I was told that orgasms serve the same function as Raspbery Leaf Tea, and are a lot more fun!

So, I have one meeting today at 2 in town, then I'm officially on Mat Leave. I'm celebrating by volunteering at a launch event for a massive local arts festival then going to see a very cool comedian/storyteller at the theatre. I think I'm going to like being off!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 10:45

You have my sympathy kitty, cramps or just not comfortable enough to sleep? Sad
We could take it in turns, that way at least 1 of us will get 1 good night sleep a week.

Ow ow ow, I just walked into the wash basket. Have a lovely bruise already coming up on my shin, and seem to have hit my elbow (on what I don't know) in the same place as when I fell down the stairs, and now my elbow and wrist hurt.
And all I was trying to do was arrange mum and baby toiletries in various useful locations around the house.

Now that sounds like a good way to celebrate mat leave lib

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 11:25

I have m/w in a bit. What's the chances, if I beg her and whinge enough she'll give me a sweep?
nah, I didn't think she would either, but always worth a try

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 12:45

M/w checked my dates and laughed when I asked for a sweep. Hmm Darn it. Guess I'll have to wait a few more weeks then.

Eek. I have to go to day assessment later. Bp 120/96. Confused I get to be hooked up for 40mins to be monitored.

Jojobump1986 · 14/05/2013 13:07

Maybe they'll suggest induction to be on the safe side! Wink Hope all is ok though! Let us know how it goes!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 13:09

Guess it'll all depends on whether my bp goes down.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 13:17

Trying not to think about it. Which isn't working.

Say if i was in the early stages of a slow labour, would that send my bp up? Trying to figure out what would send it up (other than preE)

It went up a few weeks back not this high and went back down again, but I was seriously anxious and stressed at the time. Which I'm not now. So slightly puzzled by it.

I did have a migrane aura without the headache 9 days ago, and my feet swell up in the evenings, but both of those are pretty normal for me or late pregnancy.

Lorelei353 · 14/05/2013 13:29

Hope your bp is okay Frus, although a cheeky early induction would be good!

I had mw this morning too. All good with me. Baby's now 3/5 engaged so head looks like it's going to stay snuggly down (thanks baby). Going over birth 'plan' with mw too. Very weird. I mentioned that I didn't want Pethidine and she laughed and asked was that because of what the NCT told me (it is). Confused.

Rolled into work at about 11.45 for last day! So far have been given two bunches of flowers and an enormous cake of a stork with a baby. A friend in work's sister makes cupcakes and cakes as a business so did it for me - and totally nut-free too (I have a potentially fatal allergy).

Jojobump1986 · 14/05/2013 13:31

Even if it is pre-E they'll have caught it really early & be able to monitor you. It's probably normal for your blood pressure to rise towards the end as the pregnancy is putting extra strain on your body. Getting frustrated about incorrect appointment times won't be helping either! Wink Try not to stress too much! Did they check your urine? They got iffy about finding a tiny amount of protein in mine last time despite my bp being low! I'm sure it'll all be fine! Maybe pop your hospital bag in the car, just incase though!

bringonthetrumpets · 14/05/2013 13:43

RRL tea is considered a uterine tonic and is supposed to strengthen and tone the uterus, making labor shorter and more efficient. Plus it's FULL of micronutrients, minerals and vitamins that are great for pregnancy.

Frus have you had enough water today? Sometimes dehydration can cause a higher BP reading. You're right, sometimes labor does cause BP to go up too, but it's more often in the later stages. Drink a LOT of water before you head back in to get it checked. Eating cucumbers and watermelon are also good for lowering BP. You can always ask to wait to get your BP checked until the end of the appointment as well as walking around can cause it to go up, especially if you're nervous about getting your BP checked Wink.

Good news on the engaged babe, Lor! And very cute cake!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 13:46

Unfortunately lor this little one has popped back up to 2/5, but m/w says totally normal for subsequent pregnancies. But he seems to pop in and out on a daily basis.

Wee came back normal. after missing the pot and weeing over my hand on 3 separate occasions this morning Blush

Lorelei353 · 14/05/2013 13:49

Isn't morning cake cravings what blueberry muffins were invented for trumpets?

Frus I feel your pain. Peeing in those tiny pots is quite a skill

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 13:51

M/w took it at start and again at end of app. And from what I gather I'll be hooked up for about 40mins at dau, for them to get an average reading.

I don't know if I've had enough water bring I don't think I've drank any different today.

Ps, cake at 7.45 in the morning is definitely recommended. Wink

bringonthetrumpets · 14/05/2013 14:11

Well, I'm heading off to the shops to finish the shopping that I abandoned yesterday when my two kids went psycho so wah-hey! I'll go get a chocolate muffin Grin Nice suggestion Lor!

kittykatsforever · 14/05/2013 15:14

I wouldn't worry frus, I've had protein in wee twice and it's been fine, I think it'd be a cumulative of all signs plus more common if you've had it before aswell? Hope it goes ok though and don't panic or it will be high Wink
Oh and isn't 2/5th engaged more then 3/5ths? I thought it was the lower the number the more you are?
Gutted she laughed at your suggestion of a sweep frus was half tempted to do the same tomorrow lol
I didn't sleep for no reason just tossing and turning again till 2 Hmm
Sounds like a great last day lor, is that us all official on mat leave now then?
So far today been for 30 length swim and walking around Trafford centre, bump feeling very tight lol

Lorelei353 · 14/05/2013 15:59

According to my notes 2/5 is more engaged than 3/5 alright. Mine is slowly progressing down (it was 4/5 at last appt.). Slow is fine for me at this point though. At 36+2 and for a first baby, I can wait a little longer.

The cake is chocolate sponge inside. SO good.

Jojobump1986 · 14/05/2013 16:20

It depends on whether they're talking about how engaged the head is or how much is palpable. At my last appt he was 3/5 palp, so 2/5 engaged. The more of the head that is palpable, the less engaged he is. I think they phrase it differently in different areas, just to confuse us!

Lorelei353 · 14/05/2013 16:29

Ah, that makes sense. I've been looking at the printed notes in my green file and according to that measurement 3/5 is less engaged than 2/5 so I'm assuming that's the way my midwife is recording it. I guess for me it's in the middle anyway!

bringonthetrumpets · 14/05/2013 16:37

We don't regularly use those measurements in the States so I could be completely backwards, but I thought it was how many finger-breadths the head could be felt above the pubic bone? So the lower the fraction, the more engaged the baby is (due to more of the head being in the pelvis)? So, yeah, Jo I think we're thinking of the same thing. The good news for Lor is that the head isn't "floating" (ie 5/5) meaning there is plenty of room in your pelvis for a tiny little baby head! yay! :)

This kiddo is completely out of my pelvis and off to one side in the morning when I wake up, and then I can barely feel her head b/c it's so far down by the time I go to bed at night, so she's just all over the place. Midwives tonight, so we'll see what they say!

Oh, I got a chocolate brownie. It was DELISH.

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 17:28

Mmm chocolate brownie. I'm off to find food.

This little one is definitely more out than engaged.

Well I'm off the machine, bp is okay, do appear to be contracting though. Which had to be pointed out to me, and i still questioned it as i didnt think they werent really hurting enough, she said "they will" So fx it won't be much longer anyway. just have to hang around now for blood test results, since the m/w noticed me scratching. If it's not one thing it's another with me

Jojobump1986 · 14/05/2013 17:37

Good grief, we're not allowed to scratch now?! Glad your bp is looking good & the painless contractions sound promising! Fx things start moving along now!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 17:48

Well I don't have preE. But I do have the scratchy thing. Waiting for the doctor. Looks like I may well get an induction.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 17:49

Ps, no jojo we're not allowed to scratch.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 14/05/2013 18:04

obstetric cholestasis. Hmm would also explain the knackeredness.

Jojobump1986 · 14/05/2013 18:12

Eep! I knew excessive itching could be a sign of it but I know nothing beyond that! Is it really serious enough for them to induce? Something to do with the liver not working properly, isn't it?
