I'm normally a fiend for real, strong coffee the minute I open my eyes but I've gone off it! Probably a good thing. Tea and white bread, marmite toast to settle my stomach is my current morning routine!

featherbag · 19/04/2013 08:08

I have to spend over 2 hours on buses today to get DS to a hospital appointment, I'm dreading it, feeling sick at the thought! It's in the city DH works in so he'll drive us back, but when we got the appointment I was adamant he shouldn't use precious annual leave to pick us up, I wasn't pregnant and green then though! Anyone got any tips?

PostladyPat · 19/04/2013 08:25

Thanks all!

(Waves at CremeEgg) I have not mentioned in front of my 2.5 year old for fear he tells the world! Would love some sleeeep please!

I'm half an hour in, DS napping, I've got fruit juices and snacks, so far so good!

Hello,
Room for me? I got my BFP 2 weeks ago but it's taken me that long to get used to the idea, find the thread and then read the previous posts. Feather, wow what a rollercoaster!! I think we'll all be routing for you in the coming months.

This is #2 for us. DD is 2, had her in Oxford (great midwife unit) but now live in France so will be all new again. Already seen my lovely English speaking doc who admitted she is also expecting her 2nd due Nov. What will I do without her towards the end!?

Due 13th dec, scan booked for June 4th.

Only symptoms so far; tiredness, thirst, needing to pee, bloating and (when not bloated) Blushunusually horny

Remember feeling very anxious and counting each day last time, until 20 week scan really, particularly after scare at 12 week scan. This time it's different, I keep forgetting! Also quite happy to 'enjoy' pregnancy while it lasts, before the real work of being responsible for 2 kids starts. DD was a delight from day one (with the odd 'challenge' thrown in the keep us on our toes) can't shake the feeling I'm due a difficult one this time Wink

Looking fwd to sharing the ride with you all.

featherbag · 19/04/2013 13:30

I take it back. We're now on country roads, the driver's doing 50mph+, and I think I'm going to die!

ready I always think I'm due a difficult one but when dd was born everyone said how she was laid back because we were so I'm trying to replicate that! Plus trying not to label before they arrive as sometimes it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Had anyone else decided what sex they are having? I mean any strong feelings? DH and I notice that I've only been looking at baby boy names. I'm convinced I've got a little man in here although there is no possible way I could know that!!!

Penny31 · 19/04/2013 16:45

Hi guys, mind if I join? Got my BFP yesterday, due 29th December :)

Rang the docs to ask what the process is. I have to take in a urine sample and make an appointment when I hand it in. I will have to say, hi here is my pee cos I'm pregnant and you need to confirm it. The whole waiting room will hear me because the receptionist sits behind glass and you have to speak up so they hear you! I'm mortified!

inkymomma · 19/04/2013 16:54

How long after going to the doctors did people hear off their midwives?

yogafan · 19/04/2013 17:27

Hope you survived the journey ok feather...
Welcome and congrats newbies, we've got the same due date readyornot, and my DD is almost 2.
I have been sooooo tired today. And yesterday. I was laying on the sofa yesterday evening thinking i physically can't relax enough. Laying down, feet up, cushions etc but it still felt like such an effort. Is it all the extra blood we're having to pump around?
I'm still not mega sick like I was with DD so that makes me wonder whether little bean will turn out to be a boy... Would be thrilled either way, it's quite fun to imagine either a brother or a sister for DD...
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Dasie · 19/04/2013 18:26

Inky I had my Gp appointment on the friday and the midwife rang me on the following Tuesday and I have my booking in appointment when I am exactly 8 weeks so was pretty pleased with how well that went.

Welcome to all the new ladies Grin

violetbean · 19/04/2013 18:35

I am really tired as well, yogafan. Couldn't get up this morning, even though went to bed pretty early last night! Congrats Soopermum, sounds amazing!

I have told my family and some close friends, hopefully they'll be there for me whatever happens.

But also, ooops, I told someone by accident yesterday, when he was like 'so, when are you next going on holiday to (country where I regularly go to visit family)?' So I was like 'ummmm, well, ummm...' Blush and then he looked at me weirdly and I just went 'well, actually, I just found out I'm pregnant so I expect I won't be going for at least a year... although it's really early days...'. Feel like a total idiot though, should have just said 'oh, about a year' or something. Am terrible at lying. I guess it won't hurt too much that he knows, he's someone I won't see very often between now and December. He was really nice, but probably quite surprised I told him!

Need to start thinking up some explanations so I don't get caught out again. Anyone had similar experience?

inkymomma · 19/04/2013 18:45

dasie how long should I leave it before contacting the doctors again. I'll be 6 weeks on Tuesday. The doctor didn't even ask how far along I was when I went the beginning of the week. Just don't want to leave it too long

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 19/04/2013 18:51

I have found Bread sticks are helping me get through the boaky periods.
Not sure they have much actual nutritional value.

Inky - I will make an appt myself with the Mw for around 8-9 weeks. We don't need to see a GP at all. Will need to be after scan though. Stupidly made my last one the day of my second early scan. Did all the form filling only to find I had an MMC - will not be doing that again!

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 19/04/2013 18:53

inky - ring the reception and ask to make a booking in appt. they'll tell you if it's supposed to be done by the Mw - you can always say that you need a couple of weeks notice to be able to arrange time off work.

Dasie · 19/04/2013 19:01

Inky I agree with chocolate's advice, after my GP appointment I went to the reception to be given my pack of paperwork and she took my contact details to pass on to the mw.

inkymomma · 19/04/2013 19:08

Thanks everyone. I'll ring the doctors on Monday

featherbag · 19/04/2013 19:09

I survived, just - not an experience I'll be repeating any time soon though! Was only in with consultant about 5 minutes, long enough for him to say he doesn't think DS needs to see him as he thinks the first consultant he saw (at the hospital I bloody work in!) can deal with what needs dealing with. So was all for naught! Still, I have pizza and chocolate for tonight assuming I stay awake long enough to enjoy any of it and at the minute no nausea, so going to attempt to watch a film with DH.

We don't need to see GP here, just book in directly with MW. My appointment's next week when I'll be 7+4, and it's a few hours after my second early scan to make sure the bean's progressing normally. They did want to book my scan for the following day, but I explained I didn't want to book in with MW (who only sees new patients one day a week) only to have to 'un-book' the very next day if all isn't as it should be. There's no real rule about how long you have to wait to book in, except the MW won't see anyone before 6/40. I'm actually dreading the MW appointment as after the fiasco pregnancy/birth I had with DS plus early scare this time, I know I'm going to be an absolute nightmare. I want everything planned for, and I want everything my way. I don't care if they don't like it, I am never feeling so out of control of my own body ever again.

PistachioTruffle · 19/04/2013 19:26

I've had a tiny bit more brown spotting today Sad I was starting to feel quite positive, now I just feel silly for getting my hopes up. I have had some mild nausea and tiredness though. I just don't know how I'll get through the next week sane.
Sorry to put a downer on everyone.

featherbag · 19/04/2013 19:58

Aw Pistachio :( Brown blood's old blood though, so it may just be the remnants of the earlier bleed working it's way out - I had this up until a few days ago xx
