Saundy that's a fab way to break the news! Imagine their faces!

Diege · 30/03/2013 18:06

ooh busy where's the sun then?? Envy.
Re: hair dye tell your midwife to read the NHS guidelines Grin

Fairydogmother · 30/03/2013 18:11

Hair all lovely glossy blond again! It actually took longer to take than normal!

We're going out for dinner with my sister and her husband and then they'll come back here. So I made sure the downstairs loo was sparkly clean and what does my DP do??!!! Go and ensconce himself in there with a rally magazine [buhmm]

getoffthecoffeetable · 30/03/2013 18:46

Have now told the rest of the family. Did it by phone for my brother and SIL. They were really pleased and am going to meet them on Monday for lunch. Glad I told them on the phone though so they can get used to the idea.
Another here scared about there being nothing there at twelve week scan. Feeling very pregnant today though!

Dizzy81 · 30/03/2013 19:30

Where's my energy gone? I've spent most of the day napping, though did go for a walk this afternoon - yep had a nap when I got back.

The nausea has been a killer this afternoon, triggered by string smells! Had the most blandest tea ever, noodles and stir fry veg.

Saundy, I love your idea of breaking the news to them.

BangOn · 30/03/2013 19:33

you're not alone, i'm also worried about not seeing a baby on the 12week scan. I take comfort in thinking back to how surprised & happy i was to see dcs1 & 2 jiggling around on their 12 week scans & how their temperaments were obvious even then... dd1 was exercising her little limbs as fast as she possibly could. she looked like she was in training for the olympics! dd2 was so chilled & calm i actually asked the sonographer if there was something wrong. she said it was probably just her personality, & turns out she was right!

louby86 · 30/03/2013 19:50

Just popping on to say hello to everyone! I'm really struggling to keep up with the thread! I'm still on the feb bus from 2012 when DS was born, we're actually having a massive birthday party for them all next week now we've all had our family parties with our babies! I'm so excited!

Feeling a bit un-pregnant compared to last time. Apart from the fact that I'm eating whatever isn't nailed down in the house Smile

harverina · 30/03/2013 20:00

I have had a really good day - still feel sick and tired but its not nearly as bad as yeaterday. Forced myself to get ready and make a little effort for going to meet my friend for lunch and ended up having a lovely day.

Bought sickness bands just before going for lunch and found they really helped - what do they actually do and are they supposed to be so tight? They are leaving marks on my wrists, are they supposed to?

Sitting watching a DVD just now with dh and dd. have eaten a full packet of butterkist and suffering for it now its my own fault for being so greedy Blush

Hope your are all well Grin

harverina · 30/03/2013 20:03

Dizzy try and have an early night despite napping lots today - I always think our bodies are good at telling us what they need. I am ready to sleep on the couch just waiting for dd to go to bed (she is getting to stay up a little later as watching a DVD with popcorn) and then I will be flat out!

honey86 · 30/03/2013 20:35

i wear them harv i wudnt worry about the marks just take em off at night... their meant to be slightly tight cos theyre meant to press against the pressure points in your wrist xx

harverina · 30/03/2013 20:36

Ok thanks I don't have the smallest wrists either! They def help! Smile

honey86 · 30/03/2013 20:49

Smile that may work in your favour then, , it says on the pack that if you need extra relief to press down on the band... ive got little wrists so theyre not very tight.. i have to press on them time to time x

harverina · 30/03/2013 20:57

Oh really we'll that's good to know - although my fingers are going blue...I'm kidding of course

williaminajetfighter · 30/03/2013 21:18

I bought sea bands today as well in a nice inconspicuous red colour! Won't look dodgy at work at all.

I too have small wrists and find they're not really working so will try pressing on the pressure points. Thx for the tip. Do others wear theirs a few cm down from their wrist? Tried to follow instructions...

Was properly nauseous today. Rubbish!

Minesahotchocolate · 30/03/2013 21:28

Sorry to hear that some ladies are suffering so much from MS - I hope it passes really soon.

Great news with all the scans though - yay!

Diege - thanks for posting about the hair dye. With my 1st preg I was super careful and didn't get my hair dyed at all, but this time I decided just to go ahead (it's hard to feel good whilst your body is changing shape so much, when you are plagued by horribly grey hair!). Anyway, after getting my hair coloured I then started feeling a bit anxious about it. Esp. after reading on the NHS website that some ladies wait until after the first 12 weeks have passed, and the foetus has gone through the most major developments, before getting their hair dyed. Eeek! Feel much better knowing that I'm not alone in getting my hair dyed - phew! And that there is no research demonstrating a risk. Will stop worrying now (or at least try to!).

Having had on and off queasiness quite a bit from week 5-7, for the last week I've barely felt queasy at all. Just tired, but then I've had a stinking cold. I don't even feel that bloated anymore either - my jeans had been feeling really tight. It's v. difficult to remember that I'm actually preg. I'll be glad when I get to 12 weeks and have had an all clear at the scan then. Still feels so unreal just now, and the lack of symptoms worries me a little. That's despite me having had a scan at 7weeks - how on earth are the rest of you who haven't had scans at all yet coping with the wait?! These weeks seem to be passing SO slowly!!

(8+4)

louby86 · 30/03/2013 22:03

I'll join you in the hair dying Mine Smile

I'll start to resemble somebody of the Jeremy Kyle show if I wait until I'm 12 weeks to get my roots done Grin

honey86 · 30/03/2013 22:29

from what i remember from my hairdressing days (yes im qualified Smile) its certain compounds in particular dyes that is unsafe in pregnancies... which dyes im not sure... and the way your hair/scalp behaves can change cos of the hormones which cn make it react differently to the way it normally does.

my hair is platinum blonde, bleached... but bleach doesnt put pigments in your hair like dye does, it oxidises it out.. although youd prob need to take care with it cos bleach powder can be inhaled so easily, lets off bleachy fumes and youd need to check the info on any toners you use... or run it by the mw x

MummaPanda · 30/03/2013 22:30

Just looking back at pregnancy photos from dd and my belly is same size now as it was at 20weeks last time!! Its not hard though, just bloating I suppose. Either that or im growing a litter... Confused

harverina · 30/03/2013 22:57

Yeah williamina 3 fingers down and in middle of wrist? I found they work well - would kids ones for you or be too small?

jen252 · 30/03/2013 23:04

Where are people getting the wrist bands? Is it a Boots/Lloyds job?

Things aren't getting any better for me, so going to ask for the anti-sickness meds at my appointment on Tuesday, too.

getoffthecoffeetable · 30/03/2013 23:47

I got my wrist bands from Boots. They were £8.20. I have quite slim wrists but definitely needed the adult ones, they leave marks on my wrists too. Haven't worn them for a while now as I only feel sick after eating st the moment.
saundy how did telling your family go?
Hope that you have a better day tomorrow dizzy
I've got my midwife booking in appointment tomorrow. I'm 9 weeks today. Really hoping they'll be able to fit my scan in before I'm 13 weeks as I'd like to have nuchal test.

harverina · 31/03/2013 02:36

Mine are boots - couldn't believe how expensive they were!

After sleeping on the couch for a couple of hours I have not been able to sleep at all Hmm

harverina · 31/03/2013 03:17

And have just remembered that we lose an hour tonight anyway grrrrr Angry dd will be up in 3 hours!!!

getoffthecoffeetable · 31/03/2013 07:36

harv I was awake for most of the night too. I'll be needing a nap later!
On the plus side, psychologically, getting up at 6.50 this morning was so much better than 5.50!
Hope you managed to get some rest.
honey how is DD?

TheSperminator · 31/03/2013 08:13

Hey all, I've been struggling to keep up with the chat. Congrats to all the newbies.

We paid for a private scan on Friday. DW had been anxious about whether pebble was still developing. Now 8 +1, first baby.

When we were walking to the clinic DW was shaking. She said it was from the cold but she was actually petrified of not finding anything. The scanner found pebble within seconds and what a huge relief to see a the heartbeat. It felt awesome to know that things are on track ! Best 50 quid we've ever spent.

Afterwards I told DW that I was so pleased to see a heartbeat and know she is pregnant because if she wasn't, I'd have had reasonable grounds for divorce given her mood changes lately
