Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
shelley72 · 26/04/2013 20:34

Oh shiv you've made me cry. That's fab news!

notprincesskate · 26/04/2013 20:42

I'm very excited for you shiv such an amazing feeling.
Despite us having pretty much everything from DD I have still managed to shop for things that I didn't have first time, and really want or don't really need but still want! Although mostly its bits of furniture to turn our spare room into a nursery/spare room combo, also not sure whether DH has fully noticed that I have also acquired 2 new pushchairs, so that I have 4 in total [shocked].
Had GTT this am, with my one good vein well and truly used now. No plans for the weekend suspect it will be more feeling sorry for myself with these dreadful shingles, never had something that is so constantly painful Sad

notprincess sorry you are still feeling so poorly, hope you can curl up on couch and watch your favourite DVDs to take your mind off things

Sorry on phone so can't name check any more!
Another week gone, only 5 weeks left to work, starting to feel really tired so much as I love my job I'm looking forward to stopping
Fx for some good weather this weekend, strange weather here today with hailstones then sunshine then torrential rain. Just sunny tomorrow please!

TotallyEggFlipped · 26/04/2013 21:07

Great news, shiv!!!

Runswithsquirrels · 26/04/2013 21:36

Aw Shiv, that's great to hear! :')

dinkystinky · 26/04/2013 22:10

Shiv - that's awesome news: so delighted for you and Oliver! Hope the cuddle makes expressing easier - and he continues to feed and get bigger and stronger. Bet he can't wait for the next cuddle x

Abzs - this is what happens when you spend all day on the sofa! Maybe you can claim its uber-nesting!

Notprincesskate - so sorry the shingles are causing you so much pain. Hope you get lots of rest in at the weekend

SundaySunshine · 26/04/2013 22:34

Yay shiv wonderful wonderful news

Just in the middle of a major BH Hmm getting them loads recently they wake me up on the middle of the night. The up side is though I panicked myself into doing my hospital bag Grin

notprincesskate really feel for you, shingles is rubbish, hope you feel better soon.

Sorry your weekend plans have gone pear shaped dinky good your DS managed an alternative.

Hope everyone else is ok. Thanks goodness for the weekend eh?

SundaySunshine · 26/04/2013 22:35

DSis not DS!

McKTastic · 26/04/2013 22:51

Really lovely news shiv Grin

Hope the expressing is going well. My DD was only 4 weeks early but couldn't latch initially so I expressed for 6 weeks until she learned how. She's two now & only stopped BF last month (self weaned prob bce my milk supply's gone down in pregnancy) Anyway it's not easy keeping it going & you've a lot more to cope with at the moment too. Hope you're getting good BF support if you're hoping to continue.

Thinking of you, your family & Oliver.

Hello to everyone else Grin

SilverBirdie · 26/04/2013 23:16

Hi all Smile
I've been a lurker for a while and never managed to put myself on any of the lists.
I am self employed and a sahm most of the week to our Ds 2.8 so time isn't something I've had much of. Now though, my nesting is getting ridiculous so I'm thinking of shutting my business down early to get organised before dd arrives. Dh works from home too so this place is a pig sty Sad

I am 28 + 5 with dd and am dreading the thought that I'm probably going to have an elective c sec Sad still trying to tell myself it's the right decision. According to notes from Ds' birth I have Cephlopelvic Disproportion and am already measuring 32 weeks. Sad
Ds was emergency csec after awful labour, was big, long and had a huge head so I'm hopeful that the recovery from an elective will be a lot different.

Due date is 14th July but could be earlier if elcs. There's not been much talk of names on here, not the bits I've read anyway. This is a very chatty thread Smile
Is everyone keeping it a secret? Smile
We have a top 4 but the no.1 is a marmite name and I think i might be too chicken to use it Sad

Really pleased to read about Oliver's good progress shiv

Hope everyone else has a fab weekend Smile

Cheeseandbread · 27/04/2013 00:03

Just got to bed after my night out- a late one for me as I'm usually in bed by 9 these days...

So nice to have great news about Oliver. *shic I hope you and DH are keeping well.

AmaDablam · 27/04/2013 06:39

Morning all. I'm in danger of becoming a bit of a lurker on here, having got too used to popping a quick comment on the FB group instead, but I do still check in most days!

Been awake since 3 Sad. Woke up for a pee then spent half an hour worrying because I couldn't feel the baby move, then another hour lying there whilst she had a full on rave party! Oh well, who needs sleep? Good training for the not too distant future I guess...

Welcome SilverBirdie hope you're well. There has been a fair bit of chat about names on here but I think most people either haven't made their final choice yet or are keeping it a secret. We have decided (I think) but aren't breathing a word until she's here!

Great news about Shiv last night, so happy she's finally been able to have a cuddle with her boy Smile

Arghhhhh I have very sore leaky boobs I don't usually get them this early. Has anyone else had this yet? Ive gone right through a bra (I can't sleep without one on) and vest through the bed sheet onto the mattress. Do you think it will calm down again before dc arrives or am I stuck like this for the foreseeable?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 27/04/2013 13:00

Quickly checking in. :)

Charlotte I've had this since about 17/18 weeks. I had it with my DS1 as well unfortunately and it didn't go away. :(

Just back from a second hand baby sale, got some bargains. A tummy tub for £4, one of those big baby bean bags with a rocker for it and play gym arch thing on it for £20 and some lovely wee clothes.

Also bought a maternity top, the woman and man at the stall were very whispery when I took it to pay for it, to the point I asked what's wrong, she said nothing. Got it home and there is massive burn holes all over the bottom of it. Angry

notprincesskate · 27/04/2013 15:10

Is anyone else thinking of doing any bulk baking, I was/am hoping to, as I'm off sick at the moment I'm wondering if I should get on and do it now so its ready, we have room in our freezer, but as it could potentially be in there for 10 weeks + I'm not sure if its a good idea, we are usually really bad and have stuff in the freezer for ages past its supposed date, but have never had any adverse effects, and I always make sure its properly cooked second time round.
What do you think?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 27/04/2013 15:31

I'll probably batch cook a load of stuff when I get to about 33 weeks. Not sure about how long it will keep though but will be handy when you start getting bigger and more tired again and really can't be arsed.

shelley72 · 27/04/2013 18:52

i am going to batch cook too in a few weeks when i can be bothered.

i remember the MW doing post natal visits with DC1 asking, 'whats it today then?'. she found it quite amusing i think but at least we/i was eating good food (allbeit reheated) rather than living on take aways! i seem to remember doing lots of casseroles, lasagnes, tagines etc.

not sure how much i will get done this time, but will definitely be getting muffins etc done for lunch boxes. like they are going to survive in the freezer for 6 weeks Blush. will also be getting a food order ready so it can be delivered as soon as we are all home. i seem to live on toast and cake for the first week or so anyway but i suppose my children will want to eat!!!

bad luck with the mat top schro - i bought an 'excellent condition' jojo maman top from ebay the other week - was so disappointed with it, all bobbly but not worth the postage/hassle of sending back. especially disappointed as the same weekend i won a cheaper one which was brand new Shock. its a shame that some people arent entirely honest!

MrsMillions · 27/04/2013 19:43

A bit belated but wow, Shiv, excellent news...that must have been the best cuddle of your life.

I'm loving the suggestions on what MIL will buy next. They're up next weekend and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she finds something else before then, will keep you all posted.

Dad's birthday not until July but we're celebrating early as I won't be making a 4 hour journey then! Still a few weeks to go but as every Mary/Delia/Nigella wannabe knows a fruit cake needs feeding with booze, I will enjoy breathing it in as I do it. Have got the fruit soaking in rum now, can't quite believe how much there is and a bit worried I don't have a bowl big enough for the full cake mix.

On names...think we're sorted for a girl but still struggling on boys. Told the mw our girls name but haven't shared with family or friends, will definitely be waiting until we announce the baby's arrival.

Hi ladies...looking through some old pg books (thought I'd better give myself a refresher-just as well, how could I forget to think about getting bibs?!)

Anyway I got looking at sites for tens hire-found a site that does 7 wk hire starting at about £18-£21.. Anyway, here's the site details for anyone that's thinking about it

VinegarDrinker · 27/04/2013 23:20

We didn't use bibs until weaning.... Guess it depends how sicky your baby is!

cheekbyjowl · 28/04/2013 00:17

Wooo shiv. That's amazing! Is there a way of putting photos on mn? If so i would love to see a pic of Oliver.
Notprincess outchie. Shingles sounds horrible - i really hope it clears up for you
Ama are you kick counting? I'm trying to but not sure if it re-assures me or worries me as seems a bit sporadic. Right now sprog is auditioning for riverdance, two nights ago it was sleeping lions.

I've discovered nesting. I didn't know that happened. I'm about to de-clutter till there's nothing left.

Goodnight all. Hope you're having good weekends.

Cheeseandbread · 28/04/2013 07:17

notprincess how funny you mentioned baking- I was thinking about this the other day. I think if you want to do some now go for it... I'm never sure how long things are supposed to be in the freezer but have eaten many things that have been in there for a long while Confused Think I'm going to do some when I'm on mat leave. Sorry you are poorly at the mo.

Sycro how annoying about your top!

At MIL this weekend and SIL came over and has given us an old cot and lots of lovely clothes that her daughter has grown out of which is great! The conversation turned to Christmas at one point and where we were going- too early! I know my Mum would kill me if it wasn't spent with her so I tried to stay quiet... I'll talk with DH later and sort it. We also got into the subject of mat leave which annoyed me- MIL (who I get on really well with and usually sides with me over DH) annoyed me as she was saying she worked up to 39 weeks. At the moment I'm going at 35 but after the week I've had I feel like going sooner... I think it's different for everyone and hate feeling judged. I went to bed feeling cross Angry still feel a bit annoyed now...

I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday

dinkystinky · 28/04/2013 09:08

Morning all and welcome Silver birdie - please add yourself to the stats list. Don't worry about your ELCS - my friend had a crash CS with DS1 and an elective with her twins last month and she said it was worlds apart - she's recovered really, really well. And she worked up to the day of her ELCS - god knows how! Re names - Dh and I are leaving it till nearer the birth as we can't agree on them!

Schro - super annoying re the top but otherwise great bargains. Enjoy the tummy tub - both boys loved it in theirs for the first few months.

Cheese - try not to get annoyed re mat leave comments. Its your pregnancy and your body and job - you know best when to finish work.

Re batch cooking - aiming on living on lovely salads and fruit with a summer baby - that is if the summer ever arrives!

MightBeMad · 28/04/2013 09:30

Shiv - amazing news!!!! I too would love to see a photo of Oliver :)

IndecisivePramBuyer81 · 28/04/2013 10:31
