Thanks Louby and Fairy!! That makes me feel better about feeling alright... In a weird way! Lol... I would like to stay this way, I really would. But I think it just seems so unreal despite the 4 BFPs that I just want/need more things to tell me this is happening. I'm looking forward to the midwife appt in a fortnight.

Fairydogmother · 24/03/2013 21:54

Think we've all had those feelings at one time or another!

That's why I booked an early scan as I need to actually SEE something! Tho if I'm not pregnant there's something else seriously wrong with me!

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 24/03/2013 21:56

Fairy, Yeah I get what you mean. I like seeing stuff too! Can't wait for scan

JBrd · 24/03/2013 21:59

ilove I don't think that they have found out yet what actually causes morning sickness - the most common thing you read/hear is that it's your body dealing with the hormonal changes etc.
I'm 5 weeks today, no symptoms yet either! And I really don't want ms, it's awful - with DS, it was 24hrs, and the only thing that helped was eating. My weight went through the roof!
It's worrying, I know because I worry, too! But everyone is different, I know a lot of people who did not have any ms at all. And you will certainly make up for the lack of any symptoms in the 3rd trimester - contrary to what everyone says, pg is far from glamourous Confused

getoffthecoffeetable · 24/03/2013 22:01

We're waiting for the NHS 12 week scan. We had a private one done at 9 weeks when I was pregnant with DS but that was because the NHS didn't offer the nuchal fold scans but they do now so we're saving the money. Ended up having two scans before NHS one last time because I'd got my dates wrong and they can only do nuchal fold from 9 weeks. So with DS, had already seen his little heartbeat by now. I'm so impatient and paranoid to get this 12 week scan done and dusted.
I was nowhere near this paranoid when I was pregnant with DS.

My boobs are hurting too - nipples are hard and keep showing through my tops, very embarrassing!

jen252 · 24/03/2013 22:33

Hi all... New here and new to all this pregnancy stuff, too.

Just passed 6 weeks and have had a tough week. If it's not nausea (no actual puking yet, just feel like I have the worst hangover of my life), it's insomnia, or reflux, or general aches, or exhaustion, or really dry skin and itching, or anxiety... Oh, and hay fever.

So far I've had a phone consult with a GP, and I'm going to call tomorrow just to see if there's anything to be done about how bad I'm feeling.

I'm excited, but it's still not all feeling entirely real. Doesn't help that I'm completely lost when it comes to all the appointments and scans and all that. The GP said something about a first appointment with a midwife at 10 weeks, but reading on here makes me feel like that's really late.

Anyway, hi!!

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 24/03/2013 22:37

Hey Jen! My midwife appt is in 2 weeks on Tuesday and I'll be 8 weeks that day. Not expecting a scan then obviously but hoping to hear a heartbeat!! :) sorry that you feel so bad! Have you tried ginger biscuits?? They are supposed to be good for nausea! And I've heard that if you eat some local honey it can be really good for hayfever !!

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 24/03/2013 22:40

Also, just wondering if anyone has started moisturising their belly. I've bought some stretch mark stuff which is supposed to be really good and my skin feels great! And I love the smell...my friend suggested it may be a good idea to start early! Got to be honest, I rub the bits left on my hand on my face, and I'm pretty sure it's made me look even younger!!! Wink

jen252 · 24/03/2013 22:52

I've tried all sorts. Ginger biscuits made the reflux worse, which just made me feel even more sick. (The reflux is a standing issue for me, so not necessarily related to the pregnancy, just seems to be a bit worse lately.)

I'm guessing if my first midwife appointment is at 10 weeks, it'll be past 12 weeks by the time I actually get a scan. Feels like ages to wait when the past week has gone so slow!

louby86 · 24/03/2013 23:17

Ilove - usually the MW won't listen for a heartbeat until after 16 weeks because when they'd been doing it before they'd found they were worrying people unnecessarily and sending them for scans when there was nothing wrong. Just wanted to say to prepare you for if they didn't, I know I was disappointed at an appointment where I was 15+5 and the MW wouldn't get her Doppler out Smile

louby86 · 24/03/2013 23:19

And yes, I've already started on the moisturiser, it seemed to work last time Smile What stuff are you using? I just used a couple of massage bars from Lush and some soap and glory stuff. I struggle to use the proper oils because I'm allergic to nuts

Partula · 25/03/2013 00:01

I just thought I would say hi, I'm new to the site and due on 27th November. I'm a ball of nervous excitement it's our first baby. Unfortunately I started to feel sick at 3 weeks I have read that can happen though.....

getoffthecoffeetable · 25/03/2013 06:15

Hi to jen and partula and congratulations.
For reflux, Gaviscon is your friend. Would highly recommend it. Also, making sure you've eaten something will help with nausea, even if it's just a plain cracker or biscuit.
DS wasn't up until 6 which was lovely. Crackers to be thinking 6am is a lie in!
harv what a coincidence! If we get same scan dates too that'd be spooky!
Hope everyone's feeling alright and ready for work today.
Am hoping for no nausea today as I've got clients this morning, fingers crossed.

Saundy · 25/03/2013 07:14

Hey jen & part welcome & congrats!

Yep harv my nipples are no longer my friends either. Not sure what's going on with them but if I accidentally brush them I know about it.

ILove my boobs are relatively unchanged (dammit) so you're ahead of me already & I'm 7+3. If I didn't have thus cyst I'm not sure I'd have much symptom wise apart from being tired, bloated & a bit windy. People say that about sickness but its not necessarily true, you'll encounter plenty of mothers that didn't get it at all.

I've been using the sanctuary mum to be oil as its 3 for 2 on their site & so far I'm not allergic to it (got a massive rash off the Palmers body butter). Hopefully it'll do the trick but with my fragile skin I doubt it.

Did that belly booth thing & can't believe I've put on weight in the last 2 weeks. How?! I've barely got an appetite & it's only the size of a frickin pea or something, seriously wtf?!! Not cool. Not loads like but I didn't expect anything yet. The pants were tight! Sorry, still coming to teens with that one.

Good luck with work get try not to vom on your clients Wink

Saundy · 25/03/2013 07:14

vix206 · 25/03/2013 07:20

I said I'd leave you girls to it as I feel bad keep posting scary stuff. But there has been no bleeding overnight and none so far this morning. Don't want false hope but still no pain whatsoever, no clots and probably only a total of 2 tsp of blood lost in 48 hours. I can see some hope. Roll on 10.30 midwife appt so hopefully we can get referred to EPU and get some facts.

notsoold · 25/03/2013 07:22

Ilove I don't have ms yet and just feel like an unsettled stomach .Abit tired and windy ( sorry tmi)...
I did not have ms at all with dd and she was borm as healthy as ever. Had loads with ds (until 7 months) again healthy baby....

I am 9+3 and after the private scan om Friday I am much happier....
My dd was aroumd with fiancee and did not notice anything...quite funny really!!!!
We are waiting until 12 weeks to tell people...

Fairydogmother · 25/03/2013 07:29

All fingers xd for you vix

I feel like death this morning - chest tight and got the cold. The asthma nurse said that pregnancy didn't seem to agree with me and I think she's right!

getoffthecoffeetable · 25/03/2013 07:29

Oh vix that sounds positive.
Keeping everything crossed for you and sending lots if positive thoughts and prayers your way.
Hope you get the referral for today.

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 25/03/2013 07:33

Louby86 I'm using palmers cocoa butter. It has really good reviews apparently!

Saundy · 25/03/2013 07:41

Vix Good luck for today, let us know how you get on.

Dizzy81 · 25/03/2013 07:41

Vix, that sounds positive, have everything crossed for you.

I rolled onto my stomach in the night, didn't stay there for long the boobies hurt.

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 25/03/2013 07:42

Dizzy81 I love lying on my tummy! But do you ever wake up in a panic that you are squishing your baby??

Saundy · 25/03/2013 07:43

Thats a bit rubbish Fairy hopefully its just a period of adjustment & the bad weather combining. I'm pretty sure the next tri will be much better for all of us (it has to be right?!).

Dizzy81 · 25/03/2013 07:51

I lovemilton I normally sleep on my side but I will admit the thought of squashing jelly bean did cross my mind. I've found sleeping on my back is a no go as it makes me feel sick.

Just had breakfast and need to lay down. Grrr.
