No way?! That's almost double what my dd was!!! Was it a natural birth? Surely not?

I know honey how annoying! At least I will have had another scan by then though thank goodness!

9 weeks today Grin yay!

Just got an email from baby centre...

Your tiny resident inside your uterus is more than 2cm long, about the size of a grape. He is starting to look more human. The embryonic tail is completely gone. The eyes are fully formed, but the eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. Your baby has tiny earlobes and the nose and nostrils are more distinct. Inside your baby's gums, tiny teeth are beginning to form.

Lots of other changes are happening. This week your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form. When you see your midwife you may be able to hear your baby's rapid heartbeat with the help of a Doppler stethoscope. This is a handheld ultrasound device that your midwife places on your belly. Many women say that the beating of their baby's tiny heart sounds like the thunder of galloping horses. Hearing it for the first time can be very moving.

Other organs, muscles and nerves are also kicking into gear. Your baby's external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. So now all your baby's essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months.

Good luck get I'm glad it was so lovely telling the parents, I hope today goes well too.

That's a lovely idea stuff. Realised that I haven't left the house since Saturday!! Today's mission go out & get eggs for the nephews so that could well happen!

I've woken up in pain but not sick - I can't keep up. But at least it's alternating, the days I had both were not good days. I'm sick of complaining, it's boring now.

Yes dizzy there was a pregnancy thread on it. The medical staff had no clue he would be that big harv & his shoulders got stuck!!!

Sounds like your baba is racing along, I haven't read any on mine on he app for almost a week, will have to catch up. Mine should probably say 'your baby is hungry - eat woman!! & while you're at it get some fresh air' haha. Will oblige today.

Sorry so many are feeling ropey, I'm determined to steadfastly ignore my symptoms today & rejoin the world!

Saundy · 30/03/2013 09:13

Maybe we should all make the announcement on April Fools day haha go for the double bluff!

honey86 · 30/03/2013 09:48

i saw that dizzy! jeez makes my eyes water Blush

Fairydogmother · 30/03/2013 10:05

Morning all!

Just found out my friend is 3 months pregnant with her third - babies galore!

Going to get my hair done today as the roots are shocking lol.

harverina · 30/03/2013 10:52

Fairy that's great you have a pregnancy friend! One of my good friends is 16 weeks pregnant so we will be fairly close together giving birth and on maternity leave together Grin

honey86 · 30/03/2013 10:56

omg yes @ roots... had mine done a few weeks ago and theyre come through again already Sad

honey86 · 30/03/2013 10:59

honey86 · 30/03/2013 12:25

ohh :/ illring em tues (2 weeks post)

honey86 · 30/03/2013 12:26

9 weeks that is according to babycentre.. tho other dites say different x

honey86 · 30/03/2013 12:26

sites! stoopid iphone!

Diege · 30/03/2013 12:34

honey I gave my form in 2 weeks ago and am still to hear back from the mw. I will chase up end of next week as I know my surgery will be milking the 'bank holiday' excuse until then...
Having my roots done next week too - my hair certainly grows faster when I'm pregnant, and the colour takes a little quicker too, so you might want to mention that you're pregnant to the hairdresser just in case it behaves differently! Totally safe btw in pregnancy in case - have done very extensive research in this area Grin
Gutted that I won't be able to partake in my usual choc-fest tomorrow; just can't face the stuff.

MummaPanda · 30/03/2013 13:36

Woohoo just got my nuchal dating scan letter! 16th april. What happens if im not 12weeks? Will I get another scan? Because that date is going from last period and im pretty sure im not that far along.

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 30/03/2013 14:28

mumma i think 9 weeks is grape size Grin

As far as I know the 12 weeks is dated from your LMP so you'll probably be around 10 weeks from conception but 12 weeks from you LMP. Hmm

Saundy · 30/03/2013 15:03

I have an egg bought with 'Nana & Grandad (again)' iced on it - again as I have 4 nephews. Excited!!

Some areas send the letter out the week before the appt honey it's all a bit random.

Another one here with roots needing attention. It's a good job it's safe as its another thing I can add to the long list of things I shouldn't have done before I knew I was pregnant.

Theicingontop · 30/03/2013 15:09

Me too Mumma! Mine's for the 23rd April Grin

Not looking forward to the prodding and jiggling with a full bladder. The letter said it could take up to two hours, and includes a blood test. Since when do they do blood tests with the dating scans?! Confused

Diege I was having the hair dye debate with OH last week, he lost and my hair is now gorgeous and red. "But what if the hair dye seeps into your scalp and blood stream and POISONS OUR BABY?!" Hmm

Lovely to see some people are starting to share their news, it's all going so fast!! Feels like yesterday I got my bfp.

Diege · 30/03/2013 15:36

theicing if your Health Authority offer nuchal screening as part of their 12 week (which isn't compulsory to have done if you don't want it- but you have to opt out) they may take bloods too and then calculate your risk for chromosome abnormalities as a combination of nuchal reading and bloods taken. They do that here,so the bloods taken same day as scan and combined result given a few wks later.
Rest assured ladies on the hair colour thing - part of my job until recently involved working with others on risk in pregnancy (as part of a broader revisiting of ultrasound markers at 20 weeks scan in Wales) and I scoured literally hundreds are articles on environmental risk as part of a lit review I was writing. I wasn't actually focusing on the hair thing, but kept seeing research reports and couldn;t help but read...Apparently in the 1970s there was a chemical used in dark brown hair dyes that scientists in their wisdom decided to coat shaved, pregnant rats in for several hrs a day and for several mths. Out of 50 of the rats 6 of their offspring had genital abnormalities. That chemical isn;t used any more anyway, and even then it was devised that the human equivalent of time/absorbion just couldn;t happen - so swish away in front of dhtheicing Grin

MotherOfCleo · 30/03/2013 15:37

icing mines on the 29th, cant wait! We booked a private scan too which is this Thursday, I have a totally irrational fear that there wont be anything their when they scan me Hmm does anyone else have that irrational fear?

stuffthenonsense · 30/03/2013 16:00

Saundy I'd love to see their reaction to that!
I'm feeling very pregnant today. Hooray.

Dizzy81 · 30/03/2013 16:01

Motherofcleo, I had that fear which lead to a massive anxiety attack. I'm to sure how, others were it initially I couldn't look at the screen, when I did it was blank and I feared the worst, then I saw jelly bean, it's heart beat and the measurements were spot on. My next big fear is the 12 week scan.

busyprocrastinating · 30/03/2013 16:32

Yes I too have the fear that there will be nothing there!
Theicing blood tests are done at the same time as the scan here as well (which is why I can't look forward to it!)
We are at the caravan and the sun is out!

busyprocrastinating · 30/03/2013 16:58

Ooo interesting about the hair dye. My midwife last time told me I couldn't dye my hair and I was getting fed up with my roots already!

harverina · 30/03/2013 17:03

Yes mother of cleo I was scared of that too. I said "is there a baby there?" And the sonographer said yes there is a pregnancy!
