No offence taken lol, I didn't really consider n e thing like that when I named dd. dh just spotted the name honey in a name book and we fell in love with it instantly xx

Natalieand · 18/04/2013 21:08

feminist I just googled the britax buggy looks very nice!!! But nope I haven't seen one in a shop xxx

NotYoMomma · 18/04/2013 21:24

I hadn't considered it either until I found myself surrounded by 'ee's in playgroup lol - my own child included!

Takes [tea] gratefully

I'm quite nervous about labour this time as last time was very quick. Was good for me but I was pushing after 1.5 hours. First I knew about it was full on contractions every 2.5 minutes!

I'm seriously fearful of having a toilet baby or a bathroom floor baby this time! I need to chill out and not think about it ack!

Claphammama · 18/04/2013 22:23

Lucky you NotYoMamma! I was induced and suffered from 4am to 1pm with almost no brakes between contractions and no pain relief apart from gas and air (they brainwashed me in NCT classes...) really hoping for an easier affair this time... would love a water birth. didn't work out last time. I can imagine your stress though. Perhaps there is a hotel in front of the hospital for the final two weeks? :-)

DP is now fed up and refusing to discuss names any longer... I can't stop thinking about it though. My little boy is Leonardo, Leo for short (Italian connections) although noone seems to be using the short version. It took me ages to choose it then. I want something similar - longer and particular but something that can be shortened to something nice and simple.

Hi, sorry to gatecrash your thread, but just wanted to give MoN a little encouragement with my own experience of large Nucal measurement (10.7mm) Shock. I had a CVS which was very uncomfortable, not painful (however I felt very faint). Anyway, my little girl was diagnosed with Turners syndrome. I was monitored very closely throughout my pregancy and my gorgeous girl was born March 2011 weighing 5lb 3oz.

She is now 2 years old and is a right character, small (in 9-12 months clothes), but very strong willed!! Grin. She is a little behind developmentally but she is amazing.
Anyway, just wanted to add a positive spin on having a large Nucal measurement. Good luck to all of you in your pregancies and especially to those having further tests.

MotherOfNations · 18/04/2013 23:10

Thanks so much Purplefan. I'm dreading a Turner's diagnosis but only because I've read that 99% of Turners babies don't survive the pregnancy. Is this really true?

Purplefan · 18/04/2013 23:23

MoN we were told that 95% of TS girls are miscarried in the 1st trimester. The statistics change somewhat after the 1st trimester but are still not great. Having said that, we decided that although statistics were stacking against us, if she was strong enough be in the 5% to survive the 1st trimester then we had to give her that chance and if she was stong enough to be in the world, then she would survive.

It is always tricky, but after that initial scan where we had so much fluid and were told "your baby is incompatible with life" Angry every scan showed the fluid reducing and then they kept a very close eye on her heart as heart problems are very common.

MotherOfNations · 18/04/2013 23:32

My consultant had been very positive. She was visibly shocked when I had a mad moment a couple of weeks ago and said I wanted to terminate without having a cvs or amnio. I'm not scared of having a baby with a disability. I'm scared of getting almost to term then having the baby die.

OrangeBlossom2 · 19/04/2013 07:07

Great to hear a positive story with big NT measurement Smile .

I told my head the children have started guessing and she has now told me to tell all staff, children and parents today rather than waiting until 16 weeks as she initially suggested. My secret will finally be out!

I still could get a call about downs risk after the combined test any time today which makes me a bit anxious about telling hundreds of people but I am just crossing my fingers that everything will be fine.

Nice to see some support for mon from someone in a similar situation :-)

Seeing the consultant today, the same lady as last pregnancy I saw her at 15+1 last time and she scanned me in her consulting room so I am hoping she's feeling generous today and will do the same again :-)

Is anyone scanning today? Xxx

Haylebop12 · 19/04/2013 07:51

Pay day was good today so I'm booking my gender scan! I'm 14+5 and can have it at 16wk. YAYYYYY!

Claphammama · 19/04/2013 09:44

how much does it cost girls? The sexing scan? Does anyone know London prices? And where do you book it? Still trying to decide how desperate I am to find out before my 20 weeks scan...

TheFalconsmistress · 19/04/2013 09:52

Claphammama I know its generally £80 but i got an offer for £37 I am doing it as DH is not going to make it to 20 week scan due to work xx

Mine is with babyscanning but i think they are just scotland you have Baby bond too they seem good I think they are in London xx

Haylebop12 · 19/04/2013 09:55

Mines £79 with baby bond and they have a room in my local mothercare.

Www.ultrasound-direct.com and you can look for one near you.

You also get a 4d freeview and dd will get her own pic in a frame saying sister/brother or something like that.

Haylebop12 · 19/04/2013 09:56

Had my early scan with them too and try are brill. Heard hb and answered any questions. The lady was really lovely and I didn't feel rushed like the NHS one.

Claphammama · 19/04/2013 10:01

thanks all! it's cheaper than I thought. Might book it then. How far gone do you have to be? I'm 13+3 today

Haylebop12 · 19/04/2013 10:07

16 weeks for gender one clap it tells you on the website what you can book when as you enter you due date.

TheFalconsmistress · 19/04/2013 10:10

I will be 17 weeks on Sunday so 16+6 tomorrow, I can't believe i am that far on time is flying by compared to the first trimester!

MotherOfNations · 19/04/2013 10:28

You've all been an amazing support. It seems mad but I couldn't have got this far and remained sane without you lovely bunch of strangers.

roofio87 · 19/04/2013 10:44

yes purplefan lovely positive story and sounds like you have a lovely little girl, what a fighter!!
hope everyones appointments and scans coming up are good. I'd love a sexing scan but not worth the money for me so will just have to wait the 4 weeks (would get one though if nhs one can't tell me gender, happened to someone at work last week, baby in bad position!!)
I think maybe, just maybe, I felt baby move this morning. I'm 16 weeks today so maybe, but maybe a bit early still. woke up and after moving about a bit felt a fluttery feeling in the right area!! hope its the start of movements!! Grin

Claphammama · 19/04/2013 11:04

so exciting *roofio"! I can't wait!

GTbaby · 19/04/2013 11:54

Orange is it policy in your school to tell parents? I don't know what it's like it primary...
I think I told my form (15/16 yr olds) at 20weeks , as I'd been off sick for a month and they were worried about what was wrong(no one knew I was preg during my sick leave). N then it filtered out to other kids.

I've messed up my downs scanning. I had my scan 2weeks ago. Then I didn't have time to wait for blood test so they told me come bk within a week. But I've had Food poisoning then really bad cold n puking Hmm. Need to call today n see what else I can do.

Natalieand · 19/04/2013 15:14

GTbaby In my area if for some reason u miss out on the NT around here they so bloods at 16 weeks and give u a risk factor for that so deffo worth enquiring about.

Saw the consultant today and she was so lovely and even gave me an extra little scan in her consulting room baby was facing the screen and she printed a pic as u could see its eye sockets lol couldn't see the sex baby was facing the wrong way around but it was nice to see the heart beating again :-)

U guys have inspired me and dh and I are googling to try find a good deal on sexing scans locally lol xx

Hope everyone is having a nice day x

roxvox · 19/04/2013 15:42

Re bloods for down's syndrome risk, I had bloods taken at my 12 week scan, and again at my 16 week appointment. They will compare the hormone levels in the 2 and then give me a risk factor based on that. The annoying thing is that I was told that if I don't get a call within a week then I am low risk... so a week of phone watching!
