Do I have to be on the laptop to see profiles?? I'm guessing a phone is no good for this?

JammyTummy · 01/04/2013 19:00

frog I'm the same, that's why I insisted on getting a dresser/ chest of drawers/ changing unit thing as soon as the news was out! I knew I'd want to pick up bits and pieces and didn't want them just sat about the floor.
Also, when is your Harmony test? Are you all ready for it?

The little lady in my belly just gave me a little kick {swoon} [busmile]- my heart literally melts every time I feel it! if I knew it would make me so happy I would've got knocked up ages ago

ION I drank about half a bottle of prune juice earlier (was starting to get quite uncomfortable) and chased it up with a Starbucks black coffee, and now there are some serious bubbles going around in my stomach! I feel

JammyTummy · 01/04/2013 19:00

It may all kick off shortly!

frogchops · 01/04/2013 19:13

Harmony is tomorrow..,, I'm feeling positive about it and can't wait to see the little one again. We are going to ask about the sex tomoro too but I don't know if they will tell...can they tell at 15+ 4??

CharlW1 · 01/04/2013 19:21

Good luck for tomorrow Frog.

I'm of the I've put on lots of weight variety- I am eating healthy though so not too worried and there's always swimming world after the birth Hmm

CharlW1 · 01/04/2013 19:21

slimming even!

JammyTummy · 01/04/2013 19:21

I think most scans tell you from 16 weeks, so give or take a few days it might be ok?

LexyMa · 01/04/2013 19:30

Dorita here you are

I haven't weighed myself recently and wasn't weighed at the 16w appt so I have no idea what I have gained. My appetite fell away after the first trimester so (and unlike when DC1 was on the way when I had the luxury of actually choosing and thinking about a balanced diet) I am now just picking at whatever strikes me as stomach-able when I am peckish or even not peckish but think it is about time I should feed. I am definitely a different shape though, started wearing mat clothes this week but have a couple of bigger sized trousers I can also still wear and a few of my normal tops/dresses are big enough to get away with.

Must go and find out about Pilates this week, seriously. I managed to disable myself yesterday after not very much time at all gardening. All I was doing was sitting/kneeling to plant bulbs and then I lifted a half a bag of compost to spread over a bed and almost straight away my back was complaining. I just have no core strength whatsoever. Spent the rest of the afternoon in bed with a hot water bottle moaning that I couldn't take ibuprofen (but I did use some ibuleve type gel which I read is ok).

Good luck with harmony tomorrow frog, and happy kicks everyone (still rarely feeling anything convincing here [buenvy] )

I'd much rather go to swimming world!! I hope being as its a private clinic they won't not tell us and secretly want us to pay for a sexing scan...

Readytosettle · 01/04/2013 19:59

Hi ladies,

I'm back from the conference and cold seems to slowly be getting better. I also got out in the garden yesterday & completely knackered myself out in the space of about an hour just planting bulbs/potatoes & doing a little weeding. Ended up collapsed on the sofa for the rest of the afternoon!

juniper I can't see the nub on your pic so I think ur going to have to wait til the next scan...

I also went to see the MIL today & she is in the process of knitting the most beautiful baby blanket ever! I picked out the wool, but she's worked put the pattern & I absolutely love it :-).

We cleared out the spare room on sat so I now have space for all the new purchases. Off to the baby show at bluewater on the 20th so hoping to make a start their.

Bump is most definitely looking baby like now...having a nightmare finding work maternity wear tho. I normally wear shift dresses & stilettos so am worried that people will think I've let things go if I end up too casual. There's just so little to choose from- and it almost all seems to be black! Which is fine, but surely one black dress is enough...how do you vary it beyond that?

frogchops · 01/04/2013 20:31

Ditzy first time mommy message here....have seen this on amazon and thought it quite good value..... But am planning on breast feeding, (and expressing so obviously will be buying bottles too...) but I'm confused as to wether this is an unnecessary purchase for someone who plans to breast feed?? Don't ask me why, I just got the feeling, and I need 2/3rd time mummies to advise!

frogchops · 01/04/2013 20:32

Doohhh, here's the link, fx it works! www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-Closer-Complete-Starter/dp/B004GCJF9U

frogchops · 01/04/2013 20:32

I'm guessing it didn't work....brb when I've figured links out!

flipflump · 01/04/2013 21:10

Frog, I've bought steriliser and 6 bottles from Tesco, as they were on offer. I want to breast feed too but have seen a few family members and friends struggle. My plan was to have emergency back up incase I just can't do it. If I do end up using bottles, I'll add to the collection. That's a great kit but maybe a bit too much if you plan to breast feed. I'm sure I read you shouldn't express until you are well established as each time you feed/express it encourages more milk production. Maybe you could go for bottles, steriliser and a breast pump? I'm sure thats all you'll need if you plan to do a bit of both. I'm sure someone that knows what they are talking about will be along to offer advice. Grin

frogchops · 01/04/2013 21:22

Thanks flip this is brill as I have no idea what I'm talking about!! Will have a look at tesco now too...

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 01/04/2013 21:27

If you're planning on breastfeeding I'd maybe just get those ready mixed bottles that come with teats in case of emergency? I breastfed last time and didn't give a bottle until he was maybe three or four months. I'd not bother with a pump or anything initially though, unless you're miles from a supermarket? See how it goes first.

frogchops · 01/04/2013 21:27

See now I'm confused about electric steam, micro, cold water, sterilisers, oh I'm no good at this, I need someone to just tell me what to do. I underestimated this first time mum business!!

jennimoo · 01/04/2013 21:29

IME steriliser, pump and a bottle would be enough. DD was a bottle refuser so ended up with one each of every bottle on the market, only for her to drink from cups when I went back to work. If say a pump is s good bet as likely you'll need to reduce the pressure at some point or store some away. However, I spent ages pumping in the first few months for DZd to just refuse it. I discovered later I probably have some enzyme in my milk which means it keeps for hours not days and freezing turns it instantly to yucky tasting, so it all ended up being thrown away :( in the end at work I had to pump had dump too. Don't know how common this is but made me think there might be better things to do than pump, like may be sleep ;)

Sorry, was longer than expected, basically don't buy much, it's easy to get stuff when you need it.

Creamtea1 · 01/04/2013 21:30

frog I ordered that on Thursday :) its a bargain, and I signed up to amazon family and got an extra £10 off - the same set is £99 in Argos and asda.
As a 3rd timer I can say it will be useful even if you BF - as if you want to express you will need bottles (and steriliser) so others can feed - as well as a pump obviously. And there's a lot of handy extras with that set - the steriliser itself is £30 plus 5 bottles are about £15 so if you get the tenner off you're getting a lot for your £44.

jennimoo · 01/04/2013 21:32

I found an extricating steriliser easier, but a pack of Milton tablets would do the job if its just as a backup. I found the microwave one confusing, as you have to do stuff. Electric one was press button and its done when it beeps!

jennimoo · 01/04/2013 21:34

Electric even... I hope you didn't get confused thinking there was another type you'd not heard of ;)

Think I need to go to sleep now, typing getting worse and worse!

Creamtea1 · 01/04/2013 21:35

Oh and forget a microwave steriliser, they're cheaper but rubbish - the electric ones are much better and easier to use.

So agree with everyone else in that if you bf you don't need much kit, but the thing here is if you're going to spend £40 on steriliser, bottles etc you may as well get the set with effectively free extras, if you see what I mean.

weebarra · 01/04/2013 21:37

I breastfed DS1 for only 6 weeks but DS2 til he was over 2 - he was always happy to take a bottle though. A friend who is a paediatric dietician and who also had a 32-weeker who was in SCBU for a couple of months recommends NUK bottles and I always found them fine. I had a medela electric pump which I got on ok with and a steam steriliser which I would recommend.
I will need to buy new bottles and steriliser for this baby though - because this was an "unexpected" pregnancy I got rid of everything...

frogchops · 01/04/2013 21:37

I've been given a pump by a family member....she said she didn't like it after using once....altho am still a bit funny about it being someone else's. so I'm thinking if I get steriliser and bottles it might still come to the same cost as this pack?? ESP if I do the amazon family thing £45 is a bargain. Still open to 'chill out frog its unecessary' comments though!! Wink
