Thanks for the speedy replies, yeah it does help - its pretty much what I thought the answer would be. In my head I'm trying to imagine how much I'll be out and about as I know outdoors is great however, in reality I think I'm seeing things through rose tinted glasses. :)

thethreeblondies · 17/04/2013 13:07

Slippy there is so much advice out there it can be overwhelming, they are only "newborn" for such a small amount of time I wouldn't worry too much about buying lots of things that u will only use for a small amount of time, I didn't go too far in the first few weeks with my first so not having a carrycot attachment on the pram wasn't too much of an issue. Our pushchair of choice lies flat and even if baby looks a bit lost and tiny in it I'd rather know it will last for years after, we will attach the car seat for quick school runs and shopping trips and ditto with using the sling if baby is awake, we have a moses basket at home so he/she will get plenty of lying flat time too (although knowing a newborn only till it wants feeding/changing/cuddling!)

BowlFullofJelly · 17/04/2013 13:17

Slippy - not sure this is helpful but my DS was never flat Blush. We didn't have a pram, just travel system, so he was always in the car seat when we were out and about. He also had silent reflux, which resulted in him not sleeping well when flat due to the discomfort, and the only way he would nap was in his car seat as he was sat up a bit more. He was definitely 'not flat' for more than two hours every day - and he is fine Smile - all straight, and all organs in place (as far we know!). I'm in no way suggesting to ignore health advice, but would also say that most of my preconceptions of what I would and wouldn't do went out of the window when he arrived, and I actually just went with my instinct and did anything possible to get him to sleep.

pinkbuttons · 17/04/2013 14:57

Back from scan and all is well Smile One very active baby in there. Sonographer was lovely and spent a long time trying to see gender before taking the measurements he needed. He said he couldnt be certain but its more likely to be a girl... he went through everything with us, but said wed have a better idea at the next scan, although he did then go on to refer to baby as she and her and told DH hes put money on it... roll on my 20 week scan on 16th May Grin

roxvox · 17/04/2013 15:14

Fantastic news pinkbuttons! Were you hoping for a girl or not fussed either way?

I've just got back from my 16w midwife appointment and I've heard my baby's heartbeat! So happy to have heard it! MW said it sounded healthy, and she also took some bloods and told me (re the reason why I didn't get the nuchal fold measurement taken) that they only do so in this area if the mother is over 35, otherwise they do the 2 blood tests. If I don't hear from them within the next week then I am low risk for Down's Syndrome.

So pleased to have heard a heart beat!

BowlFullofJelly · 17/04/2013 15:35

Congrats pink and roxvox. Hope I get to hear the heartbeat tomorrow - fingers crossed!

pink we are scan date buddies - mine is 9.45 on 16th - excited and nervous already. Think we will then book a well being scan around 30 weeks, as 20 weeks is too long to not see baby for!

pinkbuttons · 17/04/2013 16:28

Thank you roxvox and jelly Have always said I would like to have a girl although were hoping to have more children in the future so would have been happy either way with this one. Going to stick to my word though and not go buying pink yet he was only 80% sure at this point
jelly mine is at 9:55 so just after yours, will be nice to have less time to worry and hopefully they wont be running as late at that time of the morning!
Congrats on hearing the heartbeat roxvox interesting about nuchal scan in your area.

JellyCurls · 17/04/2013 16:52

Just back from midwife and got to hear a nice healthy 150bpm heart beat Grin next appointment is scan on 15th May at 10am so excited its starting to feel real now

Wickedgirl · 17/04/2013 17:24

I am so excited.......I can feel flutters!

I wasn't sure a few days ago but they are getting more frequent and "stronger". Grin

TheFalconsmistress · 17/04/2013 17:27

Congrats roxvox and jelly, pinkbuttons how far along are you my scan is on Sat will pretty much be 17 weeks, wondering if i will get reliable sexing? They say they can tell you 99.9% but wondering if its variable depending on how far along you are. My NHS MW says they dont give those odds till 26 weeks Confused.

MotherOfNations · 17/04/2013 17:36

I was meant to have a midwife appointment on the 15th but for some reason had it in my head that the appointment wasn't until the 19th. I only realised when a letter arrived this morning saying that I'd missed it and that it had been rearranged for the 22nd.
Maybe I should ask Dp to take the day off work and come with me. It might help it seem more real to him if we get to hear the heartbeat.

Shirehobbit · 17/04/2013 18:23

Exciting news with lots of appointments today! Grin

Out of curiosity, how many people aren't finding out the sex?

Very jealous, wickedgirl! Wink I'd love to feel some flutters. I've nicknamed this period the twilight zone; all the first trimester stuff has gone, but very few pregnancy signs remain (except huuuuge boobs and generally looking podgy!). I have to keep reminding myself this is all really happening...

Wickedgirl · 17/04/2013 18:37

I'm not finding out the sex

I did with my second as I had an amnio and I wanted something positive out of such a scary time.

My first and third were a surprise and I think it's nicer that way. I think this one might be a girl (but I'm probably wrong!)

Natalieand · 17/04/2013 18:45

I'm in week 14 and for week 13 I found my tiredness really subsided and their was light at the end of the tunnel but now again this week (week 14) I keep falling asleep sitting up again lol

Good news on the scans/appts today!

I too am very jealous wicked especially as I was told my placenta is anterior so will probly be a while before I am feeling movements :-(

Has everyone reached the 12 week mark now for the October thread? Xx

NotYoMomma · 17/04/2013 19:01

Hello all!

um as a bravissimo loyalty card holder who is already in the largest size (an I'm only a 14/16 normally!) I am terrified.

Last pregnancy I went from 32G to a 34J and they never went back down!

I have back problems so am actually contemplating asking for a breast reduction after these babies are done with! Thank goodness is my last!

Also: BMI/ water birth update....
I'VE NOW LOST 10lbs!

Water birth is a go!

Sanjifair · 17/04/2013 19:24

Roofio,

I am A- and had the anti-D last time. Was told it really hurt, but it wasn't that bad, I was expecting worse! It is in case your baby has a different blood type to you (my DS turned out to be AB +) and if for some reason your bloods mix then it can be dangerous.

We found out sex with DS, but are thinking of having a surprise this time. I do know someone who was told 'girl' at the 20 week scan, but when she had a later 3D scan the 'she' turned out to be a he! I think if they say boy it is pretty definite, but a girl is less certain.

Well done on the BMI Noyomamma

pinkbuttons · 17/04/2013 19:27

falcon Im 15+4, my sonographer was lovely and said at this stage he is normally able to tell if its a boy as there's something to look for am sure you will be fine at 17 weeks, as long as bean co operates Smile
Exciting for feeling movement wicked Im still not sure if what Im feeling is baby or not but I like to think it is.
notyomamma thats amazing! Well done! I'd also love to have a water birth so desperately hoping for no complications like high BP that I had last time.

OrangeBlossom2 · 17/04/2013 19:44

Congrats notyomama.

Umlauf I have gone from a 30B to a 28F or FF.Bravissimo said under wired are ok but the first day I wore my new one I felt my ribs were bruised so sticking to soft ones now.

We are finally back from my 12 week scan. They were rubbing late so we were there for 2 1/2 hours. I still have one very wriggly baby. Hooray! The sonographer found it hard to take measurements but persevered. NT was 2.4 which is higher than average but should be ok as I am youngish and don't smoke. Feeling a bit less anxious now, just got to wait a couple of days to hear if there are any problems. My scan pictures are blurry and two are of the back of the head as the baby kept flipping over. I am glad we got nice ones a couple of weeks ago when it was asleep. I have my notes and booking bloods to look through now and was very pleased to see the little thing again, particularly looking so alive this time! It has grown half as big again as it was two weeks ago and is now swallowing amniotic fluid as I could see the black stomach. The finger and jaw bones have also developed in the last fortnight.

OrangeBlossom2 · 17/04/2013 19:55

So I am now 13+3, EDD 20th October. The sonographer told me off a bit for booking scan so late and asked if I was late booking with GP. We called them at 3+5 and had an appointment with them the earliest they would allow at 5 weeks so definitely not my fault! I was a bit annoyed as I did ask for it to be earlier at booking after my private scan. I would have been more annoyed if it meant they couldn't measure anything but it was ok in the end.

My 20 week scan is at 21+2 on 11th June. The Sonographer recommended booking it at 19 weeks for someone my size but that was the first available. I think there must be a bit of a baby boom this Autumn.

OP posts:
Natalieand · 17/04/2013 20:03

Congrats orange when I booked my 20 week scan the receptionist said there is a huge baby boom on ATM and appts are scarse so I had to accept the first appt they gave me, I then tried to change it to earlier and the only appts they had were for 3 weeks after the one I had already booked! Mental lol xxx

OrangeBlossom2 · 17/04/2013 20:11

Looking at my blood results my lymphocytes and RBC are both low. I was told today that results would be discussed at 16 week scan but I might give the go or midwife a ring to see if it is ok before then. Anyone else have this?

OP posts:
OrangeBlossom2 · 17/04/2013 20:14

Appointment, not scan at 16 weeks.

HotSoupDumpling · 17/04/2013 20:25

Congrats on the good news everyone. Notyomamma, must be a relief to know you can have a water birth.

Natalieand · 17/04/2013 21:17

Does n e one know if u can use deep heat while pregnant? I tried dr google and it gave me a 100 different answers lol x

char1eston · 17/04/2013 21:38

Shire - we won't be finding out the sex. Didn't with dd either and we liked the surprise (both of us admitted later that we wanted a girl!).
Asked dd (1.10) what we should call the baby in mummy's tummy and she has named it fuffa (might keep it up until birth).
Got some clothes delivered from jojo's yesterday. Wore the leggings o work today and they were soooo comfy.
