Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi all just marking my place until a catch up.

Honey not sure about chickenpox - I was in a house last week through work and the two children had just recovered from chickenpox. One had it roughly 4 weeks previously, and one about 2 weeks. The one who had had it most recently still has spots but they were scabby. I called the community midwife unit and sought advice - I had it as a child and should be immune, plus when the spots are scabby they are apparently no longer infectious.

I would call and find out what you should do especially since your mum isn't sure.

Ok have had a quick catch up, you are a chatty bunch. Can you imagine we were all in the same room haha! Grin

Saundy women usually put on around 2 stones by the end of their pregnancy - I gained exactly 2 stones and had lost 3 within weeks of giving birth. Here is a link about it

www.babycentre.co.uk/a554810/weight-gain-in-pregnancy

I am feeling very sick tonight but have no cravings so struggling to get over the sickness through eating. Licked two packets of crisps for breakfast this morning and noticed a huge difference in my sickness! They have to be strong crisps like pickled onion, or meaty.

Motherofcleo I love the name Harvey. It has personal meaning to me as a surname but I love it as a first name too.

Our dd has a Gaelic name and we would like to pick a Gaelic name or Scottish name for dc2 aswell I possible although we are rubbish at choosing names! We couldn't decide for dd!

Getting lots of little windy pains in my tummy - I'm also a hit constipated - can I get lactulose over the counter? I can't remember if I asked this already sorry.

So so tired - dh is home tonight so hopefully will get a decent sleep as don't sleep the best when he is not home.

I HATE FEELING SICK!!!!! But I love that I am pregnant so feel bad for moaning Smile

PoppySeedBun · 22/03/2013 23:11

In other news...
So sorry for those who are feeling sick. I usually get nauseous at all sort of things - boats, trains, planes, you name it - so I was convinced I was going to have rough MS. But (touch wood, whistle and all that) almost no sign so far. My DH was convinced I would be fine, for some reason, so he's being quite smug about that Smile

I have been getting plenty of indigestion and wind though - wasn't expecting that as much!

Feel a bit in limbo. Had a very early scan at 5+6, which showed nothing much except it's in the right place. Now feels like a long wait to my first appointment in week 10.

honey hope all is well with chicken pox - sounds like they should be able to treat you quickly even if you're not immune. Horrid for your dd though. Sad

Vocalista86 · 22/03/2013 23:26

Hello! New to the thread, BFP yesterday, due 30th Nov with my first but this is second pregnancy. feeling so icky! However I am pleased to have symptoms this time around as i didn't last time which is how I guessed I would MC before I did!

Nice to chat to other Nov mum's to be Smile

JBrd · 22/03/2013 23:27

honey86 ooh, we're in the same area! I go to Addenbrookes, too Grin

louby86 · 23/03/2013 00:21

Harverina - you can get lactulose over the counter, labour ward had ran out and I had to stop at the chemist the next day after having DS Grin

CheeseandGherkins · 23/03/2013 06:11

Honey and jbrd you must be near me too, I chose hintchingbrooke though. Our daughter was stillborn at addenbrookes as they missed my gestational diabetes even though I begged for help and had many problems and went in with lack of movement a few times. I was 37 weeks. This was 2 years ago. The difference in care when I had my 13 month old was amazing. Hintchingbrooke were amazing, everyone I spoke to was caring and considerate and most of all they saved my baby. Induced her at 33+5 due to gestational diabetes that they tested for at 12 weeks and put me on insulin at 13 weeks for. I'd never go to addenbrookes again and refuse to go there for anything now. The whole place was impersonal and a nightmare for us.

We have snow! Not sure we will make ds1's football game as I think it'll be cancelled. Woke up half an hour ago and can't sleep. Everyone else in the house is fast asleep!

Dizzy81 · 23/03/2013 06:39

Morning all,

Icing your sil is a right cow bag!!

Honey, your poor daughter and. Don't forget to look after you.

Yesterday I was rougher than a badgers arse! Dry heaving every half hour, eating my lunch wasn't that great either - I had to remove the chicken from my sandwich ad it tasted rank. Crisps, chocolate and biscuits are my new friend.

Plus it feels as though someone's given me a boob job in the night!!!!

getoffthecoffeetable · 23/03/2013 06:44

I wish everyone in our house was still fast asleep and hadn't been up since 5.30
cheese it sounds like you had a horrendous time, so pleased that you've found a hospital you're comfortable and happy with.
Am debating whether we might tell our families today. We're eight weeks today. Speak to my mum usually at least once a day and have to keep catching myself so I don't say anything.
If anything wasn't right I'd want my mum and MIL to know as would want their support. Will see what DH says when he wakes up!

getoffthecoffeetable · 23/03/2013 06:44

dizzy am with you on the boob job!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 23/03/2013 06:50

cheese that is awful.

Dizzy81 · 23/03/2013 07:04

Cheese, that's terrible and big hugs.

Getoff, phew glass it not just me. Tell the people who you know would support you. The team I work with know and a few other people in the company as they're back from maternity leave! They've been great and reassuring me lots!

honey86 · 23/03/2013 07:28

nah im in herts, i normally use lister but they want dd to go addenbrookes because lister and qe2s kidney consultants arent specialised enough for her apparently.

im in such a bad mood this morning, ever since i told people dd has chickenpox theyre acting like shes got the black death! even oh aint comin round for a week cos he 'dont wanna catch it' poor things ill ffs! ill remember that wen theyre in the same position!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 23/03/2013 08:04

Sorry your dd has the pox honey I'm surprised so many people are avoiding her, how old is she? Would have thought most people would have immunity by now.
Although my dd hasn't had it just and she's 2.

cheese that sounds awful for you.

poppy I thought they would rebook you for another appointment after your first scan so they can find the heart beat. How frustrating for you.

theicing I'd tell but I'm a great big blabber mouth Grin

Hi to all the newbies, I'm so exited people's due dates are getting to 30th Nov, time is marching on.

honey86 · 23/03/2013 08:14

shes only 3.10 years... the most annoying bit is that theyre making allsorts of excuses not to come near her... and im sure most of them have had it.. its so pathetic... she only a child a poorly child who needs comforting n nursing not to be treated like a walking plague Sad

as you can tell, my hormones are all over the place x

Theicingontop · 23/03/2013 08:20

Sitting here reading lovely homebirth-after-hospital-induction stories and blubbing. Giving me real hope for a normal birth this time!

harverina · 23/03/2013 09:53

Theicing that gives me hope, although I have to say my birth experience was positive despite being induced and ending up with an emc. People always think I a crazy to say that but I just feel I had good care and that, although labour is soooo sore, my dh and I had a fairly pleasant day Grin

vix206 · 23/03/2013 10:19

Sorry you're feeling blue honey. My friends little boy has chicken pox and I've kept well away because I really didn't want DS to catch it. If he catches it he can't go to the childminder which means I can't work, which means we will lose a lot of money Hmm Also, my 70 year old mum hasn't had it and she's very frail so would hate her to catch it.

Just giving you the other side of it, I'm sure your friends don't mean to be unkind to your or poor DD. Wink

Saundy · 23/03/2013 11:12

Welcome Vocal and congrats, sorry you're feeling crappy but also pleased as its a good sign for you!

Thanks for the link Harv will check it out Smile

Sorry you're having a bit of a time of it too Honey I hope its a quick recovery for her and you start getting some support soon!!

Am sat in work feeling like utter crap at the min, could defo do with another PJ day like you Berry though I don't seem to feel much better when I'm trying to chill out either. Woke up feeling uber crappy today, I seem to be making a week of it!

Have you managed to calm down yet Icing? I would defo say that to her, though she may not have the emotional maturity to fully understand. My SiL's flatmate is a receptionist at my Dr's (which I only discovered when I had to see her to make a midwife appt). Am getting really paranoid she's blabbed. I've always been very anti kids so its unusual that my SiL tagged me in a post yesterday saying that she wants a new baby boy in the family as the clothes are so cute..?! That is odd isn't it? She has no reason to be looking at baby clothes (is single & quite anti kids herself). Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Can't wait to get home (5 more hrs!) and then a week off - woop! Am thinking of going home and telling my family next week, I'll only be 8 weeks but that's not massively early to be telling. Mulling it over! Are you guys pretty much all waiting for the 12 week mark?

harverina · 23/03/2013 11:30

Nope all my immediate family know - my in laws, brother in law, mum, sister a few very close friends and a few close work friends. Told them all around 5/ 6 weeks. For anyone else, including close family who are not immediate, waiting until 12 week scan :)

harverina · 23/03/2013 11:31

Thanks louby will send dh to chemist for it in a whole - we have heavy snow here it's looking very white!

Lozcat86 · 23/03/2013 11:38

Hi everyone! I finally got my midwfie booking appointment and its on Monday! Very excited! and my dating scan is May 7th...seems an age away!

berrybomb · 23/03/2013 11:45

Thanks Saundy - I'm loving my lazy day so far!

We've told both sets of parents, and our closest friends. They've been sworn to secrecy until the 12 week scan date though! My friends knew we were trying and there's no way I could drink lemonade in front of them after that, so they had to know!

Lozcat86 · 23/03/2013 11:50

Ive told most people... Blush mainly due to the fact i know ill get asked anyway...everybody knows we've been trying for so long!
I just keep stressing that its really early.
We've also told my step sons as we didnt want them to find out 2nd hand.
