Dizzy I am only 5ft9 but even for me it's hard to get maternity jeans long enough on the high street. Next extra long ones were far too long though even though they say they are a 33 inside leg. I am usually a 33 or 34 inside leg so you might find the next ex long are long enough for you with flats.

MummaPanda · 29/03/2013 10:08

Ok I have officially forgotten what sleep is. I know I like it, but can't remember experiencing it Envy thanks to dd waking up every 2hrs, she seems to be getting worse at sleeping and I don't know why! And then she's cranky all day which is soo hard to deal with when you've had no sleep yourself! Gaaahhh!

In another note I am barely 5ft2 so I'm pretty much just a round ball by the end of pregnancy lol

i liked the denim spotty jeggings! but i'm not needing anything like that so its a pest that the sales are on now! i take it you just buy your normal size tho?

Mistyshore · 29/03/2013 10:42

Next is good for maternity basics. I lived in a pair of combat trousers from there last pregnancy. Their tops are long in the maternity range too. Bump bands are great too, you can get away with non maternity tops if you're wearing one. I loved showing off my bump but hated the thought of my bare skin poking out of the bottom of my clothes.

Yes, you just buy your normal size, I found the maternity section is usually generous. I'm normally an 18 but 14's and 16's fitted me in some ranges.

SpanishLady · 29/03/2013 11:04

Morning - sunshine!!! Hurrah! Have exhausted myself running round the park this morning and now having a mint tea in the sun bliss.

I'm now in maternity leggings (£12 from mothercare) and can't see me lasting in normal clothes for long either as cant do my jeans up without breathing in and feeling a bit sick - I've kept most stuff from last time and pretty much got away with one pair of mat jeans, one pair of black work trousers, one mat jean skirt and some maxi dresses! I have some new stuff this time as will be on holiday when pregnant but otherwise will hopefully fudge it again.

Theboob I think I'm in the same boat as you - my last actual period started 2nd December and I got pregnant about 2 weeks after I miscarried in which case if they date me from then I'm 17 weeks ( actually think I'm 8+1 today) my booking in appointment isn't until April 10th ( when by my calcs think i'll be 9 +6) so wonder if they will scan me ASAP or wait till I think I'm 12 weeks - very confusing!

Very pleased to hear good scan news - hope everyone has a good Easter!

GinSling82 · 29/03/2013 11:11

Morning Ladies!

I had my scan yesterday evening and I have to say it was worth every penny! I was really quite nervous beforehand just kept thinking what if there was no heartbeat or even no baby. Then DH came home from work 30mins late which led to us almost missing the appointment, and he received a few choice words from me on the way about taking the pregnancy seriously and prioritising! Blush. But luckily we made it and it was so lovely to get a first glimpse of our bean. To see its little heart beating was incredible and I have to say is the first time I've actually accepted that this is really happening. And I think it brought it home to hubby to. Eeek!Shock

Anyway I know others had scans yesterday so hope everyone got the news they were hoping for (fairy i was thinking of you as I think your scan was at the same timeish) but haven't had chance to catch up on the thread, so off to do that now! Smile

Hope everyone is having a nice start to Easter x

honey86 · 29/03/2013 11:54

yeah when... ive given it a few goes but no luck so far, its definitely a good doppler as it picks up my heartbeat clear as day ive been playing with it Grin all ive heard so far is the swooshing of blood flow in the middle of my abdomen just above my pubic bone and angled downwards, which im guessing may be where the placenta is...
im not expecting anything great as im only 9 weeks tomorrow.. ill let u know when i do x

Dizzy81 · 29/03/2013 11:55

My mums just come round and she was telling about her cravings and they are the same as mine expect she craved oranges and e apples.

Saundy · 29/03/2013 11:56

I'm with you fairy hadn't budgeted for maternity clothes so thank goodness mine still fit. It's pretty exciting that people are showing though.

diege I second New Look or H&M. I have no idea what to do about the screening tests, I'm swaying towards not getting them. I don't think I'd end the pregnancy & so it might just become a cause for anxiety. I helped to hang an exhibition a couple of years ago by a disabled artist that expressed it as gov backed genocide. It's such a tricky one, I'm finding it really difficult to find my moral footing if you know what I mean. I certainly wouldn't judge anyone who does.

Whoa Dizzy size 9?!! You must be tall!

Congrats on the scan Gin am really pleased for you.

Last night was worst night ever for me. From about 11pm to 6am ever time I took a sip of water or even just shifted position I had to run to be sick. Am absolutely exhausted today. Finally got to sleep about 7. Have woken up with a super dry mouth but am too scared to even have a sip of water in case it starts again. Am having major eat/drink anxiety. 8 wks today & I'm surprised by how I'm just feeling worse & worse every day. Its exhausting. Not sure what I would have done without pre booked holidays this week. Moan moan moan!! Sorry To complain am feeling really sorry for myself today.

Fairydogmother · 29/03/2013 12:18

saundy just watch you dont dehydrate - poor you!

i feel fine apart from this rotten cold and i think its making me feel bad whereas the pregnancy isnt!

fab news gin! its surreal seeing it and def worth the money

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 29/03/2013 12:19

saundy that sounds awful. Hope you feel better soon. I'm the opposite today, don't feel remotely pregnant so am worried.

honey I'll race you to finding a heartbeat. I've ordered the Doppler. It should be with me next week (will be 10 weeks). I really hope I can find a heartbeat, I'm so paranoid all the time.

Diege · 29/03/2013 12:22

I know what you mean saundy about screening. I didn't have any last pregnancy (dc5) when I was 40, but for some reason would like to know this time. I wouldn't personally terminate for downs (and also wouldn;t judge anyone for so doing - totally an individual decision) so I suppose that's why this harmony test seems a good compromise, giving me a 99.9% certain answer and yet with no risk of mc as with amnio or cvs.
I should mention my absolute fave maternity wear company is Isabella Oliver.Yes, it is very pricey, but you can get some bargains on ebay and it also sells on well after. The maternity leggings are brilliant - last and last and don't bag at the knees.

Fairydogmother · 29/03/2013 12:29

I have no idea what sort of screening is offered in N Ireland tho read something yesterday that said nuchal fold tests werent offered. i'll talk to the midwife on 9 april and see what she says tho.

theres no way i could terminate but i would like to know

GinSling82 · 29/03/2013 12:29

Saundy sorry you're feeling so rough today, really sounds like you need a trip to the doctor and some anti-sickness tablets, last night sounds horrendous. Were you already suffering with nausea because if this is out of the blue, maybe you ate something funny?

I've had a bit of a catch up now so it was good to see brilliant news for willamina, harverina, berrybomb & retro too.

Fairy congrats on your scan too.Smile Its strange but they dated me 3 days ahead of where I thought I was too so that would make me 8+4 today and EDD 4th Nov like you. How accurate do you think it is? I was wondering if I need to wait for my 12 week scan or should I actually think of myself as 8+4?

Wibbly great tip about sucking the belly in. I have strange sensation/discomfort in my stomach if I cough or sneeze etc so I will try that tactic Smile

I'm definitely not showing yet but I'm certainly bloating!! Hmm. I wake up with normalish tum but as soon as I eat anything I look preggers! Don't really want to buy maternity stuff yet as wouldn't know where to start!

Diege · 29/03/2013 12:32

saundy apologies if you've mentioned it before down thread, but if you're struggling to keep water down it may be that would benefit from anti-sickness meds? I was in a similar position at 5 weeks and was prescribed cyclizine without question by my GP - made a real difference in being able to keep things down, esp fluids xx

Fairydogmother · 29/03/2013 12:39

gin i think the dating is fairly accurate - yaay we're date buddies again lol

i'm thinking of myself as 8+4 until told otherwise at the 12 week scan

i dont want to buy any maternity clothes yet i feel i havent 'graduated' until i do! is that really dumb lol

Saundy · 29/03/2013 12:41

I've had a generally icky feeling but the last few days have seen an increase in the dry heaves. It's usually just liquid (sorry tmi) but that may be as I'm eating very little. Last night was quite extreme & caught me totally off guard. Have had a couple of sips of water so wondering if it was just a one off? It's a bank holiday so a drop in would be my only option & I'm not sure they could help me Confused

Fairydogmother · 29/03/2013 12:46

i'd def call and ask what you should do. i wouldnt worry so much about throwing up food but if its water then its a bit more pressing to sort it out.

would make you feel better not to be constantly being sick too!

honey86 · 29/03/2013 12:47

challenge accepted. Grin i think its just cos its buried deep into my pelvis and the babys heartbeat would be so tiny... think its a case of blink-and-you'll-miss-it... i spent a good ten mins this morning scanning but again, just pulses and whooshes xx

GinSling82 · 29/03/2013 13:11

Yes still EDD buddies fairy Grin I will consider myself 8+4 too, which is sooo nice to have skipped 3 days ahead. 9 weeks on Monday!! Any help to get the first trimester done with quicker is much appreciated!

Saundy if its a GP drop in they would be able to prescribe you cyclizine. They always say that the N&V is better if you manage to eat, I know that probably seems a horrenous idea right now but maybe if you tried to slowly nibble something plain it might help?!. But like others have said fluids are the most important, if your not keeping water down, you need to see a doc.

Fairydogmother · 29/03/2013 13:17

i know - anything to get to the point where i can actually see a baby on a scan is good!

Saundy · 29/03/2013 13:36

If it happens again today I'll defo go, so far so good. Do completely random nights like that just happen?

Did a massive food shop yesterday, tried to cater to any possible desire to eat I might get. I have croissants, crumpets, ice cream, lovely yogurts, jellies, crisps, apple pie lol - all the stuff I love but hardly ever buy. So far I don't fancy any of it but will have a sniff around & see if I can't tempt myself!

Am watching your home Doppler experiences with interest, I hope they work!

Saundy · 29/03/2013 13:38

Didn't buy bread though - ha!

Saundy · 29/03/2013 13:39

Or milk!!

Dizzy81 · 29/03/2013 13:43

I'm 6 ft 1 and a 1/4, with an inside leg of 36 inches. I'm hoping my jelly beans not going to be too tall?

I'm 8 weeks today and just want to sleep. Had a craving for batterburg cake, so I've caved in. Oops.

Hope all those with ms are feeling a bit better?
