Welcome back all June-ers, just realised we were about to run out of space on the old thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No sickness here, some nausea, but awful acid. Milkshakes are helping but not as refreshing as cold water or squash which makes it worse.

MrsBri · 07/05/2013 11:04

I've started having what I think is reflux...slightly throwing up in my mouth when I hiccup but not actually being sick. Now that is pretty grim!

I'm just wading through the housework and hoping a pair of leggings dries so I can mow the front lawn later, else my arse will be on view. Not good! Exciting stuff, eh?!

Hawkmoth · 07/05/2013 11:40

Good luck cycle.

Re swelling, my feet were horrendous yesterday. Lovely imprint of my sandal straps, every single imperfection in the leather.

Still miserable. Big cry last night, then got halfway to work today before breaking down. Just don't have the reserves to deal with it. Will discuss with MW tomorrow. Funny, because my SPD is better the last couple of days, baby not pushing down on the front of my pelvis anymore. But, it's almost like I wanted it to be awful so that the decision about work was out of my hands :(

Olimoss · 07/05/2013 12:09

Good luck cycle!

I'm loving the warm weather (as an Aussie, even after 12 years in the UK I long for the happy faces and better health the good weather brings....) but absolutely NOT loving the fact I have cankles for the first time in my life. Like, serious cankles. Am watching carefully to see whether my left cankle (things are being taken very seriously by the left cankle, think it's a bit of an over-achiever) actually engulfs my sandals today.

In the office, so the commute this morning was a slog, am sure it'll be more of a slog on the hotter trains this arvo. Must remember not to let midwife know! Am under instructions to keep quiet but I'll go crazy, literally, if I have to sit at home all day. Spent weekend on various visits, taking it easy apart from painting the new back fence.

No sickness or new pains, I have to keep reminding myself that although the CSection is booked for 29 May NewHuman may well arrive earlier.

Sarah - I think you should just pursue a change of hospital and if you need to change your mind again at any point, you can.

Steffanoid · 07/05/2013 12:24

just lost a big ol bit of my mucus plug when i went for pee #4568745 of the day lol
this is starting to get a little bit real now........

MrsBri · 07/05/2013 12:28

Bloody hell, Steff! How far along are you?

DontmindifIdo · 07/05/2013 12:31

Steff, that's all a bit real isn't it? If it helps, last time round a lost a load of it (but not all of it) at 34 weeks, then DS turned up at 38...

Good luck Cycle! How exciting.

I'm currently ignoring my to do list too. I've acquired a new buggy hook, some rather glam looking pants for hospital and a nursing bra - oh and more importantly, some snacks for the hospital bag. But I'm now knackered and going to put my feet up this afternoon.

Steffanoid · 07/05/2013 12:42

i'm 35 weeks today, the midwife laughed last week when i told her i thought i'd be early, i know my mp can regenerate and it even be weeks before going into labour but i think this little boy is going to make the midwife eat her words!
although i dont want him to arrive, despite the pgp, sickness, not being able to sleep or reach the floor, he's all mine at the moment i don't want him to leave then other people wil want me to share him

cyclecamper · 07/05/2013 12:59

I'm sitting in a room on the labour ward waiting to see the dr, so they can tell me what the plan is. I've been here 2 hours, as there was an emergency as I arrived. I have used the time productively talking to the baby feeding lady and learning to express colostrum. I was very proud to manage .8ml Grin. Another go later to see if I can get some more/start labour.

Sunbeam18 · 07/05/2013 13:51

Cycle, you are an inspiration - so calm! Good luck with the next step!

Sarah2506 · 07/05/2013 16:57

Just had UCH on the phone. As thought its just too late to change hospital cos of the ELCS. So I will just have to suck up the appalling situation at Barnet and know they will get to me eventually...

Olimoss · 07/05/2013 17:42

Sarah - gah, so annoying.

Very scarily, a lady at boyfriend's office with same due date as me had baby yesterday. I've kind of blithely been trotting along (albeit more like actual pigs trotters these days rather than coltish ankles) planning for 29 May, but guess could happen anytime. Cycle and Steff are also good examples of this.

Reality check.

At least dudes have FINALLY finished the decking out back (took nearly 3 weeks) so that's the last of the big jobs done. I just need to survive this and next week at work, then thassit.

And manage The Fear, of course.

Sarah2506 · 07/05/2013 17:46

oli I see absolutely no reason to connect the fact I am eight months pregnant with the crazy idea that I might have a baby in the next month or so. Why would you do that to yourself??!

You have put the fear of cankle into me. I have always thought my dainty ankles were my best feature. They had better stay that way:-)

AlohaMama · 07/05/2013 18:06

oli I'm more than happy to join you on the boat called denial. my ob seems to think this baby will come early but only because last one did.

sarah the cankle is not inevitable. i maintained my ankles thru last pregnancy, but then they did expand hideously in the days after birth. one morning i just looked down and they were swollen like balloons. still it only lasted a day or two. anyway soon you won't be able to see them so it won't matter!

OP posts:
Steffanoid · 07/05/2013 18:12

oil dont worry, haven't lost anymore of my plug since this morning, good job cause im still playing the denial game also, really dont want to share this little boy with anyone else

Olimoss · 07/05/2013 18:17

Excellent, denial it is!

Same on the ankle/cankle thing, I have always been pleased to have bony feet and ankles. I hardly recognise them now, although in reality they're probably not that bad, to me they seem like sides of ham.....

DontmindifIdo · 07/05/2013 18:19

i repacked the hospital bag again today - I've added new nursing bra and a dress lent by a friend that's maternity yet scandelously low cut, so should cope with breast feeding (if I'm able too).

Far more importantly, I've added some snacks, dried apricots, jaffa cakes, minstrels and some ribena cartons. I know I'm in for a ELCS but if I go early, I might end up labouring, and either way, I'll be wanting snacks when I'm in there for a few days... (as will DH) Might add a few frusli bars if he needs something a bit more substaintial than chocolate.

It's very real isn't it? I was being asked about when I'm having hte baby and said "4 weeks" and it just hit me, that's really not very long at all... ahh!!!

AlohaMama · 07/05/2013 18:22

ooooh minstrels. i miss minstrels - will be one of the compensations of moving back to england.

OP posts:
pinkbear82 · 07/05/2013 19:05

I'm aboard the denial boat too. The baby has to come out?!

must remember to get snacks to add to my bag and rather than just looking at baby's things actually put them in a bag too. if bubs decided to make an appearance now, it would probably be a case of grabbing the top of the pile of clothes and nappies. my dad's in fear of being sent out with a list while I'm waiting for the baby to arrive while I la la laaa and my mum puffs at me a lot about not being able to make dp suffer from hand squeezing! I think she was planning on torturing him, he may be glad he misses out on the whole thing now! Wink

AmIGoingMad · 07/05/2013 19:19

Ridiculously late in the day post to say it but - Good Luck Cycle! I'm also very impressed with your calmness!

Sarah- that's rubbish about hospital Hmm People keep saying about pregnant women's choices but really don't think we get many.

We had a lovely day at an animal park yesterday with DS. Only problem was that I totally overdid it and am now feeling rubbish. Struggled into work as my boss isn't the most understanding and ended up having to come home early. Am now in bed hoping to sleep it off by the morning as am not looking forward to the back to work interview if I have to take a day off. Grrrr!

Sorry rant over! Has anyone heard of/used/contemplated 'nipple formers'. I discovered them on the boots website and as mine are sometimes a little reluctant I'm wondering if they'll help me with breast feeding this time around.

RueDeWakening · 07/05/2013 20:21

AmI not heard of those! But you could always try nipple shields to start with, then remove them part way through the feed? Might be worth a go, anyway.

I had my last (AFAIK!) growth scan today, all looks reasonably OK - no worse than last time, still the same unique growth curve on the charts :o blood flow in the placenta still looks fine and fluid is good too. Current estimated weight though is 8lbs 1oz Shock so I guess we're looking at a 9lb ish baby at delivery next Thursday (OMG next Thursday, I'm so not ready still...EEK!).

I have my pre-op assessment for the section later this week, and final antenatal appointment next Tuesday - where I think they'll give me steroids to help the baby's lungs, but not sure yet - presumably this will be explained on Friday!

I also have a freezer full of colostrum :o and moved onto 5ml syringes today as I was filling several 1ml ones at each expressing. He best be peckish when he arrives...

cyclecamper · 07/05/2013 20:23

Managed to express another .9ml of colostrum Smile! I'm waiting for a second pessary. Things are obviously getting less comfortable, but not really moving enough.

RueDeWakening · 07/05/2013 20:23

Ooh hope it works cycle! And well done on the expressing, it's a bit like being in a milking parlour isn't it?

Steffanoid · 07/05/2013 20:40

omg rue and cycle you're making things so real! within the next 10 weeks even those who go over by a bit with stubborn little ones will all be mums! thats right in.charge of actual humans!! holy cow I've seen the sheildy things somewhere but my bf woman said they have tricks and things to get stubborn nipples to cooperate might be worth trying to ask?

pinkbear82 · 07/05/2013 20:51

you've all gone mad. actual babies, small humans, starting to arrive?! I deny all knowledge of this - when did this become part of the plan..... I demand a refund..... oh, no returns policy, I didn't read the small print..... oh good God...... you lit go ahead I'll be right behind you rocking in the corner muttering to self
