different once I'm actually lying down. It does look a bit flimsy/thin though.

I'm not sure if baby is engaged yet.. every time I had an appointment since 28w he's been head down but I'm still feeling lots of movements at the bottom of my bump (presumably his hands?). His movements seem to have become a bit more intense the past few days and wow when he sticks a foot out sideways my belly gets SO ITCHY.

I think this one is bigger than DS1 as I have got new stretchmarks to add to the old Sad (I don't really mind though in all honesty - I hate the marks on my hips from when I was a teenager much more than I do the ones on my belly, at least these are for a good cause!). I think it might be time to switch out the tiny/small baby clothes in my just-in-case-hospital bag for regular newborn ones.

Also a bit worried about speed of labour. My last labour was 3 hours from having my waters broken (nothing much happened before that). So I'm not sure if that means I have fast labours or if it was because they broke my waters. In any case the midwives want me to call right away when I start experiencing the 'real thing', so they can assess and come out as soon as necessary.

Hope everyone is enjoying their bank holiday weekend! Lovely weather here.

Hawkmoth · 27/05/2013 11:22

Here's some TMI for you. Just had a BM for the first time in a couple of days, unpleasant in itself... But it must have been taking up room that the baby wanted as it immediately braced its big feet against my ribs and squirmed down as far as it could without dropping down the toilet itself. I could feel it wriggling its shoulders. It actually made me feel a bit sick it was so violent.

Good luck with the monitoring pinkapples x

My children have gone off camping until Friday with my parents. I'm taking the opportunity to do some more crochet watching cricket on telly while DH is at work. Can't help but feel I should have a few beers in the back garden though! Maybe next bank holiday...

SunnyL · 27/05/2013 12:18

I'm 38+5 at the mo so baby becoming engaged isn't a great surprise. Now you mention it I do have more space between my boobs and belly. Even still I just went for a 1hr stomp round the woods with my mum and the dogs - definately not waddling so maybe baby has just dropped a bit. Baby's in my family don't tend to arrive til at least 41 weeks so not expecting anything imminently.

Oh and Hawk on that TMI - I generally can't contemplate a meal at all these days without making a bit of room first!

ginauk84 · 27/05/2013 12:45

I am 35 + 4 and baby was 3/5 at 35wk apt, my bump didn't look any different so am assuming it will drop when she's fully engaged?

Her movement does seem less though now, don't really feel much low down, just kicks up my rib cage!

I also haven't had any BH which makes me wonder whether I will be really overdue as a girl was 32 weeks at antenatal and having a lot of BH, MW said she would probably be early. Has anyone who has had babies not had BH at all?

redwellybluewelly · 27/05/2013 13:07

hawkmoth YES thats exactly what baby did at 4am this morning, proper shove downwards. Has to be said walking ia now more challenging ans it feels like I have a swollen pushing forwards pubic bone IYSWIM. Consultant and growth scan tomorrow at 9am. Then pre op on Friday.

I had no BH in my first pg, my SIL didn't have them in her third or first but badly in her second. I went over by 17days last time and baby was fully engaged for 4weeks!

MW said she'd put money on this one arriving early but then they also said DD wouldn't keep me waiting as I was slightly dilated and engaged. Just comes back to how every pregnancy is different!

Meant to be going to a picnic party this afternoon and tbh not sure I can face it.

redwellybluewelly · 27/05/2013 13:08

Just sqw your update pink, hope all is well x

Steffanoid · 27/05/2013 13:54

im jumping at every niggle and weird pain/feeling hoping it's tge start of things like the period pains that are radiating through to my back and really hurting my back, the throwing up last night both of which the birth class lady said were signs of things starting, then he goes quiet and off the radar again. I wish he would stop teasing me!

rrreow · 27/05/2013 14:08

After being back pain free all throughout this pregnancy (had horrible back pain with DS1) all of a sudden my back is hurting a lot! I'm now worried baby has turned back to back. Although it is more likely to be excessive crocheting while sitting on the couch.

What does the back pain from labour feel like? I doubt this is it though as this pain is quite far up (kind of middle of my back). Back pain I usually get from period pains is very low down just above buttocks.

rrreow · 27/05/2013 14:30

Although I might also be losing my mucous plug? TMI alert, earlier and just now I had a little bit of yellow discharge. Kind of snotty or like scrambled eggs (told you it was TMI Grin). Does that sound like the mucous plug?

forgetmenots · 27/05/2013 14:47

Hope all is well pink x

I'm 37+4 and for the first time have taken to bed with aching pelvis and back :( baby wriggling about as ever but not sure if this just means he/she is finally attempting to engage... Fingers crossed!

pinkapples · 27/05/2013 14:50

Glad to report baby is all good midwife monitored me for 30inutes hooked up was very weird but glad everything's ok. She said lack of movement could be that the sun was out yesterday and she was having a lazy day or my sickness last night or that my placenta is anterior and I can't feel central movement as the machine said baby was moving yet I couldn't feel it hehe

She also said I was having irregular contractions I thought they were BH she said take a paracetamol if they are uncomfortable and if they don't go away its the real deal but they weren't uncomfortable so well see

Would love an early baby can't wait to meet her Grin

MrsBri · 27/05/2013 14:56

I'm afraid I can't help, rrreow. I hope it is something if you feel ready for it. And that it isn't if you don't!

Forget, Baby B is an expert in fanjo diving. Doesn't bother engaging though! It was really painful on Saturday, but it doesn't seem to be achieving anything.

Little buggers these acrobats!

forgetmenots · 27/05/2013 14:56

Good news, pinkapples, pleased to hear it :)
