Nooooo don't tell me I won't get boobs! My friend with massive jugs got even bigger than her normal G cup when pg. That's so unfair.

Purplemonster · 09/05/2013 10:52

Yep, it is unfair, it has disappointed me too! And it makes your bump look bigger without boobs to balance it out. Sorry, ask another that we can give you a cheery answer to! Grin

Alexandra6 · 09/05/2013 10:52

Speaking of crazy crying, there's an EDF advert where a little beige blobby thing travels around on a dog's back, all happy, with the 'together we are beautiful' song - anyway DH was laughing last night, saying it was like me and him with me travelling around all happy on him and him looking after me and I don't know what came over me but I cried and CRIED because I thought it was sweet?! An EDF energy ad for god's sake!!

Alexandra6 · 09/05/2013 10:54

Oh and purple can't believe I'm being cheated out of the bigger boobs promise! I think mine are going to kick and balloon up soon, come on boobs!

janey1234 · 09/05/2013 10:58

As hazle says, it annoyingly seems that if they're big they get bigger, if they're small they stay small. Gutting. I HATE my mahoosive boobs, I really truly do, especially as my nipples are now (TMI sorry) getting bigger and darker. Although it does mean I've only just broken the offside rule Wink with belly sticking out more than boobs. Still, I think that particular offside rule is cancelled throughout pregnancy, surely?

A few months ago Hazle and I were offering boob shares - the offer still stands if anyone is up for it?!

Alexandra6 · 09/05/2013 11:00

Me please!

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 11:18

Me me me! Stand out of the way of the particularly hormonal lady please or else!

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 11:19

Oh & alex I do think that there is something v cute about the EDF blob so I don't think you're a total fruit loop.

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 11:22

purple my bump is going to look huge whatever. I'm tall but a size 8 & never had a tummy in my life as I'm one of those annoying people who don't put on weight so it's going to so obvious. My friends can't wait to see me get fat. Esp if it is twins. Shock

Alexandra6 · 09/05/2013 11:27

I'm looking forward to a huge, big bump! I'm pushing mine out to show people already! I've always had a flat stomach too so am noticing mine already. Bet it's not as much fun post birth when you're trying to lose the weight but I won't even think about that until after the birth. Which is just before christmas, perfect timing for being healthy! Wink

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 11:41

I'm already eyeing up my wardrobe & earmarking things that there will be no way in hell I'll be able to get on in a few months (e.g. super skinny jeans) & what I will be able to wear! Went into ELC/Mothercare yesterday to buy presents for friend's 3 year old & newborn & was looking at maternity stuff & thinking if was mostly awful. Do they think that women don't work for the whole 9 months? I have to be smart for work & can't wear tunics & leggings!

Alexandra6 · 09/05/2013 11:43

Can you get away with nice maxi dresses and a jacket?

Purplemonster · 09/05/2013 11:49

I'm only 5ft tall and a former size 8/10
I don't 'have' a bump so much as I AM a bump with legs. I borrowed some maternity clothes about three weeks ago from a friend, tried them on, washed them, tried to wear one of the blouses this morning and I've already grown out of them and couldn't do the buttons up! No wonder my poor back is aching. Even OH who really should know better said 'bloody hell babe, you've BALLOONED this week' Hmm

Unfortunately, you've got to go through the podgy stage first where you haven't got a proper bump you just look like you've overindulged. I think most of us found we didn't have a proper bump or look obviously pregnant until 20 weeks or so so you've got a bit of a wait yet!

The weight afterwards is just going to fall off though right? and we're all going to magically 'ping' back to how we were before but with bigger boobs

Is it just me that thinks that EDF blob looks like a strange coloured poo then?

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 11:51

Dresses & jackets but probably not maxi dresses. It will be winter by the time I'm mahoosive anyway (Fertility Friend predicts DD as 13 Jan). I'm client facing some of the time in quite a conservative industry. I think I saw a maternity clothing thread on here so will take a look when that time comes & probably do a bit of ebay searching to save a bit of cash.

HazleNutt · 09/05/2013 11:58

frog I've been complaining about the lack of office wear here several times - I don't want to look like a flowery tent, thanks very much.
Have some trousers from GAP and if you have friends in the US, Motherhood Maternity and Pea in the Pod do nice office trousers and skirts (they deliver to UK too, but the postage was ridiculous, so easier to ask some friends to ship the stuff over).

Otherwise I've just been buying normal stretchy ruched dresses and tops in a bigger size, better selection and prices than maternity wear.

janey1234 · 09/05/2013 11:58

Grin purpleat the EDF poo! alex - bet you didn't realise that's what your DH was comparing you to!

frog - ebay is great for maternity clothes (but not cheap I've found - which means I'm planning to sell on some of my stuff). And ASOS is OK, although not smart. If you ever did need a posh frock though keep an eye out on ebay for tiffany rose dresses, I'm 5'11 and have just got a maxi dress from them for a wedding on Saturday and it's the perfect length on me (with flats). The price was unbelievably high, but hoping to sell on ebay next week and recoup a lot of the cost - decided that hopefully it would end up costing the same as an ASOS outfit that I would also only wear once.

Alexandra6 · 09/05/2013 12:12

I also saw a smart maternity dress in debenhams maternity, was about £35, forgotten what they're called (baby brain) but you know the quite fitted office style dresses? Oh and one of my clients always wears the same lovely black maternity wrap dress to meetings, I think you can get away with lots of repeat wear when preggers!

Had no idea DH was calling me a poo!

Cavort · 09/05/2013 12:32

You might be surprised at how long you're in non-maternity clothes. At 33 weeks I am wearing one of my normal work dresses today, although it is stretchy. I was in my normal jeans and trousers past 20 weeks and still fit in some now with the help of a belt extender and/or bump band. Lots of non-Mat stretchy tops and jumpers still fit me now. Admittedly my bump is reasonably compact (pics on profile) but you shouldn't necessarily assume you will balloon.

Alexandra6 · 09/05/2013 12:36

cavort have you been exercising while pregnant? Very neat bump and you don't seem to have put on weight anywhere else? Although I do think a lot of it is genetics and that particular pregnancy, but just wondered?

janey1234 · 09/05/2013 12:37

Still so Envy of you over that cavort.

I looked very porky from 12 weeks plus. Properly properly showing by 20 weeks when it suddenly went from looking fat to looking preggers. Unfortunately though I was out of most of my normal tops before 12 weeks, due to my boobs ballooning.

HazleNutt · 09/05/2013 12:59

You look ridiculously slim cavort Envy

I dind't get along with the extenders - maybe under something floaty or bulky, but I mostly wear stretchy tops and the extender and open trouser button would simply show through.

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 13:01

Ok thanks everyone. Hopefully I'll follow the genetics of my mother who in old photos I've seen of her pg looks like a stick with a balloon up her top. Oh & I'm not as tall as you janey only 5'8"! Luckily I don't have any weddings to go to this year (for the first time in about 10 years!) & I have a big work summer party but that's at just over 12wks so I should still fit in my normal clothes then. (But I will have had my scan so can explain why I am driving -phew!!). And at Xmas & NYE I'll be so past caring by that point that will be wearing a tent!

Just came back from a leg & bikini wax & eyebrow threading. Am I imagining this or was it way more painful than normal? Can't decide if it's just psychological as I'd read something once about it hurting more when pg. Googling post-event suggests it could have been.

BraveLilBear · 09/05/2013 13:02

Fear not! I am a small boober with extension Grin Hurt nonstop from 5 weeks until probably 24 or so (and still get the odd twinge) but the benefit is clear to see... even my younger sister pointed it out at a family gathering. They're bigger, rounder and fuller... and heavier. Which means that they aren't the beautifully pert things of beauty they once were, mind Sad

Oddest thing I've cried at in the last week? DP was doing some strimming in the back garden and accidentally flicked a small pebble into my leg. Five minutes later

Purplemonster · 09/05/2013 13:06

It's so unfair, I think I got a share of Cavort's bump as well as my own, I knew I was likely to be big because my short torso means the baby has got nowhere to go but out but really! I can't fit in most of my maternity clothes any more let alone normal ones and I've not put tons of weight on, I'm just big bumped! It's getting to the point where I've only got another 5 or so weeks left at work but I'm starting to worry what I'm actually going to wear. Trousers are fine but tops are proving to be an issue.

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 13:13

Yay for formerly small-boobed brave. i have hope yet.

DP just sent me a text to say that he has done a few jobs round the house I've been nagging him to do so has redeemed himself slightly from the Quorn eating incident. Unfortunately he then just sent another one to tell me something bad he'd done which started "don't cry but...". He has no idea of what to expect does he ladies?!!
