here we all are... hoping for nice clear 20w. scans, not too much inadvertent weeing and getting that 'glow'...

Hmmm, I seem to have a 24 week appointment (on 24+6) although I am a second timer. I will try to remember to get the MATB1 form then, which is just in time to send HR notification to work, although they say it's ok for the MATB1 form to follow if you haven't yet got it, and it's only a problem if you still haven't provided it after the birth when you're expecting pay from them...!

Some of your NHS classes sound pretty poor. We get four tuesday mornings and partners encouraged to come too.
One is early labour and knowing when things are starting
Two is labouring and birth in hospital / mw led birth centre (home birth people get a separate session)
Three is breast feeding
and Four is 'first days/weeks at home with baby'

I think if I had classes like some of you seem to have been offered i'd be going NCT too!!

SGJ · 12/04/2013 14:11

Finally back home now after a lovely scan and then a somewhat mental morning at a packed indoor play centre... lots of mothers looking knackered and glad school starts again next week!
Scan was great, the sonographer was really thorough and told us all about everything she was looking at, got a great look at the face especially which looks very cute, even in the weird fuzzy black and white! DD enjoyed it, though I think she was expecting more of a show - the poor baby was asleep and just wanted to shy away from the whole thing! Cue lots of prodding to get good pictures. All good overall, measurements were all practically on the mid-level, which suggests my current bloaty size is purely due to carb-loading and needing a big poo.

Wincher · 12/04/2013 14:37

I have just emailed HR to notify them I'm pregnant - thought I'd better since my boss has been in touch to sort out my mat cover! I don't see my MW again to get the MATB1 till 28 weeks, so am hoping it will be OK to send it in then.

I did NHS classes last time round which sound a very similar format to badguider's, only I missed the last one because I'd already had the baby! I remember in the BFing class the midwife running it was asked how long you should carry on BFing for, and she said she thought it was a bit weird to BF past a year. That makes me so cross now to think back!

fl0b0t · 12/04/2013 14:38

SGJ congrats on the good scan! Got a few weeks to wait here!
frog did you say your MW prodded your "yummy"? Great typo! :-)

I have decided not to do NCT. We are by no means strapped for cash, but I can't help but see it as yet another cost. I can't believe how much money people spend on having babies (new everything (including £900 prams!!), £250 NCT classes etc) and I'm just not like that in my normal life and definitely won't be like that with baby! NHS, current friends-with-babies and any other yoga etc classes I can get onto will have to suffice. I've read a lot too, so I'm hoping that will help.

Had a worrying thing happen today. I was wrestling a bit with DD trying to get her to take her inhaler, when I got this awful twisting pain below and to the side of my belly button, right deep inside my tum. The spasm lasted about 30 secs or so and really doubled me over and brought tears to my eyes. Then faded to an achy heavy feeling.

Got hold of my gp (which is the system here if you are less than 20 weeks and can't contact your midwife). And after a thorough MOT it turns out I have just pulled a muscle Blush Blush

Also got to hear heart beat for the first time (they didn't do it at 16 week appointment), which was 160\170 BPM. Which puts me firmly in girl territory doesn't it? Grin

JammyTummy · 12/04/2013 15:01

Oh no now it's my turn with the stabbing pain in the fanjo! Too late to call doctor now so going to wait till Monday then see how it is. Owie Sad

JammyTummy · 12/04/2013 15:05

Do you think it's a UTI? There is no burn or anything of the sort, just that needle type pain, kind of in the left part of my inside lady parts.

frogchops · 12/04/2013 16:01

Exactly like I had jammy...am taking a weeks worth of antibiotics at the mo. they've sent my wee off today to test. In suspicious of thrush too tho!

ION.... My harmony test came back clear!! 0.01% downs which is less than 1:10,000 and turners and pataus looked clear too! SmileSmileSmile Expensive but money so well spent!!

EmmaDee · 12/04/2013 16:19

That's brilliant news frog!

I wanted to ask about bump sizes, I'm 16 + 5 today and I still look like I've eating loads of pies!

I've been off today and yesterday cause I felt quiet sick, so I've spent today lookingup stuff on google, and have succeeded in scaring the hell out off myself!!

weebarra · 12/04/2013 16:40

Great news frog, was wondering if you'd heard back yet
Re antenatal classes, I did NCT and NHS with DS1. I really don't remember very much about the NHS one - we didn't get a tour of labour ward as our local hospital doesn't allow them, I don't think we had a dedicated breastfeeding class either, and MN was much more useful in terms of answering my questions.
NCT was ok, a bit anti-intervention etc (one of the dads in the group was an anaesthetist and had to bite his lip at some points) but more useful and I'm still in touch with a few of the girls 5 years on.

nerual · 12/04/2013 16:44

congrats frog, really great news :)

fl0b0t · 12/04/2013 16:53

Good stuff frog

triple- I've had the odd pain like that- when coughing if half sitting.half lying down- i.e in bed or slouching on the sofa. Tears to the eyes stabby pains, but mine have always gone after about 30 seconds. Scary eh? :-S

emma We're all different. People keep commenting on how big my bump is for 17+3 (probably accentuated by maternity clothes), so I woudlnt' worry!

JammyTummy · 12/04/2013 17:40

Yay frog that is great news!

My pain has now developed into occasional stabby pains through my stomach too. Don't really know what to think? It doesn't feel like a muscular cramp type pain, which would've made me feel much better!

jennimoo · 12/04/2013 18:45

Glad to hear those results frog, must be a relief!

My bump is pretty massive at 20 +4 but I do tend to wear stuff to make sure it's bump like rather than just a massive belly! I don't mind people saying I'm looking big, it's anyone telling me what to do that drives me mad. That's things like people at work saying 'don't lift that' etc... I have a 2 year old at home!

KamikazeeKid · 12/04/2013 19:34

Wonderful news frog! What a relief!!

Readytosettle · 12/04/2013 19:49

Glad it set your mind at rest frog

PurplePoppySeed · 12/04/2013 20:37

Yey congratulations frog

Dorita75 · 12/04/2013 20:41

Ah, brilliant news frog!

Also still getting the odd stabby pain in pubic region, like someone's poked me with a knitting needle! It's not an 'inside' feeling at all, very much like someone's poking me from the outside, weird.

Kittenkatzen · 12/04/2013 21:31

Fab news frog so pleased for you SmileSmile

SGJ · 12/04/2013 22:20

Hooray, Frog, great news!

Creamtea1 · 12/04/2013 22:26

Have just installed the iPhone app - shiny!
Does anyone know how to add a photo on your profile? I have a bump one

CharlW1 · 12/04/2013 22:53

Fab news frog so happy for you.

Dorita75 · 13/04/2013 06:55

Oh, hello heartburn. The 2 week window between nausea ending and you arriving was lovely!

SGJ · 13/04/2013 07:33

Yes, Dorita! I was in heartburn hell yesterday too! Afternoons have been worse. I HATE Gaviscon but swigging it from the bottle does help. It's the thick texture I can't stand, rather than the flavour (th
Does anyone else have any other remedies?
