Welcome back all June-ers, just realised we were about to run out of space on the old thread.

Steff, Babywise, also known as Baby Matresses Online do bespoke mattresses at really good prices. Ours was 24.50 including postage and came in less than 2 weeks, matching my scale drawing perfectly (strange size / curve different at each end).

Try them out. :-)

MrsBri · 28/04/2013 16:18

And yes, littlemiss, I have a dark beach towel in my bag.

Sunbeam, try Tesco / other supermarket instead of Mothercare / Boots. The prices are far lower.

AlohaMama · 28/04/2013 16:25

Is that Moses basket shorter than usual then? Trying to find dimensions of mine. I would have thought with the moses mattress there was a bit of flexibility, as ours doesn't fit snug to edge and they are made of simple foam so if its too long you could just cut it down. I had been looking on Amazon before.

Not sure about crib mattress sorry. Presume you're going to have issues with bedding if you buy a non-standard size?

Oops x-post. Ignore my unhelpful advice!

Thanks for the websites and advice guys, the one thing my mum suggested with the crib was that if I ended up with one that was a little short I could just stuff the top to wedge it all in but I'm not sure that would be safe, but I guess if he's feet to foot then he won't be at the top of the crib and hell be out of it within 6months, I'll have a good look when I on my pc

arlandria666 · 28/04/2013 18:43

this is completely off topic was going to post Thursday but have been poorly all weekend with a bad tummy :-(
when i went to my midwife appointment on Thursday 34 weeks she told me baby was breech and confirmed by heart beat being really high up, when i went at 32 weeks he was head down will he turn again? i am back at midwife on Thursday i have to go weekly for my blood pressure its been shooting up but regulated for now. just wondered how long they leave you until they decide to turn baby or offer c section? this is my first baby and i am rather clueless :-( x x

Littlemissexpecting · 28/04/2013 18:50

I think I read somewhere they decide at 36 weeks whether to look at moving baby or offer cs but may be wrong. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm still feeling very uncomfortable, bump seems to hurt all the time at the minute. May phone in sick if i don't feel better in the morning but not sure if its warrants it? Can't really pinpoint what's wrong just feel rough.

Littlemissexpecting · 28/04/2013 18:52

When they say to look out for swollen fingers or toes how swollen do they mean? My fingers are going up and down and got no chance of putting wedding ring back on.

arlandria666 · 28/04/2013 19:29

littlemissexpecting i had to take my rings off a few weeks ago and can't wear any shoes only flip flops and they're a size bigger than i usually wear and my midwife didn't seem to concerned?just made a note that i had swelling i can't feel my fingers half the time tho my wrists are really bad i have to sleep in splints guess this is my payback for no morning sickness lol x x

SunnyL · 28/04/2013 20:04

Arlandria my midwife said it would be 37 weeks before they worry about breech. Even then a friend had her baby 'manipulated' into place. Of course they make you take your hospital bag with you when they try the manipulation in case it sparks labour off.

V tired this evening. Went a little mental with housework, dog walking and making a dress for my nieces birthday. It's weird the way I feel like I have plenty energy until I hit a wall and have to collapse on the sofa.

arlandria666 · 28/04/2013 20:12

thanks sunnyl if he is anything like his dad he will probably turn the day i go in for a section or something lol x x

Littlemissexpecting · 28/04/2013 20:14

I've just realised I don't think I've felt lo move since earlier today, maybe lunch time? When should I start to worry or do something? I've just had a mars ice cream to see if that does anything. I read that as the pg progresses they have less room to move, but I've got 7.5 weeks yet should I be worried?

massagegirl · 28/04/2013 20:24

Little miss I saw midwife last week and she said we should be expecting 10 movements in a 12 hour period. Also another midwife said to know your babies movements. Sorry I don't know if this is any help to you. If you are worried there should be number to call on your notes?

Littlemissexpecting · 28/04/2013 20:32

Really don't know what to do. DH is at work. Pattern of movements and timings have changed in the past week so not really got a routine of movements at the minute. Don't know if I'm reading too much into things (paranoid) or whether it is instincts telling me something's not right.
He definitely kicked about at lunch time but can't remember anything since

arlandria666 · 28/04/2013 20:34

as soon as i start thinking about movement or someone asks me i panic and can't remember when i last felt baby move baby had a really quiet day last Monday and i really worried i think it is hard to know when to ring my midwife said don't ever worry about ringing if you have any doubt xxxx

massagegirl · 28/04/2013 20:34

Try laying on your left hand side for a while. Ice cold drinks.
Or I find laying flat on my back normally prompts a few kicks. Also rubbing your tummy. Sometimes I think I don't notice movements if busy doing other bits and bobs.

Sarah2506 · 28/04/2013 20:37

Experienced mums some advice please! So we have baby clothes everywhere and now I start to think about less exciting things. So bedding. We have a baby bay with one waterproof sheet, a water proof mattress protector and two regular fitted sheets. One lowest tog sleeping bag. And a couple of small cellular blankets, oh and three swaddle blankets. Then we have the carry cot with 4 fitted jersey sheets- she will sleep in that when away from baby bay eg afternoon nap at my mothers. Then we have the big cot with 2 fitted waterproof sheets and 2 fitted jersey sheets, and one cellular blanket. Is this enough? What else do I need?? I know the shops don't shut cos you've had a baby but I'd like to cover most bases!! Thanks lovely ladies.

Steffanoid · 28/04/2013 21:04

Little miss I had the same yesterday, got to 5pm and had felt maybe 1 movement or two, called my and went to hospital for 4 hours, was monitored pee and bp taken, had a scan all is fine he's just a very lazy boy, they're sending me for another scan in the morning as it was just the registrar that was there last night and he said himself he's not used to scanning baby bellies really, the reason they've put in my hospital folder is to check the levels of fluid he's got in there, said its either a little much or not enough lol, he'll be ok, my LO still not really been moving loads today, a bit of a wriggle earlier but still not loads, think its just restricted space

learnermummy · 28/04/2013 21:08

You might want to consider a few more sheets Sarah - in case of leaky nappies or spit up (which can happen often!). It's been a while since I did the baby thing so can't really remember. Crikey am panicing now, really not organised yet!!

Arlandria, no direct experience of breech babies, but I know acupuncture can be very effective at turning them. there's a point on your little toe that they stimulate. Might be worth a try. Have also been told that you can use hypnosis to turn them apparently! Have read some horrible stories on here about manual turning of babies.

Busy weekend here, mainly gardening. Am very tired now!

learnermummy · 28/04/2013 21:08

Great news on the move by the way Aloha!

Littlemissexpecting · 28/04/2013 21:10

Thanks steff.
I called the 24 hour mw team and have left a message with someone who will get a mw to call me.
I've just felt 1 faint kick/movement since I left the message but definitely not as much as normal.
I've tried lying on my side as that normally guarantees a lot of movement but nothing. Also tried ice cream and a cold drink.

arlandria666 · 28/04/2013 21:42

learnermummy i have read some horrible things on here too :-(
he had hicups earlier and they felt pretty low but it might just be wishful thinking.
hope everything is okay littlemissexpecting x x

Steffanoid · 28/04/2013 22:13

Little miss this beast still isn't moving like normal, been a few squiggles, I'm crossing my fingers it means he's gonna be really well behaved and sleep. Through when he gets here! Very wishful I know
Arlandria I've heard 'scrubbing the floors' can gt the baby to turn around so get down on all fours and wiggle your bum in the air haha it'd be Sod's law that I'd get stuck somehow attempting it!

redwellybluewelly · 28/04/2013 22:42

Look up moxibustion re breech babies. Still time to turn naturally without intervention though.

Re sheets. We had two thick and two thin which were shared between the pram cot and the bednest. Never ran out. Also. Top tip. Fold muslin in half where their head ends up and that will catch most possets.

redwellybluewelly · 28/04/2013 22:45

And re movements. If in doubt call someone. The alternative isn't really worth thinking about.
