Smashing news smitten, I bet the relief you are feeling is amazing. And congrats to you too Cherry.

Seeing as this is a good day for news we are waiting to hear off the estate agents regarding a house, it's my dream house and I want it so much, I'm hoping the good news day will come my way too x

Claphammama · 23/04/2013 16:41

Great news smitten!!

And good luck flyer - lets hope this good news streak continues!

Natalieand · 23/04/2013 16:44

Amazing news smitten here to a smooth running pregnancy for you from now on, did you find out the babies sex from the tests or was that not possible?

Smitten1981 · 23/04/2013 16:51

Thanks everyone. I did ask the sex and she said that it wasn't on the results, boo. But I can wait for that! Grin

Soupqueen · 23/04/2013 17:12

smitten, I am delighted to hear your news!

Shirehobbit · 23/04/2013 17:19

Yay smitten and cherry - what great days for you both Grin

And sad for umlauf and your b/sil. Though nowhere near as bad, a friend at work has been ttc as long as us and oddly, our m/cs have all been in a month of each other. But she's finding it very hard now, especially as it was made public at work last week so it's staff room gossip, too. And of course, I feel awful.

cazboldy · 23/04/2013 17:46

Smitten and Cherry im so pleased for you both! Smile

Good Luck on the new house flyer

favellio · 23/04/2013 17:54

Hi ladies, just checking in. On holiday in Sorrento, Italy and found we have free wifi in the hotel bar, so thought I'd make use of a bit of free time before dinner. The (very sexy...sshhh don't tell DH) barman is bringing me a constant supply of non-alcoholic cocktails Smile
Just had a little catch up and read through. Congrats on all the happy heartbeats. I'm hoping to hear our at 16 week appointment (even tho I'll be 18wks).

I had to tell a colleague and old school friend I was expecting last week. I was dreading it as I know her and her husband have been trying for ages and are unable to get IVF on NHS as he has children already Hmm luckily she was fantastic about everything. I was so relieved!!

Unfortunately little bump has meant there is a few Italian excursions we are in able to do. One being a day trip to Rome - don't think I'd cope with a 4hr coach journey each way, as I also have hypermobilty syndrome which affects my joints. my hip and lower back have been extra bad since early pregnancy. And another trip to a thermal springs spa clearly states no pregnant women Hmm oh well, plenty of other stuff we can do Grin

Hope you are all well xx

cherrycherry41 · 23/04/2013 18:21

Oh smitten so pleased for you! :D
also 34pink have you stolen my MIL? haha.

Racheld33 · 23/04/2013 18:47

Brilliant news smitten, time for a lovely stress free evening in your house tonight!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 23/04/2013 19:08

That's fab news smitten. Hope you can celebrate a bit now and relax after all that stress.

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/04/2013 19:15

Great news cherry and smitten! I have been thinking about you today and keeping my fingers crossed. I am so pleased for you both.

I just got my letter back from the hospital. Downs risk 1 in 370 which is obviously fine and good news but it is higher (lower?) than I expected it to be.

Nuchal measurement 2.4mm 1.32 MOM
HcG 72.2. 2.12 MOM
PAPP-A 3179. 0.53 MOM

High HcG and low PAPP-A is the bad way round I think so am feeling a bit worried, which is silly really, and then feeling guilty because people here have such worse news and I know really 1 in 370 is fine and i am being silly. Just for my age, healthy weight, non smoker etc I was expecting well over 1000.

I felt sick and shaky and couldn't eat last night for the first time in weeks and then couldn't sleep very well so probably just feeling a bit fragile today.

Great news smitten - what a relief x

Bronzemoth · 23/04/2013 19:47

Great news Smitten.

I've been reading back over the posts I missed and it was so sad to read some of the not so good news especially poor Rockchick who seemed to answer most of my questions in my first few weeks of feeling confused as to what to expect, so some good news is great.

Out of interest can anyone help me with how long my 16 week appointment likely to take - I'm busy trying to balance various things on Monday (husbands 30th so have lunch and various things planned) including said appointment.

Orangeblossom - I'm sure I'd feel the same as you, it is just a tiny risk. It still 99.7% certain that everything is fine. It seems that that they just want to cover themselves if there is any deviation from the exact 'normal' average.

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/04/2013 19:48

Been straight to dr google for reassurance. Apparently being vegetarian can make your hcg levels higher, so can the baby being a girl. So I am thinking one of those two are the cause.

Whoever said they are always worrying about what might go wrong I am exactly the same. My mum seemed very surprised by this. I think perhaps ignorance was bliss in the days before we had so much information available.

Soupqueen · 23/04/2013 20:10

Sorry, last post was very rushed (bus pulling up to stop), I am of course delighted to hear the other good news too.

orange, I'm sorry your results weren't what you hoped for. It was my bloods too that increased my risk factor. Although I'm 36, I hadn't expected it after a NT of 1.7, non smoker, very healthy etc.

When they took the blood sample, I actually asked if being veggie could make a difference as I'd read it could and didn't want to be in the position I'm in just now simply because I'm veggie. The midwife looked at me as though I was bonkers. I think it does make a difference, it just hasn't reached the NHS yet. I'm sure you will be absolutely fine, but understand completely why you're concerned.

I've had another windy afternoon/evening. I ate completely different foods today so I'm running out of ideas to combat it.

roofio87 · 23/04/2013 20:28

bronzemoth my appointment took 10 mins today. She just noted down that I'm well and have no problems, listened for hb but found it pretty quick.then gave me a prescription for gaviscon. did have to wait half an hour before appointment though!!

FeministInTraining · 23/04/2013 20:34

So happy for Cherry and Smitten I don't post much but I do read along and had my fingers crossed for you. Keeping fx for others waiting for tests.

Orange I think we have all committed ourselves to a lifetime of worrying already! Sorry your results have made you worry more, (even though they're still very good odds). I would suggest you stick to what you've already read on Dr Google and don't search anymore though, if you're anything like me then sometimes it causes more worries!!

Sorry to hear about your BIL and SIL Umlauf it must be difficult for them- but don't feel guilty, you haven't done anything wrong. I'm sure they know how much you wanted it to work out for them- and I think that to even consider surrogacy is so lovely and shows how much you care for them.

roofio87 · 23/04/2013 21:21

just got home from work, not seen dp all day so was all excited to show him the video of baby's hb but he barely even looked at it because the footballs on!! bloody men!! Haha!!

roxvox · 23/04/2013 21:24

Pleased to hear it smitten!

I should be getting my results soon. Any time after Thursday means I am low risk, so I have a couple more days of holding my breath.

bronzemoth my appointment was closer to 30 minutes, and the midwife did do the Doppler and found the heart beat straight away, so the rest of the time was filled with the midwife filling up my pregnancy book with all of my blood test results, as well as taking my blood again and blood pressure and also I had a couple of questions for her (probably took up 5 minutes).
