Things are... Ouch! DS is off to my parents for 24 hours. I shall spend the entire time either in the bath or in bed! Hopefully by the time he comes home again I'll be capable of standing up without feeling like my hips are broken & I'll be able to walk without my back crunching!

I think I must've over-sold the whole seeing the grandparents thing... He didn't settle until about midnight last night! Normally he's asleep by 9. No idea what happened there! We tried changing his nappy, giving him milk, bringing him into bed with us... He just wanted to play! Hmm

Hope you manage to get a good sleep bring!

Librarina · 21/05/2013 08:36

Things are good here, thanks for asking bring. I'm 37.4 and baby is still well tucked in. Had lunch yesterday with my friend who is having twins in Friday. She's a week less pregnant than me and I'm slightly jealous that she knows exactly how and when her babies are going to arrive.

I had an MW come round yesterday who is an aromatherapist. She made me a custom blend to sniff for relaxation with bergamot and mandarin in it, and one for labour with clary sage and lavender. I'm supposed to sniff my custom one when listening to my hypnobirth cd, or otherwise relaxing and then when I go into hospital it'll. help me feel relaxed there. If nothing else it'll mask that hospital smell and give DH smething to do!

I never knew I was such a hippy!

bringonthetrumpets · 21/05/2013 14:14

Haha welcome to the hippy side Lib Grin Those are fab aromatherapy scents. I love the combination of clary sage and lavender together, so earthy!

Oh dear, that's quite the sending-off night Jo. Makes you even more excited to take luxurious baths and loads of well-deserved naps!

Baby girl has fully engaged her little head into my pelvis again and this time it's staying down there. I've fully developed the waddle....and two new stretch marks have popped up over night Shock.

Morning all

Lorelei353 · 22/05/2013 10:52

Morning. You were up early!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 22/05/2013 13:09

A combination of palming the dds off to before-school-club and attempting to drown the baby with milk. I have oversupply and it's just not funny. Added onto forceful let down, seems to follow the pattern of; ds squeaks equals half an oz leakage.
Well at least I'll have a nice stock in the freezer if I want to go out.

Jojobump1986 · 22/05/2013 13:35

Have you got a milk bank near you Frus? Might help avoid your freezer getting too full! Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 22/05/2013 14:23

Frus I totally understand what you mean! (I had oversupply too with the boys and the poor kids got seriously squirted in the face with milk and the couch and the table and across the room!) Some things you can try: you can either gently press on the nipple and breast when you do have the let-down to minimize how quickly it comes out and once it feels like it's subsided a bit-put baby back on, you can lean back to help go against gravity, let down some of the milk into a cloth, or just express the initial spurt and let baby back on once the forceful spray is finished {or a combination of all of the above!}. Hopefully it'll work itself out for you. I've had this all the way through our entire breastfeeding journey with the boys, but most moms find that once the first 2 weeks are over your body figures out how to not make so much, so quickly.

I just had a panicky can't-remember-when-I-last-felt-the-baby-move moment when I felt an odd twinge in my belly. I looked down at my bump only to realise that I was still resting my hand where I'd been playing chase-the-foot just minutes earlier! Blush Baby brain!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 22/05/2013 15:32

jojo Grin chase the foot is the best game, how could you forget? Grin

bring I had it all the way through with dd1. And under supply with dd2. Out of the 2 options I'll take over supply.
I cant donate. Sad The freezer can cope as I freeze in bags. fit more bags than bottles in, and quicker to defrost

kittykatsforever · 22/05/2013 18:23

Hi guys good to read everyone is doing well, engaging babies and time off for breaks, I've been missing due to being re admitted into hospital, baby fine it was with me and I won't go into detail purley because child birth is scarey enough without things like that and I had a really good birth just unfortunate problems after, anyway home now thank goodness and hoping for it to be smooth sailing now!
Milk just come in - woosh will be expressing these melons tonight even though dd2 is a really good feeder already so pleased that I've been able to and continue so far, who's next due on the bus then?

Jojobump1986 · 22/05/2013 18:58

kitty please don't feel like you can't talk about things! Childbirth is scary but it's more scary when things go wrong & you haven't been told it's a possibility! Hope you're recovering well now!

Re: the milk, I strongly recommend cabbage leaves if engorgement becomes a problem. I felt utterly ridiculous shoving leaves in my bra last time but it felt soooo good! Grin Definitely putting a cabbage on our first post-birth shopping list, just incase!

Jojobump1986 · 22/05/2013 19:02

I think, technically, I'm next! Eep!

kittykatsforever · 22/05/2013 20:17

Eeepp Jojo when was ds1 born, early? On time? Late?
I don't feel bad sharing if you guys want me to but the odds of what happened to me were like 1-100 and my other experience with it very positive so just don't want anyone in labour thinking oh no I can't do that as it happened to kitty us being 1-5 when odds are it wouldn't iyswim, I guess the thing is whatever we plan for, hope for, things just go the way they go and you just have to accept you may get the perfect birth or things may go a different way to what you hoped and its no reflection on you or your choice at that time, I guess I've been made to feel abit guiltypossibly just by myself that my choice brought on this problem therefore I was to blame for the problem

Jojobump1986 · 22/05/2013 20:45

You're being v cryptic kitty! I want to know now! Grin

DS1 was 8 days late by their dates, 5 days by mine. I'm hoping this one will be about a week early but expecting him to be roughly on time. We've just got to get through my work thingy on Saturday & after that I'll just be waiting! My absolute ideal would be for me to go into labour on Monday morning. DS1 will be at his grandparents' for the weekend but gets back on Sunday so he'd have 24 hours to settle back into normality. DS2 can be born during DS1's nap on Monday. I have decided. That's exactly what's going to happen. If I tell DS2 that enough, do you think he might listen? Wink

bringonthetrumpets · 22/05/2013 21:12

Yeah, now I'm all curious as well, Kitty! I could imagine a few postpartum complications that might come up.... was it something having to do with an epidural? Whatever the case may be, please don't blame yourself for things that come up. Even the most straight forward births have things happen that upon reflection you feel you could have done differently. Hindsight is always 20/20 (unfortunately). Hope you are healing and are feeling better!

I think technically I'm the last one due- June 10th. Was there anyone due after that?

OP posts:
Lorelei353 · 23/05/2013 09:56

I'm 9th June so just one day ahead of you! Eek.

kitty glad you're better now and home again.

I off to the hospital with my mum this afternoon for a tour of the birthing unit and labour ward. Looking forward to seeing it, although hope it doesn't scare me too much. I've been feeling pretty calm and as prepared as I can be up until now but a bit of fear is beginning to creep in from time to time.

bringonthetrumpets · 23/05/2013 13:06

Crazy contractions last night that had me wondering if they were the real deal (obviously, they're weren't) and TMI: lost the plug. Hopefully soon?

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 23/05/2013 13:29

Ooh fx she doesnt make you wait too long bring

lor calm is good. I hope your unit is like mine; very calm and welcoming.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 23/05/2013 13:33

kitty I'm intrigued, but I'm the otherside now and all finished with baby making so I don't think my vote should count.
I'm glad that you are home now and kitten is feeding well.

kittykatsforever · 23/05/2013 16:33

Bloody hell thought I'd written a massive post explaining and it's not there, Hmm it was loonnnnggg too!
Well this may be briefer, it was to do with the epidural being yes the anethatist went in too far or the wrong place to where they would inject for surgery and had to replace it on the other side which ment she put a hole in the derma ( think that's right) anyway she said at the time shed done it and I would probably get a bad headache that could last 3/4 days but as i didnt 24hrs later I thought I was ok, turns out I wasn't and it started Monday night, by the time I saw my mw tue afternoon she advised I got admitted ASAP and it was a good job I did as any longer I think I'd have needed an abulance ( no joke). It's not a headache as much as wanting to kill yourself the pain of your crushing brain is having but it goes when you lie down and only happens if you stand or sit so very weird, anyway they hoped it would fix with fluids and caffeine but it was worse 24hrs later so I had what they call a blood patch, not pleasent at all but within 3 hours I was a different person! It does go on its own eventually but the pain was just so bad and I'd had to rely on mw changing dd and putting her on my boobs as I couldn't move from Lying down I just couldn't take the chance it'd last a week or longer, it's very rare to need the patch though, aparently the doctor had only performed one other that yr and non before for like 10yrs, I'm just hopeful it remains ok now!
Bring sounds like you could be soon.... I'm hopeful

Jojobump1986 · 23/05/2013 18:09

Wow kitty, that sounds awful! Sad Absolutely not your fault though. That's like saying someone walking on a pavement is at fault when a car swerves & hits them because they chose to leave the house! Please don't go blaming yourself. Just enjoy feeling better & having lovely snuggly newborn cuddles! Envy

bringonthetrumpets · 23/05/2013 20:20

Ooooh bummer kitty! It was one of the things I was wondering about when you mentioned an after-the-fact complication. It is rare, but it's good for others to know about it because sometimes they do happen and it's best to be informed of all of the complications that come with interventions. I've never had an epidural, but I've heard the dural headaches are some of the worst that anyone could experience. I'm so glad you were able to head in and get the blood patch to get things back on track with you and the little lady. I agree with jo please don't blame yourself, these things happen sometimes unfortunately. Definitely not your fault! How is feeding going for you?

Saw the midwives today. Measuring 36 weeks at 37+4 weeks but she said the baby is feeling bigger and lower so she's not worried. Good position and they're thinking there could be a baby by the weekend (which is a bank holiday weekend!)! Hopeful! Lots of niggles today and some random contractions that are definitely lower and different than before. Dh has this super duper awesomely yummy restaurant all planned out for tomorrow night as like a last-date-before-baby deal and I can't decide if I just want to have a baby tonight or actually hold out until tomorrow and eat the best food EVER from this place. like I have a choice about going into labor tonight Hmm

OP posts:
Jojobump1986 · 23/05/2013 21:44

Shock bring, you wouldn't be thinking of queue jumping would you?! It's my turn next! Wink

All sounds v promising but don't get your hopes up just yet... You know what these babies are like! A friend of mine has been in early labour & 1cm dilated since Monday. They told her it was all about to happen so she called in the babysitter for her DS1 & nothing happened! Sooo frustrating for her! Hopefully by the end of the weekend you'll both have your babies. & I'll still be creaking round like the enormous crone-hippo I currently seem to be! Envy

kittykatsforever · 23/05/2013 22:13

Ha ha bring I was like that, do I want baby now or paint the utility?! Do I want her today or go out tomorrow... Like you say we don't get much choice though!
Must say I have heard people say they've been told baby's imminent alot and go over but all the signs are positive! Have you had a "furtle" yet?
Feeding going well I think, baby will be weighed tomorrow, I love breast feeding and have allready expressed 3 feeds ready for when we start one bottle a night for daddy to give, feel very smug lovely and just love my little girl, I'm glad the dramas havnt affected bonding etc and just made me love her more!!! Smile
