OneLittle - they've been great at the gym, it's mostly been people who don't really exercise passing comment. I'm sure they'll be more people who say things too once more people find out.

I need to be more careful with food too, had Camembert at the weekend but it was very well cooked.

TiredFeet · 03/04/2013 14:35

honey Sad I can see why you would feel very upset with him, but maybe don't rush into any decision right now as it is such an emotional time for everyone.

Its so hard remembering everything you can't have to eat! Think I need to go read the list again. I managed most of the time last time but with the occasional slip up/ giving in to temptation. All I feel like eating at the moment is crisps though!

MissTweed · 03/04/2013 14:36

Afternoon ladies..... I've just woken up with bleary eyes post night shift..... Can someone please quickly recap on why you can't eat salad??? I had a Quick back scan and can't find where it started. TIA Smile

OneLittleToddleTerror · 03/04/2013 14:41

MissTweed you can't eat unwashed fruits or salads because soil can give you toxoplasmosis (I think it's toxoplasmosis). You can eat all the salads you like at home because you know you have wash it well. But there is no guarantee in a pub.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 03/04/2013 14:52

To all the first time mums, here's a list of food to avoid (or eat with risk understood) from the NHS
www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/foods-to-avoid-pregnant.aspx

I didn't know about any of this first time round. I didn't even take folic acid Blush. But we has a fantastic early pregnancy class in my area that went through this. I think some of you might not have this in your area, or haven't even seen a midwife/GP. So hopefully it's useful to some.

berrybomb · 03/04/2013 15:34

And now I can't stop thinking about caesar salad either! Weirdly I fancied an M&S chicken caesar wrap for lunch yesterday, but they'd run out. The food shop tonight will include caesar salad ingredients!

Saundy · 03/04/2013 16:10

Harv it's a good job you've gone off smoked salmon as my midwife told me today that its on the no list, with runny eggs & prawns!! Oh the injustice. Good news is the caesar sauce is fine as its processed & not made fresh so go for it (if it was a sauce issue).

I want a rare steak so bad.

BF I have to second the sewing machine vote. I bought one & gave myself a baptism of fire by making a pair of blackout lined curtains my first project pretty much nailed it. If I can make them you can defo hem some trousers!

Don't rush yourself Honey make sure you take all the time you need to figure out how you feel. It's good that he's sorry & it's your choice now.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 03/04/2013 16:16

Saundy the NHS page I linked says prawns are ok if they are cooked through until steaming hot. I think it's another one of those eat only if you look it yourself list. I think the danger with eating out is they are very likely to be slightly undercooked, like scallops and steaks.

Saundy · 03/04/2013 16:28

She was defo on the cautious side, was trying to put me off chicken! That's like my staple!!

Diege · 03/04/2013 16:51

Hi! Back from harmony test at FMC. Bloods taken and had a scan too - all fine and dr 80% sure it's a girl!!! They've classed me at 11 weeks today, slightly further ahead AGAIN!. I am feeling a bit of a fraud being on Nov thread now Blush Re: the sex, they look at the 'angles' of the (non-existent) genitalia and make a guess, but don't bother asking if you're having an NHS scan as they don't look at 12 wks Grin It's something the researchers at the centre have been studying and not widely done. Just glad for the reassuring scan, and fingers crossed all will be well at 12 weeks when I have the nuchal.
Oh and saundy/haverina smoked salmon is absolutely fine - the smoking process destroys the parasites that are the cause of any possible problems (from NHS website). My mum managed to put me off smoked salmon when I was tucking in by saying it looked like I was eating a goldfish sandwich... Can only eat now if chopped finely into scrambled egg..

louby86 · 03/04/2013 17:07

Glad everything went well Diege!

We were told at 20 weeks we were having a girl! Thank goodness for the 4d scan later on that told us it was really a boy! After the labour I had I don't think I could have coped with finding out that day Grin

Saundy · 03/04/2013 17:09

Woo Diege a girl that's fab - fix you have a preference?! I heard today that big boob increase in pregnancy = a girl, so is that true for you?! Mine still haven't shifted but I am wanting a girl!! Is it bad to say that? I would still love a boy obvs!

Saundy · 03/04/2013 17:10

Fix = did

OneLittleToddleTerror · 03/04/2013 17:15

No it's not bad to say it because I want a girl too! It's only bad if we are going to treat a girl like a princess and a boy like a slave, like in some cultures sadly. (Obviously the other way round as I can't think of one the prefers girls over boys).

Diege · 03/04/2013 17:19

Re: the sex I really don't mind either way as have 3 dds and 2dss already...have always thought another girl would be nice though as think dd3 especially would love it,dd1 and 2 being so close (15mths age difference).
Re: the boobs yes they have got a lot bigger actually! (not hard starting from a AA cup...I'd say a generous C cup now..) Having said that they did with the ds's too!

Theicingontop · 03/04/2013 17:20

I've been rather distracted and busy! I will catch up and post Grin

Animol · 03/04/2013 17:30

Saw my LO at the docs this morning - 1.75cm - he said it was spot on for 8weeks - he said he could see the heart beating but I couldn't really.

I'd love a boy but I'd really really love another girl - would love my dd to have a sister - she's already got 3 brothers! We'll take what comes. My boobs are getting bigger - could be a good sign!

honey86 · 03/04/2013 17:41

id like another girl, think that wud complete my family x

OP posts:
Saundy · 03/04/2013 17:49

A few in the girl camp then - but I'm not going to find out!!

Fairydogmother · 03/04/2013 17:50

I've read that medium to well steak is grand as long as its really hot all the way through. Same with prawns etc. I've happily been eating salads at our local cafe but sadly they make their own mayo so can't have that! You can def still have Stilton too as its a semi hard cheese. Goats cheese is also fine as long as its the one without the rind and is pasteurised.

Think you can go seriously mad on not eating stuff tho - one small amount isn't likely to kill you!

Dinner is stuffed peppers and couscous tonight tho not very hungry as I've just eaten 2 walnut whips Shock

Dreamstoreality · 03/04/2013 17:53

Back from my scan and not reassured at all. By my dates I should be 8 + 4 but on the scan all they could see was the pregnancy sack and no baby. They have said I might just not as far along as I thought and that Im only about 6 weeks hence the baby will be too small to see. But I know when we dtd and I can't be 6 weeks.

Now have a 2 week wait for another scan to see whether its grown by then or not.

firsttimemummyy · 03/04/2013 17:54

It's funny I was so convinced I wanted a girl (I even did the whole girl diet thing (eating a lot of yoghurt and no salt -DH thought I was bonkers!- and timing DTD 3/4 days before ovulation) but now I'm pregnant I find I hand on heart don't mind either way, which I didn't think I'd feel! I think I'd just like a girl at some point as I'm really close to my mum and I'd like to have that relationship with a daughter, but I also find the thought of a little boy really lovely too.

Also I didn't realise you can find out the sex so early, that's amazing!

honey86 · 03/04/2013 17:56

omg i love stuffedpeppers Smile aint had them for aages x

I'm so impressed I had to share.....

M&S long sleeve maternity tops reduced to £5. Bought one online (collected from small m&s food hall which I live near for free) and it is brilliant! Washed well and is lined at the bust area!! These are fab, I'm going to order some more.

Unlike the pack of 3 new look t's. I'm normally a size 10 top (12 now my boobs have grown) and I had to buy size 14. Washed at 40* and they have shrunk so much!! Taking them back. Tempted to replace them with a size 18 to allow for the shrinkage.
