bringonthetrumpets · 23/05/2013 22:46

Haha you are right Jo. I don't have any hopes at this point, it just feels very imminent iykwim. It very well could be imminent meaning in 2 weeks...but I'm banking on that full moon we are expecting this weekend Wink

Still resisting the urge for a furtle kitty Tempting though with all the recent changes! It's such a weird place to be in. A baby for cuddles and breastfeeding (which I love such much too! I'm so looking forward to it! And putting on the cute fluffy cloth nappies that I have all stocked and ready) or try to appreciate these fleeting last days of pregnancy that I don't know if I'll be doing again. I'm totally going to miss the bump once it's gone!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 23/05/2013 23:21

I miss my bump. It's all squishy and flumpy. but am glad to have a snuggly baby to sniff instead of waddling.
bring I'd picked out the date ds was going to arrive. it would seem that I had no choice in the matter (and neither it seems did ds). The only trouble with the delicious food before hand is they you may get nauseous, and that would be a waste of going out for scrummy food.

Is it a full moon? Are there going to be any were-babies on the bus? I always wondered about whether there were more babies born on the full moon. dds were both new moon babies

kitty I thought ds was imminent, but he kept popping back out. apparently because of the extra fluid

jojo yours is going to sneak up on you when you least expect it. Grin

kittykatsforever · 23/05/2013 23:52

I don't miss the end of pregnancy I must admit, I did first time but think I'd started to get really uncomfortable etc
Maybe itl hit later when I don't have a new new baby to gaze at, breast feeding has suddenly lost its appeal at the minute when I only fed her 2 hrs ago Hmm the long sleep chunk overnight hasn't quite been grasped yet !
Boobs are huge yet unless its not kicked in yet are not leaking anywhere near as much as first time at this stage where I remember often looking down to find top saturated, is this more normal second time?

Jojobump1986 · 24/05/2013 00:00

Don't say that Frus! I've just had a few strong BHs & DH is still in Tesco! We've got to get through Saturday. He can come anytime after 5pm on Saturday! He's going to be a v obedient child & come when I tell him to! Grin

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 24/05/2013 09:02

Hmm mine didn't leak 2nd time kitty although this time I think I'm leaking for the bus a bit of cluster feeding will boost it, but it is nice not to leak.
I'm really sorry that your epi wasn't as straight forward as last time. But I am pleased that the midwifes were helping you to feed dd.

jojo he will be good as gold and contractions will start at 5.01 Saturday evening. Grin

bring and queue jumping news?

Jojobump1986 · 24/05/2013 10:44

Just saw the mw. He's gone from 3/5 palp to 4/5. Pretty sure he dropped straight down again after I left because I was in so much fanjo-shooting pain on my short walk home that a random bloke stopped me in the street to check if I was ok! Blush Shooting pains have stopped now I'm sitting down but I'm getting the occasional period-type pain. Must keep legs crossed for 30 hours & 20 mins! Wink

Mw doesn't want to see me again until I'm 41+3, unless I want a sweep at 40 weeks... DS1 was born at 41+1. I'm hoping I won't be keeping the appointment I just made!

Jojobump1986 · 24/05/2013 11:24

DS1 just lifted up my top, pointed to the top of my bump & clearly said "fundal"!!! I think we've got a budding obstetrician! Grin

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 24/05/2013 11:37

Oh that's a point jojo I need to cancel my 40wk appointment next week. Grin 30hours; right, keep sat down and have a bath. And no gardening, heavy lifting or pineapple.

Your ds sounds like he's started training already. Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 24/05/2013 14:42

No queue jumping news, but it does sound like Jo may be next with those signs! Sorry, but why on earth is your DH not home this close to your baby's due date? Your son could always be a male midwife instead of an obstetrician....Grin. I hope you won't be keeping the appointment either! That's a long stretch to not be seeing the midwife....Hmm

Got some acupuncture again last night to encourage things along, a massage, and reiki healing (it was blessingway night at this class called "Sacred Pregnancy" and there was lovely food and wise old healing women :) Twas very nice!). Today shall involve a very long walk around the Minnesota Zoo with two crazy children and then dinner with DH tonight (who called and there aren't any tables available, which means we'll have to eat in the bar section. I can only imagine what people are going to think when they see a full-term lady eating at a bar....). Fun day ahead.

Jojobump1986 · 24/05/2013 15:02

Sounds like a lovely day bring! Hopefully DC3 will hang on & let you enjoy it!

I'm ignoring these strong tightenings in my belly. They're just enthusiastic BHs, that's all. Nothing even vaguely interesting going on. Wish DH would hurry up & come home! He's stopping off to get a wiper blade fixed on his way home! Hmm

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 24/05/2013 15:08

That all sounds very relaxing bring there's nothing like that near where I live. Sad
I had midwife again today, and ds has done fab feeding and is over his birth weight. Grin damn phone I keep putting gein instead of grin

jojo I will presume that your surgery is like mine, and you have to take what you get offered (Midwifes don't deal with the bookings) or run the risk of not getting one.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 24/05/2013 16:26

I hope your DH is home now jojo

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 24/05/2013 17:24

Blush milk in the eye Blush

Jojobump1986 · 24/05/2013 17:43

Whose eye? Grin It's supposed to be good for conjunctivitis!

The midwives book their own appts but just don't see second-timers between the 38 & 41 week appts unless they want a sweep. Part of me is quite relieved because it was at my 40 week appt last time that they discovered protein in my urine & started making noises about induction. They'll be doing that anyway if I make it to 10 days over but at least I'll be prepared!

DH is finally home & I've just had a lovely bath. Feeling less BHish but v hungry all of a sudden! I may have forgotten to eat lunch! Interesting new development - my one new stretch mark of this pregnancy was an even, pinky-red colour but since all my BHs it's suddenly looking blotchy & purple like it's bruised! Weird! Confused

Librarina · 24/05/2013 18:15

Hello!

Sorry I've been so busy... Being on Mat Leave is much harder than being at work!

Well we now have... nappies, cots (built), toys (knitted), clothes (washed, ironed, put into drawers and frequently taken out again to sniff) and lots of Very Pretty Muslins.

We don't have... anywhere to bath the baby, anything to eat once the baby is born or a pram or carseat that we know how to use. I mean, we have the pram and carseat but they are in bits on the floor.

Am due June 7th and this baby is so obviously going to be late that this weekend I'm concentrating on my Ali-shower (tea and cake with my chums, no presents or games!)...it's all about me!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 24/05/2013 18:50

Mine Blush, (although is also being used for ds' gunky eye.) Totally agree it is the best thing for baby eyes.

Interesting change to the stretch mark, has your bump changed shape?

bringonthetrumpets · 24/05/2013 20:00

I also second Frus's suggestion on the bump change- sounds like things are shifting with loads of BH, a new purple stretch mark, and a hungry mama Wink. It would be awesome if we both went this weekend!

Lib exciting stuff! Getting everything ready. You definitely do not need a certain place to bath a baby. A kitchen sink does the job quite well not to mention they scream through baths anyway so they're generally pretty quick. Do you have any friends or family who would be willing to sign up to bring you over some meals in the first few weeks? THIS website is an awesome way to get the word out to people that meals would be helpful. We're using it and I'm excited to get it started!

So, the zoo was supposed to be a nice distraction and a way to walk the baby out but as I was walking out the door my dad called to say that my grandmother passed away this morning. She's been suffering from dementia for the last 4 years and we all knew this time would come and it would be a sweet release for her (and everyone really, as she didn't know who we were anymore and it was very painful to see her that way) but I never thought it would be so close to when this baby would arrive. It's sort of feeling like the circle of life, and even my dad mentioned that it will be a wonderful thing to have a new baby in the family after her passing, but it's still a really hard day to deal with. Just feeling really down today, tired and achy, and finding it really hard to have patience with the kids (including the one in utero because I'm so ready for her to come). Ugh.

kittykatsforever · 24/05/2013 21:21

Oh bring, much hugs forwarded to you, that sounds like a hard day and although outing like that are enjoyable it's still along time on your feet and looking after 2 children! I'm not surprised you feel wrung out, take a bath and maybe have abit if a cry, I find it helps sometimes
Jojo all these signs sound promising, any looser bowel movements or have I just overstepped the boundaries?
Frus I don't need/want them to leek and they feel massive!!! Dd barley makes a dint in them even after a feed that why I find it strange they havnt as they feel much fuller then last time
Preparing myself to go to sleep, scared to as almost know if I go now she will wake up within an hour and ill feel like death, why oh why do they sleep so well and long in the day and then become clingy and cryey and constantly hungry at night Hmm

bringonthetrumpets · 25/05/2013 03:15

Thanks kitty. Dh was able to get us a table after pulling the "my wife is due to give birth in 10 days, I forgot to reserve a table...." card and it worked! We got in, sat down straight away and had a fantabulous dinner. SO good. Now I'm trying to figure out if the two new stretch marks I've discovered since yesterday are from the baby or all the pasta I just ate..... Grin. Having an upsetting day is always an excuse to order a desert as well. Oh well, stretch marks are badges of motherhood honor, right?

Kitty, if they're feeling really engorged and you're feeling like they're still super full after a feed you can express them once till they're completely empty for comfort without throwing your milk supply off-balance. Anything more than 1 or 2 times will make your milk supply increase, but it's nice to have the relief if the feedings don't seem to be taking the super full feeling away while you're waiting for your body to adjust!

They love the milk at night because it's richer and full of the hormones that make them feel good Wink.

Bring. I'm sorry about your Grandmother, mine also has dementia and its such a rubbish illness. We were told 5 years ago that she wouldn't make it to my wedding (which at the time was in 6 weeks). Well she made it and is still with us, but she's not really with us IYKWIM, I think your Dad is very wise about the Circle of Liff (and a little bit Lion King which is good in my book)

As you can see I'm awake at 3am, baby decided that this was a good time for an almighty wriggle and now my bump itches. I have 30% battery left in my ipad and i left my book in the bedroom...looks like it might be a long night x

kittykatsforever · 25/05/2013 05:24

Oh I'm glad you got a table bring, I don't think anyone would begrudge a 9 month pregnant lady sitting at a table then be expected to perch at a bar and your right the pudding was a necessity!!!
I have expressed off about 2/3 oz each side they are still massive and hard but they are not sore atleast my mw didn't want me to express at all for like 4 weeks but I don't think a few oz can make that much difference, I'm not telling them to produce twice the amount
Lib are you still awake?! Hope you managed abit more, dd actually had a really good night, feeds at 7:30, 11 and now but without the crying and awake for hours bit and really that's the only bit I don't like Smile

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 25/05/2013 08:22

Morning all.
for kitty do you co-sleep or get up for feeds? Ds starts off in his carrycot. Then ends up in with me as I can't stay awake with the feeding hormones, so I just wake up enough to offer the other side and the occasional burp.

bring if you can't play the pregnancy card at months pregnant when can you play it? Grin

Librarina · 25/05/2013 09:07

Yay! I went back to sleep....and when I woke up there were 2 new little babies in the world! My friend had twins, one of each and they are dinky and perfect. Elective section at 37 weeks, I'm almost jealous, but only almost.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 25/05/2013 09:48

Yay to your friend lib one of each is lovely, l know someone who had one of each, although her babies are 18 now. Grin
It will be nice to have someone in RL with similar aged babies. I need to meet RL mums with babies. My midwife wants me to get back into breast feeding peer supporting at our local group.
And talking of breast feeding I think I have thrush. Typical for a bank holiday weekend. Will have to phone OOH because I know if I leave it til Tuesday it will be agony.

kittykatsforever · 25/05/2013 09:55

Ahhh baby twins! Don't be jeleous lib yours could come any day and from my friends who have had both natural births and c sections they've said they preferred the natural way, even after my complications it's only 5 days since birth and I'm in no pain or discomfort now and can drive walk around etc
Frus I get up to feed, I'm pretty strict with a sleep routine in that I never let them sleep on/with me at night and if they want anything feeding change pick up I do it and then put them down again, it's not for everyone and can be very hard if you are constantly picking up putting down when you know if you just let them sleep in your arms they will and be happy and not cry but dd slept 7-7 from 12wks even being breast fed and has continued this with a handful of wakes in 20 months so I really want to try and get this little one in the same practice, I am a much better mum with a night to myself lol
I actually don't find staying awake to hard either or bad the next day ( I never nap) the only but I can't bear is if they cry or don't sleep when you have fed changed etc
Do you find ds needs burping aswell? Everyone says you don't need to burp bf babies but both of mine do!
