Ooh and there are some really good 'learn to knit' tutorials on YouTube if you're interested- if you've got time you could do a whole blanket without needing to do complicated stitches or even just aim for a pair of booties or a hat by October. If you have a local haberdashery/wool shop they might point you in the right direction, some of them even have knitting groups! Have a look online, I did consider joining one but ended up sticking with YouTube out of laziness! People looked v interested when I used to knit on the train, and I love seeing teenagers knit at college it always makes me smile.

Haylebop12 · 21/04/2013 11:39

I would love to be able to. I do have a wool
Shop in local town so supplies easy to come by. Would def look on YouTube. I think my sister can knit, she's very crafty like that. Maybe once I've broke up from work an dd full time school I would have loadsa time.

roofio87 · 21/04/2013 11:41

thank you feminist all my knitting skills are courtesy of my DM, wouldn't have been able to do it without her help!! I liked that pattern because it looks like it was a lot harder and more complicated than it was Haha!!

Haylebop12 · 21/04/2013 11:43

roofio that blanket is beautiful.

cherrycherry41 · 21/04/2013 12:05

feminist its me with the DD Savannah Smile coincidently we liked Isaac early on too.
DP's fave name atm is Georgia but we cant have that as in the US the city of Savannah is in the state of Georgia... he doesnt think it matters as we live in the UK but it bugs me!
Toying with the names Violet and Lavinia atm... hmmm...

Natalieand · 21/04/2013 12:15

I too love Isaac and willow. Infact willow is on our short list of girls names

Don't let other people's opinions put you off when ppl asked us about names with dd and I said honey everyone said it reminded them of a dog lol now I'm all for people's opinions but I thought that was a bit harsh considering I had just told them I was naming my newborn baby daughter it lol xxx

FeministInTraining · 21/04/2013 12:32

Natalie I'm trying not to laugh, that's so rude and insensitive it's a bit funny- although you must have wanted to smack them! Jemima is the one that gets mixed reviews- love or hate I think, my friend told me she would call my baby something else. Told her to F off.

I do like a pattern that gives the illusion of difficulty roofio Wink

Smitten1981 · 21/04/2013 12:38

We had Willow on our list but it clashes with our surname, which is annoying.

We have Darcy, Astrid and Martha for a girl and Seth, Felix and Sebastian for a boy. DH loved Gulliver but I had to put my foot down on that one. Ha ha.

roofio87 · 21/04/2013 12:41

smitten Sebastian is also on our short list for a boy, but I think we're quite set on Hunter for a boy. Aria and Sadie are my top ones for a girl (I prefer Aria but dp prefers Sadie!)

Smitten1981 · 21/04/2013 12:42

Hunter is a great boy name too. It's good hearing other people's suggestions.

I'm pretty sure we're having a girl though. I guess I'll find out this week when we get the CVS results back.

cherrycherry41 · 21/04/2013 12:48

roofio thats really odd, dp came home last night and said he saw a little girl called Sadie at a football match and said could we add it to our list. Im not overly keen but it is a nice name Smile

roofio87 · 21/04/2013 12:53

it is quite old fashioned cherry (its dps man's name!) but I do really quite like it. Hunter was his idea and he's really keen so I might push for my choice on girls names before we know what we're having!!

Umlauf · 21/04/2013 13:14

Sebastian is on our middle name list, as baby conceived and will be born in a city called San Sebastian! i lo e the name but it is the name of an ex!!!

TheFalconsmistress · 21/04/2013 13:36

Most recent scan uploaded! you will all get to see my cutie

FeministInTraining · 21/04/2013 15:10

Ooh lovely, is that a hand in mouth I can see? Not v good at scan pic reading!!

MotherOfNations · 21/04/2013 15:25

Sadie is a pet name for Sarah. My mum is Sarah and always gets called Sadie amongst family which she hates.

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/04/2013 16:18

Sorry to hear about DPs cousin roofio. (I think it was you? Sorry if I have mixed up names).

Cherry, DHs grandmother is called Lavinia so I too associate it with an older generation, but older girls names are coming back into fashion at the moment aren't they.

I am knitting too. I am not very good but made these booties which are really easy booties and am currently doing this blanket which just needs knit and purl stitch but looks more complicated than it is because it makes a square pattern blanket

Next I want to make a hat but you seem to need several needles or double ended needles which I don't have. Or maybe a cardigan.

We just had a friend over for lunch, now having a little rest before going in the garden to plant some potatoes. The sun has gone in again but still want to have a bit of outdoor time this weekend.

Happy Sunday to everyone, hope your all relaxing. I have a question... I seem to be getting a numb bum, hips, thigh and even spreads towards my front bits (never know the appropriate public term). I'm 13 weeks, size 8 and not really showing yet. It happens when I'm sitting down on the sofa, I don't sit 'properly' on the sofa (back to the back of sofa, feet on floor) I sit with my legs up, to the side however really. Should I take more precautions? Could this be something medical? Is it worth telling the midwife? Has anyone else experienced something like this?

takingachance · 21/04/2013 18:35

I love the name Sadie, cherry

Aww, Orange I keep debating whether to go 'live' on Facebook! Practically everyone knows anyway, so I probably ought to...

Slippy it is probably because the extra weight inside you is pressing on a nerve in that position? If all is ok when you sit normally or lie down then I'm sure all is fine. Never hurts to mention these things to the midwife though?

I'm absolutely shattered tonight. Was working today and the situation conspired to deny me any lunch Sad Breakfast at 7am and then only a Mars Bar until 6pm. I don't think this should affect the baby though, should it?

Smitten1981 · 21/04/2013 18:50

Just sent DH out to get a MacDonalds for dinner. I've lost 3lbs this week, probably from stressing, so think I deserve one. Ha ha.

I'll eat it while watching the London Marathon highlights Grin

takingachance · 21/04/2013 18:59

Everyone deserves a Macdonalds now and then Grin My nearest MaccyDs is 5 hours away!!

Haylebop12 · 21/04/2013 19:13

Definitely treat yourself!

Dh cooked cottage pie and veg for tea so we went to the pub for a drink and a pud Smile early night all round in our house. Dd is pooped from a busy weekend and I think my energetic week has caught up with me.

Natalieand · 21/04/2013 19:19
