Welcome aboard ladies! You will see the newly installed infant car seats complete with cup holders for the mums waters wine. Make yourselves comfortable, it's going to be a long and sometimes bumpy journey with little ones making their arrivals!

Yes to fennel tea! Catnip tea also helps. I would start out with giving the same amount that you would gripe water and seeing how she does with it. Tummy sleeping also helps (but I know the whole back-to-sleep deal). As long as she's in a firm cot without blankets or pillows around her, if you're comfortable with tummy sleep, then go for it!

Lol Jojo it's easily done!! Just how fast are your boobs making milk Shock you'll be supplying pints by the end of the day!! It's so good how easily they work isn't it without having to even try to express!
Bring I have bought a sleep mat monitor so it sences if they stop breathing lying on their front so I may give it a go, when you say firm cot do you mean matress? I'm not sure how firm this one is, it's much softer then the ones in Moses baskets etc should I put her on the thinner harder one? We use a sleeping bag and there's no pillows or blankets around

bringonthetrumpets · 15/06/2013 17:57

Just a surface where she could pick up her head and turn it from side to side without her nose potentially being blocked. I'm sure whatever you have her in is just fine.

AShamed of myself. Googling "ways to induce labor". I'm a freaking student midwife, I know all this stuff (I've been trying most of this stuff)! I'm like in a downward, crazy, over-due woman, spiral. I think I might have to step away from mumsnet for a while. It's feeling really depressing being the last one (I know that someone has to be last...but I so NEVER thought it'd be me).

Trumpets....DON'T go into labour. It REALLY hurts.

Am all of 3 cm dilated. Have to go back at 9pm for antibios, will be on ward but might still get pool. Don't even care so long as it hurts less.

bringonthetrumpets · 15/06/2013 18:55

Water helps tremendously Lib. Just remember that you get the breaks in between the ctx and to relax through them as tension creates more pain. Think of the most intense yoga position you've been in and how breathing helps, a contraction will very rarely last beyond 9 deep in-and-out breaths.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 15/06/2013 19:32

Rooting for you lib think of the snuggly baby at the end of it all. And if you need more pain relief don't feel guilty for having it.

Lorelei353 · 15/06/2013 19:41

We're with you Lib. I found the water really helpful. Didn't really move off a bouncy ball until the water as I found it really good too. Lots of breathing. It'll be worth it

kittykatsforever · 15/06/2013 19:52

Good luck lib your doing great and like frus said just do whatever's right for you!
Bring hang in there, wed hate to loose you but understand it must be frustrating just think though it really can't be that much longer and although it seems like ages 2 weeks in the scheme of things is no time at all xx

Jojobump1986 · 16/06/2013 02:38

How's it going Lib? Any news?

Come on Bugle. It's time now. Don't keep your mama waiting any longer.

Lorelei353 · 16/06/2013 03:17

So I thought labour was hard but newborns are hard work.
ds was an amazing feeder at first but now I just cannot get him to latch on. It can be a 2 hour battle but now he hasn't fed since 5 pm except for one 5 min feed. If course is rookies had decided that we're not going to bottle feed in the early days because that's I what we were told so we've no bottles. I'm leaking everywhere too.

It's so frustrating. hospital advised me just to express directly into his mouth to get him going which it didn't but at least it got some food into him for now.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 16/06/2013 04:18

A a aaa leaky letdown boobs. Just woke for loo, put ds /-asleep in his cot. Come back and he's still asleep despite repeatedly trying o

... And then I fell asleep mid post. And had another hour sleep before ds woke up. Grin

lore don't panic. babies are like dogs, they sence it try to think back to when you had a good latch, what is different now? It could be something really simple like you're sitting differently. Going back to bed with him and having lots of skin to skin time.

Or has his feeding changed since your milk came in? He might not need to feed like he did to get your milk in, he might not be hungry every time. (Which is just trial and error and guesswork.

also do you burp him? Ds won't feed if he has trapped wind. When they have wind their legs curl up towards their body, and straighten once they've burped (or puked, or farted) their wind out.

Lorelei353 · 16/06/2013 05:30

He was really windy and distressed once milk came in. We tried infacol and the next feed was great and he was much better. We are burping him a lot. He seems to be struggling with how to get my milk since it came in. He just won't stay attached.

Lorelei353 · 16/06/2013 09:08

Oh my god success. Finally cracked it and he had an amazing feed from both breasts. Sleeping in the pram like an angel.

lib any news? Hope you're doing well. Thinking of you and breathing with you.

bring how are you feeling this morning?

Jojobump1986 · 16/06/2013 09:57

Yay! Well done for persevering Lor! It's so frustrating when you know they can do it but it's just not quite happening!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 16/06/2013 10:05

I have to say that 4am is a fab time for waking up and looking at me as though he's actually seeing me. Now what lazy activity can I do with dds today when it's raining and I'm knackered.

kittykatsforever · 16/06/2013 10:44

Well done lor, my dd1 had trouble when my milk came in and I had to express before she could, if they get to full it's like them trying to attach to a ballon, not easy!!
Have you a pump? If not the wonderful breast shells!
Hopefully now he's had a good feed it shouldn't be a problem

Lib hope your ok

Librarina · 16/06/2013 10:46

She's here! She's awesome! She REALLY hurt me coming out!!

Will update properly later but she has fed and is now snoozing next to me.

Have to stay in hospital tonight for anti-bios but all fine.

I love her, she really is the prettiest baby with no name that there ever was!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 16/06/2013 11:00

Oh lib well done and congratulations. Enjoy your newborn snuggles. Grin

kittykatsforever · 16/06/2013 11:10

Congrats lib that's amazing news
< disclaimer we all all think ours are the most gorgeous>
However can't wait to see a pic
Well done x

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 16/06/2013 12:38

She's beautiful lib don't you just love the wrinkly newborn hands, and the wrinkly ears that slowly unfold. Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 16/06/2013 13:19

Congrats Lib!

Morning bring your turn now. Sending you positive labour inducing thoughts

Lorelei353 · 16/06/2013 16:59

Congrats lib So glad she's here and sounds like everything went well for you. It really does hurt doesn't it? worth it though.

Librarina · 16/06/2013 20:16

So, little Nora is snuggled up on my chest so I can't reach anything but I'm trying to remember what we do to soothe stingy stitches and a ravaged fanjo?

Also, did I mention how pretty she is?

kittykatsforever · 16/06/2013 20:37

Paracetamol and wait for Jojo and bring to tell you their magic potions!
I just had 2 baths aday but I love baths
And your right, she is very pretty Smile
