Evening all, welcome newbies.

vix so sorry to hear, take care of yourself.

saundy you can find lots of info online on sites like MN or babycentre that tell you lots of tips for looking after baby. The babycentre site helped me loads the first time round.

Re: cost; the first time round I reckon I spent about £2000, and some of the things I bought I haven't or have hardly ever used. The second time I think I spent about £1000, on new mattresses, blankets, clothes, bottles, and a double buggy, also had to change anything we had bought that was gender specific.
This time I am hoping to spend less as am only buying mattresses, blankets, clothes, and bottles.

8+2?x

Lozcat86 · 28/03/2013 03:52

so sorry to hear your new Vix x

Its my first time but my husbands 3rd, so we will have to get everything from scratch!
Luckily my cousin is giving us her cot a lovely mamas and papas one so thats one thing down. Im not fussy about brands as long as they are safe etc obviously Wink
been having much more nausea this week 7+3 now. Boobs are getting firmer, still peeing a lot, tired all the time and have literally gone off all food, as in theres nothing i remotely fancy eating so when it comes to meal times im going for whatever makes me feel less sick Grin
But im taking this all as good signs and trying not to moan about it Just wish time would speed up a bit so i can get to my scan on 7th May, having my booking in with midwife was good thought - least feel like things are moving along.

getoffthecoffeetable · 28/03/2013 04:56

Thanks for the seeing tutorial theicing will pop that over to my mum who's a dab hand with a sewing machine.
Am awake way too early. Need to go back to sleep if I'll be exhausted but sleep seems to be evading me at the moment!
Really looking forward to the Easter break and spending some quality time with my little family

Saundy · 28/03/2013 05:11

Glad its not just me then BF - must try to remember not to get ahead of myself!! & it is reassuring to know you get some sort of book with them!

Wibbly that sounds amazing. I wonder why you can't get gas and air - or maybe I don't want to know! The second is meant to be much quicker than the first so it sound like you've got it all wrapped up really!

MP that is so funny about her going nuts in your belly - maybe she was dancing lol? It must be such a strange feeling, but yes I am quite short so very squishable at the best of times - something I hadn't considered.

The thing about Glasto that's slightly different for me is that I'd be there for 2 weeks before the festival, so could I really manage in a tent for that long. I usually work the build up and then just enjoy the festival but it is a lot of walking (its to another field just for breakfast), early starts and lugging around tins of paint. Plus days spent standing directly under electricity pylons.

Other people I've worked with have been pregnant but they've had caravans & partners with jobs that have pick-ups (so no walking for them). Confused Maybe its not such a good idea as I do get terrible hayfever, I seem to be allergic to the campfire & I get a rash of the grass - all things I don't care about when drunk but clearly I wont be. Plus hadn't considered the weeing thing & then if its a muddy one Hmm Aah so annoying though, why does it have to be the Rolling Stones this year!!! & I don't even have to pay, they pay me. Ah well.

Been awake since 3am again, I really hope this isn't going to become a habit.

Also so glad its not just me who's completely off food Loz I can't finish a meal at the minute & nothing appeals - not even crisps!!

Saundy · 28/03/2013 05:15

Good morning GOTCT I see I'm not the only early riser!

Lozcat86 · 28/03/2013 05:35

once i eat i usually feel okish but its the thought of it... bleurgh!

Saundy · 28/03/2013 05:39

Its not even that with me its just no appetite, I'm not sat too queasy to eat I'm just not getting hungry, not liking the smell or idea of anything and then not enjoying the taste or feeling like I can finish. Its very strange.

Dizzy81 · 28/03/2013 06:30

Morning all.

Vix, I'm soo sorry.

I'm another one who's not fussed about eating. Plus I've got a constant bad tAste in my mouth, i can only describe it as the after yove woken up from naps and your mouth tastes funny. Bad description I know.

Feeling sick as a dog but not yet been full on sick. Lots of dry heaves. Oh the joys of the first trimester!

TiredFeet · 28/03/2013 06:40

Had a thought, if anyone is offered an old crib/ cot then baby mattresses online can make mattresses in any size. It meant we could use a crib that had been in our family for a couple of generations, and also my parents got a mattress for my brothers old cot for when we went to visit.

saundy ah doing glastonbury like that sounds quite full on when pregnant!

Off to see family for the long weekend now, part of me wants to tell them, but it feels to early I think (only 6+1 today) and dh's dad is a big blabbermouth so when we tell him we are telling the whole world (made that mistake last time Angry )

Saundy · 28/03/2013 07:02

I think you're right tired dammit. Can you not put FiL under strict instructions that it doesn't leave the room this time?

I'm another dry heaver dizzy not looking forward to the progression - hoping its not a fore gone conclusion.

TiredFeet · 28/03/2013 07:14

He was under strict instructions last time saundy [grr] have a condition that puts me at higher risk of miscarriage and I even told him that and he still kept 'accidentally' telling people or dropping humungous great hints to people!

Saundy · 28/03/2013 07:22

Ah what a nightmare, I don't suppose it could be an option to just tell your immediate family?

getoffthecoffeetable · 28/03/2013 07:22

Morning all.
I'm a dry heaver too. I was only actually sick once when I was pregnant with DS and that was because I could taste that the bread was on the turn! Am really hoping I'll be the same this time too.
I've got that funny taste in my mouth too diizzy
saundy Glastonbury sounds great, it all depends on your tolerance levels really. I did loads of walking when pregnant with DS and in your second trimester you shouldn't feel half as bad as the first crosses fingers and toes that this is true
Pregnancy can make symptoms disappear or go massively the other way, so hay fever may get loads better or loads worse and you wouldn't be allowed to take anything for it.
Good luck with your decision - it'd be the toilet queues that'd worry me!

Saundy · 28/03/2013 07:25

Actually as crew I could wangle some backstage passes which would = shortcuts & toilets. I'll not write it off completely just yet!

Dizzy81 · 28/03/2013 07:27

I was such a clutz in the night I rolled over from my left to right hand side and squashed the boobies. That hurt and woke me up.

I'm glad I'm not theory dry heavier, I was speaking to my mil and she told me she didn't have any ms with both her pregnancies, I shall ask my mum tomorrow when I see her if she had ms.

Had tugging pains near my belly button this am - guessing its jelly bean growing.

Double post - knew I should've got more sleep!
saundy I'd probably go if it was me (now you've said you'll be able to pee as much as you like lol). Get yourself a good air bed and you'll be comfy.

Dizzy81 · 28/03/2013 08:16

Im exhausted after doing some washing and hoovering. Works going to be fun.

Theicingontop · 28/03/2013 08:30

I needed more sleep than I got last night, in a right foul mood this morning. Cat won't leave me alone and has me employed as his doorman, DS is asking me a million questions a minute and I have a shitload of housework to do. I've run out of teabags!!! And I have a rotten head cold.

Wah wah wah!

/rant.

harverina · 28/03/2013 08:44

Morning went to bed mega early last night so had loads to catch up on.

Vix hope you are ok, so sorry to hear your news.

I have been having pains that are catching my breath in my left side. Phoned triage at maternity hosp and they said I should call epu at 9am when they open as I should be scanned to rule out ectopic. The pain isn't always there, is sometimes dull but sometimes it catches my breath. I mentioned it yesterday at my screening and the mw didn't seem overly concerned but said to call if it got worse. Yesterday it wasn't there at all I don't think - would ectopic not be a constant pain? I have bo bleeding. Tbh I am now stressing out and feeling very tearful. On way to work, going to drop dd and dh off and call at 9 when I am myself. If they want to see me I will pick dh up from work.

I remember a couple of others had early scans to rule out ectopic - what was your pain like? I can't remember who it was and it was quite far back in the threads.

Agree we using for bags. We used blankets initially and then switched to them and they were sooo much easier - no worrying about baby being uncovered etc which will be good at the time of year our dc's are coming along at. We used a mix of real grobags and various other brands. My dd was in her bag till 2.5yrs. I highly recommend tkmaxx for the bags. They do various brands and we found the ones we bought for £10-13 really good. They washed brilliantly so a good buy. We got a few from there. The asda ones shrunk so wouldn't recommend them even though they are very soft and feel lovely.

Hope everyone is having a good morning.

Fairy - I don't think your reaction was out of order actually. At least you didn't give him a taste of his own medicine with the whip Wink which he bloody well deserved!!!

harverina · 28/03/2013 08:45

No bleeding sorry

harverina · 28/03/2013 08:47

Sorry my typos are out of control. I agree with using gro bags Blush

getoffthecoffeetable · 28/03/2013 08:55

harv good luck this morning. Hopefully it's round ligament pain. Let us know how you get on.
icing your cat sounds like our dog. I'll be doorman for about five times then I shut him in the kitchen so he can learn his lesson (he never does but it does mean I get some peace and quiet for a bit). Hope your day gets better

Saundy · 28/03/2013 09:05

Harv I had to go for an early scan to rule out ectopic and was dianosed with CL Cyst so it may be me you're thinking of. My pain was virtually from the day I got pregnant & stared off as constant but very mild period pains, then about once in the night and maybe 2 or 3 times a day (lasting 15 mind to 2 hrs) really intense pains.

The pains covered my entire abdomen and sometimes down my thigh too. Doubled over crying in the middle of a work conference type pains. Blush They woke me on a night & kept me awake.

Now they've settled down & the constant ache is gone but the bursts of pain continue - though not as intense now. Some people only get the pain in one side but it was so intense with me it felt like it was everywhere. The cyst isn't harmful to the baby though - quite the opposite, its a complete fkr for me though!!

Try not to worry and let us know how you get on x

Saundy · 28/03/2013 09:08
