Hi Skelosia and welcome. Please add your due date etc to the stats thread - link in first post on this thread. Fingers crossed your pesky place ta decides to move up for you.

Shiv is a due in July poster who was the first of us to give birth when she was only 25 weeks pregnant - her little boy Oliver is our first thread baby and as such very precious to all of us. He is in NICU and has been since birth but is proving so far to be a fabululously resilient little man.

IcingTheCake · 06/05/2013 08:01

Welcome skelosia Smile

Shame about your placenta, fingers crossed it will have moved by then Smile

Anybody else struggling with the warmer weather? Cant sleep because its too hot but find i wake up feeling really ill if i have the fan on Sad any suggestions?

photographerlady · 06/05/2013 09:30

Icing the warm weather is making me so thirsty and I am sleeping two windows open every night now. Funny as I am usually always cold... Now I'm boiling.

IcingTheCake · 06/05/2013 09:54

Yeah we had both windows open and the fan on full, couldnt understand why i was still sweltering hot, then went downstairs and some so and so had turned the heating up to 25 degrees :o we normally keep it on 20, so thats now OFF and hopefully tonight ill sleep better for it Smile

Abzs · 06/05/2013 10:59

I'm also feeling a lot warmer, after being cold all winter. Slept last night with my feet sticking out from under the duvet.

Had some of that sunshine stuff yesterday. I pottered in the garden and drank a lot of water.

dinkystinky · 06/05/2013 11:06

Icing - cool ish shower before bed helps cool me down abit - a friend swears by a wet cold towel on her feet to cool her down. Fans spritz sprays and sleeping in as little as possible in a well ventilated room may help - or moving downstairs to kip on the sofa if an option

TotallyEggFlipped · 06/05/2013 11:50

Welcome Skelosia!

Anybody got any tips for dealing with swollen labia? Im getting really uncomfortable and hate standing up at all now because I feel so swollen. I'm only 29 weeks, so it's just going to get worse, isn't it? Sad

Cheeseandbread · 06/05/2013 14:21

Welcome skelosia

dinky glad your weekend of eating has gone well. I hope you are feeling a bit happier about schools if you've made a decision.

totally I've got the same problem- feels a bit strange down there so any tips gratefully received.

On another note my boobs have started leaking... (About half an hour ago I have them a squeeze and yellowish liquid started to come out) Feeling a bit of Shock as it all seems a bit more real...

29+2

MrsMillions · 06/05/2013 14:42

Welcome Skelosia

Dinky glad your Shaad went well, sounds a lovely thing to do, and top marks to your DH for the massage!

For those interested in an update on my MIL's random shopping, here is what she brought up this weekend...

The things we knew about:
Playmat - looks lots of fun, do they make adult sizes?!
Car sunshade/mobile thingy
Hooded towel
Muslins
Baby nail scissors

Kind of knew about a pram blanket as I did suggest it when she started itching to knit, super soft wool!

The things we didn't know about, in increasing degrees of randomness:
A couple of small toys
Fabric nursery rhyme book
Toy ties (to fix to pram)
Scratch mitts
Wipes - a choice of Pampers and Johnsons
Brush and comb set
Feeding bowls or something in that vein - not looked too closely as box clearly says 7m+ so don't need them for ages yet
....drum roll please...baby emery boards!!

VinegarDrinker · 06/05/2013 14:53

Baby emery boards? How on earth has DS1 survived so far without them.?! We are clearly Slack Parents! This baby now has the grand total of a packet of disposable nappies to her name Grin - although saying that she is miles away from actually having a name....

shiv - sending Oliver loads of 'keep on fighting' vibes. Can't imagine how tough this is for you.

SundaySunshine · 06/05/2013 16:39

Dinky glad your Shaad went well. What a great idea. I went to a BBQ last night and attempted to have my own private version by eating everything in sight. Not the same thing I'm sure but I had fun nonetheless Smile

SundaySunshine · 06/05/2013 16:40

Lol baby emery boards!

TotallyEggFlipped · 06/05/2013 16:51

IcingTheCake · 06/05/2013 16:54

PhieEl06 · 06/05/2013 17:48

Evening all, had a busy few days with getting ready for holidays & my dance show all day yesterday (unfortunately I was helping & not dancing), lolling at baby emery boards, who'd of thought a baby's perfectly manicured finger nails were top of your agenda, lovely thought on all the gifts by your MIL though MrsMillions.
Thoughts & prayers are with Shiv right now, OH & I are rooting for Oliver & sending positive vibes!
Icing sounds like you've had a lovely day, hope you enjoy your BBQ!
Currently writing to you all from Vilamoura, Portugal, we arrived this morning, & after an extremely stressful drive from the airport (my first time driving a car abroad) we are finally relaxing, nothing too interesting happening, I've had a nap this afternoon but off out to the Marina in about an hour or so for some dinner. Smile

Hope you've all enjoyed your bank holidays & the weather is still good back home! Will be on here often, I have my iPad & on our friends wifi so all is good, I am looking forward to the next 10 days! 29+2 how did that happen

MummyKanny · 06/05/2013 18:25

Hi all

It has been ages since I posted, just catching up on everyone's news. Hope everything is okay shiv, Oliver is a little trooper.

Welcome skelosia - I have the same placenta issue so have another scan at 34 weeks. I read somewhere that the large majority of placentas have moved by the third trimester so am keeping my fingers crossed. I'm seeing it as a chance to see our baby again Smile.

Has anyone's nesting instinct kicked in?! I don't think mine has.. I'm also struggling to eat lots! I was really hoping I could dig in and eat well but I seem to get full instantly. Sigh!

MummyKanny · 06/05/2013 18:25

Oops, 29+4, always forget that bit!

dinkystinky · 06/05/2013 18:56

Wow I did not see baby emery boards coming MrsMillions. I resorted to nibbling ends off sharp nails in the early days - if only I had known about those!

Phie - hope you have a lovely relaxing holiday.

Sunday - your own DiY BBQ Shaad sounds quite fun!

Cheese - wow at your milk coming in already. Look at it this way - your boobs are at least prepared for the new arrival, even if everything else isn't.

Totally - ouch re swollen labia. I had some of those perineal pad things from mother care for after birth - you stick in the freezer, then pop in a sleeve and can pop them between your pants and trousers post birth to numb that area. I wonder if something like that might help - or maybe arnica to reduce the welling (taken orally I hasten to add). Other than that, just keep reminding yourself its a phase - and avoid nookie which IME makes it even worse.

dinkystinky · 06/05/2013 18:59

Hmm welling should say swelling!

Shiv posted on FB today to say Oliver had a stable night and is starting to look more like his usual self.

cheekbyjowl · 06/05/2013 19:38

mummykanny nesting big time, never been so tidy. My husband says hes suffering from referred pain...im moody he gets told off, im getting fatter and making him diet, im nesting he has to tidy Grin

Ive had a really active weekend but baby seems inactive. Ill kick count tonight but does anyone else find this? Is it just that we dont notice when were moving about so much?

phie have a wonderful and relaxing holiday

cheekbyjowl · 06/05/2013 19:41

Great news on oliver. I think this little boy might grow up to be an olympian or champion boxer hes got so much fight and determination.

TotallyEggFlipped · 06/05/2013 19:53

Oh dear. I don't think I should've looked. I have vulval varicose veins and it looks like I have a massive bunch of red grapes between my legs. Blush
Poor DH - I don't think there's going to be much bedroom action for a while....

IcingTheCake · 06/05/2013 19:58

Oh no ive not even looked down there Blush might be the moment of truth tomorrow Confused

MrsMillions · 06/05/2013 20:08

I'm glad the baby emery boards amused you all. My RL friend said they're very useful as easier than scissors with a wriggly baby - well at least MIL has given me options, will let you know on our post-natal threads how I get on!

Shiv - crossing my fingers for another good night for Oliver.

esme80 · 06/05/2013 20:19

totally thats exactly how I feel! Down there I mean... Dont think Ill look though, would rather Not know! Ill be honest though dh hasnt had that much bedroom action anyway...
