Welcome back oh graduated elderberries. Let us discuss the delights of being over-30 first-timers with google obsessions Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HazleNutt · 25/04/2013 10:07

I have one of those big breastfeeding pillows (got it from a friend) and it does help. Nothing fancy, similar to this:
www.amazon.co.uk/Original-THERALINE-incl-little-flowers/dp/B0030UHCWG/ref=sr_1_44?ie=UTF8&qid=1366880660&sr=8-44&keywords=maternity+pillow

Turning is getting quite uncomfortable - I usually first just lay there and think if changing sides is really worth the effort. Grin And I still have 2 months to go!

Cavort · 25/04/2013 10:28

I would say my hair is pretty much the same, although I have fine hair but lots of it as well so I'm glad it's not getting thicker. Both my hair and nails are growing mega fast though!

A friend from work suffers with alopecia and her natural hair is so patchy she is forced to wear a wig to avoid stares. During her last pregnancy all her hair grew back so she didn't need the wig and then it fell out again when the baby was about 6 months. Hormones are strange Confused

Janey I sleep with a v-shaped pillow. One end under my head and the other end under the bump for support, which I think works pretty well. I've currently got another pillow between my knees though to try to ease the SPD, which is generally on the floor by the time I wake up.

Purplemonster · 25/04/2013 10:36

Ah yes the 8 point manoeuvre just to roll over in bed, just another joy! My hair is definitely less greasy than normal but was already very thick so I don't think that has really changed.

HazleNutt · 25/04/2013 11:34

I need the pillow between my legs and then under the bump - I tend to roll over to my stomach otherwise - well, as much as that's possible at this stage - and baby respons to being squashed with furious kicking, waking me up.

DH usually comes to my Bodypump classes on Thursdays, today he suggested that I should really go down with the weights I'm using. I'm not sure though if he is actually concerned about me or the fact that I still lift more than him Grin

janey1234 · 25/04/2013 11:46

Yes, that was the problem last night. Kept rolling over, kept getting kicked. Vaguely annoying, but actually pretty cute.

Hilarious re your DH Hazle! And can't believe you're still doing bodypump. Lordy, I couldn't be bothered to go up one more flight of stairs last night to see what the builders had done in the loft!

Cavort · 25/04/2013 14:24

DH said I was thrashing around and grumbling in bed all night last night, which I don't remember at all, but I guess the quality of sleep I'm now getting is rubbish Sad I am sat waiting in Kwik Fit and struggling to stay awake... the next 9ish weeks are going to be looong!

HazleNutt · 25/04/2013 14:32

By the way, talking about sleeping, are you able to wake your babies up if you want to? I always read all those recommendations to change positions, poke and prod them, drink cold water etc - mine couldn't care less. If he sleeps he sleeps.
Must take after DH - I asks how i slept and I tell him that oh, the dogs were barking like nuts, so I let them out and then the cat pushed all kinds of stuff off the nighstands with almighty crash - he didn't hear a thing.

janey1234 · 25/04/2013 14:43

Not really, no. He/she seems to wake up quite often when I eat, but I've had a couple of worried days when food/sweets/fizzy drinks haven't stirred them. Prodding and poking haven't worked once. I usually sleep bloody well, and so does DP. Vaguely worried we'll both sleep through the baby crying, as usually once we're asleep nothing wakes us!

janey1234 · 25/04/2013 14:45

Oh and cavort - agreed. Ten and a half weeks to go - I'm really, really hoping it doesn't go as slowly as the first trimester... Sad

HazleNutt · 25/04/2013 14:47

Oh I wouldn't worry - apparently baby crying is a sound like no other:

Alexandra6 · 25/04/2013 15:00

First trimester lasts a million years!! Smile

Yeah I don't think it's possible to sleep through a crying baby! (kind of hoping DH can though as he'll still be going to work every day!)

janey1234 · 25/04/2013 15:08

My cousin managed it. I went to stay with her when her daughter was about 8 months old, and she was very proudly telling me that her daughter had been sleeping through, without stirring, since about 3 months. Anyway, I shared a room with her daughter that night, who woke me approximately every 45mins whining and crying. At one point she was properly, properly crying, and eventually I got up and comforted her. Anyway the next morning, I apologised for getting up to help her - in case she was doing controlled crying or something. Turns out she hadn't heard a peep. Not a thing. All night. Thought she'd slept through, as "usual". Really made us laugh that she didn't have a brilliantly behaved baby after all, but instead the baby had a Mum who sleeps very well, and is a bit deaf.

My hearing isn't great, so I'm hoping I'll be the same Wink

Cavort · 25/04/2013 15:43

Mine doesn't seem to respond to prodding and poking but a sugar rush usually wakes her. When I have a whole bag of Haribo a fresh fruit smoothie it feels like she's somersaulting in there afterwards. Grin

My DH is a much lighter sleeper than me so he's worried that the baby will wake him before me and he'll end up awake all night and knackered all day at work. I've tried to reassure him that hopefully that won't be the case, especially if I manage to EBF as planned then he won't be much use to baby in the night and he'll just have to give me a boot in the back nudge if I'm still asleep. He's lucky though because if he wakes in the night he can just go back to sleep instantly whereas it takes me ages to get back to sleep.

HazleNutt · 25/04/2013 15:47

I'm, as said, the lighter sleeper and also the one going back to work. Our only hope is to get one of those miracle babies that sleeps through the night from 3 months onwards..

Cavort · 25/04/2013 15:57

With the way your perfect pregnancy is going Hazle, I think you are lucky enough to get one of those really rare perfect babies Envy

HazleNutt · 25/04/2013 16:00

Nah, I can't have all the luck. I'll be punished with a baby like my niece, who finally started to sleep through when she was about 4.

Years.

Cavort · 25/04/2013 16:27

4 years??? Well, I suppose once baby is here you can't exactly say you've changed your mind because it is a terrible sleeper, you're just stuck with it. Hmm

Has anyone seen this site where you can see what your baby might look like?

I have just done ours and uploaded my picture to my gallery. I have no idea why mine seems to be wearing a turban and sari though? Grin I will see how the real thing compares in 9 or so weeks.

janey1234 · 25/04/2013 16:42

Absolutely pissing myself about your baby wearing a turban cavort, honestly, an am embarrassment at my desk. Has properly tickled me!
Cute though Smile

Presuming you're going to choose a sari for that all-important going home outfit? Wink

Cavort · 25/04/2013 16:47

Funny you should say that Janey as I have obviously already bought a large assortment of traditional Indian dress for her. And not forgetting the jewelry she seems to be wearing Confused

janey1234 · 25/04/2013 16:53

OMG, I've just tried it. Quite nice pics of me and DP, yet horrendous offspring. WHAT HAVE WE DONE?! Wink

Here's hoping it's a boy, not some hippy, pierced little girl... Confused

janey1234 · 25/04/2013 16:54

ps uploaded to profile so you can all look, laugh, and thank your lucky stars that you're not having a baby as ugly as mine Wink

Cavort · 25/04/2013 17:01

Grin I think your offspring look fine Janey. At least yours don't appear to have confusion over their race Grin

Alexandra6 · 25/04/2013 17:02

Try mine!! Wink Really hope this site is a load of crap haha!

janey1234 · 25/04/2013 17:07

alex - your child is as bad as your cat Wink

Am hoping the site is shite. Have sent a link to a colleague and asked him to put pics of him and his wife in - then we're going to compare to his 6 month old baby. God, if it looks like his daughter, I'm going to be really depressed....

Cavort · 25/04/2013 17:10

Alex yours has got a hint of Paris Hilton going on there with the jaw Grin

I tried it again and managed to get a more realistic one which seems to have DH's hair (if he didn't keep it short).
