We've managed to fill yet another thread, so here is a new one to keep chatting away on...

And the stats list is here

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Know the Gaviscon problem. Idiotically forgot to ask GP for it on prescription...I could buy shares in the company the amount I'm consuming!

Thinkingof4 · 01/05/2013 20:35

Shelley 10kg isn't much at all, I've gained about that and feeling really pleased! Can you face just snacking? I've always found fruit quite easy to snack on when feeling sick eg banana
Also just a thought but is your indigestion making you feel sick? If your stomach is inflamed GP could prescribe you something to reduce acid.

badmiss glad all was ok with baby, sounds scary

TotallyEggFlipped · 01/05/2013 20:39

My appetite is definitely diminishing. I used to snack all evening, but I'm still full from dinner now. All of my weight gain seems to be bump (and a tiny bit of boob). I'm getting paranoid that my arms are starting to look scrawny in comparison!

I'm feeling really lazy since I stopped running, so very jealous of everyone still exercising. To be honest, I feel so much pressure on my 'lady bits' just tanning around I don't think I would be up for running any more anyway.

IcingTheCake · 01/05/2013 20:52

totally i wish my arms looked scrawny Sad better that than the bingo wings I've suddenly acquired! Blush

dinkystinky · 01/05/2013 21:15

Am still doing pilates (prob switch to pregnancy DVD in the next couple of weeks), pregnancy yoga, light weights session and a pt session with boxing (my punches are getting less vigorous and water breaks more frequent so Muhammed Ali I am not nowadays) so arms looking fine and in proportion for now. I worry that without doing these things I'd end up looking like a character from peppa pig! I know that reference will sail over the head of most first timers but you will become v well acquainted with Ms Pig and her idiotic family in years to come...

Shelley - my pregnancy yoga teacher said carbs could exacerbate sickness/heartburn so maybe try modifying your diet habit to see if it helps? I agree with Thinking - light snacking on nutritious foods may be the way forward if you can force yourself to do it.

SlouchingPanda · 01/05/2013 22:18

I'm not really exercising! Just cycled to clinic for my anti d because traffic and parking are so horrendous the car would have taken hours!

VinegarDrinker · 01/05/2013 22:48

Haha all you impressed people, don't be impressed by me! Yes I cycle to work (so 12 miles a day) but I do it pretty slowly and do no other exercise! And I only do it because it is such a lovely off road (canal towpath) route that it is about a million times more pleasant than rush hour public transport! (Plus I am a tightwad!)
The sheer amount I ate in first and second trimesters mean it hasn't made a jot of difference to my overall weight gain... And as for those who have only put weight o&n their bumps, I am seriously jealous! My thighs and bum are double their usual proportions I swear.

shelley72 · 02/05/2013 07:20

Thank you. Thinking about it, particularly bad episodes have been when I've had toast for dinner or a sandwich for lunch, though I seem to be ok with cereal. I am tending to eat little and often these days as I can't face big meals. It's making meal planning and cooking for everyone a real struggle. I am not even sure what I fancy to eat any more. Any ideas for something yummy?

I think I am bigger all over, not just bump (like first time round) definitely don't have the scrawny problem here! I was bigger pre pregnancy with the other two so don't think the weight showed up so much iyswim. This baby feels bigger too, think it's going to be hugeShock.

On a different matter does anyone know what the weather is going to be like at the weekend? Has been lovely last couple of days. Was going to cancel our shopping trip and head to the seaside instead. I'm being too hopeful aren't I?!

And is it only me that's struggling with names? I know there's no hurry but everything I like dh goes meh and vice versa. I know they won't be together forever but it has to not look too odd with sibling names eg we can't suddenly have a dc called rainbow or some such. Anyone know of any websites where you can put in the kind of names you like and it will suggest more?

Have a good day all

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 02/05/2013 07:53

Shelley there is a website that matches sibling names think I just googled 'names to match siblings' and it found it like that, you can add yours in if not in the list too for future users. Will see if I can find it.

cheekbyjowl · 02/05/2013 08:37

shelley weather looks good. Not tropical but park and sunshine good. Def dont stay indoors. 18 in london.

I put on a stone at about 26 weeks (strangely coincides with easter Wink ) but still the same now though feel like a barge in full sail

30 weeks today Smile

MrsRoss26 · 02/05/2013 08:40

Dinky that's really helpful, thank you. I think I'm running out of space now anyway, so hopefully I won't be able / have the inclination to be a human dustbin for much longer.

Shelley I've seen that it's going to be nice in the South West, not sure about where you are, but generally I've heard it's meant to be a great bank holiday weekend for a change. I'd make the most of it and get out if you can!

The thing I've found more recently is that I want to get out, even for short walks, to relieve the restlessness in my legs in the evenings. Probably a result of the 10kg (+??) I've also gained so far!

photographerlady · 02/05/2013 09:05

Morning all, quick question from me. Those of you ladies that have had babes before when did you start to get stretch marks? I am 29 weeks and haven't had any but in the back of my mind I am thinking they are going to sneak up on me all of a sudden in the 30s... if I keep growing outward at this rate.

BB01 I am struggling with work too. I leave at 34 weeks (last friday in May) and took 2 days off this week. Training replacements is finally coming to plan but I am so tried and I think I have my sights on freedom.

topic appetite I am snacking less but sadly still have room in the evening for an icecream. I need to really give up bad snacks this week, will pop out later today and pick up nuts, cereal bars and other non crisp items. Its my ride home on the train at the end of the day that makes me snack.

shelley72 seaside sounds nice! I hope sunday is a nice day I talk the DH into heading down to the beach too :)

IcingTheCake · 02/05/2013 09:31

Do you know i think i would be fine not snacking, but then mcdonalds released a chocolate mcflurry and double choc chip cookie (my friends who work there say its gooey and lovely) ahhh Confused at least i dont work there anymore, used to get a free meal (including dessert) every shift Shock

dinkystinky · 02/05/2013 09:55

MrsRoss - going out for some gentle exercise in the evenings will also help with your digestion and help you sleep abit better - so you're doing the right thing!

BB01 - my job is sedentary but stressful. Am doing ok at work at the moment but can tell by the end of May I'll be struggling (but then will only have a couple of weeks left and hopefully be slipping into wind down mode).

Shelley - we're also struggling to agree on a name for Bean. We're ok if Bean is a girl as there is one (only one though) girls name we both like, but if Bean is a boy (as I suspect) we cant agree on any at all. I'd be interested in that website too Twinkle if you can find it.

Abzs · 02/05/2013 11:55

dinky if you can hang to see what we get, we could swap you our boy's name if necessary! My neighbour reckons as I don't look pregnant from the back I must be having a girl.

Have I said that before? I have Pooh style fluff for brains at the moment...

dinkystinky · 02/05/2013 12:36

That's what my friends and colleagues said first and second time round too Abzs... two boys later, I cant find the heart to remind them when they say it this time round again!

BB01 · 02/05/2013 12:52

Shelley if you can stomach liquids more easily could you try nice nutritious soups (you can freeze lots of homemade batches), smoothies or juices? You can make some nice veg-based juices too. Frozen yoghurt would give you some calcium at least if you fancy that kind of thing. Whenever my stomach plays up (regularly!) I find potatoes and rice seem some of the easiest things to digest.

BB01 · 02/05/2013 12:58

Thanks cheek, I tried today. The big problem is he doesn't listen properly and if he does he interrupts or somebody else interrupts or he just changes the conversation as he'll remember something he wants to talk about. You're right though that he doesn't necessarily know what it's like (his wife flew through pregnancy feeling great it sounds like!) and/or what to suggest. I did make a some suggestion that we could start the handover a bit earlier than he suggested (which was two days before i leave) and he said yes, but that's as far as it went as he changed the subject. When I said how tired I was he actually said can't you finish earlier. So he'd rather I just finish than to still be here and to be working but just not doing so much as before. Grrr!
Will keep persisting though.

Glad I'm not alone in feeling knackered at work although not saying I'm glad you are all knackered too, if you know what I mean!!

shelley72 · 02/05/2013 12:59

afternoon. abzs now i've been told that if you dont look pregnant from the back (ie you are mostly bump) then it must be a boy! one of those people will be right!

dinky what makes you think you are having a boy? i also think (at the moment) that i am having another boy - my tummy is very furry like it was with DS - though the heart rate is high >140 and the MWs havent been wrong with that before. DH and DD also think its a boy, though DS who was correct last time thinks its another girl, and would quite like a little sister.

photographer not sure when the stretch marks appear. maybe you will be lucky and they wont. i did read somewhere (probably on MN) that its largely genetic whether you get them or not. still doesnt stop me slathering on the cocoa butter in the morning.

yes i am SW(ish) weather is looking better for monday so will try and persuade DH to go down to dorset. he has been travelling about a lot this week and we are all quite tired so may just want to not venture too far.

baby names: have found this website nymbler where you can add your existing DCs names or names you like and it will throw up suggestions. i have two names that i really like (boy, girl) but DH not mad about them. put my DCs names in and guess what was on the first list of suggestions?! so any other naming sites would be good to look at too Smile

TotallyEggFlipped · 02/05/2013 13:41

I think DH & I have found a girls name we both like. It's not my favourite, but it's growing on me. DH vetoed all the names I really love.
We're a long way from finding a boys name we can agree on. (Just like last time - luckily DC1 is a girl)

TotallyEggFlipped · 02/05/2013 13:42

By the way, the weather in south devon is great today & looking good for the weekend.....Grin

dinkystinky · 02/05/2013 15:41

Extremely similar pregnancy to the last two times Shelley - right down to no morning sickness, mood swings in early pregnancy, carrying all up front and extra hair on tummy. The baby name website you linked to suggested Nimrod as a poss baby name - will use that one on DH to see his face Grin

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend all. Am off to my parents up north this weekend to have my Shaad (hindu blessing of the baby via stuffing the mum full of food).

SlouchingPanda · 02/05/2013 19:51

Dinky I am very much in favour of the Shaad - it sounds like a superb way of blessing the baby . I am sure little Nimrod will enjoy it immensely!

30+0 today! Whoop! Grin

Cheeseandbread · 02/05/2013 21:10

Dinky hope your Shadd goes well- it sounds great. Regarding your primary school dilemma if DS1 is happy there then hopefully DS2 will be too. When they are little what you do at home is so important and it really shows those who take an interest in their children's education- which you obviously do. It is suprising the amout of parents I come across who don't even seem to talk to their children much...

Icing I want a mcflurry now! Thanks for your kind words of support.

Regarding feeling shattered- yup I'm with you there... Although over the past couple of weeks my appetite doesn't seem as big.

Sorry to those who have had scares recently- glad everyone seems ok again.

Just wanted to let Shiv know that little Oliver is still in my thoughts. I hope he is continuing to get stronger.

28+5

SundaySunshine · 02/05/2013 22:05

Hi all,
abzs and badmiss glad things ok with you both after your scares - your neighbours sound lovely abzs

Dinky re school dilemma, my friend recently took her boys out of private primary as they were really unhappy. They are now in the local state and are loving it, and have done really well. I'm not sure if that helps any, but I guess if your DS is happy and doing well where he is then it might be best to stick with what you (and he) know.

I'm another one suffering bad acid burn, especially when I lay on my right hand side. I'm also getting loads of BH. didn't get any with DD but maybe I'm more active this time round with DD keeping me on my toes.

Work have already started up a sweepstake on me as one colleague is convinced I'm not going to make it to the end of May without popping!! Not sure what she bases this purl of wisdom on, but it's a bit disconcerting Confused

hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the lovely sunshine. Any more updates from team Shiv and little Oliver? Hope all is ok with them.
