I think it's when you hit 28 weeks you're in third trimester. I find the 27th / 28 weeks thing a bit confusing though!

BinarySolo · 30/04/2013 07:24

Hmmm, Tommy.org says 29 weeks. Glad it's not just me being thick and that there is actually conflicting advice!

jennimoo · 30/04/2013 07:40

I think the 1st / 2nd trimester is the same, in that there's several different interpretations of when you change. I like the maths/ symmetry of 12 and 28 weeks so will go with that. And you get there earlier ;)

JammyTummy · 30/04/2013 08:53

I'm with jennimoo on that!

Has anyone used bump bands? I feel like I need something to hold it all together and make me feel secure. I'm a size 16, so have bump and wobble. I've been feeling a bit uncomfortable the past few days and wondered if these might help? I was going to order from mothercare today, being a 16 do I need large?

andadietcoke · 30/04/2013 09:24

flipflump I have one but haven't used it since I bought some Massive Knickers from Tesco as they seem to hold everything in and are less hassle when going to the loo etc. I'd say a large, yes.

flipflump · 30/04/2013 11:06

Thanks dietcoke, I'll get large and give them a go. Some massive knickers wouldn't go a miss either, I'll get those too.

andadietcoke · 30/04/2013 11:43

flipflump mine are indeed mahoosive. £3 for 5 pairs at Tesco - they're great (if a little embarrassing - they'd sail ships) but they come half way up my bump and I'm much more comfortable as a result.

jemimahpuddleduck · 30/04/2013 11:44

Hi all

Been a bit quiet lately was away last week but kept up with all your news!

It's so exciting seeing who's having boys and girls, we had our scan a week and a bit ago and all was well, we didn't find out the sex although DH nearly persuaded me!

Off on relaxing holiday with my mum in couple of weeks and it can't come quick enough really looking forward to feeling the sun on my skin! I need the Vitamin D ... That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it Grin

fl0b0t · 30/04/2013 12:10

purplepoppyseed Oh you're not far from me either! I'm at Frimley Park. Will keep everything crossed.

Jemimah- take it easy- I got horribly burnt this week in the UK- my skin has become super sensitive to the sun since pregnancy!eek!

jemimahpuddleduck · 30/04/2013 12:15

Thanks for the heads up re sun burn Flo I will keep an eye on it. I'll be just as happy under a brolly if need be. Hope you have recovered now.

Well ladies I am officially fed up. 21 weeks and still no flutters or kicks. I'm putting it down to low-lying anterior placenta. Even more annoying is everyone keeps asking me if I've felt anything including the cleaner at work (on a daily basis no less!). I know the little monkey is fine from my scan but I'd really like to start bonding properly with her.

Also, anyone else experiencing neverending wees??! I seem to be going a lot but if I hang around a little longer on the toilet a second and sometimes third wee will come along!

Totally agree on the Jools Oliver book (thanks for the recommendation) I raced through it though as it was such an easy and enjoyable read. Really helped me to start thinking about motherhood rather than focusing on my pregnancy. Am now on the 'What to Buy for Your Baby' as really need to pull my finger out and get organised.

Just realised I appear to have had a bit of a rant!

PurplePoppySeed · 30/04/2013 13:00

Flipflump I'm wearing a bumpband from H&M today for the first time and it's brilliant. I've got under bump maternity work trousers that I'm always worrying will fall down, the bump band is holding them in place and making my tummy look better under my top + looks like another layer I'm wearing, without being too hot!

Fl0b0t I've got 2 friends who have just had their babies at Frimley park & one due in June Smile

JammyTummy · 30/04/2013 13:05

LCR I'm just reading the funny bit about Jamie trying to karate chop a photographer! Ha!

badguider · 30/04/2013 14:19

LCR I'm nearly 22 weeks and still not feeling anything. I have an anterior placenta (though not low). It doesn't actually bother me (hasn't since the scan), I know some people have found theirs quite distracting/uncomfortable so I'm happy the placenta is like a wee cushion. Also, my wee boy is pretty mellow in there and hasn't moved a lot during my scans so I figure he's just snoozing :)

kipsonline · 30/04/2013 14:48

Hello everyone! We're just back from my extra scan at 23 wks to check growth (due to me being on enough scary meds to fuel a whole army now)!!

Anyway, the good news is that the baby is growing fine despite all of that and v v active, pretty much everyone I know has felt a kick now??!

And we are expecting a 3rd boy. I had a v good inkling this was the case from a few dreams/ images etc in the past few weeks but it has still shaken me a little I think to have it confirmed in his full glory, so to speak. I genuinely love being a mum to my 2 adorable little men and am sure it will be just as lovely 3rd time around but a small part of me can't help being a little sad that I will always be completely outnumbered, and never get to do girly things together and never use my girls' name... I think I might need to have a little moment to get it out of my system then move on swiftly....

RunningBear78 · 30/04/2013 15:07

kips have your moment, it will make you feel better! i was convinced we were having a boy, and super excited about it, until the moment it was confirmed and i spent the rest of the day really down and terrified about it. I ended up in tears by bed time about the whole thing, but after a cry instantly felt better.

also, we had some really lovely girls names, one of which would have been dh's mum who passed away when he was little, so feel a bit sad not to be able to have a new Daphne in the world.

i'm planning on borrowing dietcoke's girls, she has two so surely one will be going spare now and then!? Wink

Creamtea1 · 30/04/2013 15:58

Kips/bear - perfectly natural to feel like that and you have your moment (or moments)
And don't forget all the stories about 'I was told it was a X and our popped a Y!'

weebarra · 30/04/2013 16:23

kips I know exactly what you mean! I adore my boys and am not sure I'd know what to do with a girl, but if I do end up with another boy I will be a bit sad for my daughter that I'll never have.
So, you have your moment!

andadietcoke · 30/04/2013 16:25

Runningbear yep, absolutely, as long as I can borrow babybear for stu occasional trips to the rugby club.

JammyTummy · 30/04/2013 17:32

A bit off topic, but does anybody know what a good birthday present for a 4 year old boy would be?! Nephew's birthday soon and I always feel stuck for presents for him!

weebarra · 30/04/2013 17:41

Last year DS1 would have liked anything to do with the Octonauts! Lego is also good.

Creamtea1 · 30/04/2013 18:22

Second the Lego vote, also anything batman related was good at that age for mine - he was really into dressing up then too - super hero costume? Good ones in bigger sainsburys, asda, Disney store

kimjayne · 30/04/2013 18:39

Jammytummy - Im with the other ladies on Lego. I have two nephews around that age and they love Lego. Especially the emergency services sets that include police cars and fire engines. :) hope that helps.

Had my maternity chat with HR at work today. It's the first time in years that anyone has taken mat leave at our company so it's like the blind leading the blind. Not sure that's a good thing. Anyway, it's all pretty standard from.the sound of things. Still shocks me that statuary mat pay isn't slightly higher. It's just lucky I havr some 'rainy day' savings to fall back on. I'm gonna have to.work my ass off in June and July in order to push my commission up as much as poss.

Dorita75 · 30/04/2013 20:52

Same here LCR I felt what I think was movement last Tuesday when I wore maternity pants that were actually a bit tight and I think the band was pushing the baby up a bit. I think I felt some 'bubbles' on Sunday but other than that, nothing. Am trying not to worry as I'm sure it's all okay. I'm 20.5 weeks..

I've got bump bands, given to me by SIL, wore one on Sunday, was great!
