here we all are... hoping for nice clear 20w. scans, not too much inadvertent weeing and getting that 'glow'...

Agreed giraffe don't panic but call your midwife. They can get you in for a scan to reassure you :) fx

ION I'm sure some people enjoy being offended. Just posted looking or baby names and all I said was I don't like chavvy or biblical names and I'm getting comments of "hard to know what to suggest until we know what you call chavvy". So I guess I should just write out a list of horrible names to offend half of mumsnet?! Gah! Too many hormones in this place for comfort!

JammyTummy · 11/04/2013 11:48

flo I think some people thrive on kicking up a stink, it's what gets them going. If you don't like a thread, don't bloody look at it!

JammyTummy · 11/04/2013 11:50

giraffe have you been able to establish whether its coming g from 'outsid or 'inside'? I know if it was me I'd have a little, ahem, investigation in there. It might give you some peace of mind.

Girraferama · 11/04/2013 11:55

Thanks guys, yes will give her a call. Just been to the loo again and totally fine. So weird. Trying to stay calm.

Creamtea1 · 11/04/2013 12:36

giraffe I've had exactly that too and it was coming from errm, the bottom end. So try not to worry x

CharlW1 · 11/04/2013 14:08

Just catching up from the last few days! I'm on holiday in Turkey - the week has gone so fast but exactly what I needed in terms of relaxing - not sure how I am going to cope at work next week without my little long afternoon sleeps!

My skin has been a lot more sensitive in the sun - second day I burnt my legs so bad it actually hurt to walk! ankles have well and truly turned to cankles too.

I still haven't felt anything definite and I'm19 weeks tomorrow - I am getting a bit worried now but hopefully I will feel something soon - definitely roll on to the 19th for my 20 week scan.

Creamtea I've had that delight too. Nearly had a heart attack before I realised...

LexyMa · 11/04/2013 15:31

Fx all ok giraffe, don't worry.

Kitten, I bet you just looked a little smidge more assertive as well as wearing the badge, because you'd been thinking about it! I have managed to travel in and out off peak so no pressure on seats at all.

I bf'd DS on cue/demand and had plenty of a 'life'!! including going back to work at 6m although I know I was lucky to have a meeting room available to express, and a fridge, AND nursery was on site so I could just drop the milk there for the following day. I have blocked out can't remember when the middle of the night feeds went on till. As he gradually weaned and needed less milk, we went down to an 'arriving home' 6pm feed, a last before bed 8pm feed, sometimes an 11pm 'dreamfeed' and a 6am wake up feed. Dropped the dream feed, then the before bed, then the arriving home, and did the 6am one until age 20 months when we went to Cyprus for a postponed honeymoon and left him with my parents for four days (he had a great time being fussed over!). I didn't really want to go out partying much, and our social circle is mostly families anyway, so baby came with us and fed when he needed. After 1 year old, if I did go out he could have cows milk, but some nights it was daddy and cow milk even if I was in, because I was insistent we shared parenting completely.

The only person who ever commented on my feeding him was MIL, and not in a bad way really, she just kept mentioning that she couldn't because she had an abscess. well, I ... (er, probably bit much of a scare story for this thread, so if you want to know, look for 'Lexilicious' in late 2009 in the breast and bottle feeding topic!!)

I am realising I am currently in rather polarised maternity wear options where the choice is boring black trousers or jeans, coupled with either floaty or bump-accentuating tops. Today I have been in a floaty top because I didn't want to look pregnant too obviously, because of the particular meeting I was in. I am wondering whether to look for skirts, but I also have quite a few dresses, so maybe that would be a bit extravagant.

Giraffe, I had the same thing about 2 weeks ago. Ie, one wipe worth and nothing more..

It was at night and I was advised to go to A&E by my midwife, had loads of investigations and baby was totally fine (I was 13+5 at the time) now 16 wks, not had anymore and heard the lovely heartbeat last week. Don't panic, get it checked out for peace of mind.

Hope it all goes well

SGJ · 11/04/2013 17:23

What's more shocking is how the Daily Mail allows its journalists to lazily copy and paste from a similar 2009 article....
Some people who use mumsnet are plain bonkers but im pleased to say that you lot all seem like sane, normal people!! (and whilst pregnant too, well done you!)
Got 20 week scan tomorrow, it seems to have come round quickly! Will be 20+2 so hoping to get some nice clear pictures. Won't be finding out the sex though! Anyone else got theirs tomorrow?

frogchops · 11/04/2013 17:31

Quick vote. I think I've either got a uti, some sort of infection, cystitis or thrush...I'm rubbish at telling the difference. Either way its really uncomfortable bordering on painful. My Drs is conveniently closed today. Would you wait to go in the morning or wait the two hours at the Walk in now?

Eeeknumber3 · 11/04/2013 17:58

I haven't bought anything yet! My DD and DS are 5 and 7, so all their stuff is gone in the main! Will be borrowing lots, charity shopping/ebaying/jumble saling it....am known amongst my friends as Mrs Money saver! Hasn't always been this way, used to be terrible spendthrift!

Eeeknumber3 · 11/04/2013 18:03

Ooo what just happened, I posted my post and it gave me several new pages of you guys posting, so apologies that last comment was very behind...OMG I have serious baby brain...

RunningBear78 · 11/04/2013 18:19

frog does it hurt when you pee, or twinges now and then or all the time? A few of us have had stabbing type pains up inside the fanjo, but it does pass. I've been told it might be growing pains, although to be fair, not by a mw. Mine passed so I stopped worrying.

If yr really worrieddo you have a mw triage number to call? Otherwise head for the gp.

Kittenkatzen · 11/04/2013 18:28

frog at this point i think I'd probably wait till the morning if you're not really in pain atm. Unless you're really worried or think you might have trouble getting in first thing tomorrow?

jammy I laughed my way through that article earlier - the tone of it is just so childish ("they were mean to me...") and I can't believe she named and shamed some posters - telling tales much?! Thing is MN is so big and so broad that you can find anything here if you look hard enough - some threads do turn really nasty, but I've also read some if the kindest most heartwarming threads in support of people having a hard time as well. It is what you make of it I think, like anything in life.

dakomponist · 11/04/2013 18:51

SGJ - I've my 20 wk scan tomorrow also. Really looking forward to seeing the wee thing again and sharing the moment with DP.

JammyTummy · 11/04/2013 19:46

I was just quite amazed that they let her publish such an angry, bratty article and feature it as one of their main stories! I appreciate that whoever was nasty to her is in the wrong but she seems to have a real chip on her shoulder.
I absolutely agree- I've had nothing but good advice and support since I've joined, and I know lots of other people definitely have too.

frogchops · 11/04/2013 20:04

I went to the walk in as I didn't want to piss work off by being in late again tomorrow. Blush The nurse has prescribed anti biotics that will get rid of both uti and cystitis apparantly. She did a dip test on my wee and said it was only slightly infected. She wants me to send it away to be tested so well see what's wrong when I've done that! She prodded my yummy and was a little concerned that I could feel pressure below my belly button, but surely that's just because there's a baby there??

Girraferama · 11/04/2013 20:30

Hi all, update, nothing all day so was feeling quite relaxed about the incident this morning and came up with all sorts of reasons it could have happened. Checked myself out when I got home from work but couldn't see anything like a scratch or mark.

Text my midwife to ask her to call when free, non-urgent, then got ready for yoga, quickly popped to the loo to find... Blood again! Freaked out! Rang my local midwife unit and the lady was so lovely. I popped along straight away and she listened to the heartbeat, all ok.

She said it's quite common, not too worry because it was pinky-red not bright red and old me to take it easy and just call them f I'm worried. She was really good.

It's stopped again now. She said it could be from Dtd (which we haven't), thrush (which I've not got) or from overdoing t/lifting things (which I haven't) but she told me really not to worry, so I'm now at home doing my best!!

God this pregnancy thing is SO stressful! Thanks or support everyone Thanks

CheeseStrawCraving · 11/04/2013 20:30

SGJ I agree, we seem to have a nice sane, open-to-all-experiences group here which is lovely, but mners are sometimes bonkers! In fact, I sometimes wander onto the baby names threads to look up our short list and see what the opinions are. I get sidetracked every time by the different opinions, they are brilliant, esp as peoples' choices are so varied!

ION haven't felt any movement yet (18+4) today, but finally got my scan date through for 22nd April, yay! Anyone else found community midwives in thir areas not great? Wasn't sure what to expect as a first-timer, but can honestly say a bit disappointed so far...

Also, I know we have discussed this before, but how many of you are going for NCT classes as first-timers? Just can't decide!

JammyTummy · 11/04/2013 20:51

Cheese I am really undecided too! I was told that they are great from a social aspect, as you get to meet people in the exact same boat as you, but the idea of 'role playing exercises' and other such fills me and DH with total fear!

PurplePoppySeed · 11/04/2013 20:59

Girra - my friend told me a she back that in all three of her pregnancies she had bleeds at 16 weeks. Each time she decided to take it easy for a couple of days and never got an explanation for it, but she has 3 healthy teenage boys now Grin

PurplePoppySeed · 11/04/2013 21:00

Sorry hopefully you got the gist - no idea what I was typing there clearly!
